Stumbling Into Destiny - The Nicole Crank Show

oh my gosh i am so late i'm not even wearing a watch oh hey heidi sorry sorry oh my gosh i gotta calm down this is just getting out of control hey guys what's up oh stop sorry i'm late oh hey um i'm ready i'm ready i know i'm late sorry well guys i'm sorry sorry i'm late fumbling around stumbling around but isn't that what life is like a lot of times you like tripping over yourself tripping to get in the car tripping up financially tripping up making expenditures tripping up saying the wrong things in your marriage or your relationship and then things seem to go south is it possible to fail forward you know the bible says thy word is a lamp unto thy feet and a light unto the path it says that the footsteps of the righteous man even when you're sighs nine that they're ordered of the lord i met my husband probably eight times before i went out with him and not just met him like he asked me out like eight different times over five months before i finally said yes i would stumble into him at a party i would run into him at this little gathering and i finally had to wise up to see why god had me colliding and stumbling into this guy time after time what is that thing that you might think is strange annoying absurd wrong not right not right now not at this time god might be helping you stumble into your destiny romans 8 28 says god works all things together for your good and that's what we're going to do today my friend bishop dale brauner he's with us first of all he has this amazing huge church in atlanta he's the guy who introduced us to tyler perry and helped name one of his movies and he runs a family-owned business that services people around the world he's successful in every arena and he's going to talk about stumbling into your destiny so if you feel a little stuck if you feel like keep running into the same thing over and over again if you're tripping and looking to see if anybody looks maybe god has you failing forward ready let's go [Music] so [Music] when you were coming today a lot of times we do a big run sheet for the show and i said you know bishop's one of those guys we don't have to give him a very qualified list of questions you just sit down you present a topic and he's just ready to go in a moment's notice because you pastor at this amazing church in atlanta uh you've written books you have probably the most spacious vocabulary i don't know if your vocabulary can be spacious of anyone i've ever heard we actually had a plan to talk about something else today but i think god doesn't always reveal to us exactly what his plans is there's this whole scripture about man's plans and god's yes yes and we were having this conversation and so you were telling us the story about a friend of yours yeah sure um we were in israel at the the holy land and we were there as a guest of julio iglesias wow that's kind of a big deal oh my goodness yeah he has invited me for dinner yet and you know and he sings in seven different languages wow and so we were sitting there having dinner with him one night my wife and i and my wife asked him a question she said how did you get into singing and he simply said i had no plans on going into singing he said i was a champion soccer player while he was playing soccer he sustained a very deadly injury that left him paralyzed for two years two years yes so he thought his career was over probably yes definitely because that's all that he wanted to do he had trained all of his life to be a soccer player wow that had to be a devastating blow i'm sure that it was and depression that perhaps even set in he might have battled and someone brought a guitar to him and put it to him in his hospital bed and said while you're laying up here you may as well learn how to play the guitar wow and that's what he did with the time he learned how to play the guitar wow so what could have been the end for him what could have been the reason that he became a drug addict or an alcoholic yes or divorced or any any of the things but instead yes god uses his reverse yes for promotion yes absolutely um can you talk to us just a little bit about stumbling into a destiny and what seems unintentional to us is very intentional to god oh absolutely you know most people think that just because they've come to what looks like the end of the road it's really a bend in the road where god uses it to pivot us my wife and i actually met in high school by one of these uh you know just it was one of those divine moments she literally i'd never seen her before she literally fell at my feet she stumbled into her neck she stumbled into her destiny she stumbled yes i love it yes and so i said this was ruth finding her bow ass but she literally fell i and i later learned that she stumbled over one of her her friend's feet and fell at my feet wow and so when i saw her for the first time in the flesh she was lying at my feet she fell for you she did she did she did absolutely so how long did it take you to ask her out after that moment well you know i was a deep christian already in ministry and i was doing a high school in high school yes so i had a i had a an organization that i started in my public high school of 2000 students called the praise the lord club yeah so he's an underachiever obviously and so a young man that i