pokemon special a brilliant manga adaptation of pokemon written by hindu nori kisake initially illustrated by mato and later illustrated by satoshi and mamoto you may have read it but what don't you know about it let's find out with the pokus bay iceberg thanks to super rising thunder on tumblr for creating this and giving me permission to use it i really hope i do it justice green and blue name swap in the original japanese red's rival was named green and the female character is named blue when this was localized to english their names switched red's rival became blue and the female character became green this was done to reflect the names of the generation 1 games which were called pokemon red and green in japan and pokemon red and blue in english fans still refer to these characters by both names although i've personally seen a lot more people calling the guy green and the girl blue satoshi's quote in the series satoshi to jerry the creative pokemon and ceo of game freak has publicly endorsed the series and has been quoted as saying that pokemon special is the closest thing to his original vision for the pokemon world vr box scene during the red blue green arc there's a scene where green is battling cougar during which green charmeleon graphically slices kogusa bach and off this scene as well as a couple of other things is often pointed to by people with no or very little knowledge of poke spay as evidence of the series somehow being extremely dark and adult from what i've seen most of these people if they've read pokus bay at all i haven't read past the first arc and have a pretty surface level understanding of what poker space actually is pokemon special equals pokemon adventures in japanese the series is called pokemon special whereas in english for series is called pokemon adventures just like with the green and blue name swap fans continue to use both names but pokemon special is a bit more common pocus bay poker spay is a portmanteau of pokemon special used by fans to refer to the series decks holders and titles out of the making of this video every pokedex holder except so and chili have titles for example red is the fighter yellow is the healer gold is the hatcher etc etc etc this i believe was first introduced towards the end of the gold silver crystal arc where they were explained by oak and elected gold and played a decently silva being giovanni's son before heart gold's all till then although an npc in the fire red leaf green games alludes to silver being giovanni's son by revealing that giovanni had a kid with red hair this wasn't actually confirmed until an event in hot gold soul silver which allowed the player to travel back in time to witness a scene between them however silva was confirmed to be giovanni's son in pogus bail long before the release of heart gold soul silver with this being revealed during the fire red leaf green arc i'm not sure about the magazine release but volume 25 which contains this revelation was initially released in 2007 two years before the heart golden soul silver games so what happened here did casaka extrapolate from this bit of dialogue did they have secret intel we don't know [Music] what's under ruby's hat during a climactic scene in the ruby in south iraq vivi removes his hat to reveal scars these are from an incident in which him and sapphire were attacked by his solomons as young children i'm glad they found a narrative used for that dumbass heart although i wouldn't put it past ruby to make such a questionable fashion choice on his own illustrator change around the release of volume 9 in 2001 macho made the choice to step down as illustrator due to an illness which left her hand weak and unable to draw satoshi yamamoto picked up her mantle and began by illustrating crystal's mini arc in an interview with anime news network kusaka cited mato's decision to leave as the toughest moment in the last 20 years although he also stated that the massive hiatus the arc only finished in april of 2020 which is a seven year gap from when it began and all the time black was stuck in the light stone and everything was lacto white too sodo and chili lactu in white two or blake and whiteley are the protagonists of the black two white two arc and certain chili are the protagonists of the sword and shield arc i'm not too sure what the century is referring to specifically but it could be their names which break from the tradition of naming protagonists directly after games and they're just generally a bit odd particularly for the light too um sorry if i've got that wrong why is greninja's ability wise great injury at croakie has the ability battle wand which is an event explosive ability allowing greninja to temporarily transform into ash greninja from the anime in the games this transformation beats greninja's base stats and the strength of the move water shuriken as well as rendering a couple of moves ineffective against it you're the mvp to me this is a piece of dialogue that green says the blue and this is english translation in the fire red and leaf green this is not what he says in the original and in other languages he says something along the lines of you talk too much the most likely explanation for this is that one of the translators was an old rival shipper or something and viewer of a dialogue in the intent to see it through this apparently changed this line later because subsequent releases instead feature green saying you always say one word too many how the name pichu came to be in the gold silver crystal arc gold hatch is the first name pichu and is the one who names her species peachy was the child of reds pika and yellows choo choo so gold decides to make a blend of these two nicknames and call it pichu he then nicknames the pichu which he just named for training on mount silva chapter a two-part special of red and gold training on mount silva together was featured in pokemon the comic a comic book magazine released in 2013. this chapter involves gold's peachy being kidnapped by some wild pokemon and it's just overall a pretty nice addition to the series so no one beyond character titles the titles given to the pokedex holders up until sinnoh makes sense and are used in a text but from sinnoh onwards most of these titles aren't mentioned within the actual story they just kind of have them who gave them these titles when why and why did they call x velouna pokemon snap is canon todd when pokemon snap appears as a relatively major character in the animal dog and at the end professor raikkonen films him as an island with lots of pokemon and asked them to go and take pictures on it so pikmin snap canonically exists in the pokes bay universe and takes place somewhere after emerald [Music] heart gold souls over and make a vbl for sapphire places in timeline both the hot gold soul silver and auras arcs can likely take place before diamond and pearl despite being released ended with the senior decks holders being de-petrified and the heart gold soul silver arc was five rounds shorter bibi was never white's pokemon bibu or gigi in the english translation is white's topic which was liberated from cedric juniper by anne a year prior from the events to black and white running away and being found by white it returned to end later in the arc rachel in a preview of the volume release after it was pointed out to yamameto on twitter pokemon ranges as manga as canon kusaka and yamameto didn't only work on pokemon special they also notably collaborated on a manga adaptation of the pokemon ranger spin-offs known as pokemon range of a comic double mission in the final round of a platinum remark diamond receives a mana fee egg from looker and the characters from and was serialized in completion on sunday i found some japanese scans over three musketeers which has some pretty nice artwork in a similar style to pigs bay poly was a dex holder in the magazine in the magazine publication of ruby and sapphire wally accidentally registered his name in the third home pakodex and became an official pokedex holder this obviously didn't happen in the volumes where he returned his pokedex to professor birch i reckon this was probably done to make room for emerald as the 10th decks holder or just because wally was more of a side character than the protagonist lysander isn't dead it was the editor's fault lysandre is seemingly implied to be dead near the end of the xy arc as the last time he appears he's lying in a pool of his own blood after taking a massive fall asking melvin why the ultimate weapon hasn't been fired yet however yamameto is stated on twitter that he isn't actually dead we have no idea what happened to him after his final and personal appearance but i can't imagine he's in the best shape diamond's mammoth wine had the first hidden ability [Music] femin's mammoth wine male had the hidden ability to fix that which helps the damage of pokemon takes from firing ice type moves hidden abilities didn't appear within the games until generation five meaning that moo had the first one kusaka and yamamoto want to spay anime this is another one that i couldn't find anything about but who wouldn't want the paper spay anime please for the love of god give me a poker spay anime [Music] you
