THE PARABLE OF THE TEN VIRGINS || DR DAVID OGBUELI ||

[Music] dr comrade come back one more time get your mics please give them mics [Music] [Applause] [Music] foreign [Music] [Applause] [Music] forever [Music] [Music] we're going to discuss the 10 virgins i think it was last night i mentioned that there are at least seven parables or yeah call it parable some of them were not even parables per se that jesus gave as it relates to end time prophecy after the month oliver discourse help end inaudible christians or believers make it and he gave different type of lessons for example for ministers in the same chapter 24 where he made the discussion he discussed the parable of the faithful servant he's not even a parable per se that particular one who is that wise and faithful and talk about two kinds of ministers they he talked about the talents in chapter 25 he talked about the sheep and the goats which is the discussion on how nations will be judged and so on and so forth one of the parables he gave to discuss two kinds of believers two kinds of christians that you have as we are waiting for the return of the lord is the parable of the ten virgins in it he divided into two five good five can we find the place i think we need to read it and project that story first we need to read it first uh maybe pastor ben you will read for us and then after that is matthew 25 after that remember that this matthew 25 is the continuation of matthew 24 on prophecy it is grouped into chapters to make it easy for study but is the same thing that is going on until the end of 25 that mount oliver discussed did not stop on entire prophecy so this is one of the things you can see the one i use when we're doing the session on politics the parable of the tires and the weight that parabola is also dealing with the last days so this one deals with two kinds of believers and there are tremendous lessons we are going to learn from it so instead of you know just having maybe one of our speakers speak on that i want us to you know kind of dissect it and pull out a lot of lessons out of it okay let's do the reading from chapter 25 matthew chapter 25 from verse one pastor thank god then shall the kingdom of heaven be likened onto ten virgins which took the alarms and went for to meet the bridegroom and five of them were wise and five were foolish they that were foolish took their lambs and took no oil with them but the wise took oil in their vessels with their lamps while the bridegroom turret they all slumbered and slept and at midnight there was a cry made behold the bridegroom comet go ye out to meet him then all those virgins arose and trim their lamps and they fully said unto the wise give us of your oil for our lambs are gone out but the wise answered saying not so lest there be not enough for us and you but go ye rather to them that sell and buy for yourselves and while they went to buy the bridegroom came and they that were ready went in with him into the marriage and the door was shot afterward came also the other virgin saying lord lord lord open to us but he answered and said verily i say unto you i know you not watch therefore for you know not the day not the hour wearing the son of man comment okay and you can see from there he went into another parable but we'll stop here but you can see from verse 10 that why the foolish veg the five of them went to buy oil they should have bought it beforehand now they are trying to get ready when it's late when they went to buy oil the bridegroom came and they that were ready went in with him to the marriage and the door was shot so this whole thing is about being ready see what is going on prophecy has two sides it has the prophetic perspective and the strategic perspective the prophetic perspective is where you gain knowledge of the times understanding of what is coming what the future holds the strategic perspective is about what israel ought to do in the parables these seven parables he told he gave us strategies each one has a lesson each one has his own lesson you can see the one we use today about parallel kingdom the tars and the wheat and discussing by engagement impulse each one has its own lesson if you get into the parable of the talents you see where he told him to occupy till he comes so a believer that gets lazy say he's waiting for the lord is this so he's violating the strategic teachings that jesus gave while we are waiting for his return he didn't just tell us about the future he gave us instructions on what to be doing now what how to be getting ready how to be involved in our world till when that time comes for example in the middle of matthew 24 and i think tomorrow that one is going to be coming up we meet verse 14 where he said this gospel of the kingdom telling us what we should be busy with in the midst of all of these things happening in the last days till the day he comes and to start with he predicted his return on our obedience in fulfilling the great commission this gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in all nations as a witness then then then then the end will come so you can read about all the prophecies and forget to find out what are you supposed to be doing what are the strategies for the church what are our responsibilities and many times the people who teach prophecy only frighteners with earthquakes and antichrists and other and at the end of that i'm trying to know what am i to be supposed to be doing and so that you make believers who just feel like okay we should just be there and be watching there is nothing we can do i've had somebody use that word in this conference concerning this