by my good friend and colleague from Australia special Nick what's going on I figured out why not I figured out why they're zoomed in I'm fixing it why people can deal with it why because I wasn't anything we did that intro once and then and then there was no audio and we don't know why things are technically in a trying I did not I did not have it set up for two people I was expecting it to be three people and so I'm fixing the two people went on the flight yeah there you go you get to see behind the scenes uh every other podcast starts out with like half an hour of just bullshitting around as they get all this thing set while they're live we normally hide it pretty well yeah there you go bam you're done can I hear you though Jesse can [ __ ] you Jesse as well yeah I'm going just direct through my link and it's it's working fine I just yeah I'm I'm looking at the chat and they're just like what the hell they're used to everything they're looking right guys are trash I very quickly so normally it would be this setup so normally would be like this and I'd be there at the bottom and all that was already set but because I'm not going to be on screen I went oh I'll just set it up for the two-person one forgetting I hadn't resized everything for it yeah so just two people I can see Jesse Yeah so I'm showing I normally have the other scene now it's this scene but this scene wasn't set up right and I forgot to do that my apologies it's okay it's okay it's a stretch it's not okay right now damn it it's okay it's not okay no and we know it's really stressful and for the for the we are doing our best here but hey we're back it's another week um it's gonna be a short show and I'm gonna say that and you might go oh no we've jinxed it but it's gonna be a short show because I'm gonna make it a short show because I've got to get up super early so I can't I can't physically stay up till 3am chatting about video games and more to the point there's not a lot that's gone on this week and and I'm reading the chat yes I think the video is stuttering a bit yeah it was it dropped for a little bit again but it's steady now yeah hopefully it will stay that way so fingers crossed and we appreciate you bearing with us um what have we been playing just before we get into the news we've been playing any games you've been doing anything well now I can talk about the fact that I was playing Double Dragon yes yes you can have the reviews and everything are out yeah um it was weird I was saying to Jesse because initially the preview was only the first 90 minutes of the game here's the thing you can beat the game in about 90 minutes to two hours if you're good enough ah so the I felt weird with the preview I was like I think I've played the whole game pretty much in the first 90 minutes so but but I doubt they want us to talk about the whole game so yeah so I'm like so I was really I felt very restricted about what I could say in my preview because of the fact that I had pretty much played the entire game like all the stages this that the other so it was very very weird um but Double Dragon is is it's not it's not bad like it uh I like how much they modernize that I think the roguelite elements work really well um my my issue is and I noticed that immediately when I played it was the the combat felt really just slow and clunky and I thought maybe it was just the character I was using but then pretty much like the big strong characters were even slower and clunkier um and like I'm used to with my scrolling beat em up so I'm used to some quick Punchy combat where Double Dragon didn't really have that I mean I'm sure there are some out there who will enjoy it for what it is for me though I don't know in the control scheme was weird like anyone who plays these scrolling beat em ups will be used to certain things double tap forward yeah double tap forward to run this game has its own run button and I can't figure out I haven't been able to figure out why it's like a stock standard convention in these games that double tap forward runs if the game has a run option your punch button usually picks up your weapons and your food items not here there's a separate grab slash pick up button and it just means that you're always I don't know you're just always fighting the game in a way a bit it did it I did I found it frustrating I still enjoyed it okay like I gave it a seven which is a that's a perfectly good score yep genre here don't don't worry about IGN's the modern day IGN Fanboy scale seven is a good score and it is it's a good game like I like after the you know I can't help myself after I do a review I see what others scored and the funniest part is of the initial reviews that came out mine was actually on the lower end some places were giving it a nine an eight an eight point five and I'm like I read through some of their reviews and none of them talked about how none of them really talked about how the combat felt that so I'm like I've got a funny feeling you guys don't normally play scrolling beat em ups like if you played Streets of Rage 4 and if you played TMNT and do you feel it like in those games it's fast it's bang bang bang way faster way more responsive in this game it's just yeah I don't know maybe maybe maybe there was some animation sacrifice going on because the animations are quite good um yeah every game every game every design team has their own goals right when they're building something and sometimes you know I you know aping that's not the right word reminiscing and designing towards how games felt in the past might be one way of appreciating those titles but other developers and designers might want to try new stuff and sometimes that doesn't always work you know well that's how it felt with this game it felt like the developers were trying to not stray too far away from the original games and how they looked and felt yeah but also wanted to modernize it like I don't know how many people watching have played Double Dragon The Originals there's a lot of rose-colored glasses going on with double dragon like we all love Double Dragon because you have to remember there was nothing else back then what were you gonna compare Double Dragon to there was nothing else realistically Double Dragon wasn't very good um once final fight came along one Streets of Rage came along Captain Commando Knights of the Round Alien vs Predator pundy shark once Capcom and Sega got involved in the genre that was it like Double Dragon just was never that good and it felt like these devs wanted to go modern but they're like oh no we don't want to alienate Double Dragon fans um you know we need to still keep the combat similar because that's yeah I don't know it sounds it sounds like they probably they were caught between a rock and a hard place of trying to do what they want a little bit a little bit there's something there like there is something there if if the combat felt a bit faster and a bit tighter it would