[Music] [Applause] [Music] again they're guys pre noticed is pretty windy this is stone Chiara Kyra one of the other with the worst of it last night but um yeah it's still lingering today has been some rain and yes there was 60 70 mile an hour winds so a lot of what was going to come down has come down the paths littered with fallen trees and stuff today 20 30 mile an hour at the moment it was a bit higher earlier so see how we get on it's getting late in the day already I need to get some long branches so I can make a pyramid because I've got teepee tent with me and I want to suspend and not have to have a PO in the middle so I'm going to do that before I do anything else taking me the hardest things to find [Applause] the wind and the rain stein to pick up now I've got three long pieces I think one or two of them come down in the storm the other one was a copyist at an earlier date so yeah I just need to peg out this tent and get on the tribe but I've got the pole with me I think so I'll rip it up with the pole so I've got the right height and then put the tripod up so could it exactly right most put a camera away for a minute [Music] [Applause] [Applause] came up a little earlier and carried this up about half a mile walk through with Linda was it's not easy but it's doable i stashed it and yeah one got the backpack I've been eager to use this in the smokey half tent I've only used it in the Belton and yeah it's a bit more compact and you're there nice nice open fire kind of thick [Applause] [Applause] well this come down in the storm so let's take advantage of all this purge part and the rains coming down [Applause] [ __ ] up a bit trying to keep the camera bit inside the tent area here yeah I've got some wood I'm gonna process that in the tent I think why not good enough space about the pole there I just need to get some kindling which me quite easy because so much has come down from all the trees that it's just laying around it's not too wet because it's come down during the storm sounds like this rains here to stay now but I've brought in a load of wood made them there so got some kindling and stuff as well I've even got a stump here which I can use to break down this wood for the stove getting hungry as well so need to process this wood and get a stove going it's like a good some dinner at some point soon probably half hour of light your fat Wow anything's gonna rain quite this much a point of a bit more time to get set up I'm happy with the tripod and there's two reasons for black said this is the second day of storm Akira so I'm hoping most of the stuff is going to come down come down last night and if anything else decided to eventually got some protection above me from any falling branches now surf as best they can but we're in a woodland so you know anything can happen but yeah it's just another layer of protection as well as giving me the space without hold in here which yeah well space I can actually set up on this stump be honest I'm actually pretty happy I brought the Laplander today I wouldn't really be able to use the long silky in here nor easily anyway so this has been great and I haven't got any wood to pick to process i'm myaxx with me already Finn I was trying to keep everything as lightweight as possible side bring the stove it yeah just break these down a bit so they catch them burner [Applause] [Applause] well so far I've got some kindling over there a birch bark with some smaller bits there and quite a lot that I've actually processed already that's some more I can do in a bit I don't know if you pick up on camera to the skies from a blue in the horizon throwing up to more pink we'll have a slight break in the waiver I thought just get my head out stretch the limbs I was gonna be a cramp in one of them because of a process in the wood and everything in a confined space yeah so if I just stretch my legs for a minute maybe see if we do get a sunrise there's a slight break in the rain right now so might do I'll go over look see I go into the clearing over there they're just gonna say how I really like this coyote brown I'm starting to buy a few more things in it the jacket I swapped a green one for coyote one and this tent they do blend in a lot better than the greens because the greens are never that natural but these yeah especially in the winter when there's less greenery around they really do blend in and maybe 10 meters away from the tent here and I can't even see well I can't so know where it is but just about I found some of this paper birch while I was wandering around and that should like pretty easily offer Ferro rod yes just be resharpen this spine got some fat wood with me as well so I'm going to use that and the kindling I collected and it sounds as though that range starting up again hunkering down for the night now anyway and get some of that fuel in there a little bit smokey but that's because of the fat wood this stove doesn't usually actually smoke at all get the draw right open I should pre-move this plantain as well got the stove going nice now really doesn't take long for a temp of this size to heat up with a quite a lot warm it's a medium stove it's not a tiny one but not there's the rain again yeah it heats up really quickly and I can open up the door a little bit if I want to I should probably put in a little bit into the flaps at the top over the vents it's some reason they don't have them go on in this tent would be nice ah I've got the ground sheet down for more woods processed I'm set up feeling good