The Story of How I Got My Korean SOAP Shoes Sonic Plush

[Music] in the past I've made quite a few videos about this guy the Sega prize Sonic Adventure 2 soap shoes sonic plush I've made videos about the sonic adventure 2 plush said it originates from a video about all the different releases of it a video about how Sega used it on a promotional event at Hooters and of course the video about me actually getting one well not the rarest Sonic plush out there as many people claim nowadays it certainly is the best plush of Sonic in my opinion everything about it is perfect and those shoes being unique and reminiscent of a series favorite is the icing on the cake however in my video about me getting one I mentioned that my story with the plush was far from over while I did have that one if that was only one of the four different releases of the plush and plus he's fairly used so I was still after one in better condition he might sound a bit insane but one of my lifelong collecting goals is to someday own all four releases of this plush as though as being the sa-2 original the reissue of the plush from world Hobby Fair 2002 is the promotional release which has been given away by Sega many times as well as one that I thought would escape me forever the Korean Sonic Heroes plush sounds like an impossible dream huh well I've done crazier things before in 2004 Sonic Heroes was localized for South Korea by the company Y BMC so to drive up sales for the game if you pre-ordered a copy on their website you got a sonic plush as a bonus if that Sonic plushie just so happened to be a localized version of soap shoe sonic this wasn't the Japanese original instead being a Korean made re-release of the plush with noticeable differences not only does he look to be made of different materials his plastic eyes are upside down with the shine being towards the bottom he also has a unique tag and touch tag being branded Sonic Heroes when I first learned that this existed I couldn't believe it not only was this yet another soap sonic release it was different in more ways than just the tags while the pattern is a copy of the Sega prize one and this could be considered a second soap Sonic plushie given the differences however the possibility of me ever actually obtaining one was slim to none here's some facts this plush was released exclusively in Korea knowing that alone you know it's gonna be tricky to find Korea has next to no secondhand shopping sites and importing from them seems to be nearly impossible unless you know someone who lives there though with that said I do and even then none of my sonic collecting friends who live in Korea have even seen this plush before this was a pre-order bonus that was only available for a very short of time so very few of them exist in fact articles I found detailing the plush from the time of its release say that only a thousand were given away and you have to consider that this plush was released a fairly long time ago at this point so who knows how many of them are still out there especially in good condition I imagine many of these went to younger fans who understandably treated them like toys and not collectibles taking the tags off and damaging them if they only made a thousand who knows how much of that stock is not only still findable but but also in good shape I certainly had my work cut out for me with finding him but I would never give up until it happened and by some miracle it actually did so in this video I'll tell you the story of how I got what is quite possibly the rarest official sonic plush in existence this is the story of how I got my Korean Sonic Heroes soap shoes sonic plush let's begin before we talk about Korean Sonic himself there are a lot of events that happened between my original story of soap sonic video and now I'm always on the lookout for new plushies and different soaps Sonic's so naturally a lot has happened in the year or so between these videos so when we left off I had just gotten my promotional super sonic plush but I was still looking for the rest of the sonic adventure 2 plush set well I regret to say I have yet to find all of them but I have been able to get both Rouge entails and for great prices too I'll start with Rouge and save tails for the end it was total chance get this on the night of October 5th 2018 I searched the sonic toy on eBay and found this listing when it first showed up the pictures had yet to load but the listings title claimed it was a sonic X Rouge plush for only $80 but for that plush alone $80 is a steal however my jaw dropped when I clicked on the listing and saw the full pictures this isn't Sonic X Rouge this is s a2 Rouge I have never placed an order faster on ebay in my life I remember my paypal didn't remember my card information when I went to pay so I did have a mini panic attack while I scramble to enter it all but somehow no one else beat me to the punch Rouge was mine and while I realized this totally seemed like a scam listing a few days later she actually arrived she's an incredibly good shape especially considering the previous owner clearly didn't realize what they had though she isn't perfect well she does have her plastic hook