foreign [Applause] [Music] [Music] [ __ ] right here the album cover it's like last week I'm still young but we're not done yet [Music] NGK your favorite rap verse you've ever written what's your favorite verse about you you've ever written third verse of the song called glass house hey appreciate you always listened so I passed out with the blood dripping the end the American music award goes to Machine Gun Kelly [Applause] enough and we have DiGiorno it's not delivering you stupid it's too short little disclaimer look I'm not gonna sit here and act like I've been an MGK fan since day one cause I wasn't I ain't gonna lie the first song I heard from him I believe was Wild Boy back when I was like a senior in high school and I thought it was cool you know like a house party kind of song but I was never really a fan like that I really enjoyed his hotel Diablo album and I was like okay I'm feeling this but it wasn't really until his album tickets to my downfall where he really made an impact on me it's like I got instant Nostalgia from listening to it I love me some rock music especially that style I know this is a hip-hop Channel but I definitely enjoy rock music as well it had an early 2000s punk rock style to it where I was like yo this is the lane I think was truly meant for him not that he ain't a good rapper because I think he's great in both but this transition into rock is the best thing he could have ever done for his career in my opinion he fits the aesthetic his voice the guitar like yo despite what people say MGK is actually really dope and look I get it some people call him corny some people might find him cringe some people might think he's just not good but I'm here to tell you that it's undeniable that this man is hella talented I think he deserves a lot more respect than what people give him he's definitely over hated in my book this man really went from this way I'm singing figures and sold 126 000 copies first week and went number one for his tickets to my downfall album selling out Arenas still doing tours and been in this game for well over a decade like that's impressive and speaking of Tours he literally just announced his mainstream sellout tour today and yeah I'm in that [ __ ] for sure Machine Gun Kelly was born on wait hold up not not this dude when you type in Machine Gun Kelly biography this dude pops up no not the bootlegger slash small time bank robber and kidnapper no Coulson Baker AKA Machine Gun Kelly was born in Houston Texas but lived in Cleveland Ohio for a lot of his life which is why he reps it so hard his parents were missionaries and moved all over the world but would eventually settle in Denver Colorado I was born in Houston Texas lived there for two weeks moved to Egypt uh [ __ ] Chicago California Texas Denver Landing to Cleveland and Cleveland's will set it on my own so that's what the [ __ ] your answer is gonna be but his moms would actually end up taking off with another dude when he was just nine years old and he obviously wasn't a fan of that I [ __ ] hated and resented that situation so much that like I don't even I didn't even the last time I [ __ ] remember her was when I was nine years old when she was with my father his pops didn't handle it very well either he went into depression and was out of work they ended up moving into an aunt's basement and he would suffer from bullying while enrolled at Hamilton Middle School his dad didn't really help at all so to soothe the pain he would listen to rappers like Ludacris DMX and Eminem and he was also a fan of guns and roses Blink 182 and Lincoln Park The Bullying kept on at Thomas Jefferson High School and things got a little crazy for him he would have some run-ins with the law from basic theft to stealing CD players and then at 14 he caught a felony charge for a crime he wouldn't say but people digging deep into his songs found some words that mentioned how he shot at a car in a jealous rage his pops ended up getting a job in the Middle East and left MGK on his own and it was at this time where he started experimenting with drugs but also dabbling into music this is when he made his first demo tape stamp of approval in his aunt's basement back in 2007. [Music] 00 [Music] his pops would then come back and he would end up going to Shaker Heights High School in Ohio the same school that Kid Cudi went to actually he would then take his music seriously at this point giving out his tapes all around and his fans would end up giving him the name Machine Gun Kelly he was actually facing eviction in 2009 and ended up traveling to New York City where he would participate in the Apollo Theater in Harlem where they had an amateur night competition winning round after round and eventually number one the first rapper to ever do this and now and it's crazy because Harlan was the first place I ever got my first rap check what yeah I want I want I won the Apollo I was I was the first rapper it was that 2009 damn 45 45 I did not kept the Checker framed it his pops would then kick him out of the house and I don't know when exactly in his life that this happened but I read in an article that at one point he was homeless and addicted to heroin it would last for about two years but he was able to overcome that through rehab and counseling things would start going crazy for him in 2010 though when