hello everybody let me get my chat open here so i can see that it's good to see you all hope you're doing well we're excited you guys have been working on your strata i have actually seen a lot of those uh pictures posted so congratulations truth or consequences new mexico that's amazing that's i know where that is i actually had a family that lived there many many years ago my grandpa's brother lived there that's how i knew about it and my grandpa sister so i had a great uncle and a great aunt and truth or consequences so jim i don't like mine somebody's watched the video and i know what it's like i don't like mine i like everybody else's i don't like mine i probably should start with that because i i cannot tell you how many of these quilts i've taught and how many people at some point along the way are like not satisfied with theirs because they're wanting it to be something that it's not being and these quilts really need to be treated like a real cl a kaleidoscope where you don't plan it and also i will tell you that whatever you choose to do with your borders will make all the difference in the world so please go with the flow and i'm looking forward to having a wonderful uh wrap up with you guys at some point in the future i'm going to have a a showcase where those of you that finish your quilts will get to show off your work and i will get to put that out live for the world to see so i'm going to encourage you with that carrot um work towards the goal of getting your quilt finished so that you can participate in that when it happens so um you guys i want to i want to say that we're doing this uh through the quilt show.com uh this is the quilt show with ricky tims and alex anderson and this is that uh online show that's delivered at www.thequiltshow.com and it's always surprising to me that we have a big family and our social media and some of you have yet to discover that we actually have an online television show that you can subscribe to and watch and we have delivered these shows to you now for believe it or not 13 years 14 we're going on 14 years because we started in 2007 so i would encourage you that if you're looking for great content and a great online family join us at the quilt show.com we're delivering these to you through facebook this video is free for you to watch and also on youtube so you can watch this they're recorded instantly so should you come to the end or you realize that you missed it you can find them on facebook and youtube but on the quilt show.com you do not have to be a paid subscriber to watch the this in the learn section so if you go to that website click on learn and then look for my kaleidoscope class and you'll see these videos being posted and you can watch those but we do encourage you to be a part of our community and we would love you to have it it's a lot of work to keep everything rolling so we would love for you to be a part of us and i know that we are coming out with a special kaleidoscope promotion so stay tuned i hope to know what that promotion is by the next video but also if you just watch facebook um stay on that and if you'll just join the quilt show you don't have to subscribe if you just put your name in the whole pot for the quilt show you'll get our newsletters that come out several times a week and you can stay in touch with us doing that so i see all the good mornings come in and i want you guys to know i see them i feel them i'm so happy that you're a part of this and i'm not going to waste any more time i want to get into the next step the first whole class was about making your strata this class is going to be making your pattern and you're going to draft it yourself and we're going to start cutting things out this particular session i expect to be the longest one because i don't want you just to draft your pattern and then not be able to work on your quilt so i'm going to give you a big bunch of things to do today now on what you're going to do is you're going to end up drawing your pattern on an 18 inch square of freezer paper freezer paper has a shiny side it's a waxy side it adheres we're not going to actually have to use that waxy side you could do this with regular butcher paper i just like to have the freezer paper because if i do need to iron i have the option so i'm going to say 80 i prefer it if you want to not use freezer paper you could use something else but freezer paper is usually pretty friendly and easy to find there's a problem with freezer paper it comes on a roll and when you pull it off if you cut it it's just going to continue to roll back up all right so my recommendation is that once you've got your freezer paper you press it on a pressing surface with a hot iron and then peel it up like so and it will be flat if you put some heat on it it will be flat freezer paper comes in 18 inches mostly there are some on the roll that are 15 inches and that would be okay i'm going through a process where we're using 18 inches and and i will tell you today how to change the size of your kaleidoscope if you think the one we're making is too small or too big so now i want you to know that when i measured my 18 inch paper because the box says it's 18 inches but the truth is it is 17 and 15 16. it is a 16th of an inch less than 18 inches so i want this to be a square so in this case because after i pressed it and measured it was 17 and 15 16 so i cut it 17 and 15 16. the bottom line