there's no actual tag which is unfortunate as tags are super important to me and the hook still being here makes me think the tag fell off somehow - which is pretty unfortunate biggest flaw with her however is one that was mentioned in the description of the listing she has a small bit of one of her wings here missing and this piece of our hair is ripped open according to the seller these came from there hmm dog biting the plush sorry I just made you all picture that could you imagine a dog ripping an sa-2 Rouge to shreds thank goodness she was salvaged but these imperfections are barely noticeable anyway and given the price I paid I could care less from the front she looks perfect it's a miracle she's in as good condition as she is I am so lucky to have conveniently been checking eBay the moment this listing went up it absolutely feels like fate having not just sonic but two plushies from the sa-2 collection really was something special but this was only the beginning at the end of my original story of video I mentioned that I was in no way done with collecting this plush I had gotten a used promotional soap sonic so there was still the other releases I could get for my collection is the best one being the original Sonic Adventure 2 tagged Sonic of course and that plush still continues to escape me but I was extremely close to getting one back in January of 2019 for a crazy price of $35 yeah here's the story on December 3rd 2018 I woke up to a very intriguing tweet a fellow Sonic collector in the Philippines tipped me off saying that he saw someone selling both the Sonic the fighters sonic and super sonic plushies around $14 each $14 for super sonic no way there's absolutely no way he's tagged two I immediately hopped into his Facebook DMS and we started talking I had barely browsed international Facebook marketplace listings so this was all relatively new to me with the help of another Sonic collector who in the past has got enough fighters super sonic for $15 we found the listing is simply titled sonic collection it was a lot of sonic rushes containing fighters sonic super sonic and a larger 90s sonic plush all for very cheap we immediately DM the seller and asked if the plushies were still for sale but unfortunately they told us they only had one sonic plush left that being the 1998 albino sonic if that actually wasn't the end of the story though as a few days later the seller contacted my friend again and told them that the person who reserved the sonic law at first had backed out meaning they were available again we were going to get super sonic she then spent almost an entire week trying to get the seller to calculate shipping to America only for the seller to mysteriously stop replying after a few days and then eventually saying sorry they sold it maybe next time and that's why this video isn't the story of how I got my song the fighters supersonic plush oh well maybe someday while missing such a cheap Tag supersonic was disappointing me and my new contact in the Philippines stayed in touch and a few days later he messaged me saying that along with supersonic he also found a supersonic coming from the Philippines as well hee hee what I was sent a link to the listing and there he was not only was it a soap sonic not only was he still tagged it was an original Sonic Adventure 2 sonic he was in a lot with other miscellaneous plushies likely because he originates from a warehouse surplus lot or something like that but his origins didn't matter it was si to Sonic and he was for sale I immediately messaged the seller and eagerly waited for a response it was 1,500 pesos for the entire lot it seems which is around 34 dollars USD that's right si - sonic tagged for a little over $30 I couldn't believe it how could I possibly get this lucky was it really going to be this simple a few days passed and I had yet to hear back from the seller I messaged them on December 9th I waved at them on December 15 and they finally replied on December 29th it wasn't going to be this easy was it afraid not as 21 whole days after I initially messaged them they replied with g'day sorry sir and the sonic plush is not already available notifying me that Sonic had been sold I really missed a $30 tag si - Sonic to this day I'm still getting over it but that wasn't even in while waiting for a reply from the original seller my Philippines friends sent me a link to another post advertising another tagged sonic also from the Philippines wait wait what - tag Sonic's what is going on sale Sonic stuffed toy 1500 only original Japan item this doesn't make any sense how are there two of them for sale at the same time well at least one of these had to work out for me right I messaged this seller as well and they actually replied to me in a timely manner bit of a problem though this one was listed on November 50,000 18 well over a month and a half before I found the post however miraculously if they replied to my message On January 3rd 2019 saying yes available pop huh sirrah sir whatever that means he was still available I couldn't believe it I was so happy I could cry I was actually going to get a tag si - Sonic for $30 I told them I'd hey whatever