Snow Storm Pile Up Shuts Down the Interstate. Loaded, Leaning, and Frozen In.

[Music] hello ladies and gentlemen and as always thank you for watching tonight we have kind of a unique situation we had a snow and ice storm move through south of us the interstate is completely shut down all the way to the arkansas line they're calling every heavy record company in the area to get down there just help clear up all the mess uh we've got me and the rotator the western star and the traffic control truck headed down uh don't know about injuries as always we ask for prayers good thoughts well wishes right now we just need to get down here and help start getting this cleaned up kevin knows what we're gonna find yeah because this looks like ice drop axle up not yet i'll wait till we get further well they're not even those trucks aren't even man this looks like it's not guys why i'm slow way down we are officially in chicago the southbound shut down here oh my gosh look at all the trucks parked everywhere over there they're just stacked i don't think anybody can go anywhere i mean this whole junction is shut off yeah yeah they've got this is the 55 55-57 split and they've got 55 south shut down all the way to the uh arkansas line and then they've got well you can see the barricades there they've got uh the ramp there going south so people can't come off of 57 and get on 55 south here they've got that ramp barricade off and then it looks like they're they'll travel into the median right there you can see yeah i'm sure there's all kind of stuff everywhere here that's blocking trap that guy's blocking traffic from getting on this ramp it must have got hit a whole lot harder than we did this it looks like ice but i can't tell i'm not gonna test i'm not gonna push it nope and if that if it is ice underneath that's probably what happened oh we got going on here we're going to stop and talk to this officer i don't know if it's true it could be anybody out here at this point uh that's a well that's a tow truck on the right and a police vehicle on the left i'm not sure what we've got going on just come over here and see a 25 ton looks like it's got willing it does wheel grids that's what they use for towing all their stuff which is fine i wish we had them those are the euro wheel grids those are cool i think they look hardly they they're super easy but if you've got one with flat tires or something they don't work that's different so this is all closed through here until we get down to around the 50 which is roughly new battery okay so our first one appears like it's going to be quite the challenge uh lieutenant with the highway patrol we just stopped and talked with him and the tires are off the ground on this truck and it's loaded leaning uh said they were gonna need two trucks so we happen to have two heavies with us we'll get out and see what's going on here oh yeah she's leaning all right yep and the tires are off the ground okay see what we got grab my jacket for me can you hand me my jacket please this is just ice [Applause] wonder if there's a driver in it ah it's quite a ways from rolling over but it ain't good you okay sir all right troop called us to come try to get you out of here how heavy are you loaded 37 37 in the box okay all right i'm gonna take a look around see what we got oh my goodness yeah it's down in the dirt too looks like we got a lego on the ground for the trailer holy cow 37 000 in the box yeah no kidding oh yeah it's loaded that's what that's what troops said goodness gracious goodness and look his he's froze down in there uh yes sir so how bad's this one gonna be it's gonna be pretty bad unfortunately what do you need sir no i was just checking so they're hooking up to that one right now okay they're working on this trailer they already got the truck out here they've already pulled one more down to the thing they're gonna they just got it off the road they're gonna pull that one out okay this is the last one the southbound okay that we are working on the trailer we're working on that one and that one they're working on on the southbound side the one up there they're gonna grab on their way through okay but northbound i'm not sure they only had one truck on the northbound side so it depends on how long this takes that's what we'll have there most of those are slide offs okay so hopefully we uh we'll have those cleared up but we may not right because you can see what we're looking at oh yeah and then as soon as we open this up we got that same thing coming south great so i don't know it's going to be a long night okay anyway so i'll start getting some of our rigging set you said they're getting ready to move yeah that yellow one they're getting ready to pull on through yeah let's let them go ahead and get through the tire is going to be coming through as well so i'll go find out how long that one's going to be too they said about 15 minutes or less on the yellow one that's fine no problem we'll find out how long on that one with the flat tires or the bus we're going to end up having to strap this one to keep it from rolling uh it's going to be a hard pull okay we'll we'll get it but it's going to be hard rough guess what on time frame by the time we rig it and this ice on the road sucks yeah i'm guessing maybe 45 minutes to an hour all right not too bad well i i hope not i i hope not that's just a guess because this will be the last thing that will open up mo.74 trucks now and start getting this road ready for us okay but they can go by for the most part so my biggest problem is going to be sitting still on this ice uh that and taking the lean out of this you know i'm gonna have to help get the lean out of it while pulling it forward at the same time either that or just drag its butt sideways you know uh that may be what i end up doing partially once they once they get past you know yeah uh he said about 15 minutes on the yellow and i'll go find out how long on the battlefield no problems um you should be able to get by this one hopefully they'll have that one done at the same time that trailer will be good to go okay all right until the next one okay yes sir