just the sleeping bag and sleeping mat to set up but I'm a pretty good dinner in that purse anyway so let's risk of them getting any holes on them or anything like that especially got the fire blanket the mat for under the stove I'm not go down to the stove and just using it as an extension of the ground she really takes the ground balls a little moist from all the rain we've had wonder if it's gonna rain all night [Applause] [Applause] or I'm not really sure what's for dinner tonight it's just a bit of a experiment really just got several ingredients and we'll see what happens just a bit of a skillet cook really I'm just going to cube up some potatoes first just go some onion and some chilli here before I prep my steak Cobb losing it grab the vista fellow and as you can hear it's pouring put my potatoes on already they're gonna take the longest out of everything just split one across the tin yeah so just tell them going I like the upper vegetables and the state for some black beans as well stick in the onions and might as well put the chilies in while I'm here seeds and all I'll add in just spice at this point as well just garlic powder paprika cumin salt pepper that sort of thing just gonna make a bit of space in here and put in some diced up steak I'll just add a little bit more spice on that just set a taste it doesn't need it and it's a bit hotter at the back of the stove so I'll just move it back there also got some black beans refried black bean and coriander go on at the end as well it's mixing together now smelling great in here and finishing touch of the coriander well so then true before you say it now just give that a mix in and we're done probably doesn't look too appetizing to you but God it smells good okay straight for a piece of that steak that will do nicely somebody's chili potato mm-hmm well I'm gonna enjoy the rest of this the rain has stopped unfortunately I was quite enjoying listening to her took the break in the weather to go out for a pee it's just night and day out there the starkness the wind and everything the dark moon here the glow of the fire and the lantern the warmth should make such a difference it's weird it's a completely different feeling or mindset it's like I've done both sorts of campy not being under a tarp with no fire or anything in the winter and I've done this which I'm quite enjoying at the moment but yeah it's weird you do almost feel a disconnect when you camp in like this be reminded when you go for a pee I've just been sent up the sleep system here and it's become apparent I am on a slope for two-way slope really and 1m slopes it's going towards the stove a little tip for that I might just turn the other way around but if you find that you don't have to reap it you're ten get your stuff sacks your pack your coat whatever it is you have on hand and just stuff it under one side of your sleep map generally you can get yourself nice and level it's only really your top half you need to be from like your waist up that's where the weight is and then you can get yourself nice and level and that's what I tend to do because it's very rare you kind of find any flat spots yes I'm just going to get myself sorted a little bit in here and have a chill and then it'll be hot chocolate time let's push in midnight now so I think I'm going to hunker down I've been round the outside of the tent and kick leaves and debris around the perimeter actually got a slight gap on the bottom of the TPS that's gonna stop any breezes coming in I think in the morning the winds getting up to 40 to 50 mile an hour so we'll see how that goes yeah I'm gonna hunker down and see in the morning [Applause] [Applause] good morning it's a bit of a chilly morning of the good of stove going already stir me up a bit and get some breakfast on shortly I kind of realized last night it probably wasn't the best thing to do the storm clearly wasn't over and I didn't sleep much the second I put my head down something hit the tent coming from a tree above nothing nothing big but it was a bit of a thud and where the moon was so bright you could see the trees swaying all the shadows and I started getting worried with the noise the wind so I got up put my shoes on never Finn no I wouldn't got another piece I was gonna get free originally but got another piece to put on the tripod I'll show you that and that was over where my head was so just a little bit more protection if something did come down or so you know if a tree did but if something came off the tree I did check the trees around me here check though they're well rooted in them but yeah I wouldn't recommend doing this to be honest I didn't sleep well at all barely any sleep because of the noise and I think just cause being worried yeah so I'm gonna get some breakfast on I think really thick glorious loin bacon smoke [Applause] [Music] beautiful [Applause] well hope you enjoyed that one guys has a bit of an experience at least I employ you not to do the same it can be dangerous as you saw him a journey industries all over the place and one could have come down here I checked everything around the vicinity and check if there's anything big overhanging and I had to tripod over and add it to it so I was being as safe as I could but the best thing to do is just knock your out in these conditions go get moving because over the next hour the winds gonna pick up again to about 50 miles an hour so yeah that's just to get out of here so thanks for watching guys and I'll see you in the next one goodbye you [Music]