shipping would be to America and that I would pay as soon as they calculated that if they asked for my location they told me they would reserve the plush for me and they told me that the next day they would calculate how much shipping would be it was actually happening I was going to get my definitive Most Wanted sonic plush of all time but then they went silent never telling me how much shipping would be a few days past and I asked them if they had any updates the next morning I woke up to this sorry for the inconvenience sir because the item was sold by my co seller she sold her without my concern sorry again sir huh well I definitely was not crying out of happiness that morning as it turns out and I probably should have realized this earlier if these weren't two different plushies these two sellers were Co sellers why they listed it twice and didn't communicate with each other when it's sold is beyond me but that's what happened if the original seller told me it was gone on December 30th so there was really no hope for the second seller if only I had found it sooner huh I guess the only thing to wonder about now is where did he end up I mean that was a pretty good condition soap sonic so who was lucky enough to get it well we actually know as someone who follows me on Twitter actually got it if they cut the tag and string off of it but he's being loved and I guess that's what really matters in my many releases of soap sonic video I detailed this release of the plush if this is not the sa-2 original but instead one of the many releases of him this plush is often used by Sega as a giveaway prize at various events making him the most common well relatively at least Sega has given this plush away in online giveaways at live events and even in human-sized UFO catchers what okay so after Sega Fest 2018 event a Sega had this human sized UFO catcher machine aptly titled the big UFO catcher basically it was a fun ride where you would simulate being the claw of a UFO catcher and inside of it you could win Sega themed goods you would be harnessed into the machine and then a friend would control you as if you were the claw you would then drop down and grab as many goods as you could but what could you win from this oversized claw machine look for grabs or goods like a sorted candy some Puyo Puyo plush cushions hyper-realistic penguin and lion plushies oh and also that funny sonic plush with cool shoes yep for the lucky few who got to try the machine on day one of the event you could win yourself a promo tag soap sonic if they had oh you know 20 of them if you ever want to just absolutely hate everything I suggest you look up and watch videos from this event there's quite a few where people take a rat in this machine and despite being in arm's reach of the sonic they completely ignore it yeah man the last listing of this plush on Yahoo Japan sold for nine hundred dollars but be my guest grab that lion this must be where all of that stock seen in the amazing Sega trailer the sonic cafe and similar events ended up because they had so many of the plush I'd say this proves they're still producing them but unfortunately well big UFO returned at Sega fest 2019 the sonic plush up for grabs that year was the standard joy palace sonic not so sonic a bit disappointing but fear not Sega fest 2018 was not the last time he was given away more on that later before we move on though knowing that approximately 20 new soap sites were out in the wild was not an opportunity I was going to let slip by and somehow I actually did manage to get in touch with someone who was willing to sell their prized plush unfortunately the one they got from the event was not tagged but I barely cared we worked out a great deal and I finally had a nearly new condition so Sonic comparing this one to the original you can really tell how much that one was loved well I'll always love my original it feels fantastic to have a new conditioned one hopefully one day I can also find one of these promotional ones with the tags still attached you can also tell that this Sega Fest soap sonic is slightly different in appearance especially in the face it's stuff like this that inspired me to want to collect all the different releases of a plush stuff like this is super interesting to me along with soap sonic the seller also included some really cute extras a blue Sonic beanie which forever is now on my si one Shou plush as well as these small sonic earmuffs neither fit me but I assume both of these were also up for grabs at events like soap sonic was is they're awesome extras and I really appreciate them it's amazing to own a subsonic that actually came directly from Sega if the original owner won the plush out of that big UFO machine this one was at that event to know what was once held by Sega staff is so cool and while he doesn't have the tag I speculate that's because this one was once one of the Sonic's used at Hooters as those ones also didn't have tags in other words that's what I tell myself because I really wish he had the tag but that's a cool alternative and for the record despite now having to I have no intentions of ever giving up my original as it means so much to me if