all right where's where's the crew all right guys we're gonna wait on the other crew to get through here i've got an idea of what i'd like to do y'all tell me what you think this is this is crunch time on the road test time we've got they're going to keep it shut down until we're done but they said this is the most difficult one they've got right now everything else has been cleared out for now unless they have more in this backup coming north because they've got them backed up i think we're going to have to strap it i think we're going to have to strap it strap the back and then i i think we're gonna have to strap the back i don't know if we're gonna be able to slide it up yeah or if i'm just gonna have to walk with it while you try to pull it that that's that's where i'm i'm questioning do we do we strap it and have you grab a hold of the tandems and try to or the drives and try to pull the side up and then work on the nose get the trailer up on the road where it's not leaning or at least closer and then worry about the truck nose is that right because your trailer is stuck the trailers trailer is what's leaning if we can that's my thought is if we can get the trailer rolled and slid over struggle [Music] well and well even if we can get the truck if kenny can get the truck slid over side pool side well no you're gonna have to get so we're going to shut the interstate down we're going to have we've got the interstate once this other record gets past us we've got the interstate all right watch yourself it may have pulled out on its own i don't know but it's easier to do with this truck the green one i want to be able to double it back i'm going to park sideways as much sideways as i can get i'd stop there yeah that's why i said we better stop there i want to double this one back yeah and it'll go when we get get there we'll have a snatch block in line uh and it'll go low i'm not sure if it'll go down to here or here yet i just don't know yet first i'm gonna have to get that strap over get a uh get another snatch block there should be one right there that blue one and put it in this line and for now here now it goes in that line right there we got something else right they're supposed to be ours what the road yeah oh man kenny's already set up come on through bud we'll let you through uh we'll fold down to reach up and you can sneak in between us right there all right all right you good yes sir because once we get set up we're going to be a while you've had you've had a long enough day as it is yeah no kidding just sneak right in between the front of mine and the back of that uh white and hopefully i can be the boom will be about midways of the trailer trailer i hope that way i can provide a a a side lift and a slide yep that's got room for a little bit then we've got got room to room to play with it okay all right i'm just gonna move forward enough to where i can boom out and stretch that line over somebody run up and help kenny drag those cables please tell me when i can reach it and hopefully manipulate the boom so i can grab the strap and nobody has to try to fight over fight it over that's my hope anyway as long as it doesn't get caught on anything in the process all right want to we want to oh down goes eli uh i guess stay on that subframe rail that way we're pulling sideways with the back of the trailer you know what i'm talking about mike does frame so okay hey mike yeah just just over the top of that uh subprint you can go here go behind it hey mike go might go behind the uh go behind the axles please yes sir what'd you decide you're going to try to pull it up you're going to pull it as you go both we're going to pull the trailer go try to get the back end of the trailer up here on the road as much as possible and then he's going to pull the front of the trailer and hopefully sideways and forward a little bit at the same time main thing is getting this thing leveled out uh i'm going to strap it and use the rotator on the back end and if we can get this trailer leveled out we'll be in a lot better shape then we can reposition if we have to thank thankfully we've got the whole road to work with for now so right now and modot's on the way down um they've already ran one truck through yeah we got four of them coming down but they're coming from the 66 slow so it's going to take them a while that's fine that'll be long enough for you ron i wasn't thinking how you wanting to hook it up probably a little longer don't yeah yeah we don't want the cable running out on it all right well i'm gonna give an update i'll be sitting my car right up we did the other day we didn't get a chance to wash it out yet up this isn't gonna work real well with my boom being uh saw uh sideways and my me trying to reposition my truck i didn't think of that well hopefully we can get it uh if we can get it strapped and then yeah yeah exactly i might put some uh outriggers down here give me just a second all right do you have it hooked in over there mike okay okay we're not yeah we're not going to worry about that part as long as i can get it over the top to where we can reach it then i can reposition and grab a hold of it the way i need to i'm gonna we may have been able to use the 20 but just yup yup there we go i mean i could risk lifting it but i really don't want to there's too much risk involved in that yeah you have to really be careful with this strap and that 26 isn't gonna gonna be we're not gonna be able to disconnect it but i might be able to pre-spool it and reposition anyway all right that looks better that's better much up that way i can reposition as needed and i'm not going to take my strap too much out of position i don't think that it's free spool oh yes okay outriggers now i'm gonna reposition kenny i'm gonna try to get up as close as i can to you and then so that i so that i can pull this way and pull the back end sideways that's my plan anyway all right guys uh can we get that tied in that way as i'm pulling forward well i have to watch it as we pull forward but go ahead and get her hooked in please yeah i get the blue cable hooked into the chain there yeah green green cable