Testing a New Argentavis Trap! - ARK Ascended (Ep.5)

well good morning my friends and welcome back to Ark I did a little bit of work on the cabin overnight last night I also got a whole bunch of stuff packed up from the raft and transported up here so let's have a look so inside here I'm kind of working on a loft up here on the right side along with a just some like hallways basically for storage and then out here this is where we're going to have a big extended porch overlooking the bay here what a good view out here it's awesome I figured we'd just open up get some fresh air in here and um I don't think it'll be an issue in terms of keep keep dinosaurs out or anything so what I'm thinking eventually is that I will continue with the floor pieces up there and we'll make a sort of a loft and then I don't know what we'll do cuz I don't like that it's just big flat rooftops so I think I'll have like um like an extension that I build out this way it won't it won't protrude out I I don't know what the like the architectural style like how to describe this or or what to call it it'll just be like a loft we'll call it a loft for now there'll be a loft up here where we have um kind of more like a living Comfort area where the bed's going to be and such and then down here will be for storage and crafting nice big crafting room kind of remains to be seen if I'll do the same thing on this side where I just kind of open it up I just like having the view it's otherwise it's kind of dark in here kind of Stuffy you know okay so last night I crafted myself an argentavis saddle so I have that I also have the doic saddle from the last time and a Pteranodon sadle I'd like to get all three of those creatures crafted that's my goal for today or for the next couple of days probably I'm sure there will be pitfalls along the way no crap but I was also looking at some cooking recipes and I was looking into the kibble situation it's um I don't know that I'm quite ready I did find a drop there a couple days ago with these um citronal in it but I've lost a lot of them to spoilage I have a couple of good dinosaur eggs I could make Superior kibble if I got prime meat and made Prime jerky and it's a bit of a process I just I don't think I'm quite ready to do it I could basically probably produce one kibble at this point so I don't know about that anyway so yeah we got to get out of here first I need to find myself a Pteranodon again for like the fourth time and then we need to fly up into the mountains build an argentavis trap and hopefully t argentavis then I need to find a dodicis and um bring all of that back to the base here some of the stone up there is actually starting to respawn and some of the trees from the the initial Harvest there I think anyway and so uh yeah I want to get the dodicis back here so that I can use him to harvest the Stone from now on and therefore get a lot more bang for our buck okay so I think I'm going out on foot um I don't yeah all the dinosaurs are super slow that's another thing I need to get a fast Master dinosaur I need to get male dinosaurs both of the rexes are female so I want to start breeding them if anything just to get some I think they're considered a large egg or a extra large egg so that's good for Kibble production holy crap man there's just so much to do this this game really it um it's not lacking for for stuff to do you can always find something but the something that I want to do right now is find myself a Pteranodon man they were all over the place here earlier I haven't seen one for a couple of days now whatever we'll keep keep searching there's got to be one around here somewhere I can see some up ahead in fact I got a little confused there a second ago I was like didn't I have a pterodon at the end of the last episode but yeah then the game crashed and I lost him so yep that's why I have the three Bas in the inventory still okay bit of a fight on our hands here good thing I made some rifle ammo though and hang on a second I'll check and see briefly yeah level 26 I don't think we need that get a good head shot in and wa he's still alive tough guy over here here can I just kill him with the spear now or is this way too risky it's seeming very risky oh boy that will do it just um all I'm doing is testing my durability here all right anything worth my time in here I do need keratin oh a little bit of prime meat that could go toward a tame if I can get one that Pteranodon that I saw was where was he he was over here somewhere all right I'm locked onto a couple of pteranodons up ahead here they're all Airborne so I'll have to wait for one to come down but um this is our ticket right here let's check and see what levels they are we have 10 40 okay that's probably the best one and 15 okay so we're we're looking for her right there the green winged one okay there she is up ahead get the Bas out oh no no no no no no no she's going to fly away come on I can still get her and Let It Go got her oh she could possibly drown over there though that would not be good yeah I think that's what's about to happen here suppose I could check and see if there's another one around here level 20 over there couple of stos there's a terror bird down there looks all clear okay yeah he's she is free I should say I'm going to just let her go somewhere a little bit safer yeah and I think she is trying to land cuz she's tired right now oh come on no no no not way up there how