The Hokkaido Adventure Begins | New Chitose Airport (Sapporo)

hokkaido literally welcome as we just touched down [Music] whoa hokkaido you can smell it it's cooler here [Music] on this plane over here look at those little people down there we are at the airport all right let's get let's get out of this gate here as we hold up traffic out of excitement for what is to be a 10 day hey dude i'm supposed to be ahead of this bike that's why you're waiting for us that's true that's true this is new tito airport created by the supper of classic beer that sounds really good right now i know i could use one even though it's morning the flight was delayed we had a breaking issue in tokyo and it took about 20 minutes for them to fix it but not to worry but they worked upon landing [Music] i'm incognito [Music] we're starting right from the airport that's kind of cool yeah that's where it all starts are they meeting us at the people at the exit there's a bus stop yeah there's a bus stop where the shuttle bus [Music] yeah people are in a hurry to get out of here i don't blame them on the airplane they're showing the uh infection numbers trying to psych us out but we're oh there's some the tokibe snack i like those i feel ridiculous but let's just say nobody knows i'm here pov sam's in the house we are starting strong you guys are as i said you guys are all gonna be with us through the adventure including the airport the cool thing about this is that domestic and international is so different you probably can't be showing the customs immigrations and and whatnot but here there's none of that because we're domestic flights how cool is that look at that oh it is we do have bags because of the uh uh gear that we're gonna need for this trip yeah i did not pack like i feel uh hey do it it's me behind behind the mask so you ready for this i'm ready yeah i'm anxious did you did you sleep well not really you know [Music] but i'll sleep well tonight yeah we will we gotta we got a kind of a ways to ride here now just for everybody who was thinking about backing and didn't uh we have a time sale going on right now on kickstarter uh from now until the end of the project uh a postcarded documentary is slightly discounted to the tune of four four four four yen it's a lucky number [Music] and uh yeah it's just a kind of a fun part of the project uh you can pledge a little bit more you can change your pledge if you want we just want to encourage everybody to get the postcard because we think that dakota's art is so good it's fantastic yeah yeah excited for that uh and of course the echo bag and uh coming in close yeah it's all right now this is it what are you in the mood for to eat you want some uh well some ramen or you want like like i just said a mcgriddle grandania showed me some mcgriddles from hawaii they look like the hawaiian burgers that we have here at mcdonald's something that's quick to go um because they're going to be waiting for us and i'm okay to get something once we get started on the bike cookies between here and nobody nobody betsu we have about an um gosh it was a full flight i didn't have anybody next to me you had a couple they were only seated that was the only seat open the one next to me i got lucky i wonder why that guy canceled so you have a j95 mask yeah is that like a japan japan issue really okay what's the difference i guess there's a k95 which is korea maybe ladies like it because it doesn't mess up the makeup so much oh your lipstick yeah dipstick probably while you like it too so what motorcycles we got here we're not we're probably not gonna do a live stream of the motorcycle shop but can you tell us a little bit about it yeah well um you have the 400cc honda x 400 honda 400x um it's a it's kind of a uh cross bike it's upright riding and it's made so that it kind of has relatively high clearance so you can go on off-road with it and i have a 900 yamaha tracer which also is a cross style but comfortable touring bikes they have top cases and uh they have also have a windscreen on both of them which is nice for on the highway yeah so yeah um hopefully they're gassed up and ready to go i'm pretty excited about it too i i've never ridden a motorcycle alpha but off of a school course yeah this will be your first time in like in a on real streets is it any different i don't have any feeling whatsoever you reckon why should i be scared i don't should i be tracking real strength this mask is bigger than my face [Music] i want to get out of here already okay let's move a little bit closer to the people because that's what you would typically do all right yeah a lot of the regional you can see the belt going by with the luggage there's no luggage on it yet but in regional airports they usually have something from the prefecture that like oh for aomori they would have maguro because the tuna fish are very popular there that's really sweet pink no it's a fake one hokkaido they don't do anything because they just have so many flights some prefectures regional airports might have like three plates a day but the ones in the uh sapporo this is as busy as almost haneda flight's coming uh all over the place uh into here which makes software a really convenient place to live you can get a flight international from here as well yeah so basically the the game plan is we show up at the motorcycle shop and uh we pack our bikes we've got it's gonna take a while to pack them and get our tank bags set up and everything but um hopefully it will be a smooth process yeah hey tor toropogo's here thank you look at some of the comments here nobody except all of us nobody except all of us knows you are here that's right keep it we're incognito with the glasses i look like a walking uh cartoon character [Laughter] so we have we have a um what are those bags called that we have on the back the kind of waterproof bags that we have