"The MacGuffin" : Believing Israel and The Revelation of Satan

let's take a look here at Revelation chapter 12 that Charlie read to us how many of you went home last week and watched a psycho how we just wondering anybody had a number of people yes you know it's a good way to have you in your Christmas season it's a wonderful life holiday in psycho elf what's the great Christmas movie with that in mind let me give you an illustration Alfred Hitchcock Alfred Hitchcock in his movies like they weren't really mysteries they were suspense he would live you suspended you weren't sure what was happening and he had a term in his movies it was called the MacGuffin you know what the MacGuffin is I mentioned it to Nathan I said what's the MacGuffin he said that's when you get a bad tee shot and they give you a MacGuffin some Mulligan some of you thought it was the early readers of the mcgaffeys all right this is a MacGuffin the MacGuffin I think was a term invented by Hitchcock it's the tension of the movie that you never really have to completely explain just enough to get by like and like the birds did you ever watch the birds did you ever find out what was wrong with him birds we never find that what's wrong but that was just the MacGuffin just the fact Nature had turned on you our North by Northwest you you never really completely understand everything until right at the end of what James Mason's deal is or the one with who was it Claude Rains and Ingrid Bergman that there he's smuggling something in wine bottles what was the name of their suspicion you never really find out completely you just know there's something going on well in in in reveled in the Bible the MacGuffin is revelation 12 and 13 and 17 you get to the end of the Bible and you start saying very clearly about Satan and God and that's what's been the tension all the way through it's been ilusory a serpent the devil and Satan but now you're going to get it really brought clear as to what the problem was whenever you study Satan ology revelation 12:13 17 or some of your major texts and so let's take a good look here at the devil on this christmas season all right to be honest one of the best things you can study before Christmas is Satan because that's the reason Christ comes he comes deliver to deliver us from the power of the devil having been held captive by him to do his will and so here in Chapter 12 just stay with me and we'll explain as we go a great sign appeared in heaven which means that it's not a literal something but it is significant significant of spiritual truth a woman is clothed with the Sun with the moon under her feet and on her head a crown of twelve stars does that sound familiar to you you saw it in the book of Genesis you remember when Joseph had a dream and his sheaf of grain stood erect and the twelve are the the sheaves of his brothers that were gathering grain stood round him and that was a sign that my sheath because he would go to Egypt and be in charge of the bread and he would stand he would be thought to be dead but he was he would come to life and he would stand erect and his twelve brothers would bow down and then he had another vision where he saw the Sun and the moon in twelve stars bowed down to him and his father Jacob said well I and your mother as well as your brother's bow down not just your brothers but the whole nation is going to Valley and indeed in the book of Genesis I'm sorry as you go into the book of Exodus the whole nation and all of the people of Egypt bow down matter of fact they were commanded bowel the knee and so you see this picture of him of one who will he will die who will rise and will be exalted well that's what you see here and it's a picture of true Israel the lady of light from Israel what do we get we get the law of God we get the Bible we get the Messiah are its final king all comes from the Jew and so we see what you would call believing Israel in the tribulation chapter eleven was unbelieving Israel remember they worshiped at the temple of Antichrist and they were judged this is the lady of light believing Israel and we're going to see that someone hates them and someone hates the child that will come from them and then we're finally we're going to finish with somebody hates you Merry Christmas and so in verse two she is with child verse five says a male child does this sound like something you've heard of a woman will bring forth a male child who is to rule the nations with a rod of iron in Genesis that is called the protoevangelium the first gospel as soon as sin occurs God says to Satan I will put hatred between you Serpent and the woman and he the woman's child he will bruise your head there's going to be a man someday that's going to defeat you see and you will wound his heel that man is going to be struck he's going to die but in his death he will bring victory over the devil are we glad yes we are and so here is the male child and it says the woman being in labor and in Payne gave birth now what does that mean that Israel would give birth this is not the Virgin Mary it is the nation of Israel and she is bringing forth a child the child in verse five will rule the nations with a rod of iron it is Jesus Christ now what does this mean she is in labor she is in pain and gives birth that is also an Old Testament verse if you'll look at the Book of Micah keep