have been I would have gone 8.5 yeah because every everything else was really good um but the the combat itself just yeah it was a bit I could handle it just fine it's not like it was like oh my God this sucks again seven out of ten good score just when you compare it to a Streets of Rage four when you compare it to a TMNT when you compare it to its contemporaries it's yeah but anyway fair enough mate fair enough um but yeah aside from that the usuals the usuals well so uh rocket League fortnite still working my way towards Optimus Prime in fortnite actually um yeah um and it's funny there was there was a character from Elder Scrolls Online that got released in fortnite because remember Rumor Mill they didn't deal with Microsoft and Bethesda to bring ball or Microsoft and Bethesda character so he had Doom Slayer now we've got the dude from Elder Scrolls that was a thing I remember this there was a couple of others I was made aware of that should be coming that I think people would get excited about but yeah um hopefully the turtles come soon that movie comes out next month yeah I'm quite looking forward to it yeah and I've been seeing a lot of other Turtles promo stuff like those Xbox controllers with the full-on slice of pizza on the back of them did you see those smell like pizza yeah like they're the first world's first scented controller you know and you know if you're hungry and you need that kind of thing okay sure like I imagine a lot of gamers pads already smell like pizza I don't know maybe possibly chips yeah Cheeto dust or something um there's a super chat for Facebook yeah nothing wrong with a couple of bump sleds appreciate all you do by the way it's a personal mission for me to ask inane questions to stretch out this show John yeah yeah go on Facebook you try it mate you try it you spend all your money it's fine it was all a ruse just to get you to open your wallet I really do need to have a short show I'll just um yeah game wise uh I actually I've started playing It Takes Two with my my little boy hadn't you played that in the past yeah he kind of he he bounced off uh I think it was just a little bit too young to really nail it but now it's summer holidays and uh he hasn't played in a while and he was like oh Dad can we can we play that it takes two game and I was like yeah but you gotta you gotta dig deep mate and come through for me on this you know if I'm gonna play through this entire game again but man just just playing it again I'm just reminded about how imaginative it actually is and how much I absolutely adore it like it's one of those games where you hear nothing but good things yeah like well I I saw lots of people getting very fragile about uh the murder scene and spoiler alert for those that haven't played it and I really if you haven't played it I thoroughly recommend you do I think it's probably one of the most original titles to come out of AAA games in Forever um he's like are an incredible Studio but the murder scene where your theory of I'll kill my daughter's favorite toy to make her cry to turn us back to human people getting real upset about that real upset okay so I don't know why because it's like come on it's like it's not that big a deal um but people do get no it's a video game I know and it's I think it's you've got to have the right sense of humor for me that dark black humor I was like yeah this is great I loved it I absolutely loved it um but yeah other than that I've been working on a super secret project that I want to talk about oh God I did forget I played one other game oh I didn't forget and the funny thing is when I bought this game so I actually bought a game when I bought this game I'm like I've got to talk about on the podcast so it was on sale and I had like six gold coins 600 gold coins on switch and it was on sale so I bought for 16 bucks Australian ghosts and goblins Resurrection all right finally I'd always wanted to play that because I used to love ghosts and goblins and Ghouls and ghosts um so I bought that it's just a remake of ghosts and goblins but with look they've made the visuals look like uh the those marionette puppet artwork yeah they've made the visual style look it's really really nice I need to stop going back to that game I need to stop going back to ghosts here [ __ ] hard as balls like it's so hard and like it's such a relic of a different time in gaming where they just made stupid design decisions to make games harder than they needed to be like yeah the fact that is it's actually realistic like if you jump you so you jump in ghosts and goblins if you remember ghosts and goblins you jump and once you jump on that Arc that's it nothing changes your trajectory you're on that Arc yeah you can't see how it would be in real life yeah but it just it gives the game a window of opportunity to be a cheap bastard and it's like oh he started his jump now guess what I'm gonna have this zombie just pop up out of the ground right where he's about to land like it's just super cheap with stuff like that um but you know why yeah that was the era of coin op like everything even homemade yes I know I understand that yes it's an arcade game yes and those games were literally they were the original micro transactions which is what makes me laugh about people getting upset about microtransactions like you didn't grow up in the arcades did you where it was just like put your money in put your money in put your money in like it's this is how it's meant to be micro transactions today are just the evolution of the arcades back in the day but there's different goals because you've already put your money up front in the arcades it's quote unquote not free to play but like you put in 20 cents back then you put in 20 cents 50 cents a buck away you go but they made the games cheap and hard so you keep pumping money and that was the whole point yeah um so it was funny to see them do that in ghosts and goblins and not make any changes whatsoever having said that having said that like all good video games should it has not God mode per se but unlimited continue mode so there's effectively no game over screen so I was like well turn that on and chose that mode so that I just didn't have to worry about a timer and a game over screen and it's making it much more enjoyable to go through oh well that's that's something then we'll take it yes we'll take it Jesse what about you you've been playing anything I think you've I've been playing too much like everything yeah I'm doing myself so there's like 70 games coming out over the next few months and I for some reason I'm giving myself like 50 of them to cover um on August 2nd first one I did on August 2nd releases the first atomic heart DLC there's gonna be four total so I'll have a review of that and can talk about it next week I'm also working on reviewing the Halo outcasts book and that releases on August 8th uh we have an Xbox and Hayworth very chair that my wife is reviewing and