there is nothing we can do about it that is not true that's the mindset that the church have had for every prophecy giving there is errors a role for the church there is actually a strategy hidden people are not looking at that that's why they are not seeing it the lord made it very clear to me that there is nothing in prophecy that is designed to frighten his people or to paralyze his people in between the lines we should be looking out for strategic instructions from the master and here is one for christians you are going to fall into one of the two categories either the ones that cause wise virgins because both are virgins they are good believers that's why they use the word virgin to talk about them there are both groups are believers the discussion here is not about unbelievers in the parable of the time the witch details our unbelievers and how we are supposed to be playing our role in the world we live in as believers in the midst of satan's children but in this particular parable it's about how believers should prepare and as and get ready for the coming of christ so that that day does not take them unaware that's the context of this discussion so we're going to get into it i want to ask for a contribution before we open up the full discussion you remember you brought it yesterday and it was worth repeating today the moment the door was shot and i want to read the verse again verse 10 and why they went to buy the bridegroom came that's jesus written and then we already went in with him to the marriage and the door was shot then some other people now came after and let's see it verse 12 verse 11 afterwards came also the other virgins the foolish ones saying lord opened to us and he answered and said verily i say unto you i know you not go and discuss on that the door was shot because there are people who believe that there will be second batch in the rapture when he finishes they will give a second chance for another group they left behind group and that's where this left behind christian ideology came from and then they will get another boot you know after noah's act has left there will be a second one provided to gather up the left behind believers is there anything like that here sir please i want to know if there is a second batch so if we miss the first flight we can wait for the second one yeah so you know this matthew 25 is particularly significant for me because it's one of the scriptures that god used when he called me to preach the gospel this parable this particular passage now the the people who are saying that after the church after people have gone in with the lord there will be a second chance for people to repent from their sin you know you hear them say something and then those people will now pray with their own blood they will receive their salvation with their own blood as if our own blood can save us lord of jesus could not save you what may what what can your blood accomplish your own blood can now save you if our blood could seal salvation they can as well do it no of course we just die and then we'll be saved but it doesn't make sense the other problem with that is that it is consistently contrary to scripture consistently contrary in this scripture now the bible says as soon as the five wise virgins entered and the door was short there was no second opportunity these five wise foolish veggies now they have the oil which they didn't have so minutes or hours ago but the door is closed and nobody is going to open it again and let me something frightful that i saw in that scripture see what they said they said lord lord open to us that is the same lord lord in matthew chapter 7 yes not everyone will say lord lord lord shall enter shall enter but those that do those please put it up matthew chapter 7 verse 21 put it up he said exactly the same lord lord please expand this that thing and give us one life from verse 21 21 this particular uh-huh is not everyone that says to me lord lord shall shall enter into the kingdom he are saying lord lord but they could not enter the world that will enter are the ones that don't do the will of my father which is in heaven so they are doing it the master arrives and finds them doing it he takes them inside the door is short some other people want to now get ready now no it's too late now it's too late in in luke chapter 13 the lord jesus christ said when once not twice the master of the house has risen up and he has entered inside and then you begin to stand outside and you are knocking put it put it up look that he's from verse 24 from verse 24 looked at him from 24. so he says strive to enter in at the narrow gate the straight gate for many i say to you we seek to enter but they will not be able next verse he said when once the master of the house has risen up and has shot the door and then you you begin to stand outside and you are knocking on the door and you are saying lord lord open to us he said he's going to say to you i don't know you where you are coming from i don't know you because if you were under my authority you should no longer be on the other side you should have come inside with me now now put the next verse so you see the thing say then shall you begin to say we have eaten and drunken in your presence so these are people that have been going to church people his ultimate probably we are cheating we have drunk you taught in our streets we are members of your congregation verse 27 look at the next verse he says but he shall say i tell you i don't know where you are from i don't know whence you are depart from me all of you workers of iniquity so what disqualified these people among