your finger right there I want you to see it I could paraphrase it to you but I want you see it The Book of Micah when you find it just pass it to the guy next to you it's right after Obadiah and Jonah if you can but the Book of Micah and the Old Testament prophet it says in Micah chapter 5 verse 1 Micah writes in anticipation of the coming of the Babylonians the Northern Kingdom of Israel has been destroyed already by the Assyrians well here comes and Micah is riding around 7 700 BC around him they're late early six hundreds and he's writing about the coming of the Babylonians are gonna destroy Judea and Benjamin with the tribe where the the where Jerusalem is located and he says in chapter five verse 1 now muster yourselves in troops daughter of troops he's speaking here prophetically of the Babylonians Israel was called the daughter of Zion they belong to God the Babylonians or daughter of troops their God is military they are barbaric and in verse one they have laid siege against us Babylonian sieged Israel three times the last one they burned the city to the ground and with a rod they will strike the judge of Israel on the cheek they took the king of Israel and sent him into exile they put a guy in his place named Zedekiah and they slew his children before him then they put his eyes out they took him captive they treated Israel with great hubris and so Micah prophesies they're coming they're coming and in verse 2 God will not be finished with Israel but as for you Bethlehem the word Ephrata means fruitful Bethlehem means the the city of the town of bread and so Bethlehem fruitful one too little to be among the clans of Judah from you one will go forth for me do y'all know of a particular famous person who is born in Bethlehem yeah that is from the City of David according to the Davidic covenant here will come the Davidic King the Messiah and so Babylon will smite the judge of Israel on the cheek they will siege the city verse 2 will Israel be completely annihilated no they will not God will preserve them and there will go forth for me to be ruler in Israel his goings forth are from long ago when you read in the Old Testament you see a mysterious figure going forth to protect Israel every time he appears he is recognized as God he refers to himself as God Samson's parents ask him he's called the angel of Jehovah and they will say to him what is your name why do you ask me my name seeing it is wonderful he never appears after the beginning of the New Testament you know what is it's called a theophany an appearing of God he will come and appear and deliver his people when the New Testament begins we don't have anymore an appearance of God we have an incarnation of God he becomes one of us isn't that great and so his goings forth have been from long ago that he has delivered his people but at the end of verse 2 from the days of eternity this is a divine being that is going to come and incidentally does your Old Testament anticipate the plurality of God yes it does the Trinity it is implied and explained clearly in the new how does John begin in the beginning was the word and the word was with god and the word was god and the was the the word was there in the beginning with God so here in Micah and so from Bethlehem God is going to incarnate himself into humanity and verse 3 therefore he will give them up meaning Israel the term giving them up means to deliver Israel over to her captors Babylon Persia Greece Rome it began what the Bible calls the times of the Gentiles when Israel didn't have a king they were reigned over by Nebuchadnezzar by artaxerxes by Alexander by Caesar and then in verse 3 they are given up until a time there will be a time that she who is in labor has born a child Circle the word labor Circle the word give them up that's what labor means that Israel would be under judgment whenever Christ comes to Israel what nation are they underneath Rome who is their king of the Jews Herod who's an Edomite from Esau who hates Israel and as soon as he hears that there's a child born he has malevolence and his heart to destroy him and so Israel will be given up from the time of the Babylonians but it won't last forever someday Israel's King will come amen and that's what ye have in the manger scene on top of your stereo with that fluffy little white stuff underneath it Hara he comes and his name shall be called Christ the Lord and the remainder of his brethren there's going to be a remnant will return to the sons of Israel Christ is going to gather to himself the remnant of Israel than in for he will arise in shepherdess flock on the strength of the Lord he will rule over Israel and at the end of verse 4 his name will be great to the ends of the earth his God's will will be done on earth even as it is in heaven the kingdom of God and so Messiah someday is going to come to a beleaguered nation and all of the promises of God will come true on that exalted nation now does the Old Testament also give another nuance of the Messiah besides the fact that he will rule over the world in glory what's another very disturbing insight in the Old Testament as to the Messiah not only will he rule but he will I'm gonna go out and come back in and I want you to say the word die not only will he rule but he will very good if you're here for the first time this is the more intelligent group of