about that oh that didn't work there we go oh no not again whatever I'm going to try it I also heard that if it's you wait 3 seconds there we go okay are you drowning I don't know but I got to get this prime meat in before it spoils okay pterodon definitely underwater right now pretty sure it's just going to die here in a second okay I I really I don't know for sure what's happening here I'm going to leave him to it and uh continue working yep it's uh it's definitely dead over there okay my bad we'll try to avoid the river next time wo wo wo wo wo Raptors that I think that's an alpha Raptor too oh egg I'll take that if I can oh boy are they right behind me yes kind of oh crap that's an alpha Raptor that is bad news only level seven pretty sure I don't have the capacity to kill him though anyway that is my new Pteranodon just going to shoot you in the face don't mind me did I kill him I crap I I'm so bad at this oh I can drag though it's a it's a double how did I do that double tap on E okay I wonder if I can do that if they're knocked out how do I put them down there we go okay learning things today I do want to get this drop though containing couple of saddles in there I'll go through them in a second when I'm not in the water next up is this female level 15 okay by the way that was a ascendant py s saddle and what else did I get there there's two more there's a blueprint for a foma saddle and a carbon Emma saddle nothing good anyway oh goodness look what I found dossus level 26 well that's pretty perfect that's a we're going in reverse order that was supposed to be number three on the taming list but I will take it I don't know quite how to tame him though I think you have to if you Tran him I think then oh just fights back okay I thought for a second he was going to curl up into a ball okay I guess we can do it this way oh yes this is is the phase we're at the phase where he curls up into a ball and um do I just Club him after that try to work on these insects too H is this how we do it now or is he Invincible I think he's Invincible I got to wait until he uh comes out of his shell a little bit I'll kind of stand back and wait for him okay he just came out and I've been Gathering up some berries for the inevit tame here come on show me your face and I think he's out and ready to be tamed now what is that guy doing crap I got spat on it's fine I think we're okay here we'll go with the meob berries here you see if that works he appears to be taming it'll just take some time okay I got to now defend oh boy Raptor okay good I'm at the stage of the game where I can actually survive a close Raptor encounter I say that and then I'm I'm actually starving to death I'm My Own Worst Enemy I swear that guy is going nutso over there what is he doing if I'm lucky this guy here will Land close by level 18 okay come on over here buddy not in the water please come on straight this way you're doing great and yes perfect this time with the club jeez it would have been so much easier if I just did that from the beginning but um like I said before I got to learn my lessons the the hard way sometimes regular meat I think will do it okay we're just guarding our tames now okay getting attacked by a Pana I think get out of here man what are you doing take care of that guy and I'm going to take care of this foma here it's foma right yep and I will take out the baby because the baby is going to have I think prime meat yes it definitely does and that will help on the pterodon team 48 wow okay inevitably at some point this will become much more intuitive for me because I have to like think all of the stuff through from beginning to end and it's just not like instinctive to me yet okay got to also work on your torpidity a little bit so put that in there eat a couple of Narcotics give me that back and I think that will do make an incremental progress in the dodicis over here it's taking so long I'm almost of a mind to just go get a Rex and come come back down here for defensive purposes and then we'll just do like a whole whole Entourage back to the base oh shoot I just made it like halfway over here and I can see now that the Pteranodon has actually tamed so okay that that kind of changes things and I don't want to leave him there if he's tamed I'm heading back okay I have returned to the level only level 24 that's sad okay we're going to name this one Manny okay so at least that gives us an option to get out of here quickly of course I can't move because he doesn't have any weight does he shoot okay I can now I I Can Fly And I can get away if I have to good okay we're just playing the waiting game now for this guy and then I'll ride him back to the base stash him and we'll take Manny out solo for an argentavis that's the plan oh and great yep there's a level 70 Pteranodon out there I wonder what his weight's going to be wh oh here we go welcome to the team cuddle Minsky all right yeah as much as I I'd love to go try to get that guy we have got to move on to more pressing things right now um give me your inventory and where's your saddle right there okay got to bring you back to the base now it's going to take forever wait don't I have a special um nope that's that's the poop button what's the roll button ah there it is that helps cuz that raptor is literally right behind me all right we finally made it uh we're off the beach we're home free now so that sets us up very nicely for stone harvesting in