some of the elements we're going to find out is living in sin you can see that you workers of inequity there is no man living in sin that is ready for rapture there is no christian living in sin that is ready for a rapture there is no minister living in sin that is ready for rapture there is nobody living in sin that will make it if you want to repent you have to do it now before it's too late that's part of that deception of sin it keeps people going assuming that the master the master is not running on your timetable yes that's why he's the master he sets the time and then you assume that you can arrive anytime you like and then enter that's not the way the kingdom works and this principle let's give another contest the genesis contest of noah the genesis contest i want it read so that the people can hear it i think it's chapter seven you know when god shot the door of the ark and in most of the cases he is the one that decides when the boundary is drawn yes genesis chapter seven um when no one entered the act possibly find it and read for us from verse 16. so those that entered male and female of all flesh went in as god has commanded him yeah and the lord shot him in the lord shot even noah didn't have the key to open the door of the act he was not the one that closed the door he said he's the lord that shot him in so just like us we don't have the key and surely people who came knocking on that ark when initially when the rain started it didn't look serious but as the thing was increasing it became clear that so this thing knew i was preaching is correct after all i can imagine people about to drown pounding on in their thousands open open open but the door was shot and then you can imagine if you are new and you are inside and and a cousin is crying an empty is crying outside and your in-laws are crying and your wife is telling you please that is my dad crying that please or maybe that's my mom they had the gospel all this while nobody wants to repent and believe the gospel now at this moment there is maybe one of them calls you with your name self i am my son have you forgotten i'm the other brother of your father or ah you know my daughter are you married you are my in-law my son-in-law what are you doing open for me and that's why god was the one that locked it because human being might want to and i don't know what probably happened to noah a lord's wife that made him made her tumblr whether it was her jewelries or what or maybe she was also considering her children they are also left behind children in sodom did you hear that what there was a second chance for them did you hear that there was a second chance after noah's flood and jesus in more than one places has repeated the same thing after the master has gone in there won't be a second he actually denies every other person that is outside and those people know him as lord lord lord open for us you used to preach in our street we used to eat and whatever with you these people are veggies they are christians what happened to them okay okay let's even take it further use matthew chapter 7 verse 21 so that will look at what disqualified not everyone that said to me lord lord shall enter the kingdom of of heaven but those that do the will of my father which is in heaven verse 22 many will say to me that the lord lord have we not prophesied in your name and in your name have cast out devils and in your name don't wonderful work this wonderful work is miracles so this includes evil ministers even people that god has used people that have been used with the gift of prophet he didn't say they were prophesying with demonic power he said in his name he didn't say they were doing miracles with power of the devil he said in his name but then what is the problem why were they left adverse to the next verse then i will profess to them i never knew you depart from me either walk in equity uh uh doc the evil bible god says it in a unique way that agrees with the other scriptures that talk about similar things he said those that do anybody he said indiana do you know what it means those that are working for god while breaking his laws they are serving god but they are breaking god's moral laws they are living in iniquity they are workers of iniquity the moral issue that we raised in the morning but they are doing miracles and prophesying and doing all that there was a case study in the morning about that lady jezebel in a new testament church i was into this profession and into whatever meanwhile you know messing around with the men and women that are called into service in that place so you see that that man is not ready there are other components to this discussion but i want us to know that when people usually talk about the 10 virgins one aspect they go about is anointing oil i think is everything is just having an anointing on you we're going to go to that is part of it they talk only about anointing i'm even going to tell us something the oil the lord was talking about is not anointing or poem for miracles and healing is the indwelling presence of the holy the anointing for living the christian life the indwelling that inner power to live the christian life that's what he's talking about there it's not all you to prophesy if he's all you to prophesy these guys who have gotten in they didn't like that but they lack the anointing in their personal christian life that empowers you to live godly to overcome evil to live like christ here that's what got those men into trouble that inner anointing is what produces the fruit of the spirit and that's part of your readiness that you are walking in godliness and walking