Bible Church all the rest are forbidden to come yes he will die now if you were reading the Old Testament prior to Christ would that make complete sense to you you'd struggle with it which aspect of Messiah do you think Israel forgot about the fact that he would rule in glory or the fact that he would die they forgot about the dying and thus as he approached his death people were confused we know because we're looking back in retrospect and so this idea let's go back to Revelation chapter 12 the fact of Israel being in labor at the coming of Christ that is an old truth that is 600 years old by the time it is given in Revelation 12 well in verse 3 somebody is waiting for Jesus and he hates Jesus and he hates Israel and I'll show you at the end of the text he hates you and verse 3 another sign appeared in heaven great red dragon who you think that is it is Satan and the Old Testament sometimes it is simply referred to as Leviathan and it's a mythic creature of which there is no natural correspondent it is the king of the beasts and no one can approach it it's small good is anybody with me if you saw the Hobbit all right it is the great dragon that no one can approach and he has seven heads and ten horns and on the heads were seven diadem's the heads have diadem's this is a beast a dragon as it were and instead of a head it has seven heads a Hydra seven hits and the heads have crowns on them thus they represent Kings and kingdoms that come out of the Dragon they are satanic demonic kingdoms and I'm going to show you they hate God they hate Jesus they hate the nation of Israel and they hate you who are the kingdom's well the old world was destroyed in Genesis 6 through 9 at the no egg flood the new world starts out with the Tower of Babel another kind of Garden of Eden rebellion against God to make a name for itself the rejection of God a tower into heaven God smites it and it becomes the nation's we would say that Satan metastasized when they look in you and they find cancer they always stop and they run a MRI because they want to know if that cancer changed its stance meta stasis did it change and now can we find it in your brain and on your lungs and in your lymph and in your bones well Genesis 11 and 12 is Satan I'm sorry 10 and 11 is Satan metastasis and now it goes out in the nations God raises up his own nation in Chapter 12 to be a light in the darkness he chained he takes Abraham who will take Isaac he will take Jacob who will take Judah and they will become a great nation he'll deliver them out of Egypt into the land give them his law and the world will now have a light of the world and what is the one nation that has been killed more than any nation in the history of the world Israel and so it is believed that the seven heads when you go from Genesis chapter 12 on you see the arising of a world head an empire it is called and it's one that rules over the West and will rules over Israel it is called Egypt and then you say Assyria destroy Egypt at karkemish and they now become the rulers over Israel and destroy whatever ten twelfths of Israel is they destroy it that's what five six they destroy the northern ten kingdoms and then you have Babylon that destroys the southern two then you have Persia you'll remember again in the book of Esther named Haman and he wants to kill every Jew and then you get Greece with Alexander the Great and he has descendant after him called Antiochus Epiphanes that tries to destroy every Jew and then you have Rome and you get a Roman king over Israel that is called a Herod who tries to destroy the Jews and so you have Egypt Assyria Babylon Persia Greece Rome you have six heads all of which have one thing in common they come from the devil they reject God and they hate his chosen people that's the MacGuffin now but after Rome Falls now you see the nation-states arise we have not seen world attempt at well a success at world empire until the end of the Bible you see a confederacy of Nations come together and it becomes the seventh great world power how many nations are in the Confederacy I'm gonna go out again and come back in and refer to a text that I taught you back in October you have how many nations that are in a European Confederacy ten and that is what it is believed that this is it is a sign of world history done in a few words by God with you and I it took us seven years undergraduate to learn this with God he puts it in three what about just a few words there is Egypt Assyria Babylon Persia Greece Rome and revived Rome attend nation power in other words you have seven heads and ten horns make up the seventh and so it is a complete perusal of world history whenever you took history in school did they talk about the different rulers and their different means of government but one con the one common area is that they all opposed in idolatry the God of Israel you didn't study that did you the Bible reveals it and so here is the satanic Kingdom Satan is called the god of this world the Prince of the power of the air the whole world lies in the power of the evil one men are held captive by the devil to do his will men are sons of disobedience they're children of wrath he is the strong man of which none can challenge and even though you have different heads and kingdoms come from him they all come down to the same matrix and that is the hatred of the