is it needs to be square okay that's what we're going for and i could have just told you your freezer paper is 18 inches so cut it 18 inches and it still would have worked out okay but i'm okay telling you the truth that that extra 16 of an inch could go away and it doesn't really matter as long as your freezer paper is square all right now i'm going to go back to pretending that it's really 18 inches okay so let's just say i have an 18 inch square freezer paper now you're going to need to draw i use a pencil and i hope that this will show up this is so that i can erase if i make a a problem and i didn't on this particular project want to use a sharpie marker to show you because i don't want to have a sharpie marker running along the edge of the ruler i know i might could fix that but i anyway on all of our rulers there is going to be uh there's going to be 30 degree or 60 degree marks and there's my 30 degree coming along right here in this case it comes from the the point i want to show you that on the oval ruler here that 30 degree mark comes from the center it doesn't matter we're all going to be working with different rulers and so i want to let you know that as long as you've got a 30 or a 60 degree you will be able to mark this so what i want to do is i want to place my 30 degree line that's on the ruler on the absolute perfect edge of the paper so that and i'm going to move this just a little bit closer so that you can see i have put my 30 degree line right on the edge of the paper and this comes right to the point all right that's what we need to do and i will then draw sorry for the blurriness i'll get it situated i'm going to draw all the way across from edge to edge so i did the entire line all the way now i'm going to rotate the ruler so that the line that's the 30 degree line on the ruler is on top of the line that i just drew so that it is perfectly aligned right on top of what i just drew so that this is also 30 degrees so we've now created these very long sections there's three of them i'm going to hold it up and you can see this is 30 30 and 30. may i please tell you please 30 degrees not 28 degrees not 31 degrees you need to be very extra careful with that then you're going to take your ruler because our paper is 18 inches remember i told you it's not but it is 18 inches and i'm going to measure from the point i'm going to put the 18 inch line here i'm going to put a dot a marker at 18 inches i'm now going to pivot i want the point at 18 inches i want to mark 18 inches right here this is actually very easy drafting you guys so don't freak out about this now i'm going to connect the corner to this dot and draw that line i'm going to connect the dot to the other dot and i can tell you you need to be very careful i have had so many people make this one 18 inches and then maybe make this one 17 accidentally they need to be 18 and 18 and then you connect the dots to the dots and then you connect that dot to the final corner right now on this design we have now created three wedges and that's what we're going to call them i know it's upside down wedge wedge wedge all right we have two these guys little wedges so i'm gonna call these wedgies this is a wedgie and that is a wedgie all right they're important and you know you can't have a wedgie without a butt now if you're not in america you may not know that joke but this is what it should look like all right i've now created three wedges i have two wedgies and i have one butt those are going to be the names of your templates now we're not going to use all three of these wedges we're only going to use one of them i'm going to use this one and i'm going to now divide it into five units i want to start somewhere along this area i want to divide this wedge and i will show you in a close-up but i'm going to do one and then i'm going to do maybe [Music] two i'm going to go from here out it's almost like a braid to be honest now you don't there's no particular way i can draw it here here here you can just draw however you want it to go it's not a problem and i want it to be your choice because i want your pattern to be uniquely yours one two three so i've drawn three lines i'm going to divide this last piece and i can divide it however i choose it's totally arbitrary i just would like it to be for the most part in a half so that they're about equal in size it doesn't have to be a straight line but just somewhat equal in size all right i'm going to hold this up so that you can see it a little bit better okay so i also want to show you that when i drew the first line all the way across here i just made a nice little angle okay it's like a triangle big triangle when i drew this next line i did not go to this point i tucked in a little bit i did not go all the way to the point and when i drew this line i did not try to come up to this point just come into the line and on this one it's just dividing that in half now even though i drew 1 2 3 and 4 the important thing is for you to know is that when and it's going to be much further in the future when we sew these templates together we're going to do one two three four five and so i'm gonna suggest that you write these in that order so that you have a one two three four five next i want you to write the word nose at the bottom on that tip because that is absolutely the point of the entire kaleidoscope where the center comes together since we got a butt we