in this walking like him so most of the time when that because i see how the predictors look at it when you talk about that or you're going to buy or and we're going to get to that now you know get on they think about having the gifts of the spirit and i believe to work in miracles and all that that's not the anointing upon is for service for help others is there anointing within that helps you that will take you to heaven it's the indwelling the inner work of the holy spirit that's what will take you there that's what we need to start paying attention to many people have already dried in their life and they are busy prophesying i'm doing all this singing and all of that and there is no christian life nothing because sin seeks to get in there and quench the spirit sin seeks to get in there and grieve the holy spirit so the bible say grieve not the holy spirit by which you are sealed until the day of redemption till the day jesus comes to get us so the oil is important but it's not this acrobatic display and other that one is good to advance the work of god and serve and and and drive the kingdom of god forward but it is those that are doing the work but living the life you remember the scripture everyone that strived for mastery must do it lawfully please put up that scripture you read it for us paul said they do it to obtain a temporary crown or whatever win a gold medal we will do it to obtain second timothy chapter two from verse five yes rexa and if a man also strive for masteries yet is he not crowned except he strives lawfully so this person is in a sports competing for world championship in this or the other it could be a heavyweight box i could be a wrestler but he after fighting they take away the crown for him they refused to crown he broke the rules he broke the rules he did not strive lawfully you see people who are doing the work of god and breaking the laws of god breaking his moral laws people who are doing the work of god going everywhere at it was it a paul okay complete this one we'll go to where paul said let's after i've preached to others i will be disqualified but finish with this one yes verse six six the husband man the labyrinth must be first particle of the fruits okay let's now go to the other scripture um first question chapter 9 from verse 25 you know and every man that strivet for the mastery is temperate in all things yes now they do it to obtain a corruptable crown but we are incorruptable so they want to get if it's world cup you hold that call for four years you have to surrender it and come and play again if it's election you win it's four years you have to come and contest again or it's over whatever they win all these prizes they pay it's just for a period and it's also a corruptable crown that don't last we whatever we get is going to stay with us forever the rewards that god when they give you a crown of righteousness a crown of shepherds cry any reward you get in eternity is going to be forever any position you are made a prime minister of anything when he said he's going to make the ruler over his house it's going to be forever but see the amount of price people pay for four years of power for appointment that will last for two years and so on and so forth okay in sports those who compete in sports are disciplined enough the world is temporary that is self-control is disciplined they watch what they eat they they exercise they have to come and play and practice to be ready for the competition you see the ones who do music competition they're always training and practicing exercising their voice so they can go there and win we too are competing for something we want to get a crown we want to get well done good and faithful servant and be rewarded when he comes then go out of us the next verse 26 i therefore still run not as uncertainly so fight i not as one that beated the air 27 but i keep under my body and bring it into subjection lest that by any means when i've preached to others i myself should be a castaway i myself should be a cast away yes please let's read the whole thing in amplify start from verse 25 again now every athlete who goes into training conducts himself temporarily and restricts himself in all things so he's teaching us what we are to do as wise virgins who want to win the crown he has gone they do it to win a wreath that will soon wither but we do it to receive a crown of eternal blessedness that cannot wither verse 36. therefore i do not run uncertainly without a definite aim i do not box like one bit in the air and strike him without an adversary but like a boxer i buffet my body handle it roughly disciplined by hardships and subdue it for the fear that after proclaiming to others the gospel and the things pertaining to it i myself should become unfit not stand the test or be up be unapproved and rejected as a counterfeit ladies and gentlemen if we hear that this is paul the apostle so paul it's possible for paul to be rejected and he had that fear he said i had this fear so he makes me discipline myself i know there are those who look at it and say is being disqualified from the price even that is bad enough but this is being rejected as a counterfeit being unapproved preaching the gospel to others so this affects believers and it affects ministers read it one more time in niv for verse 25. everyone who competes in the games goes into strict training they do it to get a crown that will not last but we do it to get a crown that will last forever therefore i do not run like someone running aimlessly i do not fight like a boxer beat in the air no i track a blow to my body and make it my sleeve so