[Music] uh hey welcome to my channel so today we are going to be doing a tri-tip this is a delicious cut of meat it's very much like a steak it is kind of on a small side so we have to make several of them for to feed the whole family here um but we tear this up i actually just made this on sunday or saturday one of the two and i liked it so much that i just had to have it again so tune in for the rest of the video to see camp dog so tune in to see how we got to this finished product our first step is going to be to season the tri-tips before we get them on the grill so this is a very basic seasoning this is pretty much texas style so this is just going to be salt equal parts salt pepper and then garlic powder so we'll just go ahead and we've got about uh a tablespoon each in here so that's gonna cover these three that are about two pounds a piece that should be plenty so i'll just go ahead and coat one side of all of them here since i've got them all right in front of me all right i'll just flip them over get this other side all right so now these are ready to go on the smoker so i'm gonna head out check on the smoker and then we'll all see you out there when we're at temperature all right so we are now at 225 on the smoker so we're gonna go ahead and get these on there and i've got the temperature gauge in this middle one here so i use it to kind of monitor the temperature now we've got this set at 225 degrees we are going to smoke this for about two and a half hours at the same temperature and then once they reach the proper temperature we'll come back out and i'll sear them i'll open up the the firebox here and i'll sear them to give that a good look on the outside so we'll be back here in a couple of hours to show you the next step okay so our internal temperature is about 135 we are going to now sear this so i've got a pan that i use for grilling that is in there that has been heating up for a little while so i'm just going to move the steak or the tri-tip tip onto that one at a time and i'm going to sear it and get butter and some rosemary in there now i'm just gonna i'm gonna scoop this melted butter onto the top here as this is cooking i love butter on my food probably why i'm so big now this part is good i think for the the butter and