I do ever get a tag promotional soap sonic this Sega Fest one will go off to one of my friends these plushies are the most meaningful official items I have in my collection and I love how each one of them has their own unique story within the past few years the popularity of these Japanese UFO catcher sonic plushies has really gone up and with that their value has gone up as well it seems we've reached the peak of insane prices on these guys however because recently at the time of me making this video a handful have gone up on eBay and completely destroyed the market value of these plushies in late March of 2019 listings of tagged Sonic Adventure 2 sonic and Shadow plushies went up on eBay therefore what I regret to say are actually pretty ok prices nowadays if they were buy it now listings not auctions Sonic was $600 and shadow was 1200 this was the first time I had seen a tagged shadow for sale ever previously I had seen a tagless one on eBay UK for around $2,000 and one on Yahoo Japan that ended at auction for around $1000 $1200 for a nearly mint condition one is somehow a decent price for it I'd rather not go on record saying I regret not spending $1200 on a plush toy but once sold at auction for 2.5 k a few weeks later and it was in worse condition than this one so in terms of net worth not grabbing this one was actually a loss this is insane if that 2.5 k listing was put up by a sonic collector who listed a bunch of their UFO plushies from around the Sonic Adventure era if they listed some si1 plushies along with SAT sonic shadow and Tails Sonic had a buy a now of 750 shadow was 1000 and tails was 400 however there was also a cheaper auction starting price too in the end Sonic's listing ended for $9,100 shadow ended for around 2500 and Tails ended for around $400 sorry tails obviously Sonic's listing was not paid for as it had a ton of shell bids on it but shadows was actually paid for this makes no sense to me did people just not see the original buy an out price it was $1,500 less I don't understand why anyone would bid that much who is the die-hard shadow fan that spent that much money on him his tank was heavily creased and his eyes were scratched he wasn't even mint 2.5 k really that's more money than a lot of people make in a month one just sold for less than half of that in better condition whoever spent 2.5 k on a used shadow but do you think you could spare me some patreon money given the seemingly impossible to find status of the official soaps you sonic quash many have taken to make custom plushies based off of a design this is something I had thought about commissioning from custom plush makers for a long time custom one-of-a-kind plushies are charming for numerous reasons but one of my favorite aspects of them is that they make for wonderful gifts back in April of 2019 I am the chance to meet one of my closest friends in person for the first time and when we met up we gave each other custom Sonic plushies to celebrate such a meaningful meet-up I got her this super adorable custom tales chale plush made by the talented custom plush maker tiny angel wings she makes excellent custom chalant pokémon plushies for great prices I highly recommend you guys check her stuff out I'll link her Twitter page in the description well I got her that tails child plush she knowing how much I love Sonic Adventure 2 and so she's sonic got me a custom super sonic plush she also got me a giant bag of sour patch kids watermelon and a bag of mini M&Ms but those would need their own video if I was to discuss the significance of those gifts this custom soaked sonic plush was made by the great people over at Sen Sunoco com better known as Lita Michelle if you don't recognize their name you probably recognize their work for decades they've been producing UFO catcher styled custom plushies with some of their most recognizable designs being their custom Sonic plushies for years I saw people with customs done by them and I was meaning to order a plush from them eventually but I never got around to it if their plushies make for fantastic gifts though and this was a wonderful surprise if they had this soap sonic made specifically for me she requested unique details like the grin and while they didn't listen to all of her requests I think the final plush is super charming and is one of the most meaningful items I own sure he looks really goofy from some angles and yes he has eight head spikes along with other inaccuracies but what an incredible gift funnily enough after completing a custom plush Lolita Michelle often adds the pattern to their website so if you have a hundred bucks or so lying around you could theoretically order your own custom soaps use sonic plush you just like this one I'll leave a link to their website in the description as well if that interests you despite his wackiness this plush makes for an amazing addition to our soap Sonic family and is one of the most meaningful items I own all right so here's where things get wacky for the past few years Sega has used this super sonic plush as their designated promotional sonic not only is he the one they used for displays he's also the one they give away at special