Stinson L-1 - Flight to Sun n' Fun - Grand Champion Warbird

yeah it's sign fun week and we got a little trip planned to take the Stinson l1 over here to get it judge all spent about 19 years there's a back burner project trying to get this airplane going so we finally did and I think it's time that we let everybody see what it looks like I used to fly banners for the old weeks air museum in Miami was this and Paul did a great job hopefully we're gonna take it over there and show it off let everybody see what we did anyway let me find Paul figure out he printed off all the information for getting into Sun and fun and it's pretty close so I don't need a map to get there here comes Paul so what do we got we got information for getting in and out of there yeah yeah they got a special frequency getting in on a warp oh there we go okay cool all right all right warbirds South arrival basically just come in south end of the field and all i need's the frequency oh it's in the radio okay and we just got a little kind of a handheld stuck in there [Music] we made it sorry with the break would turn on the right side and I hope I didn't blow anybody anybody but it was gonna take that to get it turned around yeah the right ones weak for some reason yeah it was great I almost got lost good to be here yeah hopefully I'll check this new airplane out alright so they gave me some water that was nice the radio were good coming over and anyway we'll get the settle in here see if we get the judges over here in the grass where we're supposed to be come on I landed the tiller was shimmying like crazy cool anyway I'm gonna go over the warbird building over there and figure out what's gonna take to get this thing judge hopefully you get on the list what's happening and hey joy I just freed a little bit or not a little but that big green since in l1 over there so I just need to register and get on the judges list no I'm not I just showed up I'm gonna fill this out okay gonna be great yeah please thank you very much get that going first here we go thank you so much man preciate it alright we are all set up I got an extra wristband the airplay on holds too but I got three rows down one of my guys come out and go through the deal so that worked out pretty I see we've already got the photographer's out here you know from EAA I'm just doing some shots all right I got it all set up we're ready to be judged hey hey we got some Warburg judges Kermit I think you know what's going on you guys are on the video here yeah thanks for coming by anything you need Paul back there restored the airplane backburner project and Paul fill you in on so why don't we configure two air ambulance configuration this window a that way most of their plane to see in service where we configure for that and this was up in the Aleutians I think they're not oh my god we got all sorts of judges come on Paul there we scored the airplane he'll fill you in on everything we got another couple year complete crease over there so dive in [Music] don't come in fleet winger they try to make this thing as complicated as boss you know I redid a Stinson SR 38 I guess I mean it back to shame the cover your clavicle yeah this airplane flew in the Aleutians at the end of the war and a lot of this stuff when we acquired the airplane was not on it like the oldest the landing gear fairing that was all completely gone the whole we had to redo the whole top thing that said that was all cobbled up and not done properly it's all covered with grade-a what her original was covered with you know Paul went back and all the little places where it's got the inspection zippers and that kind of stuff is proper and covers great yeah it's real and real yeah yeah Paul did everything exactly the way it was done followed all the original drawings with the you know all the stenciling and all of this stuff is you know done exactly the way they would have done I mean there's a lot of stuff if you go like inside all the little boxes and stuff if there was a wiring diagram that was in there it's in there you warbird John that's very grand champion a 1941 Stinson l1 vigilant November 6 3 2 3 3 0 Kermit weeks [Applause] false eslint rebuilt that airplane so it's all for him thank you all right Paul [Music]
