Yay! Another Toyota Century video! I adore the Century, and I wish that we could get them here (not that I can afford one). They wouldn't make any money, because no one in America wants a 100k Toyota. They don't even want a 50k Kia. If I ever live in Japan and have a lot of money, I'm buying one. I don't even really want a chauffeur, I just want a Century.
It's just such a classy and beautiful vehicle. It'd be cool if he could somehow get his hands on a modern Century, but that would probably be pretty difficult.
Also, Doug, if you see this, The Majestic Chicken is the Fenghuang, or Ho'oh. It's a phoenix in Chinese and Japanese mythology. I still like Majestic Chicken though.
I love Japanese cars, especially quirky ones like the Hijet, and the Century. Also, as a side note, a convertible sedan version of the Century was made for Naruhito's (current emperor) coronation.
Specific to the lack of leather: when sliding in and out of a leather seat it can make a sound similar to flatulence. And the Japanese are notoriously averse to anything that sounds like that.
Fun fact: The V12 in the Century is essentially two 2JZs with two ECUs for each bank/2JZ. Hence it is capable of running on one bank/2JZ if the other bank fails.
Edit: Its actually two 1JZs, not 2JZs
Condition of that paint is killing me
How is this car registered in the US if it's a 1997?
I love this video! I have to wonder though why does Doug always cover the teeth of car keys with his fingers when he shows you the key? Can people create copies of car keys with a picture or something?
A grand-ma spec V12. What a world.
Doug, why don't you use a translate app for situations like this? Google Translate has a live feature that can translate Japanese text.
I believe that Mr Regular stated that the Toyota Century was the best car he had ever driven/reviewed.