got saved in that group became sort of my and he served as my a pastor of evangelism until i planted him out on a church but he witnessed to her and invited her to come to one of our meetings so here she comes and then i'm the one up teaching wow in the high school and what happens next she wanted to talk to me you know yeah like high school girls i'm like yeah right like she wants this you know and she was a great girl came from a wonderful family and all of that but that began it's it started as a friendship it started as a friendship and grew from there and that's what we want to help you with today you might be thinking you know here i am at this point in my life and things have not gone as planned covid did not go as planned getting furloughed from my job did not go as planned being spending that much time with my family who i thought i loved until i spent that much time with my family did not go as planned i want to let you know that god has a plan for you god has a purpose for you the footsteps of the righteous man they are ordered of the lord but here's the thing we don't always get the plan signed sealed delivered and sent to us because you can't walk by our plan and walk by faith at the same time you're not going to believe how bishop's family stumbled into the greatest blessing of their life jolly fun-loving patient [Music] oh my goodness my favorite joke i have so many jokes i can't exactly nail down a favorite one my favorite joke is the one that is the freshest one that i hear that makes me laugh if i had a superpower it would simply be to be able to read other people's thoughts so that i know what they're really thinking of when i was a kid i had this morbid desire to be a mortician [Music] no more no more the most memorable day of my life is probably the day that i met jesus it changed my destiny it awakened me to purpose and it set me on a forward motion to being able to make a positive impact in the lives of others i've got sunshine on a cloudy day [Music] a lot of people have told me what a challenging year this has been like oh my gosh we got derailed we got disarmed i got out of work there were these viruses the stuff on the news the tension emotionally discharged and relationally challenged and you know what every challenge presents us with an opportunity i love romans 12 and 2. do not be conformed to this world and all the stress everybody else is feeling but be transformed how by the renewing of your mind well i want to renew my mind but i don't know how to renew my mind how do i renew my mind that's why we have come up with the t12 transformation program and see who can actually do it first okay and so from what i understand you take it and you just flip the water bottle over and you let it land and the first person who gets it to land like that is the winner okay okay are you ready on your mark get set go [Music] [Laughter] oh this is not as easy as it looks i'm not even landing on the table wow how did they do this i think these bottles are rigged oh almost almost almost wow oh wow okay ready five seconds five wow four three wow oh my goodness oh come on come on and this rig just rigged [Applause] [Music] you know i love how in high school you knew what you wanted to do and how you wanted to do it how you started a club and two thousand people gathered which is ridiculous um but your history wasn't necessarily ministry your history was family business yes but your family didn't necessarily intentionally get into that business right exactly so tell us the story of the family business wow that was back during the time actually of the great depression wow and my dad was in downtown atlanta he looked up and saw a billboard that said the beauty industry the depression proof business that captured his attention and then he thought about it that when he would visit people in the hospital and they would be trying to fix their hair wanting you know they might be dying of cancer but they wanted to look cute i'm not throwing any stones but you know i'm smoothing my hair right now i found a way around covet closing salons and even during uh when we had our economic downturn of 2008 people still started kept going to massages their hair appointments their nail appointments all of these so-called luxury things because it makes them feel pretty special so that's what caught his eye he really loved the idea that an industry could be depression proof so i wonder if he'd ask god god give me a sign [Laughter] even this tv show bishop um i didn't see it coming i was speaking every weekend at our church in either st louis or florida and my husband was doing the opposite state on those weekends i was the executive pastor of our church six campuses two states um and then trying to hold it all together trying to be a mom trying to be a wife you know i was working probably 16 hour days at least 12 hour days and you know i had the victory network come to me and say hey we would love for you to develop some women's programming for tv and i was like i was really excited about the opportunity i'm like well yes you know i want to do that and then i realized what i committed to and i went to my husband about a week later and said hey baby i think i said yes when i should have said i should pray about it so we set a meeting we had a call and i got busy i was in a