the future and we have a flyer albeit very low level flyer we're not going to be able to carry anything with Manny but better than nothing slightly okay I need to probably repair my armor that's quite an issue right now okay looking fresh now looking terrible actually probably should look into getting some of that uh whatever it's called Flack armor I think whoops and Manny has gotten himself completely stuck in here there we go come on out here buddy plant you right there and stay please yeah I guess um oh you know what I didn't make the FL armor yet cuz it's going to require oh uh never mind I think it's made here I thought it was going to be made in some other kind of a workbench but holy crap yeah this is very much doable right now I get the whole set let's do it yeah that doesn't even use that much metal to be honest you know what it's going to do though it's going to kill my weight probably and then Manny's not going to be able to fly me to the argentavis cuz I've got to carry that lb saddle and then we've got to build a trap once we get to the Argent Davis if we can even find one all right well future me problems for now I have a new set of armor okay brilliant oh we're looking mean now and I have a box oh I make like metal clinky sounds when I walk that's kind of funny so yeah I can just stash my old armor back in here this is all of my like kit item type things and I think with that we're pretty much ready to roll out if we even can roll out Manny where'd you go here he is no the weight it's too much it's why we got to get the argentavis I guess I'm going to have to change my armor set over just for today and then I'll of course I'll wear the the metal armor when I get back in fact I'll just go straight with the cloth armor right now for uh increased movement speed okay we're back to looking like a scrub here got to do what you got to do though here save the armor I will get that later on all right don't be a wuss yes he can fly now okay so we are off to find an RG and probably die many many times in the process hey a drop is it is it down no it's it's coming down I suppose I should wait for it then wait a minute isn't it if I can can I look at it from here or no I guess not oh there it is yeah I thought that there was a way I could see what's inside of it I guess that's not the case though although now I'm wondering if it's possible if I can fly up there and get it before it falls all the way down I don't I don't think that would be the case would it can I access while oh no yep crap I don't have a parachute Oh wrong button luckily I don't think that that hurts us too much I think the that Manny will fly back down when he's tired and I can scoop him back up again cuz yeah he's he's still way up there maybe I can just go Um Manny can you can you follow I don't think I can reach him okay yep give me the stuff back please yeah how do we how do we get Manny back down here surely he'll get tired eventually right and he'll come down and rest well while I'm waiting I guess I'll get the drop I'm getting the sense that he's just up there permanently that he's actually not even using stamina cuz he's just kind of hovering but what do we get here carbona saddle again parasaur saddle slingshot I don't I don't want any of that really I mean should I save it anyway I don't know I guess I'm going to wait a few minutes for Manny and see if he makes his way back down okay I've come up with a new plan I'm now crafting myself 23 I'll have roughly 25 ladders to to go up I'm going to build a foundation and I'm going to basically nerd pole up until I can get into whistle range and then hopefully get him to follow me okay just trying to get as close as I possibly can and we'll do just a thatch Foundation piece here with ladder ladder yes okay it's working I can just kind of build vertically and then hopefully can I build while I'm climbing it yes I can it's going to work don't worry Manny I'm coming for you I want that's I wish they would put something in that would prevent that or you know just make them run out of stamina and have to land like the Wild Ones do after a while all right well that there is the extent now how can I I'm not far enough I got to get more ladders oh boy H another problem I'm going to have is no I'm on the wrong side ah crap that doesn't help oh I'm going to have to jump off and die and do this whole thing over again aren't I maybe if I jump from high enough I can kind of there we yes just redirect slightly okay that worked this uh ladder here is going to be I just made an extra 40 so it's going to be 70 60 65 ladder pieces tall hey at least this is actually it's a good test for me to learn to do this because this could be a strategy to scale clifftops and um you know otherwise I think I'll I'll use this skill again someday and I'll even save all of the ladders and you know if this becomes an issue again I will have them in storage okay I'm at the top it's not letting me build anymore so yes I got him I he's now following me there we go thank goodness hello Manny okay oh he knocked me off you [ __ ] no crap oh my God could this go any more poorly it's kind of funny though and I'm having a good time so whatever he should be on ground level now Manny I am going to ritualistically slaughter you as soon as I get my argentavis so okay yeah just stay there for just a second though I will see if I'm hoping that if I just do pick up on this that yes it gave me all of