that comes out uh early August then I'm reviewing or Atlas Fallen that comes out August 10th so expect that one close to it August 10th I'm a reviewing Shadow Gambit which is the next game from the Mimi developer who did Shadow taxes and Desperados yep um me me yeah so reviewing that one middle of August and then once I can talk about um Serious Sam Siberian Mayhem played the [ __ ] out of that it just hit Game Pass it's a good Serious Sam game it's dumb the story is terrible The Voice acting's bad on purpose but it looks nice and it's just fun to play I'm streaming that a little bit uh that's on Game Pass and then Dave the diver which isn't only on PC right now but is eventually supposed to come to everything which seems to be one of the better roguelikes ever made it's super super mechanically dense like just a ton of different systems but they they all work perfectly together and they Dole them out very slowly um so you are a diver going down to get fish for your sushi restaurant essentially is what it is and you go down you dive twice a day whatever you catch you bring back to the restaurant and you help serve um but then like 900 other things get added on top of that and they all work and it's funny it's really well written the Sprites look great mixed in with 3D it's definitely one it's coming to switch first later this year then I think they're hoping to get it everywhere next year and that is uh I've been saying it on Twitter yeah digging it I have a I have a request for you thanks on x call request yeah I mean maybe we should come in on that but a request next time you're doing coffee with cabasa can I can I and I I think chat in fact get a poll up like whatever game you do next it should be this one right cursed Halo have you seen the mod nope okay do me a favor when you get a minute or in fact you can put it up in the Stream now if that's something you want to risk doing I don't know I don't want to risk doing it nope okay um we're staying on this screen it's a mod for the original Halo CE with all sorts of crazy stuff and I like the shotgun in it is bent this way so your reticules over here and like at one point in the game you have a pistol and you find more pistols so you gaffitate them to your head and you can press like flashlight and down and do like a crazy animation where you like head banging and doing all this it's completely insane like it will just deliberately be like oh your warhawks like really tiny or it's absolutely enormous it is like the trailer for it is really funny it was a mod like it must have been a decade ago and when MCC got mod support the original creator of cursed Halo went in and redid it and I just want to see you play if anything just to watch you be like what the [ __ ] I just want to see that reaction so please I will look into it give it a chance I promise you you will have a good time because I know Halo C is probably it's not your favorite Halo it's not your favorite but I think you'll enjoy this because yeah Fair it's definitely better than two wait I thought you'd love to me no I don't I no no two two I play everything on heroic or legendary and two is just miserable on that two one oh my God two on legendary yeah I still don't know how I beat two on legendary back again yeah still don't know how I did it yeah wow I don't know how you do it I've never bothered like just like that I think I stopped you've never done it I've done legendary on every other Halo but I think I might have done it without like the original 2014 uh 2004 release I might have done it on the original Xbox but I never bothered to redo it I did it on the OG Xbox and I just did it on a Master Chief Collection last year it seems like I'm doing a ton it's because I'm trying to get as much done as I can before we hopefully get Starfield whenever that is because that's going to take forever yeah can I review Super Mario Brothers wonder you can play it I can't get your account they won't give us four they've got it pre-ordered I've already got it pre-ordered well reviews are only useful if you get them out on the Embargo and we won't get a code for that so no I mean you can do a text only one if you want I don't care Genghis has done some PC and PS5 only text onlys but no need for a video I'm really hoping we can get like three weeks with Starfield at the least I was hoping to have it by now no expectations of that just hopes but yeah that game seems so big and there's so much coming out like it's yeah I've reached out um to to our friends uh to understand what what plans are for that um yeah we'll see we'll see I'd love to know from the community like um in fact I may well drop a forum post up on on the Forum so maybe in the Discord uh of any anything that people want me to go and check out on Gamescom like that they're curious about um you want me to see if I can track it down find it somewhere go and try it out I'm happy to have to do it I did find and I'm sure I brought this up on the show before you know the the Harold in pain guy the meme where he's like this yeah okay right and I get a lot of jokes from my IRL friends that I look a bit like young Harold like without a beard just like I could I could see that I could see that so as soon as I saw it like okay I gotta get a selfie with this guy just for the IRL friends and be like it's not funny yeah I'm gonna go for it I found out where he's where he's being hosted but games can't put it onto a x today yes I could but yes no one calls it X Elon Musk this is a really stupid thing to do it's a terrible name to do that like I I wanted to do it on PayPal that's when he got fired from yeah he's wanted it for a long time John uh we've Frozen on the stream I think have we or No Yes reimagination are we still are we still audio I didn't move anything why did it do that [ __ ] thing the cams are frozen then it's funny yeah yeah it's annoying you're gonna see my face John there John wasn't there at all gone again yeah yeah audio's fine they can hear us right now it's it's a it's a bug with a window cap it's a bug with window capture on OBS where if I click out of it sometimes I have to click back into it or it won't pick it back up again yeah yeah sorry about that it's it's funny how John's camera just wasn't on at all and I was in this weird position where I was just like oh and let me just say right real quick uh Travis you don't have to buy you now own it you're welcome he wanted the expanse we had a code all right um but yes it I I get that Elon is not a hundred percent there like I understand that like I know bipolar when I see it um but ah dude like I'm not is it my imagination or is John muted oh yeah you are muted Jesus Christ I can't I actually don't know how often you do that yeah I actually can't believe how often you do that um but I don't think he's quite understanding the impact of what he's doing because he only has yes men around he will anyone that ever pushes back at all is immediately fired