God of heaven well and verse three are rather verse four and his tail swept away a third of the stars of heaven now how many of you have ever heard don't raise your hand because you'll be ignorant about how many of you have ever heard that Satan led out a third of the angels of heaven that is taking a biblical truth we know that Satan led forth angels were not given a lot of material on it because we would get too fascinated with it Spurgeon said if you do a conference on Jesus Christ few will come if you do one on Antichrist you'll fill the room that's why man is we're Mystik but we're just not holy and so the Bible says that hell is the place of Satan and his angels Paul said I charge you Timothy in the presence of God in Christ Jesus and his chosen angels there are good angels and bad angels and satan led out angels that became the demonic realm did how many did it lead it out people say a third how do you get that from this text no and when it says he let out in verse four a third of the stars he swept them away and threw them to the earth it's the idea of persecution and judgment and verse 1 who do the stars represent it represents believing Israel there's a text in the book of Philippians it talks about the church and it says we're to hold forth the word of truth like stars and the firmament there were points of light and so stars sometimes is referring to the angelic realm book of Job says that the laying of the foundation of the earth the stars of God sang for joy that's true but they're seen as divine messengers this is probably talking about that Satan took 1/3 of the remnant of Israel who had believed and he puts them to death if any of you got by verse 4 cross-reference that says Daniel 8 look close do you see it Debbie I'm looking at you do you see it say yes I just wanna make sure and Daniel chapter 8 Antiochus takes a third of the stars meaning Israel and cast them to the earth same idea here and so Satan and verse 4 persecutes the believing remnant of Israel you remember in revelation 6 you have 144,000 Jews going out preaching and the Gentiles respond like the sand of the sea a great response in the first three and a half years and here Satan now cast them to the earth and kills them but in verse four there's one particular Jew there's one star that he hates most of all you know the Book of Numbers the Balaam Oracle's Balaam says that some day there would come forth from Jacob a star and a scepter would be given to him there was a belief in those days that when a king was born there was a new star in the heavens and so he is born in the men from the east see it they have heard the prophecies of Daniel where they are from and they come there saying where is he who is born King of the Jews we saw his star in the east and we came to worship there's a man who is God who has entered into humanity and we want to see him well in verse 4 there is a particular Jew that Satan hates it's not an educator because you can learn great things in education and never be redeemed it's not a rich man because you can have all the money in the world and never be redeemed it's not a very healthy man you can live as long as Methuselah than you died it's not a religious man because all the religions are just rungs on the ladder they're not means to be saved they're just lovely rungs to try to point you upward they can't save you verse four and the dragon stood before the woman he's waiting on this child it's like a Grimm's fairytale mirror mirror on the wall who's the fairest of them all not you you ugly chick but there's this I forget what it is but there's a babe that's over here in the forest somewhere okay I afraid I didn't read the rest of it and she's got to go get Sleeping Beauty or Snow White or one of them dwarves all right and so the dragon stands before the woman because Satan is scared of this guy just like the Wicked the witch the Queen was scared of this girl she is fairer and she will destroy man she does Satan is waiting on this one child this is the MacGuffin because when Jesus was born there was a Roman Emperor right outside the window where is he come tell me after you worship him and I will go to ya liar he wants him dead and so in verse 4 stood before the woman who was about to give birth so that when she gave birth he might devour her child you didn't study this in history you didn't study this in school it's the MacGuffin it's behind the scenes all we saw is the history of the Pharaohs and of Assyria and SR Hadden and Babylon and Nebuchadnezzar and Nibbana deaths and all we studied were Kings we didn't see what was behind them this is what's behind them and you can't get this from school you get it from the Bible and she gave birth to a son a male the seed of woman that will crush the Serpent's in because this child has the one stone in his pouch that will kill him he happens to be God he happens to be God who unites himself with man who happens to live 30 years and says who accuses me of sin he's perfect and he goes to a cross and as God he can bear our sin as man he can identify with us he dies and he rises and he goes forth and starts touching people that touch people that touch people and it came to you amen you are a living fulfillment of this prophecy and so in verse 5 this child is going to rule the nations with a rod of iron and he's caught up to God and to the