The BIGGEST Spruce Tree I've Ever Removed

all right back day two with dr hingewood tree service we're in lincoln city oregon and we've got a big fat leaning spruce to do there's the tree we did yesterday um that chainsaw review with that tree i think we left here at like 6 30 or something that was actually that was a long day so a new house that uh i mean this old house is somebody just bought and they're fixing it up and they want to get this look at this nasty thing look at this fat daddy it's either a sitka or an engelman spruce i'm not sure but it's like tangled up in this there's a hemlock right here it's tangled up this thing is like really big it leans harder than you can probably tell over the house huge heavy limbs dude it's so much heavier than fur it's crazy it's like hard it's like technically it's a soft wood all that soft versus hardwood means is that if it has leaves it's a hardwood if it's a conifer it's a soft wood but some conifers are super hard and this this spruce is a lot harder than fur it's a lot heavier a lot denser so i'm going to climb to the top of this tree and probably set a tie-in spot and set a a speed line a zipline deal it's going to kind of suck because it's all tangled in this hemlock right here so i'm going to have to deal with that we have to cut a lot of that hemlock stuff out just so that we can try to rig this stuff we're gonna try to zip stuff that way and uh it's too i'm not gonna be able to get the whole thing today i don't i don't think it's it's it's huge dude that that one over there is was quite a bit smaller and that was a late day getting that done although we hauled all the wood and that took a long time anyways we're gonna get geared up i'm gonna start heading up those limbs are so big yeah this tree is gigantic so yeah we're just gonna get right at it and it's tall too you know i don't know how tall it is but it's really tall all these trees are tall we're right on the coast here like right by the ocean and it's a lot of like pine and spruce some fur but mostly spruce thank you what a beast dude [Applause] [Applause] [Music] wow [Music] [Applause] [Music] hmm [Applause] oh [Music] wow oh this branch is like totally healthy on this hemlock but it's gonna be a nightmare if i don't cut it out okay um oh dude wow [Music] wow all that stuff you've dragged out so far that's like two limbs the brush on this thing ah man i'm glad i uh brought my long rope if i were to use my 120 footer i wouldn't be able to get it to the ground dude this thing just keeps going and going all right man it took me a while to get up here this is a this is the tall one so i set the zip line up high because for a few reasons one it's just the higher it is the the more easily it'll work i guess the more lift you get also by tying it up here first of all i'll be double tied in while making all those large cuts and second of all i'll be able to swing out on those long limbs out there and i'll be able to zip like clip them on halfway so that when the branches fall over they're not so long you know if i time it the butt they hang super low if i time in the middle of the branch they don't hang so low so just take it took a little while to get up here but i cleared out the hemlock i cleared out all the little stuff that was in my way i've got the high tie-in spot tyler went to go grab a grapple for that mini skid um we just had forks on it so he went to grab that and uh so i'm gonna go back down to the bottom now and we're gonna start speed lining these bad boys these limbs are freaking huge back on the rope runner see how this thing does [Applause] okay i got one on the other thing i really like about speed lining is you don't have to you save a lot of time not having to pull the rope up and down a bunch and also you eliminate the possibility of it getting sucked away back to the block ugh um all right tie down you can see i've got it tied on in the middle right there and this is so far been really frustrating it's a lot of getting tangled up in those trees i had to cut a bunch of branches out of the other trees and so it's we're not quite in the groove yet but once we get a little higher we'll be but you can see these limbs are long i'm halfway are you ready buddy yeah it's just a million more to do like that i'll start recording again when we're a little higher hopefully we'll be in the groove of things because right now that was the smoothest one this is it's also tedious getting the rope back to me so we're still trying to get in the groove of things um but yeah we're finally set up it's in a tricky spot so we brushed out quite a bit i've had the camera off for about an hour it's been a lot of fumbling around the brush has been really tangly but we're starting to get in the groove of things we got the machine now and now it's starting to go smoothly yeah it was a real pain in the butt down in that area yeah all right all right now it's starting to go smooth i think in another 20 feet i'll be able to start grabbing the rope myself sweet yeah we're getting a good angle now you're halfway there bro yeah it's actually we are halfway there yeah we are yeah you're right we'll get her brushed up yeah it's 11 39. i've been at this almost four hours yeah buddy good good you said you're gonna try to locate a gas line is that what you guys are looking for something yeah a gas line water line yeah so uh whenever you need to get in there just let us know all right we're good to go for a minute maybe maybe we can break away at lunch and they can do their digging or something