like like the CEOs ramble on Twitter like we think X I'm like you don't think this x is cool in 2001 or like 1999 x.com what is it we don't know Twitter Twitter had had hit a point of Twitter had hit a point of ubiquity and it hit a point of integration with everything in media and entertainment where it was just a part of the landscape like it's it had taken on a life of its own yeah and just it's fun because to me that this guy is in charge and and what blows my mind even more is that people like the I feel like Elon Musk is the definition of someone failing upwards do you know what do you like do you know what I mean like I can't think of like he might uh people he's an incredible genius is he was he just hire people that make him look like did he design the spaceships designers to do the spaceships and he is he an incredible Communicator that like gets people to buy ideas yeah maybe a great salesman I could give him that all you need to know look up the story about him trying to make Pop-Tarts at Twitter headquarters just look up that story and you will realize that he is a he is an idiot it's just it's really painful and and the hero worship that seems to go on for this dude I'm just like uh what why why why why why why why stand for this guy like again like again people need to understand like I said I I know bipolar when I see it and he's not a hundred percent there so you you have to I'm not saying give him some leeway but like you have to come into this understanding that he's not mentally a hundred percent whether he knows it or not whether he knows it or not um it's just yeah I don't know it's almost sad what's going on but it's real frustrating I think for people who rely on Twitter to get the word out on their business on their website that's what I mean a lot of people have established like relationships big following like indeed like and they've talked about it it's kind of some like any engagement you used to get off of Twitter like you could put up a post and you would get like two 300 people might click on it it's like five or six now because people just hate the freaking site so much they don't want to go on it to find things anymore there's a lot of Indie devs who kind of have to start all over again and it's just it's not sad it's not great um but hey look you know sometimes maybe Elon Musk is run out of energy maybe he hasn't had the right nutrients intakes maybe that's something to do with it what do you think maybe he needs this brain juice to make him a bit smarter um so if if if Elon had some control which he can get if you want if he goes to suddenly a lot of us Aussies say like our days of the week like Sunday Monday Tuesday I don't say it like that because I'm more ethnic than full Aussie um but yes a lot of us go oh yeah having a barbecue on Sunday catching up with the realize on Monday it's like man stop talking like that what are you doing you're doing as a disservice stop doing it I'm sure that's how Americans feel when they hear rednextalk like don't talk like that talk like that summer holidays but yeah yeah well maybe maybe you are taking over my mind um but hey I'll tell you what I am pissed off about I am really pissed off I'm annoyed I've been I've restarted my Xbox in my front room and here like six times I know oh yeah it's a slow roll out everyone will get it soon but why I don't understand why this is the first time they're doing the public rollout in a staggered fashion why are they doing that irritating and I think that Sonic's gonna crop up and we'll be like hey I don't know a part of me is thinking maybe it's better if I just don't get it because from what I'm hearing it's not any like it's actually worse from a functionality standpoint so it looks nice because we can actually see our wallpapers which is great but that's all they needed to do all they needed to do was give us that new front screen where you could see more wallpaper the rest of it could have stayed exactly the same but they've got like a pin still there I can't see anyone's views you get two of them further down below stuff you can't remove look they want they want to they're using their Dash to push Game Pass and they're not gonna change that so get used to it it is what it is well I checked my son's S I check my daughter's s not I haven't got it my series X doesn't have a I just yeah I I I'm looking forward to seeing my Dash wallpaper like the animated Dynamic theme and that sort of stuff but I'm not sure I'm excited about the other aspects of it if you want the new one that changes based on the game you're playing it's still only the default one right now unfortunately oh what do you mean the default Dynamic background is the only one that will change the background to match the game you're currently hovering on on a time yeah that's right of course of course that's how PlayStation does it PlayStation doesn't have dynamic themes so whenever you select the game it gives you a wallpaper for that game you you can only get that wallpaper if you're on the default the very first Dynamic background if you choose any other one it won't work that makes sense of course that that why would I don't expect otherwise I know I'm just letting people know in case they're like hey I set it to the Hi-Fi Rush one and it doesn't change to the game yeah yeah I know I suppose I suppose that makes sense though right if you're of course it does of course if you're saying I want this picture then you're kind of telling the system well then I'm never going to change it to another picture that's exactly right like you want to see that picture all the time and you've got to remember most of the tiles most of the time are gonna be the games so you either want to see your wallpaper or you want to see the games which one do you want yeah pick one maybe um well that's it I might be wrong I don't none of us have it yet so it's hard to actually know anything about the freaking about it but then yeah but then even the current Dash does weird stuff like on the s's that I've got yeah so normally now if you use your settings do you end up with a setting style as your main tile yes so do I but my kids s's don't what Mighty this is I because when I went and checked the dash to see if they had the new Dash I'd go to settings I went back out to their Dash and the settings tile wasn't there it was still all their games my sons did it and my daughter's s did it that's weird why is there current Dash acting different to my Dash how strange I did not know that was a thing Xbox is just so weird with this stuff it's just so weird like that dashboards can behave differently on different consoles it makes no sense strange I don't know why I just that's really peculiar they do still have the Starfield backgrounds on their Xboxes though because I attached that controller that got sent to me open so I was like well if they've screwed up and given me an open controller I'm just going to take that theme for