of the son and of the holy spirit amen peace be with you and with your spirit let us recognize the presence of god let us thank god for the blessings received let us look forward for the healing of our land not only from sickness but even more from sin [Music] is [Music] [Applause] [Music] grieve us [Music] may almighty god have mercy on us forgive us our sins and lead us to life everlasting the prophet jeremiah thus says the lord cursed is the one who trusts in human beings who seeks his strength in flesh whose heart turns away from the lord he is like a barren bush in the desert that enjoys no change of season but stands in a love a waste a salt an empty earth blessed is the one who trusts in the lord whose hope is the lord he is like a tree planted beside the waters that stretches out its roots to the stream it fears not the heat when it comes its leaves stay green in the year of drought it shows no distress but still bears fruit the word of the lord thanks be to god blessed their day who hope in the lord blessed are they who hope in the lord blessed the man who follows not the counsel of the wicked nor walks in the way of sinners nor sits in the company of the insolent but delights in the law of the lord and meditates on his law day and night blessed are they who hope in the lord he is like a tree planted near running water that yields its fruit in jew season and whose leaves never fade whatever he does prospers blessed are they who hope in the lord not so the wicked not so they are like shaft which the wind drives away for the lord watches over the way of the just but the way of the wicked vanishes blessed are they who hope in the lord a reading from the first letter of saint paul to the corinthians brothers and sisters if christ is preached and raised from the dead how can some among you say there is no resurrection of the dead if the dead are not raised neither has christ been raised and if christ has not been raised your faith is vain you are still in your sins then those who have fallen asleep in christ have perished if for this life only we have hoped in christ we are the most pitiable people of all but now christ has been raised from the dead the first fruits of those who have fallen asleep the word of the lord thanks be to god [Music] [Music] rejoice and be glad your reward will be great in heaven [Music] [Music] the lord be with you and with your spirit a reading from the holy gospel according to luke glory to you o lord jesus came down with the twelve and stood on a stretch of level ground with a great crowd of his disciples and a large number of the people from all judea and jerusalem and the coastal region of tyre and sidon and raising his eyes toward his disciples he said blessed are you who are poor for the kingdom of god is yours blessed are you who are now hungry for you will be satisfied blessed are you who are now weeping for you will laugh blessed are you when people hate you and when they exclude you and insult you and denounce your name as evil and account of the son of man rejoice and live for joy on that day behold your reward will be great in heaven for their ancestors treated the prophets in the same way but vote to you who are rich for you have received your consolation go to you who are filled now for you will be hungry woe to you who laugh now for you will grieve and weep woe to you when all speak well of you further ancestors treated the false prophets in this way the gospel of the lord praise to you lord jesus christ there was a time when we used to foresee the success or defeat of some people in terms of their iq iq was successful [Music] [Music] hindi lang practical intelligence merending aesthetic intelligence artistic intelligence drama [Music] intelligence ibang intelligence intelligence let us look at another intelligence not just philosophical mathematical or literary not just practical or aesthetic intelligence moral intelligence [Music] whether everybody sees you or you are hidden mathematical intelligence philosophical intelligence or aesthetic intelligence of practical intelligence [Music] [Music] my dear brothers and sisters the reality is [Music] we learn best and we teach character we grow in character we grow deeply in character by trials by difficulties by crisis many people learn life's important lessons in jail many people learn their life's important lessons in the hospital while sick many people learned the important lessons in life when they were defeated when they were sued when they were maligned where they were coloniated when they were gossiped about unfairly and yet they became better persons because of these [Music] hindi tama atinibaganda buhaymon repeatedly [Music] foreign is when you put god into your poverty you are blessed when you put god as you weep you are blessed when you put god as they exclude you you are blessed when you put god as they insult you you are blessed when you put god as they denounce you you are blessed when you put god when they speak all kinds of evil against you you are blessed the important word the important connection my dear brothers and sisters is god and when you put everything attached to god your character deepens integrity deepens and your moral intelligence increases foreign the lord is lacking in this country that is our poverty is not a blessing that is why the insults are not blessing us that is why the problems are not blessing us that is what that is why our tears have not become our blessings because we have abandoned the lord the gospel blesses those who are poor who are hungry who are weeping who are insulted or excluded who are cursed on the hound of the son of man on account of the son of man [Music] attitude it is only on account of the son of man on account of god that our poverty our weeping our hunger our thirst our exclusion becomes our blessing and it builds character nothing let us build our moral intelligence and build our moral intelligence by growing deeply in courage in generosity when we are tried face the trial when we are tested face the testing when we are examined face the examination because all these pains that come your way will only make you a better person i believe in one god the father almighty maker of heaven and earth of all things visible and invisible i believe in one lord jesus christ the only begotten son of god born of the father before all ages god from god like from light true god from true god begotten not made consubstantial with the father through him all things were made for us men for our salvation he came down from heaven and by the holy spirit was incarnate of the virgin mary and became men for our sin he was crucified under pontius pilate he suffered death and he was buried and rose again on the third day in accordance with the scriptures he ascended into heaven and he seated at the right hand of the father he will come again in glory to judge the living and the dead and his kingdom would have no end i believe that the holy spirit the lord the giver of life who proceeds with the father and the son who with the father and the son is adored and glorified it was spoken to the prophets i believe in one holy catholic apostolic church i confess one baptism for the forgiveness of sins and i look forward to the resurrection of the dead in the life of the world to come amen may we grow in character may we deepen in integrity by our courageous generosity by bearing witness for the lord after a repetition let us say lord hear our prayer lord hear our prayer that the church may never tire of exhorting all men and women to make choices that are in line with god's will let us pray lord hear our prayer that the holy father and all our spiritual leaders may constantly guide and inspire us to live according to god's law let us pray lord hear our prayer that our political and cultural leaders may create an environment that supports and promotes what is good and worthy of praise let us pray lord hear our prayer that all the media practitioners may be totally imbued with authentic values and inspire their audiences to choose what is right and virtuous let us pray lord hear our prayer that all parents and educators may instill in the young generations a sincere love for truth sincerity purity and love for god and people let us pray lord hear our prayer that all of us may work in harmony and synergy to build up a society characterized by the authentic filipino virtuous values of compassion generosity fairness religiosity and peacefulness let us pray lord hear our prayer in silence we pray for our own personal intentions let us pray lord hear our prayer lord be with us when we are tried stay with us as we are tested may every problem may every life and the chalice of salvation giving thanks that you have held us worthy to be in your presence and minister to you humbly we pray that partaking of the body and blood of christ we may be gathered into one by the holy spirit remember lord your church spread throughout the world and bring her to the fullness of charity together with francis our pope my brother bishops with the clergy of lingandagupan and all those who serve you faithfully in the church remember also our brothers and sisters have fallen asleep in the hope of the resurrection and all have died in your mercy welcome them into the light of your face have mercy on us all we pray that you the blessed virgin mary mother of god with blessed joseph a spouse with the blessed apostles and all the saints who have pleased you throughout the ages we may merit to be coheirs to eternal life and may praise and glorify you through your son jesus christ through him and with him and in him o god almighty father in the unity deceptive and blindness of perspective from threats intimidation and perverse language let us pray together hear us lord that conscience may always be our ultimate norm that the common good may always be our highest goal that human dignity may be respected at all time that the poor and the weak may always have the priority that care for creation may never be ignored that solidarity may guide the path of peace and development that genuine fear of god and love of neighbors may guide those who seek public office let us pray shepherd of souls and savor of the nations politics this year gave to us a call to serve others and grow in holiness guide our politics as you guide our lives may our political engagement for voters and candidates bring glory to your loving name and help us grow in
