guess what i just found this one is much cleaner this landcrafted 100 grass-fed beef i'm gonna get three of these we're heading back into dollar tree today and this time we're going to the snack section and i'm going to show you a get this not that run through so that way we can have an idea of well which option is better than the other and why especially if you're on keto and you're looking for some quick snacks there are some amazing things that we can get at dollar tree and i'm telling you people tend to throw it under the bus because it's dollar tree but a lot of times they get these products from the same distributors as they would at other stores so we can find equal quality products for a dollar that you might pay three dollars for at walmart five dollars for at target or who knows how much of a regular retailer so let's head on in and let's try not to get kicked out we'll make this quick we're gonna start in the drink aisle because we might find something that works really well when we're on keto now the nice thing is you could pop into dollar tree and you can get yourself something refreshing and not spend three dollars like you would at a regular convenience store so these sparkling ice drinks are quite interesting did you know that they have a little bit of well this one might not yeah this one's caffeine free usually they have a little bit of eg cg in there it depends which flavor you get now egcg stands for get ready for it epigallocatechin 3 galate and it is what is usually in green tea now the cool thing is these sparkling ice drinks depending on what flavor you get of course oftentimes has that in there which is a nice mild antioxidant something that if you are just looking for something between meals just to tide you over it might work out perfectly for you now i only see that they have this flavor let me point out why this one might not be the best this one's a little bit different because they add some vitamin a into it as an antioxidant versus the egcg i like the eg cg excuse me because there's a little bit of caffeine in it and that's kind of nice just a small amount but if we look at the actual ingredients in this we have carbonated water natural flavor is the second ingredient which scares me a little bit potassium benzoate vegetable juice for color apple juice concentrate lime juice concentrate super low see they're using sucralose i'm not a big fan of that green wait a minute there is green tea extract that's kind of funny so they're using green tea extracts but there's still no caffeine in it something doesn't really add up because if there's green tea extract there should be at least a small amount of caffeine unless they're using such a small amount of it that it's negligible in which case the antioxidant effect wouldn't really matter so a dollar for this just isn't that good of a bargain though because they're the same price at target they're the same price at most stores they're usually 99 cents is it acceptable yeah in a simple way it is kind of acceptable and it wouldn't be my first choice but it wouldn't be my last let's see what other stuff there might be what are these rockstar pure zeros i mean it's a good price to only pay a buck for this but what do we have in here we have carbonated water citric acid taurine sodium citrate oh interesting erythritol caffeine navic acid benzoic acid sucralose ah interesting so they use sucralose and erythritol the worst of both worlds now erythritol is not bad but why would you combine it with sucralose it's like if you're going to use erythritol use stevia don't use sucralose you could get it by with sucralose only why also add erythritol in there very important that i note that erythritol is not bad the issue that we run into is that it is something that you would typically use on a low carb protocol and yes it does settle into the lower intestine and cause a little bit of bloating a little bit of passive diffusion where water draws into the colon but i don't know that's just doesn't make sense to have erythritol and sucralose when you could have just one or the other and not have both going on anyway it doesn't really make a lot of sense there's still some other drinks here let's check them out i'd say one of the most common drinks that i see people getting from the dollar tree is going to be these rip it energy drinks sucralose potassium sorbet and acid sulfate potassium just words otherwise one of the things you want to look out for on a keto diet is acid sulfate potassium so acidosulfine potassium is one of the few sweeteners it also shows up as ace k a c e k on a label one of the only sweeteners that has been demonstrated in studies to trigger what is called a cephalic insulin response meaning when it hits your tongue it triggers the pancreas to produce insulin now it is a very inconclusive data point with that because different studies show different things but most of them that i've seen with acid sulfate potassium demonstrates there is that cephalic insulin response so what that tells us is if you're doing keto the moment that you have an insulin response your liver stops producing ketones so we take a little break from ketone production doesn't mean it kicks you out of keto no but it could potentially slow down the fat burning that's occurring there so i don't recommend acid sulfate potassium so far out of all of these the sparkling ice drinks would be acceptable not ideal but it's the dollar tree you're on a budget you got to get by with what you can the best thing to do would just be to have water uh here's something interesting what about these propel fitness waters what's going on here interesting drink electrolytes we have we run into the same thing now i wouldn't expect to see super healthy stevia you know truvia erythritol monk fruit kind of sweetened stuff here