that after i've preached to others i myself will not be disqualified for the price so you see people can finish running the price the gold the crown they are disqualified from it and you see you see that what in sports they do to prevent this is disciplining their body and then strict training street training it's a coach that was talking to me i think was two weeks ago who has helped some of our very powerful and popular football artists get to the world cup especially the group that brought us the world cup and he'll be calling their name and he will tell you when this one got disqualified why this one that yes he's very talented but this guy is very in on discipline how they will be abroad and they have a match the next day the guy will go to a club drink womanized that night and they have the rule that you can't do that and some of them because they became very famous and popular the coach can't control them anymore they will go finish women and they come back late early in the morning and they can't get enough sleep and there is much the next day and then they straining in the morning they won't come because they still need to sleep and he gave me called names of up to six major footballers that used to be superstars had a lot of money and they are broken and they are under on the on the sideways and he will tell you how this other one remain relevant till the end so the same thing that affects even christians and men of god in running our race and fulfilling alcohol affects people who are exposed some will be disciplined until they start getting small fame and small money start entering their hand and then they throw caution to the wind and the coming of christ is on the door and the judgment seat of christ will follow that okay doc you have not said anything let's go to the parable of the virgins there are a lot of lessons there please sir yeah what strikes me what frightens me in that parable is the fact that this will knew what to do but they thought that their timing was better they were deferring what to do to a more suitable time accordingly so they knew they needed oil they knew the master could come but they thought well they had their plans if mind finishes bro you see i'll collect from him but they did not know it could fail well i know him i'll call him he'll open the door the confidence with which they called and he responded sure that there was a relationship but they did not know that this man could do what he did so sometimes i think we have become so familiar with god we have not let his other side and that that's why paul said it's a fearful thing to fall into the hands of the living god this all loving god can be so tough to say to somebody he's invited to say i don't even know you you don't know me my voice i was here so sometimes we defend now we don't have every time to do what is right and some of us god is saying deal with this matter deal with this mother i will tomorrow i will i will i will and the i will sometimes never comes until it's too late i was i'm teaching on jesus invitation to for peter to pray he said pray with me three times he called them and they kept sleeping when they wanted to pray when peter wanted to fight he says no since you couldn't you couldn't address this matter when you had the time whatever you do now the timing is lost so he was going to do in the flesh what he would have won in the spirit and even the year he removed god put it back because there was a time frame to do what he should have done so sometimes we miss the season and then whatever we do thereafter becomes a waste so part of the problem with these ones is they lacked the assignment of the time they took grace for granted and then they didn't know that they must they got too familiar with the master and they did not know he could be that tough that had that bad did you guys hear all that they didn't have understanding of the time they thought there will always be time they kept postponing is this procrastination thing even i'm praying for myself about that one when god tells you to do something you keep putting it off thinking there will be time and then they got familiar with the master and took his grace for granted he will always forgive you know i will call him lord lord just forgive me for that time but you can see now that there is a time when jesus this merciful gracious jesus do you know people that have been to hell we have one in our church she died in an abortion table and went to hell other people who talk about hell talk about standing and watching other people this was not the difference a girl she's a banker an investment banker in lagos and it was her boss her senior you know and she's been a very strong christian from secondary school university but not in lagos the corporate world and what goes on and this relationship started and then a pregnancy came out of it so the guy kind of provided money let's remove it and you know but now in attempt to remove it her own went wrong and she died there she is her life today telling her own story but when she tells the detainee shook the whole church in legos because what happened is that she actually went in to hell and was experiencing he said this is not reporting from standing on the corner watching other people what happened to her and he said the sad thing is that she was crying to god for a second chance for mercy and every other person was crying and one man has been there according to her 500 years before she came you know that that particular richmond that jesus talked about who knows how many years he has been there till now as at that time jesus was talking because that was