Storyland New Hampshire

[Music] hey you all carpetbagger here coming to you live from the north more specifically Glen New Hampshire and even more specifically than that I'm in front of story land this is a classic 1954 era a story Land Park do you know where they incorporate fairytales stories that sort of thing into an amusement park setting this has been a continuous operation since then it's gone through a few name changes but it's still here and thriving and I'm excited to see what's inside so follow me [Music] this entrance building it looks like it belongs to the Crooked Man yeah I guess this is a crooked little house this is the crooked man you can see he's doing some repairs Oh actually he's a cast member and his name is Daryl I love this tree carving here you can tell it's a real tree that's been carved into various fairytale characters here you can take a drink out of a sunflower look at that okay mother Goose says follow this path and it will lead us well old Mother Hubbard storage covered I guess it's a literal cupboard where you can store your bags press the button [Music] Mary Mary quite contrary one of the most troubling fairytales if you know that whole story I don't know why she at this tiny little house the tiny little fire it's the classic old woman's shoe and just like the real version just scurrying with children and uh there's the stork ready to deliver yet another child she's gonna it's not gonna be happy to have that Oh moving tree his name is Jim three bears house I think this might be some sort of The Beehive maybe and it says the three bears are gone for a walk but they've left the door open so you may go in and look around surprisingly we have some bowls of porridge and varying sizes very small stairs we can work our way up and we have some very sized beds upstairs that's right it's me the tree talking to you before if you have you must be my grandson Timothy over there here we have grandmother's house and what sort of things are going on in there caution wolf and granny's bed here we have Little Bo Peep and her sheep are just right over here hey sheep kids her love ringing that school bell well there's the teacher [Music] [Music] look at me I'm a baked into a pie so this is one two buckle my shoe three four knock in the door five six pick up sticks seven eight lay them straight nine ten a big fat hen so here's these shoes that you would buckle good old buckled shoe why don't they make shoes with buckles anymore there we go so one two buckle my shoe three four knock at the door five six pick up sticks seven eight lay them straight nine ten there's our big fat and there we have a faceless mother Goose and there's faceless Jack just rockabyebaby and a tree top it's kind of a spooky tree it's got spooky owl the spooky eyeballs who would put a baby in a tree anyways some some nursery rhymes they're just kind of weird I know yeah I'm sure what this says have some sort of pee Annie oh there's the home of Peter Peter pumpkin eater up there we can see his wife that he kept inside a giant pumpkin again nursery rhymes don't always make a whole lot of sense lady forced into a giant pumpkin by her husband here is the spider that tormented Miss muffin see it going up and down oh there it goes some animal representations of fairytale characters this is Chicken Little I don't know these chickens are normal size the button there's a black chief right there Peter Rabbit down here is mr. McGregor's guard and you can see the cabbages of faces that's kind of odd let's see if Peter rabbits in there oh yeah he's in there relaxing he's all good there's three little pigs in here unfortunately they're all hanging out inside the straw house you would think they would go to the brick house as the clutch washer - even the stick house will be better but they're pretty they're pretty cute I think I guess this is the big bad wolf wonder what he's doing with that knife this guy is always up to no good we have the three Billy Goats Gruff right there that troll lurking under the bridge all right heading into the castle area this is interesting you actually take a pumpkin coach ride to the castle oh here comes a pumpkin coach all right see people loading up into the pumpkin coach there goes [Applause] and here on top of the hill we have Cinderella's castle check this out Cinderella's glass slipper man she really did have tiny feet its each kids lining up for their photo ops with Cinderella herself so interesting carousel you can see the horse is actually lunged forward and moved and gala I guess the rider controls the gallop of the individual horse is he different children getting the horse to gallop at different speeds welcome in the air bed these cannons here actually fire water into the pond here [Music] ro [Music] [Music] I shot a cannonball Anna that no-good Blackbeard [Music] oh now these kids are firing cannons at us this is a child's visit to other lands you can find see all those animatronic children of various countries all singing together [Music] got a little Mexican themed shooting gallery here we're at this igloo we have the polar coaster here it comes Etta's a walrus on the front hence polar coaster it's windmill here then they have a mill Keable cow these children are currently milking [Music] hop aboard the Raptor Safari I don't know if this is a dinosaur attraction or a hip hop attraction all right here's our vehicles there's humans and cages ready there's SIBO there's Jim James Marley there's been a robbery and carry tooth right it must have traveled all the way here to visit some of its relatives in North America Hey it translates to terrible sight when you see their creeps you'll know why every day I check out a book so seems really more about than a drive-through every restaurant [Applause] there there's been a brightly-coloured philosoraptor soon fishing near the bridge he will stay perfectly still [Music] Wow this is an incredibly soggy player yeah there's clams spitting at me if I can avoid that it's a photo op where you can be a scuba diver but it actually uh squirts water on you while you're posing it's giant octopus here that is the crazy barn a barn right we are lifted into the air inside a barn and then the bar and spins around almost like a tornado simulation in some ways the kids running around in a circle on flying clogs that's creative it's the eagle is it merely patriotic enough it's a pretty cool-looking raft ride that's closed for the season the rain machine over there you can see the mad scientist creating a rain cloud this is town-hall occasion get your own personalized story land driver's license check out these guys that's Horace right there and I don't know this gentleman's name who [Music] on everything is for the know if that's Tom Sawyer back there looks like he's balancing a can on a stick on his foot is that something Tom Sawyer did I forget VIP down the red carpet absolutely protested oh here we go Shaw shows mr. crow mother Goose and a doubt Dino bones damn boosting ticket pans up if you're down you have fun that's such a good cross safely just as soon as the train has been appreciate you guys joining me here today at story land here in Glen New Hampshire this is a very very very amazing Park I really enjoyed it here I'm great to see something that has been around for so long still thriving and a lot of the little secret interesting bits that you don't expect little animatronics here and there keep an eye out for I really enjoyed my time here if you like see other places I've been other amusement parks are the roadside attractions other museums please check the interactive map in the description I'll show you where I've been and you could tell me where I need to go next also if you'd like to help support the channel consider buying a t-shirt consider donating to patreon a $3 more donation a month we'll get you a postcard monthly but for now this one's in the back