to attach to the back dry bags and uh netting and we have uh i bought a tank bag that came yesterday um so we got quite a bit of luggage but not no backpacks right we're going to keep our backs free well do you have a backpack well it'll fit in the top cage i don't know i didn't bring a backpack what's on your back right now this is a camera bag there's no way i'm taking it you're gonna put it like in the top case yeah okay or you can just strap it onto the vacuum seat that's what we have those nets yeah you didn't tell me you're bringing a backpack i didn't think that that was gonna happen i didn't know that i don't want any backpack hopefully we won't have to just strap it on the bike like i said that guy's gonna get off the bike can we do something he's gonna need a bigger bike [Music] and typically i i will go to the front and stake it out but i think that this distancing is just fine with me thanks everybody for waiting for us as we wait for our luggage this is an eventful eventful live stream a flight from osaka just came in here so we picked that number because it's better than 4 500 and it's just more fun imagine like a game of poker four fours lucky andre could be i know the number four is representative of something else but if there's four of them i figure it's a double negative and that means the positive right if there's four fours that means that's a positive thing i just add them up if you add them up you get 16. hold on eight meaning 16. any hidden meaning in that i don't know but if you divide 16 by four what do you get you guys didn't know you're going to get a math lesson today 64. that's time which is and he had 5 to 64. it's your favorite number all didn't even check it yeah right i don't want to know how do you plan um yeah the jackets once you're on the bike and on the road you stay pretty cool but don't worry about that yeah look at one of my crossbow like a giant santa's boot a boot two boots wow [Music] um well where's the other case that size so i have a gray suitcase [Music] isn't it fun waiting for your luggage it's the highlight of the shirt one of them but mine is a champagne color how am i gonna get that on the fight oh that one holy moly you you brought that much you brought that much stuff peter why what's in there what does he know that i don't know that he fires him to bring all that stuff here's my suitcase it's a fraction of the size dude really [Music] i should have brought a bigger city to put that in here you could put that in there and have space left that's crazy leo is not coming he's not old enough to ride a motorcycle and anyways i have to wait two years before i have riders oh is that the rule yeah i didn't know that i did pack yeah how many socks and underwear you picked this socket on door for every day i packed one pair i just have to wash it every time i take a shower one pair of underwear no i got two pairs two only two well you wash one and you wear one hello how do you travel light wash one wear one no you don't do that i like comfort when you're on the bikes we don't necessarily have time to dry our clothes we're one night one place so if it's raining that's what the the uh uniqlo um dry tech is for right the air tech or whatever yeah it dries in like five minutes and anyways where what what if we're going to the clubs i'm not going to know how you're going to dinner oh yeah let's go to a club no we're not going to clubs we're riding here all right okay hold on it's not yeah a lot of the stuff we're stick keeping behind um let's go outside and just have a couple of words with people let's go outside we're going to explain some of the trip to you uh before we we leave our flight was delayed and we are in a bit of a hurry okay we can take off the masks here i've got it sorted out it's probably down there fresh air so yesterday kanai gave me a haircut she uh shaved me down and it was this scariest thing so far of this trip started before the trip with the clippers i thought she was gonna take off in the ear but i'm nice and fresh and my head will fit easier in the uh helmet so no problem there okay they're going at 10 40. are they coming at 10 40. all right 4 30 bus stop our big shout out to emmy who is our assistant she's our headquarters emmy is helping us on the on the ground underwear fun jennifer i don't need an underwear but there's jennifer's started in underwear he does only two pairs of underwear for a 10-day trip yeah that's all you need no you wash it hello sink washing have you never been a backpacker okay let's go fellow man with massive suitcase how are you gonna fit that on the bike i guess we're leaving behind some of the suitcases because in uh five days time we return to new jitose airport and we're going to be taking an rv so we're leaving the suitcases behind and picking them up when we return it to so we'll have a lot more space in the rv another reason why we broke up this trip one i'm a newbie for motorcycle riding and you shouldn't push it too much we're not going massive amounts of distances but the the roads that we picked are going to be extremely scenic very nice around volcanoes wilderness oceans seas and lots of empty roads i'm hoping and mel and kuma too he's waiting for us on august 6 at the end we just made a reservation for all you can eat your body melon is peter going faster am i going she's slow sorry i can't check the uh chats right now i'm in motion but they're coming here at uh [Music] at 2 gonna go inside the airport for a second all right i wanted to out of my hands so new chitosa airport you have luggage carriers it's a lot quieter on this side of the arrivals um it's basically like a half moon pattern here kate no please kate just gave me more underwear fun ellis dude really what kind of underwear are we going to buy with that charcoal underwear that they muffle the they muffle the oh okay they're here i hope