Now I actually thought this was spam at first, but after watching it I really learned to appreciate it. This isn't the story of the next Jan Frodeno, this is your everyday dad doing his first Ironman, the goal he wants to achieve so much.

I really liked it, thanks!

Any other good tri films? I’ve looked on Netflix and didn’t find much. TIA

[Music] [Applause] [Music] No it really is a choice to go to places you've never been before during every triathlon I get a dark moment I don't like this anymore I'm really tired something hurts I'm not sure I don't want to think about exactly what hurts but it all hurts and so part of it is is that belief and faith that you can see it happened that you know you can do it just keep going just keep going and I think that's a great analogy that shows up in other parts of life to be worried and you just say just left right black [Music] [Music] it might be months it might be yours and that that wilderness you're going to get to the end point there are events that have endpoints but is the analogy that there's always another race and that the real the real part of track on is the journey [Music] [Music] the kids were getting a little older and I needed to get life insurance and so I had an interview where they take your blood pressure and then I'm like no the lady said you should try diet and exercise I said well I'll try exercise so at the same time I was talking to one of my friends Marvin he and I started investigating what triathlon was about and then we joined the local Pasadena Triathlon Club I didn't have a bike I hadn't swam in years I'm definitely not a runner so this was all very couch-potato ish it's me we're out for a bike ride me whether I'm deciding to do something I've never done before and I'm gonna go with an open mind and an open heart to learn from other people about how to get there a triathlon for years has been recognized as a pretty badass thing to do okay and there are simply not very many opportunities in the modern world for us to step up to the plate and do something which is ride widely recognized at the water cooler on a Monday as being a pretty badass thing for you to do for the first year I would radically freak out just hyperventilate in the swim I would just like get so nervous and the flurry of all the guys jumping in and swimming there's other guys that are just out there just hammer hammer and they're out to prove something to themselves into other people about how fast they are and what they're doing and I was just I'm wrapping my mind around it laughed right left again keep breathing it is a sport that you can use to create a dramatic transformation in your life a dramatic healthy transformation in your physical fitness your mental well-being it humbles you and it clearly tells you what you don't know what you need to learn being out there and finishing as a win I'm not the fastest guy I'm still the couch potato but I'm out there at every race as a win what I learned about on my journey is what kinds of things I needed to prepare for Joe knows exactly what what he wants to get out of it he knows what his goals are he knows what his tolerance or what he's willing to do or not do in order to reach those goals so the full Ironman is a really long race the full Ironman is a big event in the in the eyes of the triathlon community because is just the full enchilada it's very personal they you can't make somebody do this on a whim it's been I don't know quite a few years eight or nine years getting ready for this training wise feel prepared bleeding edge of losing it I think you've been holding it together because I know I'm prepared or I put in the work but just kind of anxious freaking out excited I was walking by the finish line yesterday it's all set up with glitzy lights and flowers and cameras and timers and I got all choked up I was like oh my gosh that finish line so you can stop and the pain will stop but you won't get across the line until you live fully [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Music] [Applause] what's up Joe what have nothing nice to say right now nothing that's dark angry place right now with with one good I know blizzard storms I couldn't see half of the time I was drenched by mile 10 it was awful so heavy rain [Music] [Music] you can stop and the pain will stop but you won't get across the line until you live fully it's just like when you were a kid remember used to love to run around the block and ride your bike on the block and you loved to swim when you're a kid it's just like that my motto is this is all just a game it is all just a game we are all just you know middle-aged people swimming biking and running and funny clothes with pointy hats [Music] it's just one kid at a time and we should all be at forty sixty a coming into that finish line [Music] today is what it is and you do your best on that day when I'm coming down that last Hill tiring man I'll just be like I'll probably be losing it you know I might have been walking or something beforehand but I'll always pick it up and smile and show my best because I really wanted to remember it that that's the best part so the reason why I'm named my first company crucible fitness the definition of a crucible is a an event an arduous test in which you put you you put yourself in and you're transformed through it and you emerge on the other end something different I think what I learned about on my journey is what kinds of things I needed to prepare for and that small decisions are no big deal and just setting stuff on automatic and to focus on the big things and first things first and and those types of important decisions you make in your life it's like okay I'm going to sign up for a race and then I'm going to find a training plan and then I'm gonna plug it in I'm a smoker alcoholic I'm 50 pounds overweight I want to use triathlon and an endurance training as a vehicle to help me make a dramatic transformation in my life people are so happy that you're coming in you really want to sear into your mind how happy everybody was for you everybody appreciates what got you to the end [Music] you