all my Xboxes um but yeah uh I don't know a part of me wants the new Dash but then there's another part of me that's like maybe not maybe I don't know I don't want it and probably which means I'll probably get it today yeah you'll load it off after this and you'll be like oh it's you know what's going to be frustrating I get the sense that this Dash is so close to perfect but they've intentionally screwed it with the whole forcing game pass outs thing what if you took that away it would probably be perfect don't say that that's the sense I get don't don't say that let's not find out if and when we get it well maybe we'll never get it maybe you and I are destined to never have it then could be a thing doesn't bother me that much no I don't care um it's only a dashboard very big deal no big deal well I wouldn't say only the dashboard matters but I know you're a big fan of dashboards but I don't know if I'll want lots of Game Pass ads on my dashboard that's all yeah um the biggest news of the week I suppose no why don't we say that for later why don't we get the you want a quick show so why don't we saying okay the big news for later uh Ratchet and Clank is out on PC and I don't know why but I saw it all over my timeline about people testing it with the hard drive talk to me about this is it because PlayStation claimed that okay this is a timeline to this yeah there's a timeline to this okay okay so let's go through the let's go through the timeline okay ratchet like like in traditional Sony [ __ ] marketing Style Sony shows off Ratchet and Clank Rift rifted Rift apart good game only PS5 games Auto uh they can just instantly travel to other other levels yeah yeah all the fast travel stuff yes yeah the riffs and you instantly travel to another or not quite incidentally it's like two seconds okay um you know and back then Insomniac said this game and this is why you've got to choose your words carefully yeah so back then Sony was like well this is only possible because of the PS5 SSD only possible it just wouldn't be possible without the SSD and the PS5 now people who know better were like yeah okay whatever but you know Ratchet and Clank came out blah blah hardly anyone bought the game that's the funniest part about it for all the buzz and all the cetera viral marketing and all of that sort of stuff I'm one of only like a million people that actually bought the game at least I put my money where my mouth is um anyway PC Port gets announced and everyone's like holding off on going too crazy because they're like well maybe they'll require an SSD which would make sense like it's 2023 ssds aren't an expensive thing anymore no right they're not they're not expensive anymore a 512 or a one terabyte basic stocks there that ssds are expensive so everyone's like well let's just hold off and see maybe this game will require an SSD like Starfield does Starfield requires an SSD yeah I'm like okay well maybe ratchet will then the specs come out guess what minimum spec doesn't require an SSD you can run the game off a hard drive so of course everyone and the Twitter trolling started oh they lied oh look at it it can run off Hydra the the Sony Fanboy counter argument was whoa It's Gonna Run like crap of a hard drive it's like well okay even if it runs like crap though it runs Insomniac said it's only it's impossible without the SSD anyway we're now seeing how the game runs now again the the PlayStation Fanboys are all are taking a very specific clip of one load of the first Rift that you go through where it just really stutters pretty hard outside of that first Rift stunner it's fine it runs I'm playing fine I said screw it and I'm playing a clip of it and the first world takes 10 seconds and then pretty much every other area is two to five it's not unplayable what do you mean people that are the second world the second world is faster than the SSD yeah and the funny thing is the IGN um article that says is basically unplayable it's like no it is basically 99 of the game doesn't even use this freaking mechanic like this is a few times works fine the other like the the rift gun one this one two mechanic yeah oh dear that's you got people need to remember half the rift crap in Rift apart is just Titanfall 2 which was being done on Xbox One and PS4 I know did Titanfall 2 comes three seconds did come to 360. Oh okay that's why I kept wondering when everyone kept saying oh this game's not possible on a hard drive I'm like how many times do you think that Rift stuff happens I've played Rift apart go check my profile I've got the Platinum the game doesn't Rift that many times and the other rifting is doesn't really need the SSD because you're just going from this part of the stage to 10 meters in this part because you've used the rift gun and then there's the other type of rifting where it's just Titanfall 2 where it's the same stage with different window dressing and if they have built the game to work on hdds by default they would have just changed this up so you didn't have the it just he's just hovering there they would have masked that somehow because people were used to people were used we forget because it's been years now but we were used to incredibly long loading we were used to yeah seconds to two and a half minutes to go from the space to a planet in Destiny 2. waiting 10 seconds on a rift in the middle of a cutscene you're not doing anything is not unplayable the actual playable parts of the game are fine that's still the same exactly the same it's just a Ratchet and Clank game like I said this back when it came out I'm like it's just another Ratchet and Clank game with a different gimmick and I wasn't trying to say that to deride the game like but it is and I love the registered and Clank games I'm not saying it in a bad way they know what it is but it's the same reason that like Demon's Souls isn't on on Old consoles and returnal isn't on Old consoles it's because they wanted to have this artificial version of next gen only titles that could work perfectly fine last gen if they wanted them to yeah and and I set it I said it all back then like it was just that there was a dude there was an indie Dev I had found the Tweet now I've lost it again I've got to find it there was an indie Dev that showed that Ratchet and Clank riff stuff working in Unreal Engine on a hard drive like it again I hope now that we've done it so many times hopefully with the PlayStation 6. because let's be honest Sony's gonna do it again when the PlayStation 6 comes out there'll be some new thing that Sony's gonna Market Apple style and talk about how it's like the greatest thing and it's never been done before just like 3D audio which Xbox one had you know Sony is going to talk about some amazing thing that's just never been and people are just gonna buy into it again and then it's going to get disproven again can we just all stop buying into that crap no whenever they happen we're two decades into people