The Truth About Chelsea Handler and Jo Koy's Split

foreign [Music] were one of the most popular celebrity couples ever since they announced they were dating they claimed they were the loves of each other's lives but then they just announced their split out of nowhere and you'll never believe what actually happened between them Chelsea and Joe have been friends for a very long time they met in 2000 through a mutual friend and from then on they built a beautiful friendship after this Joe started appearing in Chelsea's show Chelsea Lately in 2007 and I guess the two really liked spending time together as Comedians and friends because Joe ended up becoming a regular on the show in fact a lot of people thought they were in a relationship because of their insane chemistry but they always insisted that they were just platonic this was until 2021 when they announced that they were officially dating after this Chelsea would often post on her Instagram about how happy she was the couples seemed to be doing well and everyone was reading for them but it looks like things weren't as good as they seemed because they announced their breakup around the same time there was supposed to celebrate their first anniversary and here's the crazy part neither of them had given any indication that they were having issues in the relationship before this Chelsea was literally posting all this praise about her boyfriend just a couple of weeks before their breakup announcement she wished Joe a happy birthday in June and said that he was everything she'd ever wanted in a partner so how did that all change within a month it really just feels like they broke up out of nowhere and here's the confusing part Chelsea said that they actually broke up a month before the announcement does that mean that they were already broken up when Chelsea wished Joe a happy birthday and calling him her best partner it's all just so weird everyone's been wondering about what actually happened and it looks like it's all pretty complicated it seems that everything was going well for these two until things not real both Chelsea and Joe have successful careers and it turns out that their careers may have contributed to their breakup a source close to the couple revealed that even though the couple was still very much in love they were facing difficulties because of their busy schedules Chelsea had been preparing for her big tour while Joe had been filming and promoting his last movie Joe said that this was a huge opportunity for him and he wanted to give this movie his all the movie is called Easter Sunday and it's about a Filipino family Joe was so excited about it and here's why Joe's mom is actually Filipino and that's why he wanted to give this his all and make sure that the movie honored his roots plus this was the first feature film that he was producing so I guess that also came with a lot of pressure Chelsea on the other hand was getting ready to go on a huge tour and it just seemed like the two were too busy to make the relationship work and you'll never guess what Chelsea had to say about it she thanked Joe for encouraging her to go for it she added that she was fired up to go on tour because Joe had ignited more passion in her for her job but whether this really contributed to their breakup or not the two have no hard feelings about it and her breakup announcement post on Instagram Chelsea asked their fans to continue rooting for the the two of them she even asked people to buy tickets to Joe's upcoming movie premiere which I thought was pretty sweet but this left many people wondering if maybe Chelsea and Joe just realized they were better off as friends Joe apparently even said that he believed that they were better off his friends but it turns out that Chelsea had a little more to say about their breakup she decided to open up about it during an interview with Glennon Doyle on the we can do hard things podcast she said that Joe had been good for her because she opened herself to love but things apparently weren't working out the way she expected and eventually the relationship had become an issue Chelsea said she felt like she was compromising and doing too much in the relationship while Joe allegedly wasn't doing the same she initially indicated that Joe was the one who helped her love again but then she actually changed her statement by saying that her psychiatrist was the one who helped her Chelsea said that going to therapy helped her to give her best in the relationship but she felt like she was bending too much and it was going to break her she alleged that Joe wasn't willing to meet her halfway because of unresolved issues from the past but also said that she didn't want to blame Joe she added that she understood that people weren't always open to Healing their traumas and that you had to let them find their own path I'm not really sure what exactly she meant here but maybe she meant that Joe had some issue that became a problem in the relationship and that he wasn't really willing or ready to work on them Chelsea felt that therapy gave her tools to have a healthy relationship but doing it all alone was going to break her but there's more Chelsea also alleged that the relationship had become unhealthy she said that when a couple couldn't communicate lovingly then there was a problem she also said that a relationship couldn't work if a couple had trouble communicating and they couldn't have a calm conversation about it I don't know about you guys but it sounds to me like things maybe got a little heated between them Chelsea also said that teamwork was really important in a relationship so that one partner didn't always feel like they were doing too much alone she said that she did so much and tried really hard in a relationship but it just wasn't enough so the relationship didn't work out in the end she clarified that neither of them cheated on the other despite what some of the allegations claimed Chelsea said that she still loved Joe and that he was a wonderful guy but she needed to choose herself Glennon asked her why she praised and rooted for him in her breakup announcement and her response was pretty interesting Chelsea said that people dealt with the pain of a breakup differently and she thought Joe needed to hear those things from her she added that Joe was on his own path and she'd support him and root for him because she'd always loved him and Joe had nice things to say about Chelsea as well this was during his interview at CBS News even though he didn't dwell on what had happened between them she said that he'd always love Chelsea and that the two would always be friends because they were friends long before they ever started dating Joe also shocked everyone when he revealed that he lived next to his other ex who's also the mother of his son he said that they've been neighbors for years they appear apparently have a good relationship because that's how it should be he doesn't believe in hating an ex and that's Apparently one of the reasons why his friendship with Chelsea will continue despite their breakup but does Chelsea regret dating Joe and risking their friendship apparently she doesn't Chelsea said being led by Joe had helped her have more faith in men she added that he had strengthened her work ethic and ambition and taught her how to use her voice she also said that she is now more optimistic about finding love because she's no longer hiding behind walls she built before she started dating Joe even though the breakup was hard for the two of them it looks like they eventually realized that they're better off as friends they clearly have a lot of respect for each other and are keen on maintaining their friendship as they each focus on
