rule and that your church may rejoice and troubled in our devotion through our lord jesus christ your son who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the holy spirit god forever and ever amen a reading from the first letter from the book of sirach when a sieve is shaken the husks appear so do one's faults when one speaks as a test of what the potter molds in the furnace so in tribulation is the test of the just the fruit of the tree shows the care it has had so too does one speech disclose the bent of one's mind praise no one before he speaks for it is then that people are tested the word of the lord [Music] lord it is good to give thanks to you [Music] lord it is good to give thanks to you it is good to give thanks to the lord to sing praise to your name most high to proclaim your kindness at dawn and your faithfulness throughout the night lord it is good to give thanks to you the just one shall flourish like the palm tree like a cedar of lebanon shall he grow they that are planted in the house of the lord shall flourish in the courts of our god lord it is good to give thanks to you they shall bear fruit even in old age vigorous and sturdy shall they be declaring how just is the lord my rock in whom there is no wrong lord it is good to give thanks to you [Music] a reading from the first letter of saint paul to the corinthians when this is which is corruptable clothes itself with incorruptibility and this which is mortal clothes itself with immortality then the word that is written shall come about death is swallowed up in victory where o death is your victory whereo death is your sting the sting of death is sin and the power of sin is the law and thanks be to god who gives us the victory through our lord jesus christ therefore my beloved brothers and sisters be firm steadfast always devoted to the work of the lord knowing that in the lord your labor is not in vain the word of the lord um hallelujah [Music] [Music] shine light lights like lights in the world as you hold on to the word [Music] the lord be with you a reading from the holy gospel according to luke jesus told his disciples a parable can a blind person guide a blind person will not both fall into a pit no disciple is superior to the teacher but when fully trained every disciple will be like his teacher why do you notice the splinter in your brother's eye but do not perceive the wooden beam in your own how can you say to your brother brother let me remove the splinter in your eye when you do not even notice the wooden beam in your own eye you hypocrite remove the wooden beam from your eye first then you will see clearly to remove the splinter in your brother's eye a good tree does not bear rotten fruit nor does a rotten tree bear good fruit for every tree is known by its own fruit for people do not pick figs from thorn bushes nor do they gather grapes from brambles a good person out of the store of goodness in his heart produces good but an evil person out of a store of evil produces evil for from the fullness of the heart the mouth speaks the gospel of the lord good morning when we think about what is happening in ukraine and i bet you if we are able to play what is happening there right now i wonder whether we should be telling ourselves good morning and whether there is anything good about this morning but we thank god because he knows it all before you and i we do not know where this is going to and how it will end what god knows it is a good morning because we are here before god to worship god we are not here just for ourselves we are here for even our brothers and sisters all over the world especially in ukraine right now so we ask god who knows it all to give peace to our brothers and sisters to give peace to that part of the world and to give peace to our world you see you and i can actually stay here and look at what is happening there and we want to tell them we want to tell them and speak to the situation and say hey this is happening why is this happening this person is at fault this that jesus says today that it is very easy to see the wrongs of all the people and we want to teach them but it is difficult to see the wrongs that we ourselves do what is happening in that part of the world in that context that is boiling right now is there any way that i have contributed to what is happening there have i found myself in that situation where i played a role to what had what is happening there to what might have happened in the past in my own context and even today it is very easy to be able to see what is wrong with another person but difficult to see what is wrong with me jesus is right we pray for peace in ukraine but it is also good for us to look at ourselves and to ask the world is crazy what is my contribution to this craziness friends jesus is our teacher we are like the tree that god has planted and we ask ourselves what sort of fruit are we bearing the fruits that we can ever bear will be identical to the kind of heart that we have today we question ourselves we examine ourselves and ask ourselves what sort of three am i and what sort of fruits am i bearing the question is what is the foundation of my being we are christians right we are christians catholic christians so in my own life and in my relationship the kind of ideas i put out there my the kind of ideologies that i support how does it contribute to what is happening in what is playing out in this troubling situation today so as christians we learn from jesus last sunday he told us love your enemy and he said again do not judge and you will not be judged and he said do not condemn and you will not be condemned and he says again give and it will be given unto you and it says forgive these are you know the foundations of our life and we ask ourselves what jesus tells us to do are we doing it and how are we doing it and if we do it it will help our world but are we doing it as the good tree that will bear good fruits in the world are we doing what jesus wants us to do and in today's gospel it is an extension of last sundays brothers and sisters our identity is christian children of god that is who we are and what we are how we are living according to those precepts principles christian principles is what today's liturgy invites us to examine ourselves what we believe and what we practice can help in changing the world it can help not only by our words the first reading highlights the words says look let a man or a woman speak and when that person speaks you know who that person is that is the first reading but it is not only by what you say what you say has got to corroborate what you do and in that sense you will be able to tell the world who you are we are christians god has a chance of working peace in our world through us through the kind of ideas we put out there and through the actions that we take do not condem other people but does that mean that we cannot speak a word we can jesus does not think that we shouldn't speak a word but he only encourages us to not feel that we are sense and other people are seen as we should be able to recognize our own faults and humbly work to always better ourselves and be able to interact with other people and so when we are able to humble ourselves to see our own faults and to admit it that we are working to better ourselves then we can be in partnership with our brother or our sister who also has to work to better himself or herself that is the way to go in other words we should be charitable in trying to speak to other