all that that just came in is not for underwear seriously embarrassing with the hokkaido clock what's up boro where's your dry pack okay all right so here's our rental 819 is the name of the motorcycle rental shop uh and we're off your moon cake tin is here [Music] get every color of the rainbow john i just want two pairs you can get them at 7-elevens that's true i'm wondering why my suitcase is just we'll have all the riding three in the boots with them too i don't know how you practice the light i don't i don't need a lot it's a mostly camera one pair of shorts no two pairs i get the zip offs and then a pair of shorts and uh anything i need i can just buy on the way if i need it i got space my stuff's compact about a hair dryer you have a hair dryer no really yeah oh yeah on my top of the line i like katayama's right commando fund it sounds a lot cooler than underwear fund that's good yeah commando but you know you're gonna film uh arriving right yeah make sure you get your smartphone out because i got this going um you do not want to go commando on a bike john trust me you've done it when you say trust me you say that by because you've done it before and you've lost i've heard about it hey louise thank you look at the chat here pbg hair dryer is the wind when we did your artwork for your comments yeah do you remember we uh what my template was for you was vincent who played egghead in the batman very handsome man carl really have a great trip maybe get some disposable underwear i'm glad you said that set of diapers which is basically what diapers are like disposable underwear the adventures is that because if we get stuck in traffic i'll be set and you'll be the one with you know making yellow streaks all down your legs yeah i want complete freedom on this trip so then go to commando it depends yeah well that's ours of the past how'd they come up with the name of that so that's hokkaido big skies open roads um and uh yeah we're gonna be riding for the next uh five days right yep and four days four and a half days in the rv uh the long haul is gonna be in the rvs but we're going to be bringing you live on the bikes [Music] are you going to stream going to the place yeah i'm just going to get the video for that this stream has been sponsored night depends [Music] yeah i mean how are you feeling i mean you're going to be getting on a bike within an hour and being on the roads your very first time i mean you've been on a track test track but it's very different so i'm not worried about traffic here at the kaido there's other stuff like foxes beautiful things you can't like suddenly pull over what do you mean by foxes like foxy fox the animals um anyhow we're gonna have an awesome time i'm a little tired we're gonna go slowly yeah i didn't get as much i get about five hours so it's pretty cool that if you do make a reservation at this 819 motorcycle shop they do have uh pickups at the airport and it's kind of cool because i guess there's not a lot of people running motorcycles um it's still kind of early so we're the ones well empty seats august is the most popular time for bikers in hokkaido and the majority of them take a ferry into the island because they have their own bikes yeah and that's how i've come here twice um overnight ferry which is fantastic there's a there's a cento a community bath on the ship which is great taking a bath looking out the port windows and seeing the ocean then you arrive and you get on your bike and ride off the ferry and yeah it's awesome so we're doing a little different this time flying in to save some time and getting rental bikes and rental 819 is a nationwide network we'll be talking more about them throughout the trip but um nationwide network of rental shops and um there's loads of bikes to choose from especially with the uh branch we had loads to choose from harley's and everything but again john's uh a newbie look at the flowers a little bit slower look at those showers pretty flowers they almost put you in a trance well i can't sniff them that's not going to happen with you smell them peter come on so so um if we do this again we can use eight one nine and just fly to like and they got some bikes exactly so but again if you're having you have more time you could rent bikes in tokyo and take the ferry tokyo it's another part of the adventures is varying into uh but uh we have a little announcement to make them hopefully we better announce this pretty quickly so um we have a oh two things number one the time sale is on until the longest settings and number two um we have a stretch goal yes because we we've already hit our initial goal the first stretch goal is giving them close 3.5 billion right again we're at 3.1 million yen um i don't know what that is in dollars but phenomenal so we will fly back in september [Music] so we're going to go to hakodate because we're not we're not going to be hitting half of that day on this trip right and that's one of the coolest towns we're going to finish the trip by going back to hakodate so we just need um just a small percentage more to get to that goal because i think people actually could be past that i think it was 5 million which is like never going to get there but we will go up to guatemala right the area of wakanda for a very special onsen special oh it's made out of oil yes there's a surface natural oil on the surface of this molecule so we're riding on hot wheels we're going to be bathing in it right there we thought jon had maybe soft skin already until we reach this second stretch goal i i don't think we're going to get into that number but uh but it's a five million earnings yeah we get something close but personally my goal is 500 if we get the 500 [Music] yeah so i think we'll be there august 4th if we get the 500 we'll jump into like uh can we do this all right we'll jump in late if we get to 500 name of that
