here is old trafford one of the most recognizable stadiums for one of the most recognizable teams in the world manchester united and they've been around for a very very long time i've covered the history of this club before from their days as newton heath lyr all the way up until today when they're a huge premier league club who had a good result here last night against liverpool in 2005 majority shares of the club were bought by the glazer family and in protest today a brand new team was set up fc united of manchester were born out of the protests against the glazers buying manchester united they have now been here for what 17 years there were even protests here last night so with it being quite a topical um debate at the moment between man united fans between the owners of their club i thought why not check out the non-league manchester united funnily enough the fc united of manchester stadium is actually out towards the east of manchester further away from old trafford and more towards the etihad um had a bit of a drive together all the way through manchester city centre it's not far distance wise but because i had to drive through manchester at like five o'clock in the afternoon it took about half an hour to get here but yeah we're approaching the stadium i think they used to share with berry i want to say but now they have this place i'm not sure if it belongs to them fully i'm not sure if they share it with anyone but hopefully we can find out a little bit about this place tonight [Music] [Music] firstly just thank you for showing me around just briefly here looks like a fantastic park you've got um just can you introduce yourself first to everybody watching okay so my name's dave asher i'm one of the directors of fc united and can you give everyone a bit of context about why the club was set up and how long you've been going so obviously the club was set up 17 years ago for those who watched the man united liverpool game last night it has seen no end of protests and all the banners and the flares and everything else this has been a protest club for 17 years um and i would argue it's the only real protest against glazers um that has continually taken place throughout that 17 years of course and that was the whole reasoning a lot of us decided you know it was time for something different some for some people who were against modern football for some people they were against moving kickoff times from uh you know three o'clock on a saturday uh to friday nights sunday afternoons monday nights etc etc so um and and for others it was also it's becoming soulless a lot of football grounds in the premiership you're being told to sit down shut up and behave by stewarding that was over over a vicious uh and so eventually the glazers coming in was the final straw for most people um certainly the people who came here and um it was just a question then realistically of saying look there's got to be a different way you know why should we pay his mortgage while he lives in our house and and that certainly you know a lot of us related to it you know because even now even though they've taken nearly 2 billion pound over our football club in 17 years since we were formed and since he acquired the club this still owe half a billion even now they still know half a billion so they've everybody keeps saying but but the glazers are putting 100 million every season into buying players the glazers aren't it's not them it's the club's generated revenue generated revenue you know they've not put their hand in the pocket at all they've taken almost 2 billion pound out of the football club in 17 years and so you were speaking then about the fans sort of going against modern football and the stewards and stuff obviously i've seen online that you have quite a good attendance record here um the fans come out they make some noise i can see the terrorist sections all behind me as well so how many do you usually get at games and do people actually love this level for saturday games we tend to get around 2000 midweek games probably more like 14 1500 because just like manchester united had fans all over the country fc united have got fans all over the country so some people struggle for evening games um but we've recently just come back from rimini uh in italy having just won the inaugural phoenix trophy well okay which was a trophy that was created for non-league football teams from around europe all like-minded social constants football teams teams that are at the heart of the community um and all eight teams uh who we had two groups of four all eight teams in the end went to rimini for the finals and four played four three played three and we we topped our group so we played prague raptors on top their group and we won the trophies amazing as european champions well congratulations on being european champions and just final question for you then yeah um getting like one thousand five hundred to two thousand fans per game what level is that at level seven so tier seven that's an amazing record for this tier i mean it's effectively a level three and only tier seven you know if you start at the prem and there used to be a banner i don't know if it's still around it was uh called the ten division love song yeah because when we first started back in the northwest counties 17 years ago it'd have been 10 promotions to get us into the premiership well one day maybe you'll get there perfect thank you so much the name of this stadium is broadhurst park and it's fantastic then just to get shown inside quickly i'm here an hour and a half or so before kickoff as i usually do um to get clips of the outside and just kind of get a vibe of what's going on um but yeah while i was here i'd introduced myself to one or two of the guys in and around the club shop who seem like they work here and then i get shown around i get to interview someone from the club as well so i hope that gave you a good bit of context a huge thank you again to all the people that i've met so far and for being so welcoming and just showing me around quickly i will be buying a ticket to go in um and just see it from a fans experience as well but really good just to get a quick inside look at the club and the changing rooms as well how cool was that but i just want to say a massive thank you to all the people who have subscribed to the second channel i have now started a second channel so when i come to these games obviously can't get the vlogs up till the next day and so i'm gonna start posting clips of the games and the videos that i film a day before i upload them to the main channel just so you can kind of get a steer for what's happening let's get up to a thousand subscribers um as quick as we can a huge thank you to the 500 or so who have already subscribed only spoke about the other day in the newcastle video so a huge thank you to all the ones who have subscribed absolutely love the support i'm getting just now please hit that like button please subscribe to this channel if you aren't already as well you're the first fan i've spoken to today you're over just now from australia is that right that's right uh i i came over here for a music festival it was in bristol okay um and i've been