not a parable he was talking about a real person that particular rich man as at that time that was 2000 years ago who knows how long he has stayed before that time and then how long now see that the guy is still burning this lady met one of the person inside born in with her about isaiah at that moment she knew 500 years she knew that her case was not hopeless he said there is no ending of crying and the torture and the nationality because she's been a christian all her life and it was this one satan used this one and if you knew you were going to die you wouldn't have done because that's another thing about this sudden coming of the lord while we're waiting for his return it could be death today no but you don't have control of that and immediately after that you can't repent again you can't change anything thank god for some of these people have been given a second chance to return to the air to tell their story this is the first time i was hearing somebody that actually went inside hell and you know she she told the center when she came back because the argument she was making to the lord returned me to the earth let me be a blind and deaf let me live out the remain even if it's just two years so i can repent and put things like and let me be crawling in the streets of lagos never having anything to be a beggar than to be here god said but i give you everything give you beauty give you education gave you all the opportunity you wasted all of that then she argued he said lord a lot of people hear about this they don't know that is real do you know that even me i did not know that is real i'm shocked at this and another thing is that i did not know that a christian can come here i have been on a heart he said they were at the front forefront of secondary school revival and they can put survivor this is a very short believer he said i didn't know that even a christian can even come and i didn't know a lot of people don't know i will go everywhere if i have to crawl if i will not eat i will tell them i will warn them after that you can take me at least i know i will come back he said for some mysterious reason when she raised this issue the lord responded and brought her out of that place and an angel brought her back and then she saw her body where she was then and put her back into her body and she came back here she had grabbed her for weeks she wasn't taking her back she wasn't eating she wasn't going to work she wasn't she was just locked in only you know and the lord said that's not what we agreed it's not you locking yourself and living holy you don't want to interact with the world however the reason i brought you is that you will promise and you're going to go everywhere want everybody then she said lord but you know i'm not married if i tell people i did abortion and a lot of people respect me he said for example my father would be heartbroken he he knows that i'm a christian another and then some people bread and what will happen they don't believe i was doing that kind of thing he said i'm warning you if you don't keep and that was how she started and the kind of thing she will open up and say in the public you have to you must have gone to hell to be able to say it at one time i wanted to be frightened for her i hope somebody will marry you know but she did it faithfully yes yes i think was just last year or last year before covet and she got married this one is dominion city this is not you know you can hear stories or whatever this is a banker a professional in lagos and i can bring her here so you know one of the things that touched me about her story when she said the lord will come and cry he sees people he weep his heart is broken but he can't help there is a time when it's too late that's the scripture you read when the master of the house has written and gone in and then you start crying from outside it's too late it frightens me to my call so it frightens me to my inner muslims yes sensing here now there are people that god has been contending with over issues and they have been deferring if we would take a minute sir and pray there are people here you have been deferring for whatever reason well let me address let me settle this um let me do this first i will i will tomorrow might not come for everybody so if you permit one minute i think let's pray and somebody needs to do it next yeah i'll do it after i get married somebody literally i do it after i graduate no i'm not ready for all these things now i'm too young i want to enjoy my life first i can and god has been warning you dealing with you the word of god has been coming confronting that issue is only you that know what it is you and him this is the moment this is the moment this is the night why is this warning coming if the rapture has occurred i think it's about someone but i was saying it this morning that many people here will not go what is that what is that if you feel like to come to the altar come if you feel like to come forget about anybody don't care about people just like that lady that i forgot about without her father and of course her whole family had when she started telling her stories that not the whole world headed the whole church had it so what forget about who you kill to help with who is everybody have to deal with their issue if you want to come to the outer come god is putting into you to come come when you come don't look at anybody just fall before god and all of us are going to do that including me that is here all of us but there's people that god wants to take that step and come here there are things you have to drop this is that night you're not going