it's just not gonna happen because it's the dollar tree and everyone is pinching pennies even as far as the supply chain goes but unfortunately to be called a fitness water or electric water beverage and to not even really have good electrolytes like look at this it has salt 160 milligrams at only 40 milligrams of potassium that's zero percent of your daily value you're not getting anything out of that pantothenic acid which is vitamin b5 a little bit of that this is still worse i would almost still rather lean like you're going to get better benefit out of the ice drink than you are to this propel fitness water if you look carefully it's made by gatorade and if you look at this it's made by powerade so obviously fierce competitors so they're going to pay attention to that and they're going to make similar products just with different names it's almost the exact same product i found another one that looked promising for a minute until i flipped the label around it was this pct zero i liked it at least had tea in there and then we had some citric acid natural flavors a little further down but acid sulfur and potassium and super less the thing i do like about it is at least with the exception of those sweeteners at least this is pretty minimal ingredients there's not a lot of stuff in there there's no benzoids there's nothing it's just sweetener water tea so it's nice it's in the world of dirty sweeteners this one's not bad it's just a lot of acid salt and potassium which couldn't be the best thing but it's also not the worst at first i thought i found something cool okay so this premier protein ready to drink uh protein drink let's see what's in it it looked promising but unfortunately it's not the best okay water milk protein concentrate it's not whey protein it's just milk protein and it's not even isolate it's concentrated then we have oats soluble corn fiber which is rough on the gut so you're gonna get a lot of bloating with this sunflower oil natural artificial flavors cellulose gum and oh my god hexametaphosphate yeah lots of preservatives acid sulfam potassium not clean i'm sorry so i know it's a dollar but it's not even a good quality protein it's coming protein from oats and from milk protein not even whey protein so they haven't even concentrated the protein they're just taking the milk so i want to take a quick look at the refrigerated section and i found some more ice drinks i found ones that might have the egcg i was talking about let's see what's up here it doesn't look like this one has it either so we're in the same boat but i did find more of them at least different flavor if i wanted to diversify a little bit but then i found some ferrier which i am absolutely okay with having during a fast just to get yourself a little bit of something different it does have some natural flavors in there see what's in it carbonated water natural flavors what about this aloe stuff because aloe would be keto friendly but a lot of times they add sweeteners to it yeah they did they added sugar to this one so it's kind of funny one of those i'm funny about aloe aloe is what they call a hydrophilic colloid which means it draws water into the colon in a positive way and can help support like the gut mucosal layer so people will use it just to help out with their gut gut health and gut pain right what's interesting is if you have sugar in the mix there it denatures that completely it also triggers the production of what are called lipopolysaccharides which break down the coastal layer and trigger some inflammation at that cellular or epithelial wall the epithelial layer the small little cells that line the small intestine so if you're hurting those cells with sugar then you're doing yourself more you're going to do more damage with the sugar than you are healing process that comes from the aloe now granted it tastes good but try to get aloe that isn't sweetened with anything and it does have a tremendously beneficial effect in your gut just you can't really be having it with sugarinos are delicious but unfortunately they are not going to be keto friendly because they have sugar what about this is coconut water coconut water is usually too high of carbs young coconut water yeah they add sugar to it sure coconut pulp sugar yeah not gonna fly they don't have it at dollar tree but the bywaters b-a-i those are sweet with erythritol and they've done a really good job of bringing the coconut extract so that you're getting all the minerals and the electrolytes that you want from coconut water but without the sugar and without even the sugar from the coconut they've done a really good job of harnessing it so anyway recommend it so as far as the beverages are concerned i'm going to go ahead and i'm going to get myself a couple of these ice drinks and i'll add them to the cart for what is halfway decent before we get into a lot of the snacks here i do highly recommend that you check out thrive market down below in the description so thrive market is a place where you can get a lot of your keto snacks delivered to your doorstep and the reason that i say this is because if you're on a budget and you want to be able to get things that you would normally get at whole foods or more expensive health food stores you can probably save some decent money by going through thrive and be able to actually get some of those more esoteric items that you otherwise wouldn't be able to get so highly recommend i put a link down below i work with them a lot i use them all the time and they're a big supporter of this channel so first of all thank you thrive for all the support and all the help but secondly thank you for making my life easier when i travel a lot of times i'll even have a thrive box shipped to where i'm going so that if i know i'm going to somewhere a little bit more