buying into it and they'll never stop more than two decades it started with the PS2 it started with a place where they would emotion engine and Toy Story graphics and then the cell came along and the cell was going to make things just not possible anywhere else and blah blah blah blah the PS4 didn't have anything revolutionary it was a very Bare Bones very basic console which worked to Sony's advantage um but then the PS5 came along and all of a sudden 3D audio was this thing that had never been done before and then the SSD was so fast side note I bought an SSD for my PS5 one of the Samsung ones the 980 Pros God I can't get over how tiny those things are yeah they are super I actually can't and I mean the Xbox card is even tinier again but like it's like it was like this big this tiny little thing yeah it's impressive isn't it oh my God and the installation wasn't that bad it was two screws you pop it in and again it put it this way installing the SSD in the PS5 was Far easier than installing the hard drive in the PS4 or the PS3 it was a far easier especially the PS3 it was a much much much easier process than either of those two consoles and I still personally wish Microsoft allowed for internal I really wish they'd allowed it because I just I hate having stuff sticking out of my console I'd rather have it inside yeah that's just that's just the main thing I I put a one terabyte in my PS3 I don't think that's uh you know it's not it's it's a perfectly reasonable thing yeah that's also why I'm a bit like what is all this nonsense about uh attachable Drive things I'm just like really you guys are we gonna go there this is what we're gonna do this is we're going to Aspire towards I don't get it don't get me wrong it's very convenient the card you just grab the card you go Boop and you pop it in and starting like that's fine I just again I'm well aware that I'm being nitpicky and anal about it because in the end I can't see the back of my console yeah ultimately I can't see it it's just a thing that's borrowing in the back of my brain knowing that all that stuff is dangling out and sticking out at the back yeah anyway it is what it is my PS5 now has an extra terabyte which I'll probably never use but um I was going to get two terabytes but one terabyte was only a hundred bucks on Amazon that's pretty Prime day or whatever so I'm like yeah 100 bucks and if I ever upgrade again I can give that one terabyte to my son and he can put it in his PS5 man he saw the Spider-Man controller it's like oh I want to get it it's like you've already got two PS5 controllers you don't need another one well if he wants to play for more than five hours in a row he does hmm um yeah I I have to admit uh folks if you do August yeah I was just wondering if you covered it in what you've been playing or did you I have not no because this is a game I actually played a long time ago and I was going to do a review but then out of nowhere they said oh it's something weak I'm like well [ __ ] I don't have the time to review it now so I was like I'd just like to cover it on this because it's a really fun uh isometric action game really good it's not a roguelite or anything it's just a straight up action game um it's Russian I believe um pretty good story not the best voice acting it's not bad there's not a lot of it um looks really cool plays really well isn't a big title so a lot of people might not have ever heard of it or just might miss it especially with the Deluge of games that are coming out but uh after a long time in Early Access on PC it's out in full there and it's coming Xbox on August 1st and I just wanted to highlight it because it's a game I played most of and really enjoyed just won't have the time to review it now Fair yes it's very it looks there's some unbelievable pieces of artwork in it with the pixel style and it's ridiculously cool once you power up there you go drift looks pretty cool yeah it's awesome it's not just good it's great initial drift looks pretty good yeah he's sold let me just watch this trailer uh oh Nick every time huh go there guys stopping uh while you're watching that trailer I'll talk about something you don't care about um and moderately I'm I kind of stopped caring about sea of Thieves season 10 has been delayed uh until um I don't have I don't have it in me it went it went it could have been my forever game and they just went so hard in the other directions that aren't what I liked about sea of Thieves which is a shame and which we tried the other day we tried to get back on uh I have had some fun playing the Monkey Island uh expansion on my own um but yeah um there's no longer anything new to do with season nine if you've already um gone through all of that um you've already hit your max Renown level you're gonna have to wait until October for season 10. so but I think to be fair to rare this is the first time they've missed oh second time but they're pretty good at keeping consistent with and they're doing what they're going to end up doing they said is season 10 is delayed and they're gonna actually be rolling parts of season 11 into it to make season 10 like a really big one wow maybe there'll be some really really cool stuff sure would be nice drift looks great it is Nick I told you it's like an 81 or an no no it's fine you cannot make money off of it so the moment you try it's done yeah so so with so when they were emulating uh Nintendo stuff it was all good it's all still works when you're if you're emulating PlayStation Nintendo all good guys but hold on wait you're emulating OG in 360. well well well well hold on a second call your jets so it they just said no and kind of started knocking them down when they were doing the 360 stuff but the moment they made money that's when people were getting banned so the money was uh the the the 360 was we're gonna smack you down a bit the money was we're going to kick you out and it still works in Dev mode but yeah yeah it's actually a way to do it through the edge browser but anyway yeah I've heard about this you can do it in the edge browser it works just fine I mean so I've Been Told so you've been told not so I've been told participate too much work all that stuff is just too much work like I can't be asked I mean I'm I'm a pretty lazy person at the best of times but if you see the work involved in getting this stuff up and running oh my God yeah who has time for that like who has the time like it's just not me so much effort but um yeah I just found it funny that they're more than okay with you doing Nintendo and Playstation stuff and see and all the old classic consoles but the second Xboxes involved oh hey original Xbox they didn't seem to get mad it was when 360 went up is when they started yeah it was 360. that really started smacking them down yeah yeah fair enough okay so there you go cool no more emulation no more no more retail emulation yeah yes just devote Dev motor one of the nine million Android