wide waste of time and call you blessed in the name of Jesus and everybody that showed up here tonight for one of our midweek services here at open door church guys I'm going to be talking about the title my sermon tonight it's called the mystery of marriage guys if you have your Bibles with you please open that up to John chapter 14 John chapter 14 and we're going to be starting off with verse 1 and then going down to verse 6 I have the great privilege of doing a friend of Mines funeral on Monday and I actually love doing the funerals of my friends I don't love that I have to do a funeral but I want to tell you whenever you get ready to do a funeral and when it's a godly person you know there is just stuff you just need to celebrate about that person's life and I cannot stand to go to a funeral or some Joker who doesn't know what in the heck he's doing just gets up and reads on the Bible and condemns everybody and then calls it a day so ridiculous like dude if you're not going to bring the kingdom shut up sit down how'd Olivia and you know the importance of being able to glorify the Lord and be able to honor the person is is a really big deal and I want to tell you man there's about a there's about a million pointone funerals every week throughout the planet Earth did you know that so if there is I don't know 500 people mourning the death of someone this week that means that there are 500 million people that have their hearts broken right now right this second and oh my goodness guys the importance for the body of Christ to be the good guys not to try and control people not to try and get in and fix people but just to say you know what we're here to love you and to bless you and to help you well there's not hardly ever been a funeral that I've done that I haven't read from John chapter 14 is like well I thought you're preaching on marriage well marriage funerals you know it's kind of the oh no no actually it's funny that we always read this at funerals and it's I mean it's fitting for a funeral obviously but he's actually talking about marriage so here it is John chapter 14 verse 1 this is Jesus himself talking King Jesus greatest person ever he says don't freak out let not your heart be troubled you believe in God now make the step and believe also in me in my father's house are many mansions and if it wasn't so I wouldn't told you that now I go to prepare a place for you and if I go and prepare a place for you I will come again and I will receive you to myself that where I am there you may also be and where I go you know and you know the way and then Thomas said to him Lord we do not know where you're going and how can we know the way and Jesus said Thomas I am the way the truth and the life no one comes to the Father except through me this last statement GD says look if you're confused look at me because I'm perfect theology if you want to know what the way is look at Jesus if you want to know what the truth is look at Jesus if you want to know what life is all about look at Jesus it's like don't try and figure it out just just look at me my God if the body of Christ would just fall in love with Jesus and let Jesus be the way the truth and the life and not all of our religious traditions amen and just go in I want to just tell you I'm not against traditions traditions are not the devil I promise you they're not traditions become the devil when you think your traditions or God I got all kinds of traditions I got all kinds of cool things I like to do man there's stuff that is so uniquely Texan that I love I love me some Texas amen are there anybody in here who loves Texas amen and her stuff man that's just Texas cool man I'm a part of all that kind of stuff and I love that but those things are not God because see I am NOT a resident of Texas I am a resident of a heaven that is actually living in Texas I'm just passing through amen and so this last part of this says Jesus is perfect theology so if you believe it about God but you don't see it in Jesus your theology is wack if you believe God hates everybody as mean as ugly and you don't see Jesus being that way then your theology is wrong amen I could go on and on and on and on and on and but I just want to just tell you that Jesus is perfect theology if you're brand-new in Christ get you a red letter Bible that has the words of Jesus and just start reading the red letters find out what does Jesus say how does he say it and who does he say it to because he is the way he is the truth and he is a life we're not here to peddle Church to anybody we welcome people coming into our church we say hey man if you're a part of our time if you're part of our tribe jump in do the water is warm hallelujah but we're not here we'll listen we're not helping people we're not feeding people we're not redeeming people because we want them to come to church we're doing that because we are the church we are the body of Christ and that's what Jesus does as the Bible says let the redeemed of the Lord say so are there any redeemed folk in here amen I'm redeemed me too man I'm redeemed so it makes perfect sense for us to demonstrate redemption by redeeming human beings guys this week we are going to hit our 500th liberation from sexual slavery this year this week five hundred five hundred girls who were literally slaves before the body of Christ set them free man I'll tell you what that's what it is we got to be famous for amen we should be famous for that well if you get back up to the top of this what he says in John chapter 14 verse 20 says let not your heart be troubled don't be freaking out because you believe in God believe also in me and then he says this in my father's house are many mentions and if it wasn't saw what it tells you that I love that I love how Jesus goes now you do know I'm not lying right have you have you ever talked to somebody and said now this is no lie it's probably a lie if you say that I'll just tell you it's okay I want to tell you something dude and this is not a lie okay well Jesus is actually telling the truth when he says there's ain't no lie I would not be telling you this if this was not the truth and I love that you know he's trying so hard to be assuring because they're really having problems with what he's saying and I mean Thomas just goes man why do you keep saying that I know the way we don't know the way I don't know where you're going and I don't know how in the world to get there he said just just look at me Thomas you got this you know how to look at me aren't you glad guys that just Jesus makes it so simple for us so he has