this morning we need a word from you we need a touch from you lord we need to hear from you because if we don't hear from you then what will we do heavenly father we are asking you lord that you will bless the service o god from the beginning unto the end lord i pray that you will bless me so i can be a blessing i pray god that you will bless the choir i pray god that you will bless the musician lord the one that will bring forth your word let it be a word in time let it be a word in season let it be a word lord to lift us higher and to take us to the next level heavenly father we are dependent on you the god that know all our weakness the god that knows all our cares lord the one that sees our ups and our downs our ends and our out our inadequacy father god we come before your throne of grace and asking you for mercy asking you to wash us asking you to cleanse us and lord like you told moses to tell the children of israel to go forward may we continue lord because it's forward still it's geovia's will though the billers may dash and sway but father god like a conquering train help us this morning to push ahead so we can roll the sea away sea of sickness sea of doubt and fear sea of disappointment and sorrow oh god sea of trouble on every side father god in the name of jesus christ the service of earth the people are yours father god i pray that you will give them receptive hearts i pray god that worship will be easy i pray god that we are not here as spectators father god but we will give you what is rightfully yours lord you said when the praises go up then the blessing come down heavenly father god have your way right in this morning with your quicken and power lord and do a new thing oh god take us higher in you heavenly father fill us up until we overflow lord god the shepherd of this house lord you know where he is but lord wherever he is lord i pray that your grace and your mercy will be with him we pray god that you will strengthen him and his family keep him lord in your care lord let his mind be upon thee heavenly father a double portion fresh anointing oh god because the anointing of yesterday lord is not sufficient to handle the troubles and trial of today father bless us and keep us lead us and guide us a father god we are looking unto you because we have no might and we have no power for our own so our eyes are exclusively upon you heavenly father take full control have thy divine sweet way and we give you thanks remember those that are on their way cover them under your blood grant them journeys mercy back back and cramp and paralyze every plan of the enemy by an accident and incident we humble wait upon you and we say thanks in the name of the father thanks in the name of the son and thanks in the blessed name before us that someone could have been you that someone could have been me but the grace of god so this morning i encourage you to worship the king of kings and the lord of lord tomorrow is not yours seventh spirit of god and the seven stars i know thy works that thou has a name that thou liveth and are dead he said be watchful and strengthen the things which remain that are ready to die for i have not found thy work perfect before god remember therefore how thou hast receive and heard and all fast and repent if therefore thou shalt not watch i will come on thee as a thief and thou shalt not know what hour i will come upon thee thou ask a few names even inside us which have not defiled their garment and they shall walk with me in white for they are worthy he that overcome it the same shall be clothed in white raymond and i will not blot out his name out of the book of life but i will confess his name before my father and before his angel he that at and here let him hear what the master's business praise god just keep him in prayer as you know he loves the lord and he loves god's people i have a few announcements this morning from the desk of our bishop just want to remind us that beginning this friday or fasting service begins from 7 p.m to 12 midnight and it begins on friday the 24th and it goes all the way through to october 2 when oct we start our all-night prayer meeting from 7 p.m through to 6 00 a.m saturday morning that's october so please mark your calendars there are some prayer points that are available with and the dates are there so after service i'll be having some so you can get ladies if you have not yet gotten your responsibility ladies of the ministries you can pick up one after church all right uh we have some church cards and evangelism cards that's a that's available you can pick up these are what we call our conversation starters for you who are truly disciples a disciple of christ replicate right yes we reproduce and so we have designed we have we have these cards it has the information on the church but it's for evangelism purpose not just to give your neighbor who is saved already but your neighbor who's not saved so you can start up a conversation with them and they have information about the church this is a regular church card it has everything about the church on it well except our pastor's name i saw but contact number and all of that is on there so you can collect some of these we have also our for my church envelope if you have not gotten any as yet got one please you can collect one from me we also have our convention envelope you can also collect one of that from me amen praise god we have with us this morning brother ray many of you have met sister ray she has been our youtube or youtube audience together for them how many of you see how the whole just it just looks so fantastic out there it looks so different thanks to the men's department for their financial assistance in acquiring the tile and also thank brother linville wright for assisting with the cleaning up of the land and the church man's praise god we also want to thank chaplain missionary silver smith and the pantry team and brother gotcha for volunteering their efforts each friday you know it's good to give thanks for people yes people is our greatest resources yes so we want to give we want to give god thanks so we want to give god thanks for those who are coming out on a saturday morning for our prayer meetings each saturday morning also thank deaconess beeson and the team for assisting in the arrangement of the the for replacing the bookshelf in the in the foyer here in the lobby area to the back and for just working on the pantry each thursday just to restock the pantry and their commitment for cleaning and lord i need your help god you take the stage please and just have your way when i'm done god i pray