bunch of executive meetings you know handling business of the church and i'm like oh my gosh i'm running late for this call my husband says baby i got this wow i said be gracious tell them thank you don't let them think i'm a spoiled brat i just i'm not gonna do right by them and so i forget to ask him about it until that night we're getting ready to go to bed i'm like oh how did how did they take the news or like are they okay were they mad did they understand he goes oh no they're not mad at all you're doing the show wow god just allowed me to stumble into like even with a resistant attitude so let me ask you a question have you ever gone kicking and screaming into the will of god stumbled into the will of god or tried to tell god no and he just kept opening that door for you you know my even being called into the ministry i'm my personality is naturally shy and introverted so every time that i'm before people i'm out of my comfort zone wow you never know so yes i was i was thrust but it's it's not about us it's about coming through us it's about i think the deposit oftentimes determines the destination the deposit is trying to get somewhere he's trusted you with a deposit of other people that need your story so being a shy guy stumbling into your destiny you're already pursuing it as an introvert in high school yes so how did that end up developing well these girls are falling at your feet you know it just developed i always you know i was this quiet shy person but whenever i was doing a god call i mean it's like a boldness was there it's the best way that i could describe it to you is how even if if a mother wouldn't fight for herself touch her children that fight that you see there you give them a reason to fight and don't mess with that baby you see that it was a little tiny rose exactly so that was the thing and and you know and i i kept doing it and actually it a passion birthed out of it it doesn't always start in passion so did opportunity present itself and you stepped right in or did you stumble in i think that i just stumbled in i stumbled in because i actually started uh in my parents home i had five other brothers so it was really just to save our uh you know the family then we started inviting people from the neighborhood before i knew it we had 75 people in the living room listening to me teach wow how old were you 14. [Laughter] you know that reminds me of timothy timothy thought he was too young moses thought he stuttered wow david was the outcast on the back side of a hill and not even his daddy thought about him if you've got daddy issues david had daddy issues too it doesn't matter how you've stumbled through life or how you've fallen down it doesn't change the plans that god has for you we serve a god according to ephesians 3 20 that he says he is exceedingly abundantly above all we can ask think or imagine and god is not limited by what has happened to us he is speaking to what he wants to do through us so i want to let you know it may look like you're stumbling through life but i think with god you're stumbling in the right direction [Music] i met this boy his name is david crank he was this preacher boy that i thought might be a drug dealer crazy hair and whacked up style and didn't work during the day what does this boy do and god had me marry the perfect man for me and my son who i thought might be a mistake because i was 17 years old in my senior year of high school when i gave birth he is now the campus pastor of our florida campuses he leads our three florida campuses come on we got two we're open and a third why do i share this with you because you are more than you think you are god has plans for you there for good and not for evil to bring you to an expected end if your dream is down here i want you to remember not who you are but who your god is and what he wants to do for you do you believe that god believes in you today and if you do let me hear you tell him i haven't had coffee yet today i was trying to save it for later and i might have messed up how am i going to get through this part of my life with dignity you don't understand what i'm going through god has you through every single thing that you're going through in your life recipes legacy is not about what you did legacy is about what you set in motion [Music] destiny means purpose it means i have a reason for being here it means that i might not like the chapter that i'm in right now but god knows the end of the book and the end of the story so i'm going to find purpose where i'm at and where i'm going through him and that's going to be through my purpose destiny has a lot to do with calling i think a lot of times it can be one of the biggest questions of our life but i believe that where the bible says before you reform your mother's womb i knew you is really beautiful because we can know that there is a destiny and a calling on our life before we even knew ourselves so to me that's a lot of what destiny is destiny is god's dream for you i believe that too many people think that they have the right to set that in motion but god is saying there's something that i wove you in secret that is for you something only you can do and so i love destiny i believe it is your god-breathed mandate on your life you ever have things that you don't know what to do within your life