Something has to change... this CAN'T continue...

what's up guys js2 cents here and i'm gonna kind of take this opportunity to just sort of talk with you guys a little bit about some things i think need to change some rants that i have myself and just kind of getting some stuff off my chest i tend to do this every couple of years or so and i feel like i need to just lift some weight because i'm feeling it and i'm not happy about it before we fx 8120 at the time and you know obviously the channel over the last nine years has grown to where it is today one of the things i've been able to really be proud of over the last nine years with this channel is the fact that i've taught so many people thousands if not tens of thousands or more have emailed me in that amount of time telling me that i've given them the courage to build their first computer i gave them the knowledge to fix their stuff i've helped them create their jobs or their careers they found a passion we've got a circular saw outside that's going so you guys hear noise i apologize i can't do anything about that they're building something across the street and it's really loud but anyway that's besides the point um what's happened is we've seen over the last few years here this this great just giant explosion of popularity of pc gaming you see there was a while there when i started this channel we were seeing this dip we were seeing this decline of pc gaming in fact you can even find a video i did in 2012 slash 2013 era where i i talked about is this the end of pc gaming because we were starting to see tablets on the rise they were the first time we were seeing like the ipad and the tablets and stuff kind of make their way to market and become very popular when it comes to gaming uh consoles were obviously a very big deal they still are a big deal but they seem to be a bigger deal than they are now for some odd reason but obviously pc gaming has survived live streaming kind of came in and became a major thing uh people strive to be content creators now whether it's just sharing video games or creating content like we do so everyone and their moms seemed to be building computers over the last few years and it was a great time it was awesome to be able to share this tech with you educate you and get you guys armed with information so that you can make the right buying choices not waste too much money and not be afraid to do it yourself that's what my motto has always been with this channel unfortunately once the pandemic happened we saw not only a frustration with the consumer as you know obviously if you've tried to buy anything in the last year or so it's pretty frustrating experience trying to get just about anything i mean it's no joke every single commodity is pretty much strained out of stock back ordered it doesn't matter what it you're not safe whether it be from rc hobbies or pc hobbies car hobbies trying to buy furniture just trying to get raw materials to to work on any sort of project everything is strange so what we're seeing is this major frustration amongst consumers as well as the manufacturers themselves trust me when i say manufacturers would absolutely love to be able to sell you everything that you guys are trying to buy that's out of stock there's no business out there that thinks that anything out of stock regardless of the price is a good business model period that's where the frustration starts to hit me as well as a content creator i'm seeing so many comments of people that are just pissed off about the fact that we'll even talk about this or even talk about that because of the fact that you can't go out and buy it that's like saying jay since you can't go buy this stuff you should just like shut down your business and that's obviously not something that we're going to do now i share in your frustrations when it comes to being able to not be able to go out and buy something because we have to think very hard about the kind of content that we create we don't want to come off as tone deaf and be like look at this amazing twenty thousand dollar system i'm gonna build just because i'm bored that's the last thing you guys want to see so if you haven't even noticed on this channel we have only done a couple of builds this year alone and those were builds that were specific purpose built like one was for phil to be able to edit these videos that you're currently watching he had an upgrade for him and then one was my personal rig for home and then those parts have basically made their way back into our inventory but beyond that we've not done a whole lot of stuff in fact i even put my simulator rig build that i was trying to work on for here at the studio on hold because the comments are so salty and they're so pissed off about seeing us build anything that we start having to dredge through so much of this nonsense to try and find any sort of comment worth interacting with because you guys think that we're just spoiled ass brats that get everything for free which couldn't be further from the truth so we tried making other kinds of content we tried making silly videos where we have like build-offs where we're shooting each other with nerf guns to see who can get the job done quicker or we bring you content about built flying fpv drones a new hobby that i've gotten into through phil sharing it in fact phil actually built this one and i thought about making a video about it and i went you know what the last one we did nobody seemed to really care about because what we're seeing here is this this hypocritical two-sided coin with with many viewers right now and that is don't make content about stuff we can't buy or don't make content about computers because we can't finish our builds so i make content about something else you go i don't want to watch that that's not about computers so my question to you is what do you want us to do what would you have us do there is a lot of things that we can make video videos about but you got to understand that we still have bills to pay around here we still have employees to pay insurances overhead all sorts of stuff this is a legitimate corporation that has all of the responsibilities as a big company but as a small company so obviously this is a pc building centric channel and that is what i'm going to focus on and i understand that you guys are frustrated with brands like nvidia that come off as extremely tone deaf i am right there with you i am i i have shot so many angry videos towards nvidia and those always seem to get a lot of views but i'm not going to shoot a video that's designed to create drama or talk about drama or just be mad about it because of the sake of views and i understand there's channels out there that are very salty and they like to make little skits and stuff just showing how angry they are and that's fine and that's entertaining