all of these logs in the hot sun gotta clear them all out tiller ain't none worth that tiger cat to death till the job's done and we do it all again good [Music] [Applause] [Music] out there one is [Music] but i'll have to hang around for my [Music] [Applause] [Music] only liars say they don't hey guys well we're on month two here at bladen county uh we're on the 800 acre track it's uh it's a good track of timber as far as i mean the ground is it's a swamp but it's not unmanageable i mean it's got um a hard pan under and uh the track is big enough that we're gonna have to make a few interior roads to keep the dist the pool distance under a mile i mean it's a 800 acres a lot of a lot of timber to cut but um when we first got here it was really wet and the road was giving us a fit we ended up putting about 15 or 20 loads of rock in the road and of course we got about i don't know 80 mats but the roads dried up now as hard as concrete matter of fact uh it's real dusty right now and um the deck that we've been on now for the past couple months is we're we're cleaning up this deck we're going to move around to a little spur road and get the front half of the track and if you can see off to my right over here we've got a lane cut through there and it goes about a thousand 1500 feet in there we're gonna try to fix the deck back there because the track goes for another two thousand feet back in there and i it's just too far to pull it right now we don't have two tractor drivers we actually picked up another fella uh that lives up in this area but uh it's going good um the only drawback is a hundred miles from my house it's a two-hour ride every day and that's the killer everybody's tired before they get here in the mornings but uh we'll deal with it try to get it cut it try to get it cut and get it behind us but uh hopefully um if we could pick up a few more contract trucks we can get our production up um we're running about 75 78 loads a week the last few weeks and uh the only thing that's slowing us back is we don't have quite enough trucks it's hard to get trucks to come this far out where i live and i need trucks that's in the area or closer to south carolina and all the guys are busy right now so uh we'll keep looking and i'll keep you posted [Music] well with the first phase of the track done bobby and the crew move over to the second deck this area is on and off road from the main road here lately it's been pretty dry and the ground has been just like cornmeal as bobby's already mentioned this track is full of good wood but it's just so dag-blamed far from the house according to bobby the wood's coming out pretty good it's just a lack of truck drivers so with the change in daylight savings time is costing bobby about an hour of daylight that coupled with the fact he's 100 miles away from the job site and if you've ever been to this part of north carolina before there ain't nothing to see between jacksonville and here this morning is just like any other morning out here but little does anybody know that's about to change i've been asked a question that we loggers are making a lot of money now because the cost of lumber has gone up about 800 percent in the last six months unfortunately that's not the case uh reluctantly i mean uh sad to say the last adjustment i got on my paycheck was in 2005 and they cut me a dollar a ton so for the last 17 years i've been getting paid exactly the same thing and i ain't got to tell you how much everything's gone up i mean i heard it said that every two decades prices double every 20 years prices double and i think that's pretty accurate because i can remember in the not too distant past i could go to sam's and buy a six gal i usually i wrote i use rotella t in my tractors motorola i could buy a six gallon case for 29.99 and now if you go buy one gallon or tell t it's 15 just an example everything has has skyrocketed lumber prices has gone high but yet our prices remain the same no why that is why that's happened i really don't know i've heard different things about uh you know it just drastic rainfall we had a month ago well price has been up before that happened you know i'm not sure what where it lies i wish i could say we was getting some of it but we're not i think it's time that that we we do start getting some increases because uh it's i don't care what kind of business you are if you're if you haven't got an increase or cost of living raised or anything in 17 18 years uh something's wrong and uh to be honest with you there's 680 logging companies thereabout in north carolina in north carolina the lumber industry is a 33.6 billion dollar industry held up by 680 loggers and yet we hadn't got an increase in 18 years something something's not right with that picture um i'm hoping that the videos we're making here will get out someone that has got a brain because you know it's obvious we're the bottom of the totem pole but you gotta remember what holds at the top at the bottom if the bottom fails there is not going to be a 33.6 billion dollar industry in this country in north carolina because uh not one dime is made until the wood gets the trees get on a truck it gets to the mill that's when the process starts so um if you see the video share it give it to everybody you know of because our industry is in dire straits we're not getting increases even though the prices has gone up 800 percent and for lumber it sure ain't trickling down well today isn't just any old other day today bobby is getting rid of a piece of history but before we get to that here's some highlights of the morning [Music] oh oh now yeah [Music] is him bowling bowling logging and chipping bridgeway virginia i need to visit bobby and uh possibly trade him out of one of his loaders we're looking for that alligator to go with it i said uh so what are you looking at to this alligator so i'll go and look at him and uh it kind of starts getting started coming towards us then one of these and you could twist it and it had a sword on the inside that's what i need yeah right or no you need a 45. well and see that that's what happened there was that the end of their life and they had probably i don't know how long they would use them but uh the guy called me up and decided outside yeah you keep the same person on the same piece of equipment they know what's going on it's always a vibration and if y'all haven't figured it out by now bobby is getting rid of old nelly old nelly used to be days later on the show 45 yeah now for all you folks living up north and overseas this is how country folks negotiate it's 90 on other things and 10 percent on the transaction a whole lot of them do what we got to do forty thousand i think the track comes on the outside i can't afford that huh you need that one forty-five just put it it's putting under seven of me right here checking it let's do it 40. 44. 40. look you don't beat me down six thousand dollars sitting right here man's gonna be mad at me and i throw it in a truck truck a truck yeah i ain't nobody's truck a collection a collector's item 79 bike super liner west coast supply 43 right to check look he's going right get me right down to nothing listen i will haul to you and and i'll pay you to carry it to you you have it you'll bring it to it you'll bring it to me for that for 43. yeah yeah i'll bring it to you give me some directions all right we agreed on it it was 55 right i ain't got it oh my goodness what do we agree on i forgot 43. okay you're gonna bring them too bring it to you 43. okay you got that 43. that okay got on tight come on the business that's what she said look writing this big check to bobby right here for is your ancient loader man looking looking forward to getting to virginia hey guys i finally got old betsy sold so antonio's gonna get him a new loader hopefully tim bolton my good buddy here has beat me down to pier nothing i'm i'm proud to give him a load and i got a hauler tool and he lives 200 miles from here but it is sold so that's a good thing if you want to see more just hit that like and share button and uh stay tuned i remember my dad saying get up this morning [Music] the next 10 hours [Music] and times were bad [Music] daylight would fade and we'd always be glad to get back to our pillows and dream of where we'd go to find a better way [Music] a little brighter day just to find the best times was that between my dad worked the farm for 60 years before he died cut the camera