might as well have another nose okay all right so the reason i did that is because on this very triangular template this template that is number five it would be very easy to confuse this point as the center of the nose instead of this so i have made sure that i've indicated the nose on that particular template now because believe it or not this is a bit of a jigsaw puzzle i'm going to make some indicators to help put the puzzle together i'm going to do let me pull this up just a little bit oops sorry about that you guys there we go i'm going to do a little a little s curve on this you could also use colored markers i've done that before so i made a little s curve on that i'm gonna do double hash marks on the next one just so that it's a different design maybe on the next one i just go zig zag all the way across so that's a different one and on the last one i'm going to put circles this is going to give me a way to know how this puzzle goes together and i know it sounds silly but honestly you're gonna be appreciating that so whether you use colored markers to make these designs or you just use a pencil with four different designs that will work out just fine all right so the next thing i'm going to do is i'm going to look at the wedge the wedge goes all the way through here this is the wedge and on the wedge not the wedgie on the wedge you've got an edge of the paper i want to write the word edge on each template edge edge on this side i want to do the same thing edge edge edge there's a reason for my madness so now i've done everything i need to do i've written edge on all of this line and on this one and i am ready to cut and start cutting this out so i'm going to for now i don't need to make a big puzzle i don't need that at all but i do want to put this right on the pencil line and i'm going to use my rotary cutter i'm going to hold very carefully you don't want this to slip and cut very carefully right on that line all the way across right for now the rest of this i'm going to set aside i'm going to need the butt i'm going to need this wedgie later i will use these wedges only as a guide if i need to layer to make sure that i've got everything sewn properly but that's way in the future i will need this i will need this i may not need these but for the pattern for what we're going to do today i need all of this i'm going to take my wedgie off and set it aside because we're not going to be doing wedgies and butts for several days and now i've got the wedge that i need to cut apart i'm only going to cut apart what i need and what i need today is number five you will need all of them but for the sake of this lesson i just need number five and when i move this out of the way i'm left with the template that looks like this and i know where the nose is i know that this and this are my edges and i know that this is going to come into the kaleidoscope so i've given myself all the information that i need for this particular template now let's go into cutting the templates i think you're with me you're doing okay i'm gonna share with you my first strata i did use my african fabrics and i have pressed the seams as i told you so that they are going in opposite directions now i want you to give me just two seconds to look at my notes to make sure i've told you everything i wanted to tell you um yep yep yep yep yep ah so that will come with this all right so i have my strata remember i made identical twins and you can see that now these fabrics are the same they're the same sizes i taught you how to cut them so that you don't make a mistake and i press the seams on this top one from the purple towards the yellow on the other one i press the seams from the yellow toward the purple so they're going in opposite directions so that i can put them on top of each other now before i go any further i want to tell you about this yellow fabric that's right here many of you may recall that in march i was having a little bit of a heart issue well mostly just a checkup but they ended up doing a heart cath to check me out and that was at the end of march or early april well guess what i had a hospital gown you guys are gonna so laugh this is my hospital gown look at that yes there's my hospital gown and i loved it so much there's the fabric is that a riot that i stole it and i'm using it in this kaleidoscope there it is right here all right so you can laugh have fun make fun of me whatever i have i have yet to uh to ever use a hospital gown and a quilt but this is a first all right you guys so now when you put your strata right sides together this is the important thing you want the seams to lock you will not be able to lock the full width of this all right but you need to lock it in the place you're going to be cutting because we're going to ultimately put a template on here and we're going to need to be able to do our work from here and work across the quilt across the strata so i only need to make sure that things are locked in this first area and here's the trick when i put these together i can't show you this this you have to feel when you feel this if you feel a raised area use your thumbnail and scratch it so that the seams will fall and lock if you feel a divot if the fabrics are let me see if i can this will be very difficult to show if the seams are not aligned i know you can't see it but if they are not aligned and there are separated from each other i will feel a divot