throne that there is the defeat of Satan by this child the New Testament expands he'll live a perfect life Satan will say Holy One of God Judas will say what was it oh it's real good used to be there in your Bible this man has done nothing wrong thief on the cross we're receiving justly what we deserve this man has done nothing around Judas said I've betrayed innocent blood the Centurion said this man is innocent he's the son of God Pilate said in him I find no guilt I let said Herod examine him he found nothing worthy of death who accuses me of sin he's spotless and he died in rows and now he starts touching us so he's afraid of this boy and he is caught up to glory and what's he doing now do you remember in Chapter 11 of Luke they accused Jesus of being doing his miracles by the power of the devil and Jesus said ah no he said a strong man guards his house with full armor and no one can escape who is the strong man that guards his house Satan no one escapes man can't get away from him he said but when someone stronger that's Jesus comes into his house that was the first Christmas the landed invasion of planet Earth then it says he overcomes him that's the cross and strips him of his armor Satan is now helpless and once men hear the message of Christ they now escape and they go from the domain of darkness to the kingdom of God's dear son they are born sinners and they become Christians by being born again in that something Luke chapter 11 that's what God's doing right now he's going into the strong man's house he has been defeated and he's gathering out God's people are you all glad that he reached you he came to you well and verse 6 what happens now the woman fled into the wilderness where she had a place prepared by God believing Israel flees for her life and she is nourished there where is the place in the Old Testament that you most see the faithfulness of God to his covenant people the wilderness and Israel goes there and lo and behold God cares for them just like in the Old Testament you know what I'd say that God is the same yesterday today and forever he has ESSID loving-kindness that never changes and so he nourishes her for a thousand two hundred and sixty days that's three and a half years now let me show you something keep your finger right there and look at Matthew 24 and Matthew 24 Jesus is talking about he is in Jerusalem just before his death and he's talking about the second coming and he says in chapter 24 verse 2 he said do you not see all these things truly I say to you not one stone here will be left upon another which will not be torn down he says boys this temple is coming down it was destroyed under Babylon it was rebuilt under zerubabbel in Joshua but it's coming down again and in verse three they're sitting on the Mount of Olives and they said when will these things happen Matthew 24 doesn't answer that question the Book of Luke answers that question and it talks about when the temple will be destroyed down whenever Israel is surrounded by their enemies and they build up a siege wall that you're going to be destroyed and that happened under the Romans Matthew looks at the second question and what will be the sign of your coming in the end of the age the disciples understand that you're about to go away and come back he said I will go away to prepare a house and I'll come again to receive you unto myself but they don't understand the nuances of it but they understand you're gonna come back when's this gonna be he said well and verse five you're gonna see four horsemen come forth you're going to see in verse five and many will say I am the Christ and mislead what kicks off the Tribulation Period Antichrist who covenants with Israel you're gonna see Antichrist and many that follow him saying I am II and then in verse six you're going to be hearing of wars and rumors of wars Horseman number two but the end this is not the end and then in 7 nation will rise against nation Kingdom against Kingdom and there will be famine that is the horse number three the Black Horse of famine and then earthquakes that is the horse number four the pale horse of death Antichrist war famine death white horse red horse black horse ashen horse that's the four horsemen Jesus is right in keeping with the book of Revelation and he says that in verse eight these are the beginning of birth pangs this is the beginning of the tribulation this is the first three and a half years what our birth pangs its what a woman undergoes in great pain and then it ends with the bringing forth of life the tribulation will be us a seven-year birth bang you thought you had it bed and then at the end life will come forth and in verse five we look now at the second half of the tribulation they will deliver you now the disciples will be long dead by this the you is not talking to Christians because that term has not been fully elaborated that term hadn't even appeared the you are speaking to the twelve as representative of the faithful of Israel Israel of the last days you will be delivered - what's the word I'm gonna ask you again they will deliver you to tribulation here we begin the last three and a half years 144,000 Jews go forth preaching the Gentiles come in like sand of the sea and they are put to death and so there is tribulation and you will be hated by all nations on because of my name there will be