that you really would have been glorified and that your people would have been edified challenged and strengthened to just serve you that all of us god will just be challenged to even get deeper to seek you more and to come to you father have your way have your way today lord i give you the praise i give you the glory and i give you the honor breathe upon me again holy spirit holy spirit manifest your presence manifest your power god i can do nothing without you here is a waiting audience god with hearts open those hearts that are closed i pray holy ghost that you break in every stubborn heart and give us receptive heart today god may your word settle in us and settle on us god that your name will be exalted father we look to you and we tell you thanks in jesus name hallelujah thank you jesus you may be seated the scripture was already read and the interesting thing about it is i shared this word on wednesday and i was not prepared to share it this morning however was yesterday the lord chose to allow me to share this word this morning to the general congregation and he has a reason why he repeats something he knows why sometimes we as a people we get tired of hearing the same thing sometimes when my daughter comes home and she's going over the same thing day after day at our work i kind of get tired but i indulge her because she needs to off-load but god is not wanting our indulgence just because he wants to offload he wants our attention in this season and if what we have seen around the world has not grabbed the attention of the church as yet i don't know what else but i tell you there are other things that are gonna come and so i'm encouraging us as the body of believer just to hold fast to our profession don't allow familiarity don't allow ourselves to underlook or overlook or trivialize what god is doing in this season are don't allow familiarity to get into our souls in this season and so i want us to just turn our bibles to revelations revelation chapter 3 praise god hallelujah and here we find the book of revelation i'm just going to ask you to flip over back to revelation chapter 1. and in many of the bibles and certainly in my bible it says my bible it says the revelation of jesus christ in other words that which we're about to receive was given to the church by jesus himself he's the source of the unveiling and the word revelation just simply means to unveil to reveal and that is what jesus christ the son of the living god was doing in this book the letter was written to the last remaining apostle he was the only one that was left alive everyone else was martyred they were killed many other the disciples were dead now here it is john found himself imprisoned for the sake of the gospel and we find that in verse 4 but before we look at verse 4 john says this in verse 3 blessed is he that hear it and they that hear the word of this prophecy and keep those things which are written therein for the time is at hand and i want to submit to you that the word of god has potency through every generation the word of god is powerful in every single generation some people who do not understand how powerful the word of god is what they'll say is they've heard these things and these are just stories and we have heard it from my eye or eyes are at our knees but i want to tell the world today that the word of god still has value for today and so here it is that the lord gave john a revelation and the letter was written to seven churches seven churches of the time and many scholars many preachers many evangelists those who stand to proclaim the word they will tell you that this word is relevant to every church age and while it was written to seven specific churches in seven locations in asia what we call modern day turkey today we can look in the book and we can look at ourselves as an individual and as a body of believer and ask ourselves what kind of church are we what kind of church am i we can ask ourselves that when we read through the book of revelations and so it is here the blessedness is pronounced so we see the source of the revelation and the blessedness for those who read it we see the salutation greeting john and it goes to the seven churches of asia and john said grace and peace a common greeting of the of the day grace and peace unto you from him which is which was and is to come from the seven spirits which are before his throne from jesus christ who is the faithful witness and the first begotten of the dead and the prince of the kings of the earth and he gave him a praise unto him that loved us and washed us from our sins in his own blood this is who the letter came from so we are reading and we are we are clear in in our understanding as the source of the letter jesus himself and he was talking to his people then paul then john talked about how him being translated in a vision and begin to get revelation and he said so he moved now into the realm of revelation so he was on the isle of physical place but god took him into a realm of the spirit where he began to open up some mysteries unto him he began to show him some deep things and then he says i am the alpha and omega the first and the last identified himself again and then instructing john to say what you see john write in a book and send it this is the destination of where these things are going to go down so there was no ambiguity there was no uncertainty there wasn't any there wouldn't be any mistake as to where this letter this letter wasn't being sent to the government it wasn't being sent to the politicians it wasn't being sent to the business sector not the school or the educational sector it was being sent to the church so there's no myth in where the letter was to be sent but then more specifically jesus continued by saying the seven churches that are in asia these were the major churches these were like the headquarter churches so it was being these letters these seven letters were to be sent to these major churches that had major influence on the rest of the society or the smaller churches around and so he said unto ephesus smyrna pergamos tayatera onto sardis and on to philadelphia and onto laodicea so he told them so the letters now then he pointed out that they're to go to the angels of the church i'm just giving you a little background they're to go to the angels of the church and the angel that word angel just simply means that we would have it today the pastor or the leader the overseer the person who gives oversight over a body of believer these letters were to be given and so he gave the letters in this order to ephesus to smyrna to pergamos to