boxes you can buy and plug into your TV yeah use that instead um PlayStation have sold 40 million 40 million I mean how's the Xbox going to catch up if they don't make Call of Duty exclusive I thought they're gonna catch up because Microsoft has only sold like 15 million or something haven't they well now people are trying to say people are trying to say 21 now even though that's below the numbers we got during the trial but people are just like oh 21 23. like no that's actually below PlayStations are selling them by double man like I reckon that it's about time they let them have called as an exclusive just to help catch up yeah make more competition have more competition because that's what they want isn't it isn't that what we want don't we want more competition that's what I thought that's what everyone wanted more competition or do we just want a monopoly when it's the console we love the most is that is that the reality Maybe um I don't understand why Xbox folks are so focused on it though man like I I because always that's always been the main thing for when you look at a corporation and you want to see how it's doing and it was such an important part of it for so long it's not that do you want to know what it is you know and I think I don't think most people would want to admit it do you want to know what it is ever since ever since Sega went under in the console business that that was a very interesting moment in gaming because Sega was one of the main players when seagull went out and in the way they went out ever since then that's where this fear comes from like the reason PlayStation Fanboys was so fearful of ABK was because at the start everyone just assumed Cod was going to go exclusive yeah the idea was that would that would damage Sony irreparably maybe because Sony's not like from from a money perspective Sony is just not Microsoft and Sony don't have the stability of a Nintendo when Nintendo is happy just continuing to do what they do not making quite as much money as the other two but making money continuing to sell 20 30 40 50 million copies of their games making cheap Hardware that they make a decent profit on like Nintendo's just happy to keep doing what they do yeah and Microsoft is Microsoft they have near unlimited money so Sony is neither of those things so there was this deep-seated fear and especially in Sony Fanboys because they would know acutely aware of what happened to Sega because Sony contributed towards what happened to Sega again it's it's a bit it's a bit naive and immature to completely blame Sony for what happened to Sega but they were they had a hand in it let's say with you so there's this fear that the same thing could happen to your favorite company because it's happened once before I again that's that's just personally what I think because if you're not scared of your company going under in the console business then what's the big deal you know what I mean like why are sales so important if that's not a fear for you like I've I've never been worried that Xbox is gonna go away no um I would I don't believe that even if Cod was made exclusive to Xbox I don't believe PlayStation would go away like I've always said my my worst case scenario is that Sony's third that's okay they're allowed to be third that's completely fine I don't think people would like that I think that's completely fine I don't see them going like even if Sony was third they'd still be making a decent amount of money in third so what's a big deal well the thing that makes me laugh is people talk about how well Xbox would probably be like a terrible first place company they'd be an awful market leader and like I disagree but and also have you looked at what how Sony is as a market leader they literally do everything they can to stifle anything good for consumers they don't care about consumers they care about it is by far the worst Market later by far the worst market leader to have buy a mile the West like they're just I mean they're good sorry I should adjust I should reframe that Sony is a great market leader if you are only PlayStation yeah you are only a PlayStation and all about PlayStation if you're unwilling to ever be anywhere else because yes they don't get extra stuff for their fans so much as they make sure other fans don't have access to it don't get stuff yeah yeah yeah yeah so Sony is yeah Sony is a fantastic market leader if all you care about is PlayStation and feeling special and being made to feel better than everyone else then PlayStation is a great market leader as far as the wider industry goes and pushing the industry forward and and and just changing gaming for the better then PlayStation is by far the worst market leader you can have and I know a lot of people are going to disagree with that and they're getting but some may get upset or whatever but they are like and don't get me wrong past Microsoft wasn't great either as a market leader past Microsoft remember Microsoft didn't want to cross play in the past no yeah they're all for it now but Microsoft didn't want it in the past yeah that's true and Microsoft used to do a lot of similar stuff like PlayStation does now too in the past now the hope is that current Microsoft stays current Microsoft even if they were the market leader like the Microsoft that pushes for things like cross play and pushes for things like putting their games everywhere like that's that's why people keep saying competition is good because this this person gets their ass kicked and they have to change then they kick their ass they have to change and blah blah blah blah but I mean put it this way Microsoft viewed themselves as the market leader from 360 to Xbox One and yet they still whether you liked it or not they still attempted to innovate yeah they do I know all you I know all you saw was DRM that's all you saw but Microsoft still tried to innovate despite being the market leader they innovated with things like one guy they innovated with their connect features again good bad and different how you felt about it whatever they still pushed and they still tried something whether it failed or not they still tried something even though they came in viewing themselves as the market leader because they were in the US Microsoft still tried to innovate yeah whether you liked it or not well I would say Microsoft tried to innovate in a way that they all right should be back on oh I gotta was like 15 years ago I don't know I I don't pay attention to it I don't care the big thing was yes they've repaired their relationship it seems with the new one-month-old CEO Square Enix yes I was about to say did they repair the relationship or is this the fact that the new CEO isn't a dummy and understands that all the best performing Japanese Publishers are currently multi-uniformed and start taking deals from PlayStation the full story is in March the board elected to fire the current CEO who was then replaced in June and a lot of