hundred more limbs yeah just a hundred more [Applause] that's good that's good all right yeah nice all right that was the best one yet yeah man now we got these branches to fight though oh yeah dang it i might be able to yeah whatever [Music] yeah all right we're ready all right dude this tree stout dude i can't even hardly feel you tugging on it yeah we're putting a lot of things down dude yeah i like see how tight the rope's getting and i'm like dude i don't even feel that awesome [Music] i can't believe how these limbs hang on i have one more limb to speed line and then i'm out of slingshot dude i bet you i'm 120 feet right here dude this is tall i'm more than twice the height of that power pole i'm at least 100 feet i used to have this sweet laser like a range finder when i worked at east side i would just shoot the ground from up in the tree and just know exactly how high it was awesome i would even like measure trees to see how where it's gonna land and stuff like okay it's 150 feet tall this is where it's gonna land yeah or i'd climb with it just shoot the ground every once in a while [Music] there we go yeah i can't believe how tough those limbs are dude it's weird cause like spruce and fur from a distance look really similar but their wood is so different when you're cutting it got it yep oh you got that way out there [Music] um what all right come on i have three slings left all right got another fat daddy tied up okay you ready all right i'll do two on the next one two at once they're pretty small well nothing on this tree is small but smaller than that so [Applause] wow yeah [Applause] yeah yeah hmm um i threw my chain i'm gonna need gas too so it's not a big deal such a discouraging sound you know i didn't do undercuts on two of those i just tried to power through and and it peeled and popped ripped my chain off okay come on um wow sweet nice that's crazy dude how far you're getting them all right pretty uh monotonous for a little while i'm gonna drop the camera again so i think we start on this tree around eight o'clock it's now two o'clock so you know six hours so far from this tree uh i we're gonna eat lunch it's so much work for me to go down to the ground to eat and then come all the way back up so um they're just gonna tie on some food i'm just gonna eat in here you know i actually i actually was up there a minute ago i dude i actually peed out of this tree i had to go so bad and i've been up here for a while i kept thinking i could hold it so you've missed a lot since the camera's been off i got a jacket because it got pretty breezy i went and i peed out of the tree and nobody could even tell i was hiding in the ranches and now they're gonna tie on some food gonna eat some lunch and then uh get the top out of this thing i'll get a trunk down a little bit today but we're not gonna get the whole thing done today but it's moving along i'm gonna try to like cut a few branches and just toss them just so i have a place to sit all right yeah i'll take that food on whenever you see the grease oozing out of the i'm having a hard time picturing a burger shaped anything in this bag the burger is a little bit warped but it'll work i want this fry sauce oh you know what i can do i can put my leg got it all right i'm never coming back to the ground dude i got everything i need up here send me a sleeping bag dude oh dude they're eagles how cool is this tree work right by the water way up here eating lunch up here eagles yeah it's crazy all right i got it [Music] bang i know you're watching this i need you to make climber friendly shaped aluminum cans i don't think it's too much to ask need a 12 ounce not a 16. need a i need a carabiner loop and i need it to seal that's what i need or this sponsorship is over so i'm going to until my saw's too small and then just come down yeah does that sound good yeah that's fine so let me make sure it's semi clear where you're gonna be flopping wood yeah if you can push rounds right here like by this log right here in front of me on top can i put them like towards those stumps yeah that would be if you could hit it even closer to here that would be great just don't hit the stump yeah i could put them like i wanted to bounce you know towards those stumps would be good for me it'd be epic man yeah sounds great i'll just do one at a time okay sounds good dude you got all the room in the world so awesome so you want me to just just just firewood to my heart's content yep until you're happy i'm pretty happy that tops out man yeah that's a relieving feeling for sure to accomplish those uh that was quite the tree dude i've been up here for a long time a lot of tree for sure all right rope out yep we can put that rope away um let me know when you start cutting because we got a little bit of material to move back here yeah i can wait man oh wait a minute tell me what you just told me when okay sounds good just be a minute i'm way up here i'm just cutting firewood it's easier for them it's you know it's like i think i explained it in the last video but big pieces they get covered in dirt those guys got to deal with it and move them somebody's got to cut this into firewood may as well be me i'm up here it's so easy you know so i'm just going to cut firewood until just for a little while i'm kind of tired it's i don't know 3 3 30 i'll come down once the wood gets real beefy and we'll finish this pig tomorrow [Applause] um do they fall forever yeah it's probably 30 feet taller than where i'm at right now third [Music] what do you what do you think do