seeing as much football as i can particularly going to uh fan run well run clubs here and so why this club today then this club offers such a refreshing take compared to the vulgarity of the money in the the premier league i love the idea of fans running the club owning a club and uh the the club being a pillar of the community yeah it's a really good um idea from clubs to do this kind of thing are you a manchester united fan yourself i'm not uh i'm more of a football fan than following any particular uh club even over here um but that's why i've been trying to get to uh different clubs that that really uh started the community yeah and a pillar of the community and that's kind of why i'm here checking out fc united [Music] colin i've just asked you a question you're a fc united manchester fan but are you a manchester united fan as well i used to be i do keep an eye on their results nowadays but i'm not as rabied as i used to be so would you say that more people who come here are just fans of this club were fans of both i'd say they were fans of both you can see the difference if united are at home at the same time as we are or they have an early kick off say 12 30 or at 5 30 we always get about a crowd of about 2 300 it's less okay than normal so there are still people who who go yes who would prefer to go and watch the bigger the bigger two united okay are they gonna afford it and so um what do you think of the glazes i haven't been to old trafford to watch you know i've only been there once since the glaciers took over and and that ticket was brought by by uh i make their mind right okay i haven't actually bought a ticket or a shirt or a bit memorable not merchandise or anything is it down to the glazes you think then that it's turned a lot of fans off even going to the club then it's partly you can't say they haven't put money into the club but they've taken so much money out of it that's the other thing yeah you know never a team that's never been club has never been in debt i like to think how much the debt is nowadays um you know and it's but they still you know when the manager wants players they still pay out so you can't really say that they're not doing anything for the club people say it's the facilities of the pitch and the training ground from what i viewed old trafford is which was the theater dreams is now the fate of the nightmares but there's not a lot you can do because of the number one the you know the railway being next door to it yeah they'd have to do and could you really see them knocking it down and restarting no i'm not sure because whereas spurs at wembley they could go to there's only one ground yeah in manchester that they could go to you really see united go into the castle [Applause] so [Music] oh [Music] so i should probably actually uh explain a little bit about the two teams today so here we have fc united in manchester fc united manchester fans what'd you actually call yourselves do you call yourselves united fc fc united what's the kind of short name you'd use for yourselves but yeah fc united manchester there and they are playing nantwitch town who are over there um non-twitch town have two draws and a loss and their first three games whereas uh fc united in manchester have had a little bit of a better start so i think they're fourth or fifth in the league at the moment rfc united manchester united sort of down towards the bottom so i would expect these boys to be picking up all three points today but as you can see filling up quite nicely here with man united and fc united manchester fans as well [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Music] is [Music] [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] yes [Applause] i do find it funny how um look all these fans here all this amazing stadium this fantastic pitch nantwitch town fc united manchester seventh tier of football mate friends not melina's all these amazing banners all these people here today the managers all of these people are here today because of the glazers in a funny weird way i bet the glazers didn't envisage that once they bought manchester united that an offshoot like this would ever be made [Applause] [Music] on this week's episode of our kilt you're winning the answer is yes finally i think for the first time this season half time here nil nil let's hope the second half is a little bit more exciting in terms of football but the atmosphere for a midweek or 70 game has been fantastic how do you think the first half went um it's quite boring bit of a boring game are you man united fans as well as fc united who do you prefer which team this one or the big man united uh recently i'm on united they haven't been playing that well so probably fc yeah they'd say man united did you say fc and what do you think the final score is going to be one one new you reckon yeah i reckon it's going to be 2-1 2-1 to nantwich welcome would you [Music] one two [Applause] absolutely nothing has happened in this game there's been barely any chances and the goal is ruled as offside [Applause] [Music] despite what's been a terrible game of football i've started a really good time with they obviously got shown around inside earlier on met some really cool fans as well on and off camera um i think it was leon i was just chatting to off camera for most of the second half really nice guy um so thanks to him for keeping me company didn't want to be on the video um which is fair enough but um yeah really impressed by the atmosphere here today again despite being a nil nil people would have just stopped singing and gone home which to be honest i i felt like doing the points um but um i do feel like again for a tuesday night when there's other football on the tv tonight and midweek to get a good turnover this and the noise of it it's fantastic [Applause] [Music] so there you have it the non-league manchester united what did you think of them um obviously they are their own club in their own right but i make the videos these titles so they get a few more clicks and you guys see them and it promotes the clubs as well as much as the video does well for me i really like to promote these smaller teams and uh really would encourage you to go and watch football at this level football today wasn't good it was nil nil um i still had a fantastic time as you would have seen the atmosphere there was great and they probably get about as many people there as maybe some championship teams do in scotland maybe for their games um so yeah really really quality day out met some fantastic people like i said when i was in there so um yeah really enjoyed myself what do you think of it it's strange isn't it in a weird roundabout way this club was formed because of the glazers um obviously the glazers have been terrible for man united that is what 99 of the fans will tell you of course um so yeah it's uh it's down to them that this club even exists so so um every cloud and all that please hit that like button please subscribe if you're new and please go and subscribe to the clips channel as well be great if we can hit a thousand subs on there um you know whenever as soon as we can alright guys thank you so much for watching and i'll see you in the next one
