The Best Budget Runes in Guild Wars 2

do you dump hundreds of gold and gear in your characters in best in slot equipment are you tired of not being able to play fashion Wars 2 to its fullest it's time to lower your standards put on your Frugal hat and save your gold with the best budget runes in the game in my many years of playing Guild Wars my biggest expense by far has been gearing out my many old characters whenever I'll create a new character I would always get the best runes sigils food you name it fortunately I'll stop before I got to infusions that was only because I ran out of gold by that point for years this meant I would always be running short of gold and not being able to drop fat stacks on legendaries these days I have multiple Legendary Weapons every set of raid legendary armor legendary runes legendary sigils and slightly less food than I probably should have but I'll be so much further ahead if I just chilled out when I was gearing out my old characters I would have also messed around with far more bills and classes if I didn't have to drop this insane amount of gold whenever I wanted to play something new so today we're going to look at the best budget runes in the game that you can easily grab off the Trading Post so you can spend less time farming and more time playing dress-ups I've gone through and compared the prices for all the runes in the game and grabbed what I think are the best budget ruins in the game but the purposes of this video I've really gone through and looked at runes that are less than 50 silver each once you start looking at runes that are above 50 silver it makes more sense just to go for the best in slot ruins rather than spending gold on a temporary solution we'll also only be considering runes that can be bought directly from the trading post this is because some of the account bound currencies can take a little bit of time for newer players to get like in my previous video we're going to break these runes down into Power condition damage healing and Boon support and we're going to be looking for runes that can replace our typical best in slot runes first looking at Power damage runes we're going to be looking for something that can typically replace Rune of the scholar in most cases scholar is going to be the best in slot ruin you're looking for however let's take a look at some of the options we have at our disposal here first up we're going to look at Rune of The Pact this Rune gives you the same amount of additional power as ruined the scholar as do most of the power runes we're looking at today it also gives you some extra Precision which can get you closer to Quick capping especially when you're running exotic gear rather than ascended this is a very good thing also Grant yourself and Ally some nice offensive Boons while you're in combat which pairs very well with the Boon duration that comes with this range this is a very nice room for solo play equally if your class does not have easy access to might Fury and swiftness this is very similar to roon of the fireworks which is much more expensive which is what I normally run on my power Vindicator when running solo so it was a real nice alternative here it can also patch up might and fury uptime in disorganized dungeon or fractal groups if you need it and coming in at just under 20 silver each this Rune is significantly cheaper than ruin the scholar next up we have the Rune of strength if your class generates a lot of Might naturally that is not a bad idea to double down on it with the Rune of strength here you get a fat 50 extra might duration and depending on the class you may even cap Mite when running solo it also includes a 5 damage increase when you have might which is going to be basically all the time for most classes not only is this room really cheap just under 10 silver it's also historically been a nice option for doing Support classes like mechanists so you can easily Supply 25 mightier group while this room doesn't give you the most damage other runes we're looking at today there's a lot of value in this extra mic duration and it's in insanely cheap next up on our list we have roon of plain Legion this happens to be the cheapest Rune that we're going to be looking at today at just over four silver a piece while the extra burning duration you get is somewhat wasted on power builds the seven percent damage modifier to burning foes is very good if you can keep up some stacks of Bernie on your opponent this modifier will be permanent which helps bring this a little bit closer to scholar it's not a bad rune for power Dragon Hunter which has some burning baked into the build and can actually make use of that extra burning duration there are better budget power runes out there but this one is extremely cheap so it has that going for it next up we have the Rune of infiltration this Rune has lots of extra Precision to get you closer to crit capping all the power you expect plus a very nice six bonus 10 extra strike damage is a massive modifier below 50 Health the same deal as Rune of the eagle on top of this you get 5 Seconds of vigor whenever you go into stealth obviously this makes this Rune very suited to Power Thief builds where you can land those Omega backstabs it's certainly not bad on other power classes but Thief is definitely the class that makes the most use of this Rune set and coming in at 10 silver each you're getting great value out of this Rune plus the extra big you get is super handy one of my personal favorites is the ruin of vampirism while this isn't the highest damage Rune of the bunch you just get some extra power from the room bonuses and some extra Vitality the sixth bonus however is really fun for open world each time you kill an enemy you are healed for 10 of your maximum health with no internal cooldown this makes this a really good choice if you want a room that's actually going to make your life easier it's time to look down on those Halls of pocket Raptors and Whisper hello that's six silver H and given how good the sixth bonus of this Rune is in open world you could do far worse than ruined vampirism if I had to pick one Rune of these to replace scholar it would have to be roon of the eagle each stat bonus here is relevant to power classes unlike the burning duration from Balthazar runes or the Vitality from vampirism the bonuses you get are relatively similar to Rune of the scholar already you just get a bit of extra precision and a slightly different damage modifier which is also very sweet towards the end of the fight moving on to the condition damage runes here we're looking for something to replace Rune of The Nightmare as well as some of the other condition specific runes like your Rune of tormenting and Rune of the crate there are less choices for condition damage runes compared to power however we do have some nice choices here you can offer my favorite of the budget condition damage ruins we have runes Lich runes Lich gives us 19 extra condition duration instead of the 20 from Nightmare And Trades the extra condition damage for vitality and the ability to summon a little bunny to tank attacks for us speak hide there the Vitality here is a little wasted on DPS classes but given how much extra condition duration you get and just how cheap this room it's hard to beat it I also note that the ruined the Tempest gives you 25 extra condition duration but it's more on the expensive side so I wouldn't call it a great budget choice I love this Rune and just how cheap it is plus you can role play even harder as a minion monster the next few runes aren't necessarily budget Alternatives they're simply the best in slot runes for some classes that happen to be absurdly cheap the Runa Balthazar it's the best room for Condi Firebrand plus lots of extra burning duration if most of your damage happens to come from burning this one's going to be your best bet a room to be afflicted if you do mainly bleeding and poison this one's a great choice your flat condo duration and both extra bleeding and conditioned duration baked in now it's time for the healing runes it's going to be quite hard to find anything to replace ruined the monk the insane healing modifier on the sixth bonus is just leagues ahead of what you'll see on all the other healing room as colonian catacombs is also a fairly easy dungeon to run and within a few days you can have all the dungeon tokens you need to get yourself a full set of macaroons with this in mind there are a few decent options I think however these are a fair way behind we're in the monk first up with Rune of rebirth the Rune of the rebirth is identical to rooner the monk in all but the six bonus instead we get some extra healing power which is nice and every 90 seconds we get to ignore a lethal blow more or less get a do-over for whenever we mess up due to this rather handy six bonus there's actually a really good ruin for hand kiting on damos when messing up will cause your entire group to wipe you also get the extra Boon duration which given most healing classes also provide Boon support makes this a decent choice but the runes we're looking at today this is the one I'd probably slot in place of root of the monk if I was forced to now we'll quickly touch on Rune of the flock personally I much prefer Rune of rebirth over ruining the flock the extra Boon duration is much more useful than the extra Vitality you're going to get here however you do get some extra healing output on the sixth bonus compared to the Rune of rebirth which is on a reasonably short cooldown if you paired this with a low cooldown healing skill you can milk some extra value out of this ruin set as a temporary placeholder for monk runes you could do far worse than this and both of these runes are coming at around 10 silver each so these are really cheap on the trading post earn Support classes are a little bit odd in that they'll either just run a rune that provides some extra burn duration like Rune of leadership or ruin the Firebrand or just run a straight damaging Rune if they don't need the extra Boon duration so if your Boon support class of choice just runs a damaging Rune take a look back at the best budget power or condition damage raise if you need the extra Boon duration and will normally run something like a leadership Rune then you can either look at the Rune of the pack which we discussed earlier or if you're a condition damage Boon support class then there's a lot to love about the Rune of the traveler depending on the build it may even be the best in slot Rune Choice condylac Renegade can even run this one in fractals provided you have high enough Agony resistance to make up for some extra burn duration complicated segue not for today back to the Rune you get 15 Boon duration great plus 36 to all stats nice 10 extra Edition diameter and damage slaps and 25 movement speed such convenience honestly this Rune provides a lot given just how cheap it is even just the 25 movement speed increase can feel super nice to have in open world outside that there aren't really any other cheap options for burn support either you're on a damage in your own a more expensive Rune or maybe even a rune of leadership if you happen to need a lot of extra Boon duration you can think of any other cheapest chip spoon support runes let me know in the comments below with that you no longer need to drop fat stacks of gold and gearing up your dozens of old characters instead you can take that gold you would have spent and invest it Eagle is a great choice for pve on a budget, or even just those classes that got shafted hardest by loosing the banner precision bonus.