i want to be able to push that so that all of these things are locked together and your accuracy for sewing that's where accuracy is really important right in quilting you need to make sure your seam allowances are good all the way across so that i can get all of this locked just so now the last thing that we're going to do before we cut i'm going to put this onto my strata the nose is here do i want the yellow in the nose or do i want the purple in the nose you've got five strata right now five twins five pair you can choose from any of those five what you want if in fact i wanted my angle to go higher right here this is where i would have to go back and now sew on another strip because it's not wide enough but if i tilt it enough i will be okay if i tilt it i'll be okay but i also want to check i want to check to make sure i can get six i'm going to say that again i want to check to make sure i can get six before i start cutting so i'm going to use the distance of my finger which is a kind of a half an inch i'm gonna use my finger here one two [Music] three [Music] four five six and i can get six and i know it's out of the camera but i have leftovers so this is a good thing i can get six and i'm happy with this kind of an angle i'm going to choose this is a big tip i'm going to choose the purple fabric because the fur purple fabric is modeled it has things going on a flowery fabric would work a leafy fabric would work something that has a lot of design and texture in the middle because the the most difficult part of this entire quilt is getting all 12 points to come together if you use something that's solid that is going to show up more than if you use something that's going to hide any inconsistencies like this printed purple so i'm going to go with the printed purple and i'm going to go with this angle right here remember i could i could turn it this direction too if i want and check to see if i want six there is no right or wrong you get to choose you just need to get six of them out of the project so if i go with this angle then this will be much much better and and fine it's not gonna say better it's just fine now there's a before i cut i want to give you another little bit of advice and this is going to happen on every template and this is why i want i wrote the word edge on each of those you never want a strata strip to go at a para perpendicular which is a right angle you never want a right angle coming in because the mirror image of that just goes straight across you always want your angles to come at the edge one way or the other and it doesn't have to be much of an angle it just needs to be a little bit of the angle we are going to use all five of the templates we will use one wedge because i just made five templates from one wedge the other two wedges are going to lay dormant i don't want to go this way do i want to go that way what do i want to do i think i will go this way i think this is going to be great so now i'm looking at the edge this edge has an angle and this edge has an angle so i'm good with both of these this looks good now with every template you're going to take a ruler and you're going to draw on the scene i'm laying this ruler on the scene of the nose piece you need at least three of these so i'm going to do another one on this seam i am making sure that my pencil line is on the thread the actual stitching thread that i see on the back side you do this for every template every all five of them you only do them one at a time but you do this for every five why because i'm going to lay this down and cut it i'm then going to move to the next area and i want to match that line that line and that line on the same seams i'm going to move it again and make sure those are all aligned so on this one this is where you're going to need your masking tape or a little roll of painters tape something like that i want to roll this up so it's all sticky right and put it on the back side of my freezer paper and this is where people will ask why are you using the tape if you can iron your freezer paper well look at my surface this is my cutting mat i don't want to bring an iron over here and try to iron this in place so i just want this to stay secured when i cut it i don't want it to twist when i move my ruler so if you've got a little bit of masking tape one or two pieces whatever you want to do this will hold your template in place so i'm going to place that line right on that line make sure that's on that line and make sure that's on that line and you are going to add a quarter inch on all sides when you cut on all sides so i'll put the quarter inch line on the edge of my paper and i will cut that first cut i'm now going to pick my ruler up which is why i've got it taped so nothing shifts nothing moves i'm gonna put the quarter inch line on the quarter inch right there quarter inch so that i can cut the second one and now because this is free i can rotate it put the quarter inch line on the edge of my paper and also once again make the cut okay now i will show you this because this is the first moment of magic this because there's my nose this will become that oh my god you guys this is so exciting now i want to show you something the the very point of this is blunted do you see that it's okay because my seam allowance is the point my actual seam is the point of the paper so i don't need to worry about that being a point because i've