tayathira and then he came on to the church of sardis the church and this is what the letter says and on to the angel or the messenger or the pastor of the church inside is the leader and i want to submit to you though it says messenger one other thing i want to submit to us this morning is each and every one of us here under the hearing of my voice you are the leader of your life the word of god says is the old testament showed us god having a select people who we call priests who led the congregation and knew the mind of god but then we come into into peter's first peter peter says what we are a royal priesthood so not only are we children of god we are kings and we are priests in other words we are leaders we are to govern our life and we are to minister to ourselves and though the pastor has a responsibility the bible tells us in ephesians chapter 4 to equip the sins for the working of ministry the believer every single believer has a responsibility for him or herself every believer has a responsibility to govern their own life because it doesn't matter how hard the pastor preaches or the minister teaches this morning i hear minister minister hall ministering teaching breaking down the word but as much as he prepared himself overnight and spent time fasting and praying getting all of the research done if you don't take it and apply it to your life his efforts are in vain he can open our heads and throw it down he can't turn our hearts we have to choose to respond to his work and his efforts and so many of us as believers we have left the work of governing our lives to the pastor many of us have left the work of ensuring that we are walking right before god to the pastors to the ministers to the church leaders we are going to be in for a rude awakening because if the pastor has done his job if the leaders have done their job and you don't grasp it then the blood is not on the leaders so here he sends a letter to the church in ephesus and he says these things say it unto them that had the seven spirits say it the sa he sorry these things said he that had the seven spirits of god and the seven stars i know your works i know your works that thou has a name that you live and you are dead praise the name of jesus you are dead jesus here began by identifying himself to the church at sardis and after identifying himself he points out that he's the one who has the seven spirits of god and we see here in isaiah 11 it speaks to the spirit the seventh spirit and isaiah pointed out that he said the spirit of the lord he has the spirit of the lord the spirit of wisdom and understanding the spirit of counsel and might the spirit of knowledge and of the fear of the lord not only was he the one who possessed the seventh spirit but he was also the possessor of the seven leaders are the seven angels of the church the seven stars and i want to just show you that here where you see it says the seven stars if you turn over praise god to revelation chapter 1 and the verse 16 he and he ha and he had in his right hand seven stars and out of his mouth went a sharp two-edged sword and his countenance was as the star as the sun shine it in his strength and it comes out he goes on down at verse 20 he says the mystery of the seven stars which thou saws in my right hand and the seven candlesticks the seven stars are the angels or the messengers of the seven churches and the seven candlesticks which those are soyuz are the seven churches so we know the seven stars that he's speaking here are also the angels the messengers or the leaders of the church so he wrote this letter to the leadership and he says this is the characteristic of this church he's saying this is it i know your work you're full of works you can do stuff yes everybody see what you're doing you're full of it you have a name among the the community everybody see what you're doing everybody know your name you have a reputation your reputation goes before you he says i know how you have a reputation that you live you look alive but in fact you are dead and if i want to use for a theme this morning because my my verse that i want to just talk to you about is are you among the few are you among the few the lord spoke about the few in verse four and so the lord says i know your works the omnipotent one the one who knows all things about us all things about creation said to this church i know your works all that you did from the insignificant to the very significant from the heavy-duty work to the very mundane work jesus knew it all and today he knows everything about us he knows our heart he knows our intention he knows our motive he knows why we do what we do if what we do is for his glory or for the glory of men not only that jesus knows but menu and men saw and consequently because men saw the church was reputable among the people in their community but what we don't understand is this what god sees is different from what men see what men knows is different from what god knows and this is where the rubber hit the road because the truth is this many of us are living before men to please men many of us are trying to to get the favor of men but what god sees and what man see is two different things god has perfect knowledge complete knowledge nothing passes him by him actions are weird that's the word of god he knows the heart and the intent of the heart he knows our motive and why we do what we do how we do it there are some people that sit around and lag and as they see somebody coming i see it with my children sometimes you give them things to do and when and they lay down and do whatever as soon as they say come they're scuffling like they're moving about and that's how many of us are as believers but god is keeping a record of our actions god is keeping a record of what we are doing is our motive pure what's the condition of our hearts first samuels 2 3 by him actions are weird what christ saw and knew about his church was different it was in it was in conflict this church was too faced it was hypocritical by nature it appeared alive but spiritual their spiritual reality is that they were dead they were living dead they were like zombies doing things but no no real life was exuding from them no real life was coming from them death has various realities our concept one death means to be the absence of life james 2 verse 26. death means separation if you can recall in genesis 2 7 the lord said to the the man in the day you eat from this fruit tree you shall surely die but did he die immediately no but immediately he was separated from the presence of the lord and that's what death is also about we