he ended up on MTV's show Sucker Free Styles oh [ __ ] son hit the camera who can think understand [Laughter] needed to paint and speak any phonics never care about Mr Webster said let us Marco read my dictionary got caught up in this Webster Wonderland [Music] and he dropped a mixtape called lace up which would feature a hood anthem for a city called Cleveland in March of 2011 MGK participated in the first ever South by Southwest show in Austin Texas [ __ ] hell yeah [ __ ] yeah it's my first time ever here this room is looking real empty I was super nervous man I'm not happy everybody everything we've ever worked for led up to this day this was like the one Festival of the year that gave new artists like myself a chance that pulls every big name in the industry out to watch out for who's got next so I'm looking at myself like yo kid you cannot [ __ ] this up you know I'm saying like I have a whole team depending on me I had Cleveland depending on me most of all I knew I had to do it for like the thousands of kids out there who fought for me and believed that like this dude who's just like them could really make it and you know I knew I had to do it for them so the all hip-hop and Vibe House Performance was our first show for the day and I was always going to set the tone for the rest of the day so me and slim Port up you know I'm saying got all raised juices flowing said a prayer hit the stage and like I said though I've never felt the way I did like I had like before in my life than I did today so something about our presence on stage was even different it was like this intense but uh like extremely excited burst energy and I looked everyone out building like dead in the [ __ ] hot like yo my name is Machine Gun Kelly and I am a problem so you know after that it was a wrap our next show was a fader Fort and this was the one and no one could even believe I have a slot to perform on because I guess it's like you know like the elite [ __ ] it's like the big big South by Southwest so for New Orleans and I never felt so much pressure in my life because of that you know it was like that was the kids who had no clue who I was like everyone was there so I was just like [ __ ] but you know I've been an underdog my whole life but I had the DNA of a winner also so this was the moment that me and my fans waited for my whole career like the hour to eat to give me a chance to be in the mainstream so as soon as they announced my name my legs the [ __ ] up and was like Showtime I don't give a [ __ ] that no one who Machine Gun Kelly was when I walked in there because by the time the last song went off I made sure everyone in there was like yo that kid is the [ __ ] truth you know like I left my heart on that stage and proved that you can overcome any [ __ ] adversity thrown at you you know I came from Cleveland I came from rapping burritos mopping floors pushing carts cleaning toilets you know what I'm saying to being given a bottle of some fancy ass Champagne by Puff Daddy after a show in front of thousands of people in Austin Texas you know which is like so far away from from where my name fan base is you know I'm saying you can't tell me I'm not going to become somebody in music you know what I'm saying you can't tell my fans that either today was the best day of my career and you know we we proved that we're meant to be here and I plan to celebrate at the released a music video for Wild Boy featuring that boy Flocka Drop It Low he then went on to release an EP in March of 2012 half naked and Almost Famous which includes the song see my tears which bruh I cannot believe I'm hearing this song 10 years later for the first time like I'm gonna admit that holy [ __ ] this song gave me chills for real I looked so much he then went on to release his debut backpack full of Andres what if I don't want to work boss I don't get along with name tag on the shirt s but I'm just being real a little responsible but I don't really give a [ __ ] are you [ __ ] like before you you know so I put I had a special effects makeup artist coming put Thorns all over my hands and I put it in the front of the camera as the main focus not my face but as I mean like this is what you guys see yeah but if you look a little bit farther and you wait there's a beautiful you know there's a beautiful being about to come out and I think people are just now seeing that and I think that I I kind of felt that and it's like it's like a confidence album so like this album guys it's just a Vibe you know what I mean and if you it's like it's almost like one of those apps where if you don't like it then you don't like me being happy which is whack which is completely white yeah his third studio album Bloom would release on May 12 2017. debuting at number eight but selling 57 000 copies first week to the arenas from the street lights I got issues just like you got issues I've been hurt I've seen the scar tissue shoot two times [Music] when people counted me out even came out he already had that rock star aesthetic before that plus he ended up dropping a whole rap album after that diss with Hotel Diablo so I don't know I kind of found it biased how people just rolled with m just because he's M you know but it is what it is does it personally pain you that you have this [ __ ] Feud with this guy I don't feel any type of way