but i'm not going to build myself as one of those people that you can come and watch rants and raves and and flailing and getting all mad about something that right now we have absolutely no control over i am with you 100 when i say that these companies are tone deaf that intel has stopped caring years ago and they don't care about the consumer and it's pretty obvious in the products that they put out and the the updates that they come out with and i'm 100 with you guys when i say amd is one of those companies that right now people should probably try and model themselves after which was a sinking ship that uprighted itself and turned into the freaking behemoth that it is today behemoth behemoth that it is today and is just showing everyone how it's done how to be consumer-centric unfortunately they follow under the they fall under the same issues of availability because of tsmc backup and wafer shortages which means even if i show amd builds people get all mad about it i'm also right there with you that nvidia is all about the cash grab nvidia is just the fact that they came out with a 3080 ti at this time right now just seems like an absolute cash grab and and it sucks it really does don't expect things to get better this entire 30 series family the 30 series is a write-off it's not going to get better prices are not going to come back to normal and it sucks i'm right there with you on that but how many times do you guys want me to say it how many times do i make a video calling it out we all know this but it's also my job as a content creator specifically regarding in pc hardware and reviews that when something new does come out we talk about it but i can't sit here and constantly deal with the the hate that keeps coming our way because people want to peg us us some sort of you know spoiled youtube channel that just doesn't have to work for anything which couldn't be further from the truth i i guarantee i put more effort into this channel in the last nine years than than i have in anything in my life including my i.t career and i love what i do but what i don't love is having to constantly go through so many salty comments to try and figure out the kind of content you want us to create so what i'm going to be doing moving forward is i'm going to continue the giveaways that we've been doing because one of the things that really sucks is to see so much hate coming our way is the fact that we're continually continuously procuring stuff that is very high dollar very impossible to get your hands on so that someone out there worldwide can have a chance to have something i am not linus tech tips where i can get pallets of graphics card sent to me that i can sell you guys for msrp nor am i set up to even be able to handle that nor do we even have the manpower to do that i've had so many people suggest that i do it because they want another opportunity to potentially be able to buy something which to me also comes off as extremely greedy demanding that we do something so it benefits you is probably the most selfish thing i've ever heard of but we're going to continue to do the giveaways while the shortages are are continuing because i i feel like that's my way of giving back i mean the giveaway that we're hosting right now would probably run more than 5 000 in terms of current pricing to be able to recreate maybe even higher specifically since the fact that we're giving away an rtx 3090. a brand new one that i could have stuck on my shelf if i wanted of deciding to give away to somebody i also i'm tired of hearing people complain about the fact that you know worldwide giveaways yes i'm doing worldwide giveaways stuff like this i would normally keep in the united states for various reasons when it comes to taxes and just shipping costs i spent over 350 to ship that rtx 2080 that we give away last time to the winner in the uk i spent 350 to ship that thing yes it's worth more than that but how many of you guys are willing to ship something for 350 bucks i don't like doing it i'd rather rather put 350 bucks in the pockets of one of my employees or something rather than having to just give it to the shipping company to send that off but i'm also all about fairness in that people that live in other parts of the world should also have the opportunities to win this stuff after all this channel has viewers all over the world most of them are here in the united states but the channel is built on the the viewer and the viewer is worldwide that's why our giveaways are worldwide and i'll continue to do that even though i see so many salty comments uh regarding the giveaways themselves i will i will do that but it tells me what the state of affairs is like when you know even our giveaway video itself has significantly less views than we had in our last giveaway video it's like people don't even care about the opportunity of winning so this is where i need you guys to honestly tell me what do you want to see from us i want to do more build guides i want to do more case mods i want to do that the stuff that we normally do but i want to do it without seeing backlash because of something that we have no control over we have no control over the market we have no control over the tone deafness of intel and nvidia we have no control over these scalpers the way the retailers are jacking up pricing the way they're handling their lotteries and stuff to be able to buy this we have zero control over that and as much as you guys might think a youtuber with a few million followers going online and ranting is going to change anything it truly doesn't i've had conversations with so many of these companies i'm going to tell you right now they couldn't care less what someone like me has to say because they're raking in money and what we're saying is probably going to be in the getting in the way of raking in how much money that they can so obviously it's all about the almighty dollar my channel is all about the almighty viewer i want you guys to tell me what you want to see from us so anyway i just had to say that i've been staying off social media for the most part because i'm just sick of seeing it i've been staying out of comments because i'm really sick of seeing it i'm hugely thankful for the die hards that are here every single video you guys know who you are you see an upload you guys watch it it doesn't matter what it's about whether it's about a drone or it's about some stupid vlog or it's about some stupid experiment we're doing or a build guide or something you even already know like how to build a computer or an install a cpu or a graphics card you guys are there regardless and you guys are the ones that we are truly grateful for because you guys keep the foundation of the channel alive and you allow us to be able to do what we do and what we love doing so what do you guys want to