them back all 50 ladder pieces okay so you can go up 50 pieces then it looks like and um where's my stuff it's uh oh right here cool okay good to know so I can nerd pole 50 pieces high if needed okay now I have 65 ladders I don't suppose you can fly me back can you nope too encumbered I'll have to go stash the ladders and I'll be right back you suppose it's worth it to craft a saddle for all of the T-Rexes and not share one just like have one for everyone yeah also we're losing daylight oh that gets me every time I'm like oh is that my cameraman did I forget to to hide him nope that's just my training dummy okay and so it would appear that I'm ready to go I'm going to fly to the nearest mountain and look for an argentavis it's going to be Nightfall so what we'll plan on doing is probably iding one finding a good location I'll spend the night harvesting resources in building my trap and then and we'll probably try to tame them up either late in the night or early in the morning so I will meet you over on the mountain tops okay I've reached the first of a couple of mountains that are out here and sometimes I see argentavis around here so kind of going to look around a little bit seems awfully quiet around here though tonight might be a good idea to to rest up and start making my way toward that bigger Mountain that's over there it's going to be quite a process hopefully I don't run into the dragonfly creature whatever that thing is called again cuz that's that's a sure death for the Pteranodon and then likely for me especially this far away from home we do have a level up pump that right into weight all right so Begins the slow process of trying to fly across the [Music] map [Music] [Music] all right I think that just about does it I found something cool over here guess I'll check it out speaking of cool I'm getting cold and I remember I think it's um it's too cold at night to go to the tippy top there explore note oh if I do that I have to like try to level up and stuff I'm going to leave that and save it for for when I'm better prepared to do some like power leveling like when I have a fresh tame to work on or something and let's maybe try and like park it up here I guess and kind of make a camp site I think this would be a good spot to set up it's nice and up here at least okay at the very least I can get myself a campfire set up here for warmth now we need to harvest up some resources in order to get the stone foundation pieces and whatever else I'll need for the Trap I think finally all the points that I spent into fortitude are paying off cuz I'm doing fine out here in just my cloth gear okay the sun is starting to rise here the chill is starting to dissipate the morning Sun's warming me up there I think the last thing I need here is a stone reinforced door so I looked up a guide on how to make a trap for an argentavis and that's what I'll be working off of here although I I didn't know I don't know if this is the correct door I feel like I needed a double door not entirely sure but this is the spot that I'm going to hopefully do my taming at I'll come right out here to the end so we have plenty of room to maneuver it's going to be stone foundation piece followed by four walls but we have to select the wall that's like the ones we're using at home that are just these like pillars like this and then we put uh the door oh it is a double door okay so as long as you're putting it in the right door frame it selects the correct door so this one goes to the side like that no we want those to open in did I yep okay so that's how that works and then we'll get there eventually just got to find the the correct point to there we go okay that's the one and just like that and so all I have to do is bring the RG in here he'll get stuck and then swing around open the door and that's supposed to pin him in here this is supposed to be a really good RG trap so we just need to find an ARG now easier said than done especially with this guy yeah he's encumbered already I definitely saw some argies on my way in here so oh Carno over there on the top of this damn Mountain really jeez can't catch a break yeah speaking of catching a break let's take a break up here and just um observe the view here what was that was that a raptor that just Dove off the C after me just fascinating now I don't see anybody around here hopefully I didn't lose them all in the night let's try the Sunny Side of the Mountain whoa look at this this is a huge ruin over here whoa I had no idea could you build a base up here would that be would it be worth it I mean you're kind of far away from everything but it'd be pretty cool and to build off the existing structure here man this is a nice place okay down Bel low I see some flyers that is the the quel over there though like I said before I don't I don't think I'm ready for that guy yet I think it's a complex taming process I could be wrong maybe it's just the regular old taming process I'll look into that but RG is number one on the list oh speaking of that I see one dead ahead and he is level 75 she female oh crap we're going to have to get prime meat after that too I have some regular meat in the inventory for this guy though in Manny's inventory so oh man beautiful level 15 I got to pay attention here cuz I need to land for stamina and I see creatures moving down here like a raptor right there maybe I what is that oh it's a drop coming in over there maybe I get lucky