events for example they gave four of them away at the anniversary party at joy palace and of course gave a bunch away at sega fest 2018 all of those events however were in Japan with many wishing they'd do the same elsewhere however this year Sega has finally brought the chance to win soap sonic outside of Japan where to you ask America don't be ridiculous know this part of the story takes us to Taiwan specifically a bar in Taiwan you've got to be kidding me as a former promotion for Team sonic racing Sega teamed up with the continued gaming bar in Taipei Taiwan on May 26 2009 teen if the bar held a tournament where contestants raced in team sonic racing as you won you moved up the rankings until you were either knocked out or came in first place the second place prize were these summit generations OSTs but the first-place prize was a brand new bag - soap shoe sonic you really can't make this stuff up people have actual mental trauma from not being able to find one as they sell for hundreds on eBay and yet here Sega is giving them away to a gamer bar and they gave away two of them one bagged and one with no bag but still tagged so that's two of them giving away here alone but that's not all for Team sonic racing promos in Taiwan our next stop is at that car easy kart cafe another popular spot in Taipei which is where Sega of Taiwan's headquarters are so that's likely how these obscure places got official Sega prizes anyway crazy cart cafe is a wacky restaurant where you can also drive around in carts seems like a fun place for kids so it was apparently another perfect spot for a soap sonic giveaway for this one you literally did almost nothing on Sega Asia's official Facebook account they posted about the event and asked you to go to the cafe take a photo in front of the team sonic racing display and then post it in their replies which would enter you into a raffle to win a Super Sonic I got in touch with the cafe while the promotion was still going on and while of course they couldn't help me get one of the plushies they did tell me that Sega sent four for them to give away so four lucky Facebook users won presumably tagged and bagged so Sonic's 4 from the cafe and two from the gaming bar that's six new soap Sonic's out in the wild maybe eventually Sega will see the demand and bring events like this to America we can only hope in the middle of the excitement with all of those Taiwanese soap Sonic's something I never thought would happen again actually happened on May 26 2009 teen after falling asleep at like 4 a.m. somehow I woke up a few hours later at 8 and I checked the website Macari for Sonic stuff and right there was a soap sonic once again the promotional one and he didn't have the tag but the price 6500 yen or roughly $60 USD somehow I woke up at probably the exact time he was listed as there's no way this would stay up for long I immediately placed an order and my proxy actually managed to snag it before anyone else got it $60 was an absolutely absurdly cheap price for a soap Sonic I couldn't believe it obviously I already have a tag most promotional one that's in good shape from Sega fess so I bought this one to give away as a gift owning a soap sonic is a dream for so many people and I have many friends who would do anything for one since he was so cheap I knew I could make someone's day with this I can eat sixty dollars if it means surprising someone close to me with a soak sonic the last one that went up on my car he was from 2017 and it was this si 2 tagged one for 2800 yen this one unfortunately sold before I woke up and I'm still feeling the sadness from it but this $60 won more than made up for it I was overjoyed $60 Wow man I was so excited to get him at least I was until I got this email from my proxy information of your shopping order can't sold by the seller oh give me a break dear mr. slash missed the Pat Mac thank you for your order but the seller offered to cancel the order because the sale price was too low even though we have already paid the deal and so we will file the claim to the organizer of Mercury that the cancellation was not fair I'm sorry but there's nothing to be able to do for us except for the protest thank you for your understanding no no no no come on yeah apparently the seller canceled the order without contacting the proxy and then told them they cancelled it because the asking price was too low they also told them that they canceled it because their wife really loved the plush or something like yeah okay I know the ladies love soap Sonic but if your wife loved it so much you wouldn't have sold it for $60 in the first place here's what really happened I checked the sellers other items who by the way had the username jungle Oh at the time and found this comment on their most recent listing at the time in short it's from someone asking if they could cancel our order for the plush as they would pay 25 thousand yen for it and so Celer now knowing that the plush is worth a lot more than $60 cancelled our order most likely to sell it to this guy where do I even begin first off it's incredibly rude to offer more money to a seller who has already sold an item the seller named their price