about it I mean I'm like asleep in my tour bus this [ __ ] guy drops an album with like three songs consecutively talking about me what the [ __ ] you think I'm gonna do just [ __ ] you know you can like roll over and go back to sleep the [ __ ] out of here you're not gonna hold me so I don't know like I'm like I said what I said and you know respect like the fight that's it he also dropped his second EP this year called binge which actually wasn't very well received with critics citing lack of lyrical content unique sound and the artist's dependence on his Feud with Eminem as reasons for low ratings and the EP only has one star on the US iTunes Store I don't know if that's all of Eminem's stance putting one star on his [ __ ] I have no idea but the EP is I it hits the story about the time that I smoked everything in my inventory for the Glory Charlie lately oh yeah and he was also featured on Mike shinoda's album post-traumatic on the song liftoff bruh what an underrated ass song bro and MGK yeah tell me about it apparently I liked it enough to get tattoos out of my head not I love it man I'm uh I'm really proud of it I'm proud of I feel like uh it's an evolution album for me like a mature album definitely realize that um I don't know if you saw the cover but it's like a kid picture of me and um I I realize that that ended up being the picture that became the cover uh because it like it felt like I was addressing some things from as a kid that I you know I wanted to say the whole time and it I sit four albums later I guess was the time I chose to do it yeah what are some of the themes that you touch on uh in this record lyrically were there things going through your mind stories you wanted to tell yeah I had uh been through something business-wise that hurt me deeper than some other than a different type of hurt that I never knew someone so close to me uh just did me really wrong and I wrote the song Hollywood horror about it you sat at the table with my daughter promising you got us right after you finish saying grace I think I'm okay it was uh funny enough you know like we're sitting there like searching for an Anthem and in different ways and then like the anthem ended up coming from these simple guitar chords and me just kind of like you know saying I'll never forget when I was like watch me take a good thing and mess it all up and one night everyone was like whoa for one night like with that that line right there because we were I mean before the young blood and Travis Barker uh thing came to life which I already had in my head the second I started laying that song I was like they have they have to I have to have them on there Hotel Diablo is MGK's fourth studio album that released on July 5th 2019 and personally I think this was the album where he finally gained that respect or actually had that Word of Mouth from people praising it like casual saying yo this is actually hard you should listen to this some of my favorite tracks online that people were clowning him saying that he doesn't really play his guitar work here at Guitar Center that's my day job today we got an interesting new guitar and Machine Gun Kelly signature three days pretty impressive funny thing is though the original album cover was supposed to be this but it ended up changing shortly after all the physical copies were already printed and shipped just I love you Jeff and ended up releasing his first single for it called paper cuts which actually got a cold Bennett music video for it [Music] only for us and Travis to find out that the album wouldn't be called born with horns anymore okay we're friends no matter what right of course okay remember when um remember when we got the album name the new album name tattooed on our arms I'm chasing the album now okay what's the new album name yeah that's pretty funny he also dropped the song Love race featuring Kellen Quinn super fire track bro [Applause] it's actually going to be on mainstream sellout but only on the CD as a bonus track he would actually end up engaging to Megan Fox in the beginning of 2022 and apparently they drank each other's blood or some [ __ ] Megan said yeah I don't know that's that's pretty weird if you ask me but yeah he also ended up performing for the NHL and where he announced he would be performing at halftime foreign and apparently a lot of hockey fans were coming at him because there's no halftime in hockey which I ain't go live fam I didn't even know that I don't watch hockey so it's funny because he ended up saying this on his Instagram okay this is kind of uh you know what I'm saying moment um hockey fans are mad because I said I was performing at halftime but there's not a half time in hockey which I don't know because I know nothing about sports um but you know what I'm saying you know what I'm saying when they're not playing I'm gonna be performing you know what I'm saying he then went on to drop three singles for the lead up to his next studio album with emo girl a and maybe I just did an interview with my eyes closed I ain't gonna lie fam the cover for this album it's just not it for me bro it definitely looks worse than tickets to my downfall in my opinion and it just looks I don't know it looks like a bad 2008 Rock album like it just I don't know honestly the physical covers are way better than the digital joint