got what i need in there and even on this piece just for because it was the edge you can see it's a little blunted it's no problem because my paper which is the actual scene is right there so yeah yeah yeah that's very exciting so there's my first one i need to do this six times so i will remove this i will lay this to the side once again i now play i feel the seams make sure that they are laying where they need to lay on this one i feel a divot so i'm going to take the bottom one and just give it a little tug so that i can feel that it's matching and i put the next one on the same three lines i just want to make sure i've got a quarter inch from that point so there that will fit that will fit and that's right there i'm using my three lines to match the three stitching lines and once again i need to add the quarter inch please don't forget to add a quarter inch all right move that out of the way and i'm simply going to continue cutting out my pieces adding the quarter inch this is going to be your leftovers which you might use for border options later so even though it looks like a lot of waste for now keep those because you may want to incorporate those leftover pieces into your border i probably wouldn't save these but there's my second one and i'm going to continue doing this now until i cut all six of these with this template right you get the idea i'm going to cut all six of them and i might have some left over so that is the end of that template now i would i don't have a second strata today because i didn't need one but then we would do the same thing it's time to come now and cut out number four so i can finally remove four from here all right and then i would do the same thing i would put number four on the next strata i would draw the lines i would use the the uh the hello where did you go i moved it anyway the the roll of i just use the tape on the back side so i can cut out all six now i'm gonna have you watch a little assembly video and i want you to remember that sometimes when you cut these there are blunted edges but you're now going to work on a design wall and i'm going to tell you a little bit about the design wall okay i'm getting serious because i don't want you to cry and i know it's easy to get frustrated you want to do this project one wedge at a time one piece at a time i'm sorry one little piece at a time so i just cut out my first set which i i'm calling number five because it's going to be number five in the order of piecing later so i started with number five and i want to take all six pairs of these to the design wall now i do have a design wall your design wall needs to probably be at least 48 inches even though this circle is going to be 36 inches and you do not have to draw on your design wall but you do need to know that there's a vertical line and i'm glad i've got a little crease you're going to work with that vertical line and you're going to work with a horizontal line you might even want to put a little piece of tape i just want you to have a visual of vertical and horizontal to build this on your design wall because there are going to be three 30 degree wedges in each quadrant of your design wall and if you know where the center is whenever you start putting it on the design wall for example because i won't have that on the little video i'm going to show you if i was to put this in the center of my design wall right now and i know this is the center when i start building the quilt i don't have to shift anything i want to build it kind of in place and so then you take your pieces and hinge them over like so i'll go ahead and show you the next two might as well since i've got them see how i'm going to see this doesn't work because the purple's out there the purple belongs in here well but that's not working either because it's not the right side i need to flip it over so that it goes there and at this point you see this is a right angle because those are 30 degrees and then you take this one and flip him out and you're starting to build your kaleidoscope right that's what's going to happen now i'm going to switch over because i want to show you a little demonstration video that's going to make more sense out of it i know that you guys are asking a lot of questions and there's no way i can stop teaching to answer those questions but please feel free to go to the quilt show forum the quiltshow.com go to the forum look for the class put questions there we have moderators and i can be there to answer some questions uh for you so uh that'll that'll help a whole lot let me share my screen with you um oh i want so before i even show how to go to the design wall i want to tell you that you might start cutting six units and you go one two three four five oops what happens if you do that because if you've already cut out five and you can't get number six that would mean that you would have to go back find all those fabrics re-measure all those fabrics and sew the a new set of strata just to get number six no no no no so watch this little video in the event that that happens to you i want to show you what to do so here we go right here [Music] do [Music] all right all right so that's my little tip in the event that you do and you can't get six just go back fold back your template chop off all those that you've done add a little square onto the bottom of it and then open up the template and do that for all of those all right so now