a future for the nation of Israel and in verse 10 they'll be purified many will fall away betray one another hate one another false prophets will arise lawlessness will be increased people's love will become cold it's going to purify the nation we're gonna find out who are the Sheep and who are the goats who are the virgins that keep their lamps full that believe he's coming at any time purification are our pain will purify the nation but in verse 13 the one who endures until the end there will be an ending of this period and that person will be saved you know why because the Messiah will appear and they will be saved and then in verse 14 during this three-and-a-half years the gospel of the kingdom will be preached to the whole world we saw that in Revelation where the Gentiles respond like the sand of the sea so the Tribulation Period is going to be a great period of salvation as a matter of fact that verse whoever believes in the Lord shall be saved it's in the book of Joel and is referring to the tribulation and in verse 14 then the end will come verse 15 looks at the specifics of that last three and a half years when you see something the abomination of desolation spoken through Daniel the prophet standing in the what's it's a holy place I thought that temple got destroyed it did how can he take his seat in the holy place Antichrist is going to rebuild the temple Revelation chapter 11 you saw that and so we're gonna have a new holy place and somebody is going to take his seat in the temple of God ask God it's gonna be an abomination and he's going to start killing everybody that doesn't believe in him it's going to be an abomination of desolation just like Daniel I'm sorry just as Revelation says here comes Antichrist and what do you do in verse 16 when you see this happening those who are in Judea must flee to the mountains verse 17 don't go down to get the things in your house verse 18 don't turn back 19 and 20 don't be pregnant in that day it's hard to run when you're in your seventh month and verse 21 because at that time there is going to be a and Jesus coins the term what's the term Great Tribulation such as never occurred since the beginning of the world unless those days had been shortened by the coming of Christ no life would have been saved so in 23 if they tell you at that time here is Christ or there is Christ now if they say in 26 he's in the wilderness or in the inner rooms don't believe it because in 27 when he appears every eye will behold him as the lightning flashes east to the west so the coming of the Son of Man will be and where he's going to come to as verse 28 it's where the buzzards congregate there's a battle called Armageddon and the enemy will fall and God will summon the fowl of the air to consume them I think that's something and so I hope you see that revelation and Matthew 24 are like Legos they fit perfectly together so go back here and here we see Israel fleeing before Satan we'll find that later before Antichrist and in verse 6 they are nourished for three and a half years well and verse seven through verse twelve I'm going to teach you that next week I'm gonna do one of the greatest Christmas message just prior to Christmas we're gonna study the career of Satan you really can't understand Christmas if you don't understand Satan why did Jesus come he came to destroy the works of the devil to deliver men from the domain of darkness to the kingdom of God's dear son well I'm going to show you that next week but I want you to jump ahead to verse 13 and I'll conclude the dragon saw that he was thrown down to the earth I'll explain that to you he persecuted the woman believing Israel who gave him bail birth to the male son and the two wings of a great Eagle were given to the woman that she could fly into the wilderness see also Matthew 24 go to the wilderness and there she could go to her place kind of give you a legend that we don't know if it's true or not Israel if it's gonna flee can't flee to the west you end up in the Mediterranean you flee to the east you go across the Jordan into what is now the place of Jordan out into the wilderness there is a particular City that is in Jordan the book of Obadiah is written to the people the of that city and it's called the city the rose-colored City it's built into the wall if you saw Indiana Jones the Last Crusade it was filmed in that city I was watching it and I said if I didn't know better I'd say that was Petra and it was how they got freedom to do that I have no idea but they did it wasn't discovered till 1845 we knew it was had somewhere because Obadiah talked about it but we found it in 1845 and there's only one entrance into the city and it's like only wide enough for two people to go through and so hypothetically one of the worst things that could happen over in the Middle East whenever you have huge rains come and the waters filled up you have flash floods and if you're in a place like that it's like being in Austin you know I'm saying I mean you just get flooded and so God gives her great wings of an eagle that remind you of a verse those who wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength they shall mount up their wings as Eagles I'm going to not grow weary walking not faint God is with them but in verse 15 the serpent poured out water like a river trying to drown them but the earth