here and um whoop what was that oh yes a saber-tooth O Level 80 as well impressive sabertooths are pretty good too for certain caves I think oh there's a the the kangaroo dinosaur that we got the saddle for the other day he's right down there what what's that tail moving over here definitely a scorpion let's get out of here a last thing I need is poison I just spotted that RG he's back over here next to the drop he's proving to be a very tricky animal to track down though and I don't even know once I kind of lock onto him I don't know what I'm going to do cuz I don't think I have enough stamina to just straight fly up here to the Trap oh there he is right there okay so he's hanging out kind of down by the beach over here yeah y there he is I can see him man I should have built the Trap down here oh 75 is that the same one I think it is what do you think secondary trap here on the beach I think that's probably the best move I'm going to work on that for a little bit okay the Trap is reset now I need to find the guy again and I'm encumbered again jeez man what a process he is right there she take her out whoa whoa whoa whoa okay got to get her lined up perfectly right behind me and we're going to just narrowly hit this trap just like this and I think it worked I think it worked okay get off Manny Manny don't you dare Manny oh crap okay Manny can die that's okay Manny is definitely going to die I will have to do this on foot can you follow follow follow I would prefer to come on Manny don't do this to me yep totally Dead Oh kangaroo thing scared the crap out of me okay get ready he's got a little like green thing on him I don't know what that's all about okay come right down here try and soften him up a little bit while I'm at it same procedure just on foot this time and then trap you're trapped buddy you're mine I got him we lost Manny but the sacrifice was worth it hopefully okay I'm just going to slowly kind of Tran him out did I bring yes I brought the extra Tran with me so I can make some more Tran arrows if I need to going to have to get some primy meat off of this guy too somewhere I guess we'll see if the kangaroo has any wow what a good trap I I'm used to doing the whole Behemoth gate thing which is just such a process the Behemoth Gates take a lot of resources and I never could really get it to work all that well there's my saddle back and the meat which was the original plan for this guy but I think we can look for a baby out here somewhere get some PR meat let's try that guy too whoa whoa whoa whoa whoa okay just running away in a weird Direction yeah there's no way that's prime meat there is it oh no it's fur that's good okay dodo no dodo baby parasaur no parasaur baby I don't know but I'm kind of reaching the end of the beach where it turns into like this Mangrove swamp so um could be could be very dangerous to go in here any further oh is that a baby it's a baby good good good just give me that wh give me all of that okay we have we have like nine or 12 prime meat right now I'm going to run back and see if that's enough for the RG we're back he's still there he's still unconscious she she is still there she is still unconscious and yeah I think we're going to make out very well here so take all the prime meat you can eat and now we just got to wait it out so the uh the Channel that I got this trap idea from excuse me is uh Captain fat dog is the name of the channel what did you steal from me oh all of my narcotic good thing I got that back yeah Captain fat dog he makes awesome short little videos on how to make traps so maybe we'll try a couple of his designs out and see how they perform wow finally that took quite a while and the name for this one is going to be Deanna the banana AKA banana there we go so to get you out I think we just closed close the door and I slap on the saddle for you wait a minute um I brought the wrong saddle I brought the carbon emis s saddle and not the argentavis saddle although I can craft them in my inventory so that's going to require a lot of keratin hide and fiber oh man what a mistake I'm I'm so prone to making mistakes in this game it's it's it's ridiculous I was looking at my inventory earlier too and I was like why did why do I have that carbon emis saddle with me and I was like well oh well I guess I'll just carry it with me okay buddy we're going to take the beach back and hopefully I can get a saddle for you along the way you need to find some bugs bugs or those trelly things aha bugs just killed this big crocodile here I haven't figured out a good strategy for bugs yet just swing wildly in the air until they're all dead oh wow whoo whoa whoa whoo man uh help me help me help me yeah I'm thinking going through the swamp bad idea oh my God yeah I'm going to have to chance it through the forest I think oh hey I just found an Explorer note here okay good to know if I can get the saddle crafted in the next couple of seconds then I will grab that and we'll try to do some leveling on our way home oh yes yes give me the bugs give me the bugs oh c i I need six more keratin good to go give me one more bug here we go we got him yes Harvest and that is all I needed right there give me arent Davis saddle that's the one right there holy goodness good thing that didn't require like metal ingots we'd be hoofing it all the way home and it's done okay come here banana you are getting a saddle and we are getting out of here thank goodness