remote then maybe i could have some of my goodies shipped there and a lot of times they'll give you really good prices on the shipping too so highly highly recommend you check them out if you are in a pinch and you're trying to find good keto snacks or if you just live in an area where maybe dollar tree or walmart is all you have i've lived in places like that i used to live in a place called uvalde texas for a little while and we didn't have a whole lot we had walmart we had some dollar general so it would have been very difficult so anyhow highly recommend that you check them out special link down below this is what we're talking about we'll find some stuff here for sure ooh this is kind of nice what is this mackerel i know that's not like a snack that you might oh there's some cool stuff okay yes now i'm happy so if i was in a pinch and i was on the go and i needed something like really quick and i just needed to get some protein in i feel like this could be a decent selection of stuff for me there's some good protein options here in the canned food area now it's not going to be ideal but we're trying to do clean keto we're trying to do things right so what's this this wild caught season with lemon pepper 14 grams of protein with two grams of carbs light tuna not albacore in this case we want this one has a little bit of sugar with this flavoring no big deal black pepper citric acid lemon juice modified food and starch that's a little frustrating then at least it has a pea and carrot broth in it but i mean it's a buck and you're getting some good clean protein so that would be okay but what about just the one that doesn't have any flavoring in it just straight up protein well let's see here we have light tuna water vegetable broth i'm guessing the carbohydrates are coming from a little bit of the carrot but that's still not bad at all dolphin safe high protein wild caught it's just nice to see that for once i mean at least tuna is generally wild caught but at least it's sustainably caught too i'm happy to see this so the question is should you get it in the pouch or should you get it in the can i prefer getting it in the pouch because it's easier on the go and i tend to think that there's a little bit less in the way of some of the lining that could be in the can now a lot of companies have moved away from bpa lined cans where you don't get the bisphenol a and what is bpa the stuff that could have a toxic effect and you most cans have moved away from that but it's nice to see the pouches because super convenient it'll eat it in your car and not run into an issue of making a huge mess or needing a can opener i'm definitely in so i'm going to get one of those nice little snack might be able to mix it with maybe some almonds or something that we get from here just to add a little bit more fats to it fun fact on mackerel not that i expect you to just eat a can of mackerel but this is just a really cool find because mackerel is one of the highest fat fish that you can get as far as being a good fatty acid profile too so in this case we have mackerel water and salt that's it nothing to it okay now mackerel is one of the very rich omega-3s let's see if it's doesn't even list it it does not but it's very rich in omega-3s and it's one of the overall just fattiest fish that you can consume on ketos it's going to be very very very satiating also exceptionally high even more so than other types of omega-3s and other fishes in what is called dha which gets into the brain and when you're on keto one of the goals is to get as much in the way of free fatty acids or should i say ketones entering into the brain well what ends up happening with keto is because some of your inflammatory markers are down because some of the different signaling occurs as a result of the gene expression your blood brain barrier changes a little bit allowing more fats in so in this case we can allow more in the way of dha into the brain which not only has huge benefits when it comes to neurodegenerative diseases but it also has huge benefits when it comes down to just thinking clear i don't know about you but i stay keto because i like how it makes me feel mentally so mackerel is a big part of my life and i did not expect to see it here for a dollar because usually it's a more expensive fish like if you get it at trader joe's it's like 350 for a little you know flat can of it so i know i'm getting excited about canned fish which is weird but it's the dollar tree i'm trying to find just clean healthy snacks that will work start eating tomato sauce what's going on here sardines we've got tomato paste modified tapioca starch salt sugar xanthan gum okay so here's the deal with the sardines the fact that they are sitting in some tomato sauce there's going to be some carbs in there but the benefit still even if it's dollar tree is at least they're going to be palatable okay you could eat them out of the can they'd actually taste good but again look at the calories and the the overall fats you get two and a half servings so you'd end up with like 300-ish calories and you end up with a really good fat profile again very high omega-3s but there might be some other sardines that we can choose okay we have beechcliff the big thing to avoid is going to be the sardines in soybean oil talk about this all the time but soybean oil is massively overused and very very bad on keto so just avoid those but look at okay we got soybean oil and then we've got in water but again i get it okay you're on the go you just want a quick snack it's gonna be good on keto get the ones in mustard they're really good check out the ingredients okay we have sprats which is sardines water mustard flour acetic acid a little bit of corn starch but salt turmeric a little bit of xanthan gum uh extractive turmeric and an auto