the feeling is he was fired and is being replaced because of how square and everyone else or I mean Capcom and all the other devs around there and Publishers are like hey we should be everywhere it's really good for business taking these deals and having a greater catch rate on PS5 but not being on PC and not being on Xbox actually makes us make far less money in the end this old CEO clearly was there from the old days I assume I have no idea because I just don't care about Square but my assumption is that this CEO has been there for a long time and it was just that's what all he knew Sony hands them a bag of money to not release stuff on Xbox and somehow they think that makes them more money in the long run not realizing that Capcom Sega uh Namco even Konami all making more money than them and they're sitting there going oh Tomb Raider sold 50 million copies and really under the performed oh but this Japanese RPG he sold one million copies and well exceeded our expectations oh my God amazing oh Jesus Christ man seriously yeah and we did have a super chat I can't type yes I mean it's great it's it's great for the people that care about Square content not me but for the people that care about Square content great news for liking both features the Xbox silently tip off a new controller revision or am I jump into conclusions you're jumping to conclusions yeah what is with that it is a scuff controller part of that controller it's like their version of an elite because I think scuff actually has the patents on back buttons so it's their version and that has the mute button on front and removable faceplates as a feature so they're just giving you an nrx case plates and anorexic don't forget scuff and raise up both have the license to use the proper Xbox controller shape and Moga that I'd have to make like this ugly other weird shaped Xbox controller that looks like a Mad Catz controller they can use the official more now like Moga can actually actually use the wireless connection and have a better shape and stuff too I like that I like that Xbox let's companies do that because Sony doesn't yeah I think they'd let scuff with scuffs yeah a lot of scuffs are actually just regular controllers that they mod so that's what they do with PlayStation they're taking Dual Senses and modding them ah right okay okay because I know that Nikon and all those other companies when they make PlayStation controllers they have to use their own shape and everything and they just look yuck yeah um but Xbox lets other companies use the official moldings of Xbox controllers which I think is fantastic yeah Fantasy game you're not missing out and wanted to try seven but then Sony dashed those streams I'm also curious what's gonna happen with Final Fantasy 7 remake I doubt therefore like so it was they extended it for that new edition that had extra content but if that's up then you could think they could start work on a port whenever yeah yeah and then and then Final Fantasy 16 not long after I would think yeah because that one was six months before PC so who knows maybe maybe same for Xbox well it's not good he said they're not gonna be able to get it done in time for six months no no don't have to start even if they started yeah even on PC we're not going to have a done in time for that yeah yeah um but I'm glad this new CEO seems like he's gonna be like telling Sony to go cram it did wanted to and so it actually sounds like Xbox has been helping like giving resources and stuff like that so they're they're fully invested yeah okay good old calling one hopefully this was a short episode so the final two entries for Games with Gold were revealed given the so-called quality of some of the games offered you might also have expected Lord of the Rings Golem to be one of them so what were your favorite games with gold in the many years they've been offered Proviso is that they have been obtained through games with gold they're not games you owned and then got offered through Games with Gold I can't answer that question because I couldn't I don't know that's a bit of an unfair Proviso like well this means is gold that you wouldn't have gotten otherwise that you ended up loving yeah yeah no I never download anything from games with God because a lot of the the big games with gold games I had bought like I bought ryze before it was offered on games with gold I bought Sunset Overdrive before it was Games with Gold um the only one that's like that for me was actually a mix pot with outer Wilds where I probably wouldn't have bought that but then I got it for free and I tried it I was like oh my God this is one of the best games of the generation yeah I can't I can't really think of a games with gold one Kalimba they gave it away 900 times through various companies like I bought most of those big games before they were given away yeah um so that Proviso kind of screws me up yeah I can't even answer the question I'm going through the list now of games God they've given every single Assassin's Creed game like every single one that's been Games with Gold um the Batman Telltale Games were good um they give that way yeah they gave away it was decent both of them name-wise or you know budget one yeah BioShock Infinite BioShock Infinite was a Games with Gold game wow yeah when two Game Pass that's why it used to be really good and had a big budget and then they're like okay The Game Pass is better Child of Light Child of Light was great um Celeste ad that would be it I did not own Celeste got a games with gold and absolutely loved it that game's great love it's gorgeous the music's great it's unbelievably well designed as a world um it just really dropped the ball in combat Dio game uh if I reviewed it it would have been probably an 8.5 I reckon well you have to say dear game reviewed with god mode yeah I do say that I said it in my Double Dragon group that was a really hard game you have to put 8.5 with god mode at the bottom and even Double Dragon I said that I eventually had to turn on some assistance because the game is very hard and part of that is the combat that's a part of the difficulties that the combat's not great which can make things cheap um but I fully admitted that I made the game easier for myself hey there quick question Gamescom is a bit more than three days away oh wow is it really that soon game it's a month away no I think he meant 30 or yeah he probably went three weeks because it's about that yeah maybe uh games comes a bit more than three days away do you think Microsoft will have a show like 2021 or do Nintendo Treehouse style segments and announcements in kids show like last year yeah being Keely show I reckon and you'll just have a really good Booth yeah they they would have announced this I would have imagined they would have announced a show already they still could whenever but they've already said their Booth will be even bigger than last year's which was very big so but wouldn't it be
