What a great advertisement.
iirc, stolen car caught a few counties over...
Yes, helicopters are relatively slow machines. One of the major factors of the speed of a helicopter is the faster it goes the lift around the rotor disk becomes unequal and could cause the helicopter to roll.
To use super simple #'s, lets say the tips of the rotors are spinning at 100mph. If the helicopter was travelling forward at 100mph, the tip going into the wind would be travelling at 200mph while the tip retreating would be travelling at 0mph. The lift on the tip heading into the wind would be substantially more than the retreating blade and would cause a roll.
But, they've solved that. The next generation of rotorcraft are going to be incredible! This test, they were only using 40% power to the pusher prop. The design calls for a cruise speed of 250kn or 287mph (465km) and has a theoretical top speed of over 300kn (345mph - 555km)
tfw there's not a single vanishing point reference on a video of a white challenger running from the cops
I had no idea helicopters were so slow.
I didn't know we could do that
Criminal: *outruns chopper*
Reporter: (in absolute amazement) "That vehicle is clearly going at least 110 miles an hour!"
German driver: *flashes high beams* "Why the fuck is that slowpoke blocking the left lane?"