you know like maybe you should pray but you don't even know how to start the conversation how about this one you have stuff you want to talk to god about you think but then when it comes to like talking to him about it you're like how do i even tell him this stuff i mean it's so deep and so dark that's why i wrote this book how to talk to god about the tough stuff i got one more thing it's like i want to start out with hey how you doing life's great but there's this one thing i'm really and then i wrote all these topics i wrote this like i want control back i'm so embarrassed wrestling a great guy he's a christian a lot of people don't realize that he's an actual ordained minister yes yes from new orleans and uh but when he moved here to an atlanta uh i became acquainted with him and he somehow stumbled on my vocabulary yeah we all stumbled on your vocabulary and and he was trying to uh to name a movie and so he called me one day and he says can you give me a word for bitterness and immediately i said acrimony acrimony and he said that's it i'm going to name my movie acrimony so you thought you were giving him a synonym yeah right right you didn't know you were helping name a movie right exactly yeah isn't that cool how god takes what seems like seemingly insignificant acts yes and turns them into the ingredients for a miracle yes absolutely absolutely talk to us about stumbling and how you can stumble into the miracles of god well you know most people stumble because they lose their focus it's amazing but but a blessing comes out of that moses had to turn aside to see a sight he stumbled into god on the mountain yeah he wasn't looking for god he stumbled into it a lot of people don't realize the word focus literally means it comes from an old word that means fireplace fireplace fireplace isn't that amazing wow there's something riveting about a fire in a fireplace and and just think about it you should always focus on those things that that light your fire when you lose your focus you lose your fire wow so that's that's what helps us it it pushes us into becoming who we're supposed to be and sometimes we have to even lose focus of what's happening right now and look back because your greatest treasure is what's behind you and it's you it's the building material for what you're building your future wow i i like to say it this way that wisdom of the ages is better than knowledge at the moment what you're doing this show it's almost a form of being a scribe jesus left us his book you're leaving us episodes uh legacy is not about what you did legacy is about what you set in motion that still people can be able to access 50 years from now 100 years from now they'll go and they'll be able to draw uh inspiration encouragement and strength from something that you're doing today wow i love how you said legacy is what you set in motion yes and how your wife stumbled and powered your feet yes and how you stumbled into naming a hollywood movie and i stumbled into what turned into a television show yes julio glacious stumbled into a singing guitar playing a career yes yes and that's how i want to encourage you today you might feel like you're stumbling around in the dark you might feel like you're blind but god he's gonna use it for good for the saving not just a view of many souls that coordinates with what you said legacy is being set into motion bishop i believe god is setting some things into motion with what people thought were stumbling blocks in their life is there any way you would maybe speak to them and pray for them for a minute oh yeah absolutely absolutely yes you know god is he's allowing you to be able to stumble some of you might have stumbled right into this program right now but god had you to stumble there so that you could be projected forward in an incredible way proverbs 16 9 says that a man's heart plans his way but the lord orders his steps so god's got you he's got you and i see in you even if you don't feel this way but i see in you a leader leader comes from two different words leia endure lay means path der means finder a leader is a pathfinder they stumble upon it let me just pray with you that god would help you to stumble into a rich destiny to be able to bless others dear lord jesus god i speak in the name of jesus and i ask o god that you will lead and guide your precious people lead them into that destiny help them to be able to see opportunities and seize those opportunities to be able to recognize that surely this is the hand of god this is not merely a coincidence but god your hand is leading me guiding me lifting me out of my shame out of my despair out of my brokenness and bringing me into a place of destiny and we trust you with our future now lord god cover your people empower them to become everything that they shall have wish they had become when they stand before you in jesus name amen amen you know i believe god just moved in your life i know i know you're still seeing things a little bit different and a little bit crazy but i think god just took what seemed to be a fuzzy vision and gave you prescription lenses of the word it's not that your future changed it's just that it came in focus being able to see what god can see in a world where you couldn't see it but remember we said we walk by faith and not by sight that's why the