but he went on to say this someone said don't bring out the rap devil man listen LOL what my brother Marshall did to this dude MGK is light compared to what's waiting if you want to walk down that street with me ain't nobody worried about a dude who paints his nails F out of here listen bro to me he sounds like someone who's just bitter and jealous as [ __ ] if we really being honest MGK is one of the headliners and he deserves that [ __ ] his last album was a huge success and is way more relevant right now as an artist than Joyner is and that's just a fact Joyner isn't as hot as he used to be so yeah stay mad kid and he even folded and doubled back talking about them damn Russian hackers done hack my phone yesterday like what no ah bro you folded like some napkins fam like the peak of your career album and now you have to follow that up so now what you know it's difficult after tickets came out having this urge to make another rap album paw Punk's so fun and I also feel like I owed it to my discography and to myself to show that tickets to my downfall wasn't luck like no I can get I can get a number one album in rock and overall twice him and Travis had an itch to get back in the studio and you know we said you said you should do it you know what I mean like they have a great chemistry and they have a great Vibe and he he's able to take feedback and listen and it's turned out to be great art that tour that I just did was so energetic and so fun and we have this huge Arena stadium tour that we're about to do I want to own the Summers you never forget the soundtracks to your Summers when you're a kid you know future or the blink 182s those people resonate so many years later with us because they they were a part of our fun times you know what I mean in the world's so dark it like robbed us of fun for years now so it's like time to get back to the fun and I just wanted to be a part of that you know I want to be nostalgic for for Our Generation 10 years from now take us to my downfall was like High School in this album is like college and it's a blend of like everything I've learned in my years of musicianship this is the new genre this is this is the new this is the new wave with this album I think it's it is going to be we're going to do it again we're gonna do it again and and our journey has been a long journey and we're just now getting to this point so I think we got we got so much more left in the tank just getting started my friend always jokes he's always like rich off pop punk and it's like I know that it it kills like certain bands in that community that I got the success that I got but I earned that [ __ ] dude I was [ __ ] loading up the van with our drums and amps in 2010 going to drive into Indiana and Chicago and always plays nominated for a Grammy for Best Rock album it ended up losing to Ozzy Osbourne though my man really out here still winning Grammys that's crazy MGK was actually interviewed after he lost and I found the interview to be very interesting to get his point of view on where he's at at that moment him being nominated alone is an amazing achievement how are you feeling are you nervous together uh yeah I kind of always feel like I don't fit in here so you're like a rock and roll incarnate you know a lot of exterior to hide the interior you know growing up who are some of your biggest music in Park Wayne future I don't know a lot of a lot of people how does it feel to be nominated from your peers it was almost like enabling a problem I already had which was this validation I keep seeking from so I keep talking about like the exterior my interior is is like is shattered so I really need I I keep procrastinating Bill like rebuilding my interior and like learning how to have self-worth by covering with this exterior and like it enabled me to be like you know even when I was walking around I'm like no fingers crossed for the Grammys man fingers crossed and every single friend of mine or every peer was like bro you already won look at your life what do you mean like you already won you already won and I was like no no like one that you know I was like oh you know the city is going to be proud of me when we do this and I'm thinking back to two months ago in Cleveland we just had 50 000 people in a stadium at a show at our show I I just I keep looking for these things and I didn't win tonight and I was really this oddly exorcism happened where I was like wow like all of the things that were wrong with how I was viewing my self-worth left on the right here and I uh I'm very grateful like I'm very grateful to have learned the lesson I learned and you know next time next time I'm here I'll be a Grammy award winner you know yeah yeah there you go yeah so I'm very grateful amazing for this experience and he even has his own graphic novel too which is also pretty dope hard cover copy Hotel Diablo graphic novel Edition [ __ ] sick this is not what I came here to show you but it's on my desks so I made this book last year it's really [ __ ] good he ended up dropping a deluxe to mainstream sellout too with a Fire cover with one of those songs being a very deep one called last November and I wish I could go back to November last on August 13th of 2022 the mayor of Cleveland actually officially named that day Machine Gun Kelly day fire I'm mayor Justin Bieber the