we paid the money it's their mistake if they later realized they could have gotten more for it what gets me is that the seller actually cancelled our order and honored what this guy said any respectable seller would have kept our order and ignored the new guy because that's good business and morale I tried my hardest to explain to my proxy why this would happen explaining that the plush was incredibly demanded especially in America I was furious I found it first and this was going to be a gift the proxy tried to explain to Macari staff that what the seller did was not right but there was no way to save the order who knows what this twenty five thousand yen guy was even planning to do with it it can clearly sell for more than two hundred and fifty dollars so what if they were just gonna sell it for profit well guess what it doesn't even matter because a few days later after getting no response from jungle oh he listed it on Yahoo Japan that's right the seller screwed both me and the guy who foolishly offered more money for it and put it up at auction if they got roughly $900 for it I'm getting too old for this what I believe happened was the seller was tipped off by the twenty five thousand yen offer and decided to look into its value after seeing listings like the recent ones on eBay they listed it and got almost eight hundred dollars extra free for their dishonorable behavior they also changed their Makar username very clever so thanks a lot random akari buyer whatever your intentions were you ruined it for both of us in fact this probably ruins it for everyone as now there's precedent for them being listed for prices like this even in Japan you know the place where sega still gives them away for free I'm sure whoever won this was beyond excited to get a sope Sonic even if it was $900 but man come on it absolutely breaks my heart to see my favorite Sonic item of all time be used so often for nothing more than money almost every time this thing goes up for sale there's some sort of catch I wish more owners of this guy owned it purely out of love for Sonic Adventure 2 and the plush itself if there are people out there who would do anything for any version of this plush and I can speak from experience that when you really want something like this but feel it's always out of your grasp it can really beat you down knowing something is out there but literally impossible to obtain can ruin your morale and drive to collect this plush has caused a lot more sadness than happiness for most people so to see it used like this to see sellers taking advantage of people's dreams is absolutely disgusting I was obviously pretty bummed about the whole ordeal I checked Mercury's so often to make sure that whenever suddenly this goes up I'll be the first to see it to me this only proved that although was completely pointless why even try to be the first one there if someone else can just slide in and ruin everything I was upset my friends were upset and there were absolutely no positives to this scenario oh why do I even do this I'm not having fun I just keep getting my hopes crushed and screwed over about this dumb plush I have one sure he's used but I have one I don't need the tagged ones what is the point of any of this well that night while talking about it to one of my friends they said maybe it was destined to go so you'd find an even better one and well it looks like they were right in an absolutely crazy twist of fate the night that Yahoo Japan auction went up completely crushing any hope I had of saving that one this photo was discovered on Facebook by one of my friends they immediately messaged me about it and I could not believe what I was looking at he had no tag his eyes were tattered but I knew exactly what this was this photo originates from a Facebook gallery created by a user in the Philippines with the gallery being titled for sale stuffed toy the description of the post was text that simply read is supersonic that's it well the plush looked considerably used those eyes told it all this was the Korean soap shoe sonic plush I found one I actually found one however my heart sank when I read the upload date August 22nd 2017 we found this post in late May 2019 there is absolutely no way this has been up for that long with no one purchasing it right well despite the post being from so long ago there weren't any likes or comments on the image so perhaps it really did completely fly under everyone's radar in any case you take every chance you get so I quickly message to the seller asking if it was still available saying I would pay however much they wanted for it I wasn't too hopeful if this was eerily similar to the sa-2 tagged one from back in January even down to it being from the Philippines I was worried the seller would take a long time to get back to me only to tell me that he had sold already I had just lost the Macario on was I ready for another soap heartbreak well I couldn't sleep that night because I was too excited so I was still about 1 a.m. which is when I got a response their message was short and brief 5,000 PHP plus shipping I was at a loss for words PHP means Philippines Pisa is their currency this was their