only view death sometimes as the absence of the spirit from the body but many of many people are walking around as living dead because they're separated from christ and that's the reason why we as a church we're calling this society to restore men to god to let men know they can come out a deadness and come into life praise god this also means inactivity or barrenness and we still we go and somebody might say that's contradicting with the verse that i'm going to use and that's revelations 3 because though the church was busy very active they were very inactive because they weren't doing what god called them to do they were doing their own thing so death means inactivity or barrenness death means worthless faith worthless faith faith without works is what dead hebrews 6 1 james 7 sorry james 2 verse 17 and death is also sinfulness or a state of sinfulness and we find that in romans because they talk about the wages of sin is death we are all dead in our trespasses and sin so this church was not just barren but though they were actively doing the things maybe doing some social work maybe doing all sort of community activity very busy doing things but the question was were they doing the will of the lord so they appeared to be working but they are they were they lacked power they lacked force and they lacked the holy spirit operation in their lives you know when i was reading this one of the thing that i i i saw when i shared it on wednesday sometimes in our revelation of god the church locked it no one wants us to understand the seven spirits of god just simply talking about the holy spirit it's just simply talking about the holy spirit so whenever the lord addressed any of these churches he addressed them according to the issue in the church by identifying himself as the solution so he said write unto them i am the disorder that person so he wanted this church to know that the seven the the one that had the seventh spirit and the one that owned the shepherd because he's the good shepherd he's in charge of the leadership and he gives the church the spirit to operate i am the one that's coming to address your issue because you're lacking the spirit and you're lacking the word the leaders were not given the word they lived in a society if sardis was a society that was also a rich society the scent of many trees rich in jewelry and textile they had it is said that they had a river that run through that goal was found and they said that christ how the holy spirit enables us to become fruit bearers the fruit of the spirit galatians 5 22-23 but he also calls us to abide so we are bearing fruits of righteousness and even those that we go out and win soul winners are fruit bearers that's the holy spirit we are called the temple of the living god first corinthians 3 16 hence we should allow him to have free course to us the holy spirit is what we need because what the church lacks is in the holy spirit the bible tells us that he is the source of wisdom revelation and what power many of us we are we are enthralled by the power how we steal when we're coming before god we spend so much time trying to find nice things to wear and that's lovely nothing is wrong with that we must look good as christians but not to the neglect go out every sunday but we have a major one that we do out in further soils we go out and we distribute care package now for this one we recognize it's not just care package that's gonna be needed we're gonna have to possibly take meals down there to give them and so we want to just engage the congregation congregation if you cannot make it out please support it so we'll be having for those who today for now if you want to give towards the mission you can put that missions offering right here to go towards it we're still collecting care packages hand sanitizers toothpaste tooth brushes just about everything that you you need to care for yourself for your hygiene and also snack items juices sausage tunas the pack tuna snack packages and so forth so just take them in we're also needing clothes we're going to be needing shoes and pants and shirts good condition excellent condition things that you would wear yourself all right because these people are out there on the streets and they need things and so we are here as the church the bible said we should take care of the poor the widow the orphan and the immigrants as a church that's what we're about and in the process of doing so we spread the gospel because that's what we are out there giving so those of you if you are interested in finding out a little more i i have a list that i'll be giving out so i'll be printing and putting out for you to have so you can see some of the things that we need one of the reason praise god praise the lord amen one of the reason why we ask for the funds is that the church is a tax exempt organization and so when we get the funds from you instead of you having to purchase and i know purchasing it on your own you want to be involved in the packing but i don't recommend that for the fact that we are tax-exempt organization the taxes that you would pay with you would be charged we can use it to purchase things what you can do if you want to be involved in the package is come when we're packing and you can be involved in the packing and that's just wisdom if you can pay for something for ten dollars instead of eleven dollars you can use that dollar to buy something else right okay so i well it was pointed out that people have other means of purchasing so if you have other means of purchasing fine but if it's you're going to take your cash money you know and you want to see it back and we can acquire more even so even you know we can acquire more when we don't pay the taxes then you know let's get involved and do it like that we're asking you also if you can't go out let's come and help to pack the stuff i'm here on saturdays where pastor and i were here during the week so i'm here most saturdays from i'm available from after nine i'm here in the morning so if you're interested come on we don't want to wait until the saturday before then we are packing what we want to do is pack as we get pack as we get and don't wait until the last minute brother let's break the stigma that jamaicans are always late and start going out and gather in and let us start the packing early so we can move on this is the king business stand to your feet please and the bible tells us that the king's business requires haste no is not the time for us to be slacking up now is the time for us to be fast enough of a bootstrap and get going and doing the things that god call us