and this is like a crafting saddle too right so I can I can make stuff on the saddle that I otherwise wouldn't be able to make in my inventory okay we're heading straight over here to grab this explore note I think uh go my free Cur okay I can't turn off the dialogue so we're going to have to listen to it for a second or I'll just mute it maybe yeah I'm going to head back um toward home and just start killing some stuff along the [Applause] way [Applause] okay that was quite a rampage there and my bonus my XP bonus is about to run out I've already spent something like 20 levels and I've got another 32 in the bank here debatable I guess weight and melee damage are the most important things though right so let's try to get weight up to like a th000 that's actually only like 10 points and then we'll do melee damage up to 1,000 almost 900 wow and remember there's another Explorer note up on the mountain we could do this whole thing all over again while we're out here and get this guy leveled up as much as possible we could even see if there's maybe a male that we could trap tame and bring with us that way we could start breeding okay I'm feeling it I'm feeling another Rampage here 85 female right there oh we could have a backup I have the two Saddles anyway and I have the prime meat on me I think it's worth a try we could just bring them right over to the Trap and then while this one's taming oh another one up there we could uh do the Rampage right wait why can't I see your level uh oh my God female 145 holy too I'm doing it I think the one I'm on right now is like level 130 or something I should be able to just okay we got the stamina we W jeez not really okay just put it down replenish the stamina a little bit and uh we're going to grab this one we're going to have two females oh who's that is that that male that I just saw there level 10 H I can't see turn around female 55 holy crap there a bunch of pretty good ones around here okay that's the one we want though bring them to the Trap okay just just give her a little nibble we'll be fine we can take it okay and proceed to the Trap all right whoop whoop oh I I I can't I can't do it with this okay that presents a slight complication okay put you down put you on passive um stay and crap I got to I got to do this myself and hope that I don't set off some sort of an RG on RG battle ooh that did a considerable amount of damage there okay hopefully they don't fight each other here now line her up and bring her straight this way yes yes yes it's working into the Trap please and shut you in I mean it makes sense that I couldn't fly through the Pteranodon can fly through this this is not a good Pteranodon trap for sure and oh she is beaten up I don't know if she's going to live man that rifle shot did like a th000 damage my bad and oh no I killed it I killed it I feel bad now that's a shame well I'll take the I was thinking it was going to be prime meat I guess not ah what a Pity little bit of prime meat there well we could continue the search for a male I'd rather have a male anyway or we could just do the um you know do the leveling up thing what's this anyway just a bunch of junk okay I'll take the RG feet reset my trap just in case a man what a bummer and I'm starting to get cold which makes me think yeah it's getting a little bit later on into the day need to start thinking about heading back soon yeah and I'm I'm starting to die here a little bit okay where was that the thing oh jeez I'm going to freeze to death okay yeah we can't do this anymore we got to get off this mountain okay yes I'm off the mountain and we are safe from dying I just need to replenish my health now couple of sabertooths over here I'm just going to murder them why not murder everything while I'm at it I am slightly starving to death might have to just snack on berries and hope for the best crap I'm cold again okay we just we're getting out of here now I don't have the clothing for this kind of stuff I hope I find that stupid dragonfly I'm going to fight it next time oh the stamina on this guy is so much better I can just fly uninterrupted through here don't have to worry about anything okay quick pit stop here for a blue drop if I can get it in time keeping an eye on it the whole way over here and we get hey a good Pike Mastercraft Pike oh see 125 this one is 182 that's way better than the pike that I have and we get some building materials to boot that's cool uh the quz oh look that one's pretty up there with the the light kind of shining through it a little bit oh that is fire love it oh oh wait that's not a quel that's a tapara level 59 huh okay okay I never even heard of that before to do some research and see what these things are good for and how to tame them you know what I meant to do while I was out too was get some obsidian and bring that home with me I got got a little bit panicked there when I almost died from cold exposure I should have put a bed out there too so we could just respawn in the area Okay uh we we learned a few good lessons for this trip here I think I think we're pretty good though I think what I'm going to do now what I'm going to do I'm going to head back I'm going to kind of get things reorganized and get a plan going get my good set of armor on and um I think we'll call it right here we'll pick things up and in the next episode I think I'm going to try to get another Argent Davis and I'm going to start looking into kibble