asking price he was still for sale after doing approximately 37 backflips after realizing I was going to buy the Korean soap sonic I told them deal and we went through the process of paying while chatting with the seller I asked if I could see more pictures of the plush and a few hours later they sent me some I was seriously amazed this was really happening sure he's very used and even his touch tag is unfortunately very faded but it was still him mr. 1 of 1000 the sonic plush only available at Korean fans in 2004 somehow by some chance we had found one I was going to get the Korean soap shoe sonic plush paying was a bit of a process as there in the Philippines but thankfully everything worked out I paid for express shipping to ensure he'd get here nice and safely and as a bonus the seller even told me they'll look out for more sonic stuff for me realizing they might be able to help me in the future I mean hey they found this guy who knows what else they could find in the future speaking of I asked them where they had actually found the plush and they told me they found it in a store called UK UK which I find to be pretty amazing basically imagine walking into a store like goodwill in America and finding a plush like this the seller told me they collect a variety of cartoon plushies there to sell off later and just so happened to have found this sonic seriously what are the odds anyway a few days later they told me he had been shipped out and after waiting a week or so he arrived you can just imagine how excited I was taking him out of the shipping box I never thought I would own one of these but now it's in my collection so now I can confidently say this is the first time this plush has ever been captured on camera online so let's take advantage of this opportunity and take a look at him the first thing I did after I unbox the plush besides you know nearly dying of excitement was compare him to the Japanese original wow he looks so different is the most noticeable difference is well everything he's like a weird bootleg of the original but I assure you this is an official plush this plush was released by YV on sisa in Korea not Sega of Japan what I believe happened was after signing the deal with Sega ybm sisa received a sample plush of Sonic to mimic for their promotion if that plush probably being one of the promotional soap Sonic's it seems they didn't have access to the original plush pattern though because it seems like this is actually a really well done copy of the original pattern and not the same plush there are just too many differences compared the shoes for example curry and Sonic has a much smaller shoe size it's like they're smooshed his hands are also smaller as well one of the funniest aspects of the plushies is muzzle as it comes to a really defined point in the middle it's almost like this sonic has a super defined chin he's so strange this is all around a really dopey version of the supersonic plush and he looks so cute because of it the colors are also different on some parts of the plush the embroidery for the mouth is a completely different color than on the original for example while these differences are cool this is clearly a cheaper version of the original plush it makes sense as this was a pre-order bonus and not a premium prize item like the Japanese original but no part of this plush shows this more than the soles of his shoes see the soles on the Japanese plush are made of a really resilient material the Sonic Adventure 1 plush said used vinyl on their shoes but that material cracks super easily the VSA 2 tails has the same issue but the sonic does not you'd have to actually scrape it off it doesn't crack over time however the Korean sonic is not as lucky as he does have that issue mine and Mini Lee has pretty gross looking soles as they're very cracked and scraped oh well given how impossible it probably would be to find another one I'm not bothered at all if the plush being so used gives it a cool pre-loved feeling to it shows you that this plush has a story I mean the touch tag is faded meaning he's probably been washed I wonder what the story behind this plush is how did it even end up in the Philippines anyway I guess we'll never know I could go on and on about how different this plush is compared to the original his nose is larger his tags are completely different his proportions are all wack and much more seeing him next to the original Japanese soap Sonic really highlights these differences this is what I was most excited for with getting the plush being able to compare him with the more well-known Japanese plush is so cool in my eyes this is truly a second official subsonic plush there are just too many differences to consider it the same plush as the original it may be based off of it but it's a different plush in the same way that the sonic acts play by play plushies are different from the sonic x Sega prize plushies similar patterns but different materials and releases if this is the most wildly different release of soap sonic and as one of the most dedicated fans of this plush I am so happy to own him I mentioned that one of my dreams is to someday own all 4 releases of this