we're going to show how to work on the design wall putting it all together for you so here we go sorry oh my gosh where is my screen where's my screen there we go and here and there on the center of my design wall and simply use the vertical line as a hinge to open that up and that becomes the first what i call moment of magic for your kaleidoscope project is you continue that process now by taking the next pair they're right sides together match that edge use your hinge on the long side of this particular one and just open that up and at that point even though i have four pieces i actually have three of them that are creating a right angle because remember there's three wedges in the design that we started so three of these pieces would make the square corner as we continue the process continues now working around simply putting that up on the wall and then flipping the one that's right side together out to see the design this is pretty exciting i call it instant gratification at this point i can look and see i have a vertical i have a horizontal so i know everything is working really well one more thing that i might tell you about your first set of pieces if when you cut them the nose point is not pointed but blunted because of the edge of the fabric you still have plenty of seam allowance but it's just a blunted end instead of a pointed end you might end up with a hole right here in the middle of your quilt don't be alarmed at that because the hole won't stay there when it's sewn together because the seam allowances will bring it all together but in this case i don't have a hole but i just wanted to point out that if you do not to be alarmed it's just fine now i like to take my template at this point it's got a piece of tape on it remember and i like to position it right in the spot on one of these pieces that it matches because that positioning will allow me to take my next template which in this case is template number four and i can play with where this goes now remember this says red zigzag so i've got to find the matching red zigzag aha there's where this template belongs and now you'll know where you want to position the next set of units by using this template on the wall now it's going to help me to determine the angles that i want for my next strata to be cut remembering what we've learned before i want to avoid coming at a right angle to the edge of the wedge and you can see the word edge is written right here so this is where i want to avoid a right angle or i'll end up having a straight set of strata coming across it's not usually as desirable as having some kind of a fractured angle you can choose to have your angle go out and back which would be very star-like or you could have it have it come in and out which is sort of a chevron shape on this one i've decided to fold this here to create this angle and now by and get there he can so the point here is when you fold your template on that angle to the edge that you don't have to put the fold on a line of your strata not on a seam but parallel with the scene and i just want to make sure i'm doing what i need to do here so escape now one of the things skip skate skate escape escape escape i think there yeah so make sure that your templates if you fold the template if i was to fold this template as here on that fold and i think you can see that fold i don't need to put that lock that on a line on a stitch on an actual seam but it needs to be parallel and that way you'll know even though you've stepped away from your design wall you're getting the angle that you're hoping to get and you need to make sure that you can get all six now the next little video is moved a little bit further along and these are on my cool kaleidoscope dvd and you guys by the way this is class number two if you missed class number one you can find it on the quilt show youtube channel or you can go to the learn section at www.thequiltshow.com and you're going to make your own templates and do all of that so um so let me switch back over to the screen we're getting close to being done today you guys this is great here we go now one of the things that i always mention is that the quilt is easier to see from a distance when you're standing as close as i am and working on this quilt you might get a piece in the wrong place or upside down and you won't notice it when you're standing really close but when you get back away from it you will see any problem immediately and be able to understand how to fix it so that's just something to remember as you proceed also once you get to this stage and you have all of these next set of pieces up once again look and see you've got the vertical and your horizontal and you'll know that the piece is coming together just right also this is the point whenever you look at the first star the one you didn't like and you've forgotten about it but it's not unlikely for you to look at the next one and go i don't like it and whenever you say that to me i would say you know what just trust the process let's move on to the next set and see if it doesn't improve the kaleidoscope a little bit more it'll get more exciting before you do you need to take your the template that you just used and put it in place so that you'll know this is where that belongs then it's time to get the next template and determine where it goes all right i'm looking for green hash marks well there's the green hash marks so that