coloring so yes we have some weird stuff if you wanted to keep it as clean as you possibly could you'd go with the ones in water but i'm telling you if you're going to eat them on the road get in the mustard it just tastes a little bit better i love that it's got acetic acid in it let me tell you something about that i'm not just trying to be weird and picking apart every single ingredient to give you a yay or an a on something but acetic acid is the active ingredient that you're going to get out of apple cider vinegar too now what acetic acid does is it drives up what is called ampk when acetic acid enters into a cell it converts or starts the process of converting into acetyl coenzyme a so what happens is that conversion into acetyl coenzyme a costs energy and ultimately puts your puts you into a deeper ketogenic state because the cell recognizes that you are in a deficit because what happens is because of the acetic acid going into the cell the cell registers a net loss of calories even though you're consuming calories for a minute so it says sees this and it says uh-oh we need to drive up fat mobilization because this person's deeper in ketosis or whatever it's a complicated answer but the point is seeing some acetic acid in there is a good thing and it can help drive up or drive down your glucose intolerance and make it so that you get more out of it enough about sardines let's go find some other coaster cocktail i don't know about a cocktail though hand packed in oil that's the bummer all right let's see get veggie it's going to be soybean yep cottonseed i don't want cottonseed oil so usually what i'll do is if i get oysters which are my favorite canned fish i will get ones that are either in water or in olive oil crown prince has some that are in olive oil oysters are one of the richest if not the richest source of zinc that you could possibly get what does zinc do zinc is very good for the thyroid and what it does is it helps restore the thyroid so once your t3 levels go up and then go down what ends up happening is it sends a signal and the zinc is going to allow the cell to send a better signal to the brain to indicate that it needs to produce more t3 so zinc is good for the receptor so if you're concerned about your thyroid you're trying to keep your metabolism up zinc is a very very good solution for that you could take it in a zinc supplement but what happens is what happens but what happens with that is zinc will counterbalance other ones like copper right zinc needs copper to balance so if you eat it in a full spectrum form like a food then you're in a lot better shape because you're getting the full spectrum of minerals that you need so zinc is not just unopposed now you could get those smoked oysters and you could just wash them and wash the soybean oil off but then it makes you wonder like where were they sourced is it really high quality but again if you're in a pinch not a bad thing to eat hey this is cool to see i don't know if they're full of keto but it's pretty clean and not a bad price a dollar for these uh harvest snaps [Applause] they're not perfect they're definitely not keto but green peas canola oil rice salt it could be worse and it's a start okay i just thought that at least point those out that if you're not doing keto it's not a terrible terrible snack it's just which they use slightly better oils anything weird in this non-gmo that's nice okay so at least we're using non-gmo soybeans oh yes we found a nice little keto snack those of you that are super nerds on my channel would probably avoid this but here's the deal we have to remember that we are on an extreme budget this might not be forever this might be just temporary this is a crazy time that we're all living in right now and we're all waiting to see when the other shoe is going to drop i don't know about you but i'm trying to save money when i can and where i can if that means that occasionally i have a snack of edamame that's from a non-gmo source let's see golden beach torrance california it's not coming overseas in some weird area that i don't know look at the ingredient profile i don't like the add soybean oil that's a bummer okay but it's probably a negligible amount soybeans and then we have eight grams of carbs six grams of fiber so let it be known that it is not ideal but if you're looking for a quick keto snack that is high in fiber you just want that crunch there are better options but this one would suffice if you are vegan or if you're vegetarian i think a little bit of this might be beneficial for you and at least it's non-gmo and it's only a buck because i know the other version i can't remember what brand it is they have at costco and with other brand ladies that they have like smart and final it's like seven or eight bucks for one that's not much bigger than that so that's a really good bargain well sound the alarm i just found something pretty cool check this old-time fat back skins like mama's pan fried all right what do we have so it's like a pork rind except a straight up fat back um i don't see the ingredients where's the ingredients here well it's a little bit disconcerting oh it says right on the front pork skins and salt that's all we have to it pork skins and salt nothing else in there this is going to be a higher fat version see look four and a half grams of fat for a half ounce serving compared to let's just say regular pork rinds that are like puffier right [Applause] see that's a bad example because that one actually it's about the same okay so that's interesting so half an ounce four and a half grams of fat so i guess the only difference is where they're getting the cup from this should be higher fat it's a little bit odd normally you'll see fat back or children's like that being a little bit higher fat because there's more fat on it