plush but I always thought this would be the one to ruin that how in the world would I find this limited botched Korean release of the plush that no one upset a Korea even knew existed until a few years ago I sincerely hope this video was relaying even just an ounce of my gratitude towards owning this plush it truly is a dream come true he's very used he isn't tagged and looks super dumb but he's one of my favorite plushies I own out of all of the plushies in my collection none are as surreal to have as this guy is if I haven't made it obvious finding mine was probably a once-in-a-lifetime chance I mean I'm sure eventually I'll find another one maybe even one with the tags still attached but finding one that was so easy to buy online was something I never thought would be possible I assumed I'd have to fly up to Korea myself and find someone who has one in person and then exchange a large sum of money for it but no before locating that Facebook post the only images of the plush we had were decade old photos from obscure Korean forum sites most of which were from 2004 when the plush came out I didn't even know if the people who took these photos stoie even owned it the whereabouts of the 1000 or so that were made are almost all a mystery to me I have friends who live in Korea who haven't even seen them for sale before when I got my plush I told one of my friends who live in Korea who basically replied with how did you get one I live here and I've never seen it like I said he's not perfect he's very used and all of his tags are either gone or washed out but I don't care at all well okay maybe I care a little bit but maybe eventually I'll be able to upgrade to a pristine Korean soap sonic but for now I'm more than good owning this plush and any soap sonic for that matter is a real morale booster waking up and seeing this dumb smile every morning is really amazing and I'm so grateful that's the thing I have the privilege of doing I know this is just a dumb preorder bonus plush who - most people has no meaning but to me he means so much during this video I've mentioned countless friends and partners who have all helped me get here I am so grateful for all of you guys pretty fitting for a plush from Sonic Heroes to be found through the help of others huh you'll notice that only a small portion of this video was actually about the plush itself and that's because the journey to get him all the twists and turns all the adventures the silly plush has put me on are just as important to me as getting the plush itself is while on the subject I'd be remiss to not mention the incredible help of my generous patreon supporters yeah I don't really talk about this much but I do have one and we've basically made the discord server a hub for diehard collectors who dive deep into this stuff for example when all of the Taiwanese subsonic events were happening we all work together and searched very hard to find everything there is to know about them we all try to help each other with finding stuff and whatnot it's a great time the fact that my videos are seen as entertaining enough to people that they would then want to support me as a person is seriously than thing ever and just wow I cannot say how grateful and honored I am for all the support these wacky merchandise videos have gotten over the years thank you all so much anyway enough sappy stuff back to the plush a few years ago if you told me I would have not just one not just two but three soaps you Sonic's one of which being the Korean soap shoe sonic I wouldn't have believed you in the slightest but here we are seeing all those eBay listings had really gotten me down about the plush why am I wasting my time searching for these when I obviously could never afford them but life has a funny way of working out and just to make things even better a few days after I ordered Korean sonic this lot appeared on Mercury it was a lot of sonic goods almost all of which being from sonic X that is besides that tails plush know just like Rouge that isn't the sonic x tails plush that's the sa-2 tails again my proxy had excellent timing and snagged it for me and now with sa two tails and my old s a1 knuckles team sonic is complete I hope you've enjoyed hearing all the overly wacky antics I put myself through with finding this literal stuffed toy is this plush worth all the adventures I go on to find it probably not but what can I say I mean if events like the continued gaming bar competition keep on happening in the future maybe someday I'll see myself fly out to win soap Sonic's in person all right let's not get too ahead of ourselves my story is still not over someday I'll be able to say I have all releases of soap shoes sonic and that's a promise hopefully one day I'll be able to make a complete soap Sonic collection video until then I'm more than satisfied with the ones I do have I hope this video has inspired you all to keep searching for your most wanted item whether it be plush or not if I was somehow able to obtain these I'm sure eventually you'll all find what you're looking for just never lose hope have lots of friends by your side and I'm sure you'll be able to accomplish anything [Music]