people we should be charitable it should not be condemnatory we should be able to give what do they call it constructive criticisms you are not going to tell the other person off i will teach you you will listen to me that is not the approach but we will be able to work together by me admitting that i am also human and that we hear from god and that god can help us to resolve problems in interpersonal relationships and even at the political level this is who we are christians we hear from god from jesus when we cried out at the beginning of the mass lord have mercy on us it means we really mean it we are not just celebrating rituals we mean it lord have mercy on us it means that we acknowledge the fact that in our own ways we have also done wrong so the liturgy and the teaching is all tied together jesus wants us to be good people god wants us to be good people and he's given us the way to work it out we acknowledge our own faults and struggle to make ourselves better and we will be able to engage other people in their own struggles this is the way religion our faith can also help us to create a better world and when we follow jesus like this he will identify us truly when we journey back home jesus will not deny us he will recognize us i believe in one god the father almighty maker of heaven and earth of all things visible and invisible i believe in one lord jesus christ the only begotten son of god god of the father befallages god from god light from light true god from true god begotten not made consubstantial with the father through him all things were made for us male and for our salvation came down from heaven and by the holy spirit was the increment of the virgin mary for a sake he was crucified under pontius pilate he suffered death and was buried and rose again on the third day in accordance with the scriptures they ascended into heaven and is seated at the right hand of the father he will come again in glory to judge the living undead and his kingdom will have no end i believe in the holy spirit the lord the giver of life who proceeds from the father and the son who with the father and the son is adored and glorified who has spoken through the prophets i believe in one holy catholic and apostolic church for the forgiveness of sins and i look forward to the resurrection of the dead and the life of the world to come amen let us present our petitions to god are merciful father please respond lord hear our prayer for pope francis and bishop zubik may they continue by god's grace to be strengthened by the good news of the gospel let us pray to the lord for innocent people in ukraine and around the world harmed by violence or instability may god bless and console them let us pray to the lord for the community of faith gathered here may we grow in compassion and love through the grace of the holy spirit and the example of jesus let us pray to the lord for the intentions that each of us bring to mass today may those who have asked for our prayers be comforted by our compassion strengthen through our prayers and be restored to the fullness of life and health through the healing touch of god let us pray to the lord for our beloved dead especially bridget b persianni and erica rich may they come to share in the fullness of christ's glory and enjoy his favor forever let us pray to the lord and for the intention of this mass the people of our parish let us pray to the lord erase the intercession of our blessed mother and pray hail mary full of grace the lord is with thee blessed are you among women and blessed holy mary mother of god now now they are there amen [Music] deliver us oh lord of truth from speech unpacked fighting from lives that by their faithfulness deny your spoken creed for you have taught that weightless words are like the shifting sand when storm and floods they're raging in they give no place to stand when we with gold familiar freeze confess that you are lord whose faithfulness supports our spoken word lord help us build on solid rock no floods can under mourn me actions follow words we speak that creed with deed come by [Music] pray my dear brothers and sisters that my sacrifice and yours may be acceptable to god the almighty father may the lord accept the sacrifice at your hands for the praise and glory of his name for our good and good of all his holy church oh god who provide gifts to be offered to your name and count our oblation as signs of our desire to serve you with devotion we ask of your mercy that what you want as the source of mary may also help us to attain mary's reward through christ oh lord amen the lord be with you and with your spirit lift up your hearts we lift them up to the lord let us give thanks to the lord our god it is truly right and just our duty and our salvation always and everywhere to give you thanks lord holy father almighty and eternal god for you lay the foundations of the world and have arranged the changing of times and seasons you formed man in your own image and set humanity over the whole world in all its wonder to rule in your name over all you have made and forever praise you in your mighty words through christ o lord and so with the angels we praise you as in joyful celebration we are claimed holy holy holy lord holy lord god of hosts heaven and earth are full of your glory hosanna hosanna hosanna in the highest blessed is he who comes in the name of the lord [Music] you're indeed holy oh lord the fount of all holiness make holy therefore these gifts we pray by sending down your spirit upon them like they do fall so that they may become for us the body and blood of our lord jesus christ at the time he was betrayed and entered willingly into his passion he took bread and gave him thanks broke it and gave it to his disciples saying take this all of you and eat of it for this is my body which will be given up for you in a similar way when supper was ended he took the chalice and once more giving thanks he gave it to his disciples saying take this all of you and drink from it for this is the chalice of my blood the blood of the new and eternal covenant will be poured out for you and for many for the forgiveness of sins do this in memory of me the mystery of him we proclaim your death oh lord and profess your resurrection until you come again until you come again therefore as we celebrate the memorial of his death and resurrection we offer you lord the bread of life and the chalice of salvation giving thanks that you have held us worthy to be in your presence and minister to you humbly we praise the partaking of the body and blood of christ we may be gathered into one by the holy spirit remember lord your church spread throughout the world and bring her to the fullness of charity together with francis our pope david bishop and all the clergy remember also our brothers and sisters who are falling asleep in the hope of the resurrection and all who have died in your mercy welcome them into the light of your face have mercy on us all we pray that with the blessed virgin mary mother of god blessed yourself and spouse with the blessed apostles and all the sins who have pleased you throughout the ages we may merit to be coheirs said to no life may praise and glorify you through your son jesus christ through him and with him and in him o god almighty father in the unity of the holy spirit all glory and honor is yours forever and ever [Music] [Music] amen at the savior's command and formed by divine teaching we dare to say our kingdom father thy will be done on