must fit right here and because i know that i can now start determining which angle i want for the next piece this time i think i want something that does go star-like so i want it to point up maybe this direction so that i know that the mirror image is going to come back down and so i'm just going to fold the template on that line and now when i go to my strata i will know how to position the template on the strata the other thing that some people do and i don't always do this but it's worth mentioning is that you could take your strata if you wanted to plan a little bit and you could position the strata here so you could determine what color you might want to come in this direction i don't get that fussy about the kaleidoscope project but some people do but just letting you know that would work if you wanted to so let's take this template over now and begin cutting out the third set of strata [Music] [Laughter] [Music] so [Music] [Laughter] do [Music] grace [Music] [Laughter] [Music] so you guys there is the cool kaleidoscope i hope that you're enjoying this let me tell everybody there's tons of questions you're joining in on the second class all of the questions you want to know about how did we do this where do we get the templates how do we make all that happen is starting with the first one and you can find that at the quilt show dot com go to the learn section find the cool kaleidoscope class with me i'm ricky tims and also you can find it on the youtube channel and this is also on facebook so you can find it on the quilt show channel of on facebook as well so you guys one of the so is that not exciting i mean it's just so exciting so listen to me this is so important your goal for the next three days because we're going to have our next class on monday so i this is number two there's four classes the next one is monday and then the final one is next friday so if you want to play along stay stay along with us but please i i can't say don't get ahead you're going to get so excited but here's what i'm going to encourage you draw your paper make your templates double check that you really have 30 degrees and not 31 or 29 those wedges that i taught you whenever you cut out your strata and you build it on the design wall you will work with number five which is the center and work your way out so that you end up with sort of a circle don't go any further don't sew anything together if you do and you're gonna have a problem i can't help you i'm just telling you take it one stage at a time today i've given you meat and potatoes because we've not only drafted the design but we're getting everything cut out and put on the design wall we're just simply not sewing anything until i meet with you again i also want to say this isn't a tip and i don't know that i can show this correctly but on your on your templates we wrote the word edge okay uh here we go edge every time you put this up on the design wall and you put it in place and you say this template fits this particular area when you fold because they're face to face when you fold them out you always fold on the edge of the wedge there may be another edge but it's not the edge it's not the one that you mark so you would never fold it the opposite direction once you've got it in place then you fold on the edge of the wedge it sounds like a soap opera the edge of the wedge it is super exciting and i can't wait to see what you guys are doing again the quiltshow.com has a forum and there is a forum for this classroom so if you've got questions and want to interact a lot there's there's people in the community that can help you when i see the questions i try to answer them as well so thank you guys for such a great day and we've done all of this today in only 50 minutes i'm pretty excited i do want to let you know that we would love for you to be a member of the quilt show.com we are going to be offering a special promotion so stay tuned with the class and do that and there are also free classes that you can watch online so that you can get a feel for what this is all about and then also tomorrow saturday um d christopher has been doing live classes as well she's doing the my flower garden and many of you might be interested in seeing that um you guys are fabulous you are the love of my life i'm just so happy that you're part of my life and that we can make each other our lives a little richer just by spending time together i'm looking forward to seeing your quilts and just take it one step at a time accuracy is important the accuracy in the sewing your strata the accuracy in drawing your pattern the accuracy and cutting out each of your pieces adding the quarter inch please don't fail to add a quarter of an inch and by the way may i say that if you have a template if you end up with a template that has a little tiny edge like this don't just cut this this and this you also need to cut even if it's a tiny little bit you need to cut a quarter inch for that or you'll end up having problems and i've seen that happen before where just a little part of the it's not even a triangle it's a four-sided or five-sided piece and one little side is not cut so make sure you give the quarter inch to all those sides i think that's pretty much all the tips that i've got for you and all the instructions for today so thanks for joining me you guys um just great love you lots have a great one we'll talk to you next time okay see