a statement he says in my father's house are many places to live all right and then he said this he said I go to prepare a place for you this is verse three and then he said and I will come again and receive you to myself so that where I am there you may also be if you want to know what the agenda of Jesus Christ is for him coming back is to come back and get you he wants you where he is he wants to share all that he is and all that he has with you because he loves you that much you know I you can really tell when you love somebody because whenever you go and do something cool you're like oh oh you know what pastor Darrow would love this oh I love Darrell man Darrell would love this or you're somebody go oh my gosh oh my gosh I gotta call Jerry and Jerry's got to be here oh my gosh I gotta call Rhema raimus got to come here oh my gosh right well Jesus is like that on steroids I mean he's off the chain and he is ready man he is ready to share all that he is and all that he has with us I was like well I'm scared of the dead gum zombie apocalypse whenever Jesus comes back dude you don't know Jesus that's why you're scared if you knew Jesus you and me scared well shouldn't like to me all hell is breaking loose dude if you see in the news all hell breaking loose right now Amen Jesus had coming back to fix stuff so well sure like me coming back with ass or he gonna beat up some folk yeah the people that are after you the people who want to kill you he's gonna show up and he's like nananana nananana no no more of this I'm grateful come back quickly Lord Jesus amen but he says it's a really cool thing guys this really is Nate Nate he says in my father's house are many mansions he says I go to prepare a place for you and then he's like so if I come here and if I go to prepare a place for you then you know I have to come back because this is a Jewish mindset listen it's very important and this is why we need people like the Messianic Jewish Bible Institute to teach us how to see if you're a rotten Oh steak and bacon ain't and Gentile like I am and you know your 6th generation Texan and you just recently Messier and you know you recently met your first bunch of Jews in your life like well I don't know how to see this through a messianic I you know I guess we need people you know you need the best friend like I do with brother Jerry right there I get a text from Jerry every single day you know you need good friends with in your life we see this well well what's real is when Jesus was talking to people he wasn't talking to a bunch of Italians he wasn't talking to a bunch of Texans he was talking to a bunch of Jews and they knew exactly the language he was talking because see in the Jewish culture how it worked is this if you want to marry somebody I mean you had to come up with a dowry and then when you come up with a dowry you go to the person and you say I'm in love bad now look here honey I got all this money I mean you go down to Mexico that's Delbert McClinton that's not the Bible I'm sorry I love Delbert McClinton anyway so oh so he's like okay you show up with a dowry you offer it to the family and when you offer it to the family you paid this price and it's going to be it's going to be your whole world it's gonna be all that you have you can't give anymore and you say this is it this is all I am this is all I have this is what I've worked hard for my whole dadgum life and and now I'm giving it too and here's the deal pickle she can refuse you and keep it well that's a game-changer in it y'all because some of us like I ain't saying nothing till you sign on the dotted line I'm not taking no chance of losing anything tell you that well that wasn't worked in the world that Jesus lived in because you give everything upfront and by the way I want to just tell you this Jesus gave all that he has for us and he knows that we can still slap him in the face he said but I love you I have to give you this now I'm trusting you that you're gonna love me back I know you will sadly so many of us go yeah you know what I'll take the life that you've given me I'll take the benefits of living the life that you've given me without you and that was the chance that every Jewish man was taken whenever he took his diary to the family and said okay this is this is it man this is it and then she looked out the window and she went yeah he's all right I know that brother okay I'm in he would say hallelujah and then this is what he would do he would go away to prepare a place for her and then he would work on it now depending upon how much money he had and how much resources he had determined how long he was gone so nobody knew when he was going to come back nobody knew the day or the hour of when he was going to come back does that sound familiar to you because this Messianic Jewish person was also God Almighty and while he spoke through the Jewish culture because that's just what he wanted to do he was actually speaking a word to the entire world and he was saying this listen I have laid everything that I am down for you trusting you that you're gonna love me and that you're gonna say yes and now I want you to know mine in my father's house then the place where my father's lived there's lots of room for me to build you a place and I'm gonna go away and I'm gonna prepare a place for you and if I go away then you know I'm gonna come back so man you need to be looking every day for me every day man can't you just see you know sister Sarah 2,000 years ago my man did coming back today I got to be ready I got to look good because I don't know when he's going to come back I got to look the way he wants me to look I got that special Avon that that brother likes so well he didn't show up yesterday why are you getting all dressed up for it because he might come today and I'm gonna be ready well maybe maybe maybe he's not coming at all maybe he don't find somebody else maybe maybe you believe there's something stupid no if he came the first time he promised that he would come back the second time and he paid the price the first time and the whole point of him paying the price was so that he could go away and prepare a place for me so that where he is I can also be amen so we don't need to worry if Jesus is coming back or not I promise you Jesus is coming back now hear this hear this whenever whenever the bridegroom does come back he comes back and he stands outside the door and he shouts hey I'm back and then it's like oh my gosh oh my god she's here he's here he's here he's here he's here he's here he's here okay okay are you okay you're ready