hello friends it's me and today is dharma and monday and today's video is about a girl who gets laughed at for not being able to spell okay let's watch excellent natalie go ahead spell that that's easy excellence e e-x-c-e-l-l-e-n-t excellent excellent work okay so our last word will be resilient dana did you spell that for us um no she wasn't even raising her hand how are you gonna call on her when you got all these guppies like me yes i can do it okay resilient r e s i l e wrong uh you mixed up your iron e again i'm sorry you know what your new name should be dyslexic dana hey natalie cut that okay it's not nice to make fun of people's learning disabilities just because she didn't know how to spell resilient why are you gonna be like oh it's not nice to make fun of people's learning disabilities i would have been like excuse me sir also imagine your biggest flex being able to spell excellent i mean if you're gonna bully somebody for not knowing how to spell it's gotta be not knowing the difference between your and your dana you're okay you did great okay everybody hawkins beehive spelling bee is in two weeks and the winner receives ooh the beehive spelling bee trophy so sounds like a dream but it mix up my letters a lot and [Music] not very smart hey listen to me having a learning disability does not mean that you are not smart it just means that you learn differently i'm built different fun fact i don't know the difference between left and right i got to like think about it for a hot second and i have to pull up the like this and like in my head but most of the time i could do it fast enough that nobody knows that i don't know the difference between left and right you just need to be more resilient huh that's not funny nobody's laughing so take one of those and take this spelling note cards and practice thanks get out of here bro those are some big words b-i-g i got one right conquer c-o-n-q-e-r conquer again this is so hard hey oh my gosh i'm so sorry watch where you're going wait don't tell me you're actually thinking about entering the spelling bee yeah i'm practicing for it why can you even spell practice are you gonna get your eyes and your e's mixed up again get real you're not smart enough to win excuse me let me tell you something i before e except after c what has the world come to where somebody is bullying somebody for trying to learn how to spell words can you spell silence well mr willis is just because i learn differently doesn't mean i'm not smart [Music] he's just being nice dyslexic dana and i'm not supposed to be laughing wait what you want you talking like this i can't take none seriously these cards can't save you nothing can bye oh rude i can't believe she did that like if you love spelling so much you should be encouraging her or you know what you can even be like oh i secretly know that you're not actually gonna win but let me like at least help you out what do you have to rule her cards for my note cards i can't believe it dana what happened i should have never tried to enter the spelling bee oh never be smart enough to win hey don't say that you can still win oh yeah how would you know you don't know what it's like to have dyslexia [Music] actually i know pretty well what it's like to have dyslexia boom now we got the good old plot twist what do you mean i don't know are you saying i don't have it i've been struggling with it my whole life what would you have yes but i don't let it stop me yeah look at him now my dude is a whole entire teacher you know i actually won the spelling bee 20 years ago that's me on the night i won my english teacher believed in me i didn't think i was smart enough to win but she taught me the exact thing that i am trying to teach you i'm gonna stop you right there why in the world does he keep a photo of him and his sixth grade english teacher in his wallet and he pull it out like remember that time i won the spelling bee 20 years ago oh good times i was like peak life right there i keep a picture of my girlfriend or wife or child in my wallet you know i keep me and my sixth grade english teacher just taught me how to spell having a learning disability does not mean that you are not smart it just means that you learn differently [Music] oh my gosh take conquer before you spell it just sound it out slowly conquer say where's how they're actually spell conquer or conquer conquer er start tapping find a rhythm and say each letter slowly we'll see if this works c o code see [Music] yes that's called finger tap spelling you are so smart you just learn differently okay come on let's keep going [Music] you know what they do have a point a lot of people learn differently it's not that you're dumb but it's not that you're smart either i'm just kidding some people they just learn differently and school isn't always very good at teaching that usually they'll just teach everybody the same and like some people understand it some people don't and they're like whatever don't care so she learns to tap while spelling out words the beat helps her put the letters together in proper order she practices spelling while jumping rope she finds the rhythm helps her learn faster that's actually a good idea she discovers all these new learning tools to help her overcome her dyslexia dana was spelling words she never even thought would be possible what is spelling nowadays when you got autocorrect i feel like i just be really good at spelling it now i could barely spell resilient autocorrect ducked me up literally then came the day of the spelling bee then it gets asked a lot of challenging words and each time spells them correctly she keeps moving up the ranks and beating one opponent after the next battle royale spelling edition literally beat you in my words she makes it all the way to the last round oh only to face off against natalie natalie you get dress coded yet but first imma make you taste defeat d-e-f-e-a-t and now for the final round of the hawkins middle school annual beehive spelling bee natalie your word is intelligence intelligence that's so easy you might as well just give me the trophy intelligence i n t e l i g e n c e intelligence stupid stupid that is incorrect intelligence has two l's no no no no that was an accident i want to try again no i'm sorry rules are rules oh overconfidence is a flimsy shield she really went in there like oh intelligence is easy my goddamn goof but how embarrassing you gonna talk all that trash and then not be able to spell an easy word oh very sad story dana you can spell this next word correctly you win the trophy and that word is resilience oh we are peanut wares now okay brazilians r e s i [Music] l [Music] i e n c e easy that is correct [Applause] and the winner of the 2021 beehive trophy is that's not fair how can someone with dyslexia beat me i don't know maybe you know it takes some intelligence you know if you could only spell it bro that's embarrassing take a seat it's not that serious it's a spelling bee you're obviously not smart enough says the person who can't spell intelligence ah i didn't think i was smart enough either but then someone reminded me that just because you have a learning disability doesn't mean you're not smart it just means you learn differently whatever whatever who says she could leave