i'm not used to using the green cable we usually don't like coming out no usually it doesn't but no it's a design flaw eli on that okay it'll have to well well may have to come further back i don't know let me get repositioned here mike yeah you know where i need to be are you know you know yeah i might have to get a good angle on it [Music] yes i'm trying to get trying to get as close with the star as i can obviously i'm longer so i'm not going to be able to get the same angle as he is [Music] i know that's that's all i got right there that way i'm pulling straight off the back okay now what i need guys i need my oak timbers on and uh kenny you need yours too oak timbers blocking your your truck in between the tannins my tires okay you don't want that not on this pavement because the the metal cleats will just dig in what you want to do is take those long oak blocks and lay them in between your tandems sit sit in the western car for now yeah yeah we want we want these long blocks all right eli the idea of this is so that as it pulls backwards see how that tire is trying to climb the block and it's pushing in on that block lock them up the lock lock them up all right i need another long one if we got one yes i need another one if you got it please now that chain [Music] pull that pin loose so we can uh extend that outrigger i just want to build a platform with it that should be whoa whoa don't go any further and do i have enough room to fully deploy on the outside the other side driver's side with my front outriggers do i have enough room hold on i got to get the back ones down first come on baby i don't want to put i don't want to put a lot of weight on it all right here we go that way if we get it coming forward i can still hold the trailer up and rotate around as kenny pulls the finishes pulling the truck out that's the idea anyway watch mine you don't all right okay i'm not gonna plant it all the way down just yet uh i think we're going to have to reposition that chain further back which is what i thought initially because it's going to pull on the tires and it's going to slide under the tires and let well we might be able to get it up over them i don't know you can try if we can get them up over it it'd be all right [Music] all right you ready i'm gonna i'm gonna now we're gonna have to watch the top of that trailer real close so we don't crush it yeah we don't want to crush it all we want to do is uh no the strap is simply for stabilization it helps keep the trailer from rolling the lower ones are going to do the sliding yeah that's what that strap is there for to help now typically we put the aluminum all right are we good are we starting to strap okay kenny are you snug kenny are you sn don't don't pull yet just snug it up okay hold on let me get let me get my green winch coming in yes sir all right how's it going oh well hopefully uh it's gonna start coming our way i feel like you all are gonna have to stay staged or something because uh modot brake is set okay all right does he have his brakes released have him release his brakes that way it okay might get up there and see if we can get up in the truck release the brakes and see if it will roll forward we may have to reset a time or two but if we can keep it leveled out and rolled forward and start pulling towards us we got her we got her whooped trunk and trailer brakes released yes and if as long as long as we can pull the whole thing forward and sideways i've already pulled it some or we have together is the truck running mike okay release brakes shut your door there you go all right everybody stand back okay kenny you stop let me let me do my thing back here all right now you give it a little bit give it a little tug kenny trailer doesn't act like it's wanting to roll no i'm not i'm trying with the drag but it's pulling me backwards i'm coming back i really don't want to have to lift this thing okay get in there and stomp on the foot brake hold on mike hold on mikey okay just stay where you're at for a minute i'm repositioning my boom trying to get a little bit lower pick on it hopefully that puts the weight down on me i may have to raise those rear outriggers holding on to it now at some point we're going to have to let go uh with my drag winch because i'm going to start pulling forward into it but right now i cannot let go i can follow it around with the boom though so you're gonna have to provide all of the forward movement with it kenny yeah as long as as long as he's there helping it we're in good shape if not i've got some we're in good shape this point if i had a little bit more room i could bring the trailer up onto the road but i can't let go right now i want to basically be in front of him as much as i can well you you may not be able to get a whole lot you don't you want to take small bites on it otherwise you're going to lose your angle if here you want you want to be at the same angle you're at now because we want that front end to come up right at this angle you want to be you want to move that foot or that truck right over here you want it as far forward there as you can get so that you can pull the truck at a slow angle and then hopefully we can help with those drive tires thank you thank you very much he's gonna have to yeah he'll have to come back first let him position it he knows what he's doing well i hope come low pull and then hopefully slide this thing sideways all right now get you a uh no no no don't drag it over the bed here get you get you a d-ring or clevis and put it here put it in the end of that here eli listen to me put it in this hole right here get get a clevis out of there a d-ring one of the big ones there you go put it right here put it in that hole while i get the blue line down i'm good okay grab that hook got it yep okay now it's going to go through that snatch block down to that outrigger the snatch black will be hooked to the outrigger and then the hook itself will be attached to that chain where we just took the drag winch loose stance block is just for a redirect that's all it is boy that drag came in handy there me too but we darn sure needed it it saved our