it's a good thing you're ready because that man is here and he is ready to go now he's ready to take you to the bedroom chamber now right now I had probably been waiting a long time and he is ready you know the first thing that happens guys whenever Jesus comes back and he gets us boom he comes back with a mighty shout right hey I'm back and he immediately takes us to a place is called the marriage supper of the Lamb it's the party it's the party where we're all together for the very first time the Lord's like man thank you for saying yes I told you I would come back and I did come back see marriage the Bible says that there's a mystery to marriage let me show you that verse guys if you would please turn to Ephesians chapter 5 verse 31 for this reason a man shall leave his father and his mother and be joined unto his wife and the two shall become one flesh and then it says this this is a great mystery but I speak concerning Christ in the church anything that's any time the Bible where you see it says a mystery that word is synonymous with a secret something that is mysterious is secret it's something that you got to check out for yourself okay so in fact as a matter of fact in in both Hebrew and in Greek the word mystery and the word secret can be interchangeable so it's it's crazy so he says this is a mystery so he says this this is only for people who have the inside scoop marriage is actually a picture of Jesus and his bride aren't you glad that you have the inside scoop amen so this is the promise it goes like this a Jewish man sees somebody that he loves with all of his heart and he looks at her and he's too scared to talk to her at first and he's like okay okay okay okay okay listen I got a I got to do this so I need to hurry up and I need to save up some money before somebody else pays a price for her good googly swinging moogly I've had my eyes on her for a long long time and I got to make this work I got to make this work then you show up to daddy's house you say sir I'm here because I want to talk to you about I'd like to I'd like to throw your daughter over my shoulder and haul her off that's what I'd like to do and I'm a young man and I'm full of passion and I need to make this happen he says well what are you willing to lay down all that I am all that I have everything does you know what it's acceptable to me but go and ask the bride she takes a look she goes oh yeah yeah yeah yeah you go prepare a place for me and you come back and you get me he says okay he leaves sure brothers running runs he goes away to his father's house whose father's got a little piece of land he says daddy I need the corner over here or daddy since we don't have any land we got this house can I add an extra room to the house which was much more common he says yes son you know anything about building well I know a few things I can do this and I can do that well you know what I'm not gonna let you say it's okay until I inspect it and it looks perfect for your bride and then and then when you bring your bride into my house I want you to present her to me spotless and perfect before you guys go in that room I want you to present her to me spotless and perfect but I'll tell you I'll tell you whenever everything is finished I you can't decide when you go back to get the bride the father has to decide when you go back to go get the bride so finally daddy says hey son yes sir I'm just looking at what you've built and it's really impressive once you go get your bride boom the brothers gone you have to tell me twice he's gone he goes to her house he goes to her village he stands outside her door and he says hey I'm here I'm back just like I promised and she's like oh my gosh and she hears the cries she says it's time she's got her bags packed she's got her act together she's fully adorned and dressed knowing that the time is at hand and she comes out and he's like good googly moogly I'd like to paint that vision on the Great Wall of China come to Papa come on and he takes her she's like bye y'all bye oh my gosh this is it then the brother takes his young bride to his daddy and his daddy stands at the door and looks at her he says now that is a beautiful bride that is a beautiful bride enter into everything that I have my house is your house now Jesus Christ came 2,000 years ago and whenever he came he saw you and he saw me Jesus Christ is not subject to time he saw everybody all time and he said I love those people and you know what I want those people who are not a part of my family to become a part of my family so here's what I'm willing to give all that I have everything I am and he presented that to the nations of the earth and then he said look I'm gonna go away now that now that you said yes I have paid the biggest price that I can possibly pay I can't die any more than I died I can't bleed anymore than I bleed I've done everything I could possibly do I can't speak anything more I can't promise anything more but don't let your heart be troubled because if I go away to prepare a place for you I will surely come again so that where I am you may also be he said okay and he left he's been gone for two days now guys a Bible says that a day is two the lord has a thousand years he's been gone for two days jesus said I don't even know when I'm coming back he says nobody knows except for the father he says the father's got to tell me when I'm coming back because I can't go until Jesus until until until the father tells me to go soon and very soon the father is going to turn to the son and he's going to say I've seen what you've done and I've seen your bride go get her and bring her to me and Jesus Christ is going to come back with a mighty shout and then he's going to present us to the Lord as spotless he's going to present us to the father as spotless and holy because of the price that he paid for us not because of us but because of who he has made us to be and then the father is going to say enter him into all that I have everything I have now belongs to you and then from that day it begins now I don't know what the it is nobody knows because all of this drama we're a part of now these are the preliminaries this is not it oh it's important oh listen you better win this promise you but all of these are the qualifiers for what the Lord has for us on the day that we enter in so friends there's a mystery to marriage and the mystery of the marriage is that it secretly is a perfect picture of the interaction between Jesus and the church and how he presents us to the father guys let's give the Lord a greatly praise [Applause]