you can literally see the fat like a chunk of fat so it doesn't really add up all the way but it's really nice and clean i like to see that the way that pork skins are made they're fried at a very high temperature and you want them usually fried in their own fat so you never want to get a pork rind that's been fried in an additional fat for example what good is an animal fat that is saturated that is pretty stable and when i say stable meaning it can handle being cooked to high heat what good is that if it's cooked in vegetable oil so you always want to find a pork rind that's rendered in its own animal fat so when i see pork skins that are also just that's all the ingredient is pork skins and salt that's a very good sign for me the bigger concern that i have with most pork rinds is i usually want a fattier cut the saturated fat in pork is stable the rest of the pork fat is going to be mono and polyunsaturated fats which are not designed to be heated at very high temperatures now pork rinds have a high monounsaturated fat content which is great if you're cooking at relatively low temperature because they don't break down but when they're fried at very high temperature those poly and monounsaturated fats will denature so the general rule of thumb with pork rinds is to get them as clean as possible first of all know where the pork is coming from second of all if you can so the first ingredient is usually pork and if you go up market outside of dollar tree you'll find ones like epic and you'll find things like that and that's going to be better but in this case we probably want to go for whichever ones a have the least amount of garbage added to them but also ones that are going to have a thick ribbon of saturated fat because they're going to be a little bit more stable so with this one only having pork skins and salt that's a pretty good find but what about these other pork rinds this one chill this pork rinds and salt so this is really just up to you i just think when i look at the ingredients and being the same i'm going to go visibly on this one i see more saturated fat so i think i'm going to go with that because it's probably going to be less denatured through the frying process general rule of thumb with roasted nuts or anything is you want them dry roasted whenever you can because the same kind of thing we don't want them roasted in a cruddy vegetable oil that's going to mix you know mess things up and mess up the fatty acid profile almonds are okay as long as they're dry roasted we just don't want to overdo it if we had the option oh i found some pecans natural pecan halves doesn't mean they're organic they're probably not but that's kind of nice just to find these now pecans if you've ever noticed like the skin is really soft and you know how when you chew a pecan you can feel they're kind of mushy and kind of soft they're easier to masticate i said masticate okay not the other word they're easier to mash up in your mouth like that and that means they're mechanically easier to digest too so they pass through you absorb the fats a little bit more they're also pretty high in the good omega-3s that we want however it's a little bit negligible because the omega-6 content is so high point being it's cool that i found these i'm going to get pecans because these are usually a pretty expensive nut 1.25 ounces check out the carb content here we have four grams of carbs three grams of fiber so only one gram of net carb 22 grams of fat have this along with some of your tuna and you're good to go so that sucker's going in the cart now let me show you a little bit of what's going on with the almonds while we have to be careful in almonds and vegetable oil canola and or safflower oil we don't really want that we want dry roasted so do i see any dry roasted i don't on this end cap what about these hickory smoked yeah same kind these also add malted extreme too well what about pistachio so i see anything oh yeah pistachios and sea salt i think this made my other dollar tree video this is a really good find pistachios are higher carb nut but pretty negligible too for this pack we have six grams of carbs two of which is fibers four grams in that carb i do like pistachios because i like the the mineral profile they're just higher carb which poses a little bit of a problem uh cashews i would avoid especially when we have pecan options and we have nicer pistachio options and we're going to see if we can find some other almonds and stuff i know this question is going to come up about peanuts i would prefer you don't have peanuts because they're not the most keto friendly okay look at this we have five grams of carbs we have three grams of net carbs so a little higher carb but they're also very high omega-6 and they can make you feel a little bit sluggish if you've ever had peanuts when you're on keto you notice oh i feel kind of bogged down even a little bit with almonds too the thicker the skin like on an almond usually is an indicator of how much phytic acid is in there and phytic acid makes it very difficult to absorb a lot of the minerals that are coming from the nuts or from the other foods that you eat so for example if you ate a bunch of almonds along with a delicious nutritious meal those almonds themselves would chelate or bind to some of the minerals from that food and they would make a positively charged situation literally positively charged so that the minerals cannot pass through the small intestinal wall that's why chelated or chelation foods like things that are oxalates or phytates can be dangerous on keto to consume a lot of them so i usually recommend rotating the nuts that you get pecans are a little bit low phytic acid which is great i've talked about these in other videos this energy blend is nice because it has some has almonds pecans