and verse 16 helps the woman and opened its mouth is there another place in the Bible that Israel was trapped and all of a sudden the earth opened its mouth and Israel passed through and then it closed on the enemy it's at the Red Sea it's like it God is once again protecting his people how come because he made promises that's why I'm a pre millennialist I believe in the coming of Christ prior to a literal Kingdom over Israel because God made promises and we tried to help him out in the Middle Ages there was no Israel so we made the church Israeli allegorized all of the eschatological passages God doesn't need our help there's going to be in Israel and in verse 17 the dragon was enraged with the woman is it a biblical point that Satan hates Israel yes it is my personal belief is one of the reasons why America has been so blessed as in the age of Zionism from the 16th 17th 18th 19th centuries whenever Israel began to go back to the land they were persecuted in Russia they were persecuted in Germany they're persecuted everywhere because they had grown the Reformation gave certain freedom's and they had grown and they had prospered and they found a particular place to come to that had religious freedom and they could prosper here what was the country you're sitting in America has been the greatest home to the Jew because we can't escape the fact that we're cousins theologically we are Christians that come out of the Old Testament and so Israel was always given safety and that's one reason why I thank God has blessed us may we always be faithful to that nation because they are the unique treasure of God well and verse 17 Satan hates the woman and he can't kill her and so he went off to make war with the rest of her children question who are the rest of the children in the tribulation that are not Jews but are born of Israel through the belief in the seed of Abraham they are tribulation Saints the same thing is said about us in the book of Galatians if you belong to Christ you are Abraham's offspring heirs according to promise and so we in a sense have entered into their spiritual blessings during the tribulation the world will believe in Israel's Messiah and Satan who can't destroy Israel will go to make war with the rest of the children Gentiles who have believed and when they see a suffering Jew that is in prison they visit them when they are hungry they will feed them when they were naked they will clothe them when they were thirsty they will give them drink and when Christ returns he will gather those Gentiles he'll say come into my kingdom because I was hungry and you fed me and I was thirsty you gave me drinking I was in prison you visited me Lord when did we see you like this whatever you did to the least of my brethren who were the Brethren believing Israel that you did to me come into my kingdom and so these are Gentile believers now how does Satan know who the believers are make a note if you're gonna be the greatest deceiver on earth you must categorically be the best theologian you can't properly deceive unless you know what the truth is otherwise you will mistakenly lead people into orthodoxy okay Satan that's why whenever you read the Bible and you see Satan before God speaking he'll never lie he'll lie to us about God he'll never lie to God about us and when he accuses us before the throne do y'all think he lies to God about us no he tells the truth and our hope is not how good we are but if anyone sins we have an advocate with the father Jesus Christ the righteous everybody like it aren't you glad there's somebody that is righteous and God's presence how many of you remember Perry Mason oh yeah you remember that Perry wood for one hour it looks like his guy is dead guilty and in the last five minutes just before the Folgers commercial with mrs. Olson always in comes Paul Drake remember him y'all know that it's Hedda hoppers son and just head to hopper son he comes in and says hey Perry look at this and he's got a photograph of this guy who does it and he shows you to the judge and this woman usually a blonde is now exonerated and it's this guy the jockey or the chauffeur are the somebody he's the guy that did it and so Perry gets you off by showing that you're not really guilty you're really a good guy he's good advocate how does our advocate get to get us off does he say to Satan that's a lie he's really a good guy now he says Satan you don't know all that I know he's worse than you think however he does not come in himself he comes in behest of myself he comes in my wake I who have been pierced I who have been killed for him I who have clothed him with the righteousness of God and he stands are you glad that is how we stand and so this is how Satan knows the child of God and verse 17 they keep the commandments of God and they hold to the testimony of Jesus that's it they rest in the testimony of Jesus whenever I ask a guy are you gonna go to heaven he says yes and I say then what would you say to God when you stand a Christian it'll take him one nanosecond and he will respond me I should not be there but I believe in the Son of God who came and lived for me and died for me and rose on my behalf and I took him as my savior amen they hold to the testimony of Jesus and then you say to them how do I know it was a real conversion they keep the commandments of God not to be saved