ever since I watched Boi The Rock hiu Hiro has caught my attention despite being a side character with her morally questionable extortion of OI and her drunken Antics she really puts the word cute in a cute liver failure so all is forgive it but what lies behind those spiral eyes Beyond her chaotic nature and her sness kikuri hiroi reflects some of the challenges people like her face in real life from your typical Middle School quiet kid to a problematic BEAST's drunker so besides her being your wifeu who really is kikuri hero well kikuri as you may know is a side character from a manga or anime series called aoi The Rock with her being the lead vocalist for her band known as a sick hack hack I mean either way both names suits her and even though she has limited screen time in the series viewers really took a liking to her and because of how loved she was an official manga spin-off based on her was created although I'm not really sure if it's c Cannon I think I read somewhere that it isn't but who really cares inject that directly into my veins so to the surprise of absolutely no one the manga delves into kikuri and her struggles with being a drunkard and we're introduced to her bandmates first up is shimuzu Eliza British guitarist who radiates all things sunshine and rainbows then there's iash Shima the cool-headed drummer and quite possibly the only sane person out of the three and together they form the chaotic band known as siik hack the manga kicks off with kukuri absolutely wasted and lost as she tries to call her bandmates for help but it didn't really work out Eliza being too focused being an attaku and Shima has just fed up with her shenanigans you'd think that she'd be serious about trying to go home at this point but nope she continues to drink even more and I'll be honest this pretty much sums up the entirety of the manga but what I find interesting is the fact with her Behavior throughout the manga elaborates more on how she's basically the drunk version of Boi first going back to the original manga in chapter 69 we saw how kikui is when she's sober and abstained from alcohol for Just 2 days with drawn with a weak voice and worries about everything an absolute nervous train wreck and we can see more of this in a spin-off manga of how we saw hints of her being the quiet kid in middle school and when Eliza visits kikuri as she's having an existential crisis worrying about taxes global warming and telling herself that she needs to change her ways but instantly goes back to her usual self when alcohol touched her lips kind of like me but with coffee I find this really intriguing because when kikuri was first introduced and told Boi that she used to be like her I was under the impression that she overcame her anxiety but it never occurred to me that she's still suffering from from it and uses alcohol as a coping mechanism that being said alcohol as a coping mechanism for social anxiety is actually a real thing as science suggests that consuming it provides a sense of relief but there's a big butt long-terms effects of alcohol could potentially make it worse along with other complications so as a character kiku's behavior is a very self-destructive from using other people for the sake of drinking to resorting to gambling to up expenses from drinking and cost of living just how much of her comic relief character mirrors the people of today well let me just say that kikuri hiroi is actually based off a real life musician as one of the comments that I received kindly pointed it out with even the both of them sharing their last name Margaret hooy from the band 88 K show junr who is also the vocalist SL bases of their respective bands and the official manga even directly reference one of the band's music videos now the commenter did say that a person is also suffering from alcohol consumption but upon further research all I can find is a Reddit comment that claims that a vocalist also got wasted on stage and social media posts of them showing large alcohol bottles so there is no real evidence that the problems portrayed by kikuri is based on this person but regardless of whether there's a connection between the two in terms of alcoholism the problem kikuri portrays is real kiku's happiness spiral although presented as a gag isn't so far off to what alcoholism actually looks like in real life firstly the person fantasizes about alcohol proceeds to get irritated because they don't have one starts having existential dread as they try to get alcohol and by far the most dangerous part of this is alcohol tolerance which builds up over time as they have to increase consumption to get the desired effect which then turns into temporary satisfaction and then back to being sober when comparing this to real world depictions as shown in this image you'd see that it's pretty accurate but what's even more deadly is when alcoholism is used as a coping mechanism because now it's not only for satisfying their Cravings it turns into an unhealthy way to keep up with everyone else and in the case of kikuri she uses this to temporarily get rid of her anxiety there isn't much scenes where we get to see kiku's anxiety but there is one in the spin of manga where she got to drunk and ended up in a far away place and for some reason she tries to climb a mountain but on her way up we can see how truly vulnerable she is thoughts of the future began haunting her anxiety slowly creeping up as she asked herself if she can keep this up until she realizes that the alcohol is wearing off and drinks another another one this is what she's trying to avoid to be full of vulnerability and anxiety when faced with others and to the unfortunate people in real life this is how they cope with even some of the people suffering from social anxiety saying alcohol was the best thing that happened to them imagine living your whole life filled with Dread anxiousness and constant fear trying everything in the book to make it better cognitive behavioral therapy stepping out out of your comfort zone thousands of dollars spent on self- health books and medication with none of them working only for it to go instantly away under the influence of alcohol you would trade anything to feel like fat again won you like a St at that's been fed milk they keep coming back because once they get a taste of f they will never look back and that's the Dilemma that many people with anxiety and alcoholism deal with which really makes you think how people like her really live their lives we've seen how chaotic and how Lively she is and we've seen a glimpse of her actual self and as cruel as it is this addiction became a need for her to function in society and to keep on living ironically what allows her to live her life is also the one that's slowly poisoning her do you think her drunk version of herself destroys her authenticity and a sense of identity many people becomes different when they're drunk a new personality quirks and characteristics take over and the more a person gets used to this drunken State the more their real side suffers the moment they get sober people start calling them uninteresting unappealing boring and there's nothing that hurts more to someone with anxiety than being called those things it also really makes you wonder how will the author take the character of kikuri heroy forward with her seemingly getting worse every time she appears on panel something will eventually break you may argue that this is a wholesome series and the author might not include something as Grim as that but Nika and se's backstory says otherwise and the author will probably do it again well I didn't mean to go that deep after all it's a feel-good manga series as one might say but I guess all I want to say is that it's amazing how the author incorporates stuff like this in their work as I feel like every character in Bui The Rock mirrors a type of person in real life and as part of the audience it's fun to dissect and analyze it and view the series in another angle also I just want to say that I'm not suggesting people with anxiety to get drunk if what I said about alcoholism wasn't clear enough and if you're experiencing any of the stuff I mentioned then please please please go see a mental health professional also most of the stuff I said was of my own opinions so don't take it too seriously with that being said I just really want to see more of this amusing creature and if you haven't read either of the manga then go read it now but hey if you enjoyed this video about Boi The Rock then I got another video just for you right here and that's it for this one and I'll see you there