walnuts honey roasted peanuts the problem is the honey roasted stuff all spreads to the other foods the other nuts so then you have to pick it apart and you end up with much sugar ultimately but what about this smart choice blend is this one decent unsalted peanuts dried cranberries unsalted cashews almonds and walnuts if you worked around the peanuts and you worked around the cashews a little bit you left the almonds walnuts he'd be okay but i think we could find something a little bit better see yes and i found it this power blend salted walnuts which are the richest omega-3 nut that you could find granted they are high in omega-6s so it doesn't necessarily equate salted shell pistachios salted peanuts which we can get out of there if we wanted to salted filberts which are hazelnuts and salted almonds this is a really good blend so just pick the peanuts out or just have them in moderation this nutrient profile we have five grams of carbs three grams of fiber so two grams of net carbs ah they are roasted in vegetable oil i hate this peanuts almonds pistachios fillers walnuts roasted and vegetable oil that is such a bummer but just because it has hazelnuts which are usually really expensive i'm going to get them you just have to pick your battles right you're going to have these things that come in some time to time and you're just going to have to deal with them uh you're getting so much in the way of the polyunsaturated fats from the vegetable oils all the time anyway it's i don't know just again to pick like what foods do i want to accept some vegetable oils in if you're going to go super super clean all the way and not have them you probably can't really shop at dollar tree you're going to have some vegetable oils that come in it's just a matter of getting enough omega-3s to counterbalance them now i'm really glad that i just walked down this aisle a little bit more because i just found they did have some whole almonds and i think these are raw raw whole almonds yay so some of them aren't roasted in vegetable oil this is great the only problem if they're not roasted is it doesn't break down the phytic acid as well but it's still a good find to find natural almonds for a dollar two ounces too this is going to be two servings so two servings per container 170 calories you definitely don't want to eat the whole bag eat one serving at a time it should last you you should have no more than one ounce of almonds per day if you are eating these other vegetable oils too oh wait what about jerkys here yeah glad i took another spin let's see what we have here so what you want to look for in budget stores with this kind of thing is you want to find ones that do not have soy in them ones that do not have soy sauce okay because it's got the wheat in it which is going to hurt a lot of the impact of the ketogenic diet as far as gut biome goes so if we look at like slim jim um let's see wow i can barely even see these ingredients here long story short it actually has like soy flour in it um look at this original beef jerky here this one and we have beef water brown sugar hydrolyzed soy protein dextro soy sauce water salt hydrolyzed soy protein corn syrup caramel color oh there's a lot of garbage in that let's try alberto here regular beef jerky we have beef brown sugar water vinegar yeast extract which is basically msg but there's no soy sauce that's a plus but how are we doing five grams of carbs five grams of sugar in one package it would work in a pinch i don't like this uh that yeast extract is basically msg though so pre-prepared to feel very weird after having this then there's this one from butterball this is kind of interesting ooh this is cool oh this is turkey jerky ah i get it okay what do we have in here turkey brown sugar water natural flavors soy soy sauce okay it's gluten-free soy sauce if i had to choose between beef and turkey here i'd go with beef because the turkey i know is gonna have a ton of antibiotics in it because that's the way turkey is here's a perfect example of the jack links one see look at we have beef water sugar brown sugar contains super sinner less okay soy sauce wheat soybeans hydrolyzed corn protein these textures this one's a nightmare definitely don't want that one so out of all of these the turkey jerky seems the best except the turkey itself is a problem and then we have the original beef jerky oh sorry the trails west or trail's best excuse me still has some soy protein but i know from the soy sauce in there it doesn't say there's wheat in there so it's gluten-free soy sauce but it has a lot more preservatives so we can't really win i guess if i had to i'd go with the turkey jerky remember the biggest ingredient to look at is the first ingredient so the first ingredient in jerky is generally going to be the meat so before you look at all the other stuff in there all the other stuff that could be bad we have to first look at that first ingredient and what is the quality of that so turkey versus beef turkey's going to be slightly better i mean excuse me beef is going to be slightly better so that means that that is going to weigh the most in our scale okay however the other things that were along with that beef added up if there had been one bad thing like maybe some yeast extract or one bad thing maybe some vegetable oil i could have overlooked it but it was death by a thousand cuts with the beef one so in that case two three four other ingredients secondary ingredients far overlap or should i say supersede the first ingredient being bad so in that case that's why i would have chosen the turkey one even though it's not perfect but a quick source of protein if you were on the go but again the tuna works just as well guess what i just found while i'm in the checkout line seriously check this out this one is much cleaner this