but because they are I was converted and I was changed I was born again how do I know it's a real conversion they hold to the testimony of Jesus how long do we hold to God and obey Him until your last breath that's the way Satan knows who the child of God is he holds to Christ he's been born again and he is faithful Satan is a good Calvinist let me explain it that is reformed theology like I say Satan doesn't ever lie to God I know who the child of God is he rest in solafeet iam Christ and he's been born again and it's not a passing fancy he's true to the end of his days that's who the real guy is so according to this text does Satan hate Jesus yes or no does Satan hate Israel yes or no yes does Satan hate you yes welcome to Denton Bible we hope that you have enjoyed this Sunday and he would like to kill you if at all possible if he can't kill you tell what to do he'll deceive you into error if he can't do that he'll disqualify you because of sin if he can't do that he'll distract you by worldliness if he can't do that he will divide you where no one will believe you because you can't get along with nobody and last of all he will endanger you to where you're afraid to speak up because you're chicken and you go silent and if you can do that you got the day of death he will kill you if you possibly can and you can't let's go that's you're probably saying yourself how can I escape such a judgment well the answer is you can't there's going to have to be a monumental work on your behalf God is going to have to become a man born in the womb of no human father to pass on Adams guilt he's going to have to live a perfect life he is going to have to die in your place and be punished and submit to the end he's going to have to rise from the dead and then in some way the Holy Spirit of God is going to have to reveal him to you because left to yourself you will not become a Christian God will have to open your eyes and then you will efficaciously respond as a dying man to water you'll respond and you will be converted and he will begin to work and will continue it until the day of Christ and we're gonna pray for you and I tell you why because you're so lost if you're this person you can't even cry for yourself the chances are you have never cried in your life for your guilt you've cried for the effects of your sin and being caught but you've probably never ever cried because of your lostness Jesus cried for you because you're just too dead to cry for yourself and if it is left to you you will go to hell with the memory of 50 Christmases you will sing the carols and the lake of fire if it's up to you and so we'll pray for you and then we're gonna let Nathan find us a zone between now and about three minutes I don't know what you're gonna do now Father in Heaven we are so thankful for the giving of your dear son we are so thankful for his perfect life we are thankful that he came into the strong Mans house and bound the strongman he defeated him and he took away all the armor on which he relied we are not blinded anymore we are not weak anymore not in you we are not bent limb where we can't walk anymore we're not cutting ourselves in agony and crying in the dark we're not living in the tombs anymore you have released us and as you said he that doesn't gather with me scatters we now have become gatherers of the elect thank you Father for your marvelous marvelous grace and father no doubt that in a crowd this morning of of 3,800 people there are those when asked if they will die and stand before you they have no answer they will simply appeal to how good they think they are next to the standard of Manson next to the standard of Jeff Dahmer they look pretty good but in the light of the holy one they will be in terror father they can't repent I pray for them that you might show Your mercies you had them here for a reason and I pray that you would bring them to the place of bowing the knee and confessing that Jesus is Lord and believing upon him who was raised from the dead and then to lift their head to new birth with the wind of the Holy Spirit blowing through the casement window of their soul giving life and Lord will ask these things in Christ's name Amen I got a hymn for you there was a fellow one time and his name was Henry light ly T E and this guy was an Episcopalian minister and a fishing village in England called Devonshire and he was a three-time award-winning English poet he was good and he met a fellow that he loved all of his life he was a good pal good buddy and the fellow died on him and he went and visited him and when he visited him he wrote a poem just for this man showed it to him and he kept it himself and the poem was about Jesus on the Emmaus Road who went into the disciples and they said to him abide with us for the night is coming and the day is almost gone and so he wrote a hymn and he changed the word abide with us to abide with me fast Falls the Eventide and he died this man did of tuberculosis Henry Lyon did and before he died he posted the poem back to his wife and she kept it and they could words to it and it is the point called abide with me and it came to be the most famous of all funeral hymns because it gives the greatest hope abide with me by with me fast Falls the [Music] the darkness defense Lord with me and other elvers fail and comforts help Swift to its close F