And they’re arguably better if you’re going into an encounter with a lot of damage as unless your healers are amazing, the +10% damage to things under 50% health is actually superior to +5% damage when your health is over 90%.

After my last video going through the best runes in the game there were a lot of requests for some cheaper alternatives that are actually rather decent (looking at you Rune of the Eagle). So here's my breakdown of some of the cheapest runes in the game which are surprisingly useful. Now I'm stuck with a newfound love of Rune of the Lich which I wish I new about sooner.

Strength runes are very underrated for a budget open world power build for a newer player. Most builds in the game have access to might now, but not all classes can comfortable cap it at 25 might, especially on their own. The 50% duration, extra power and guaranteed 5% strike damage are very nice for casual play. An added bonus for heavy armor users, the named berserker level 80 exotic set, "Devona's", comes with strength runes already attached, making it even more of a budget set.

Runes are one of the worst parts about gearing. Until you have full legendary, you're pretty much guaranteed to be throwing money down the toilet to stay current with the meta because runes generally can't be removed, and a full set of 6/7 can be quite spendy. Viable budget-friendly runes are great to have, even if they aren't functional on all builds due to some requiring more min-maxing.

I have up a while ago on gear and running alts. Lol

After looking at the costs I just slapped them all with easy to make and buy diviner and berserker gear and weapons and fine of the pact or eagle for them all.

If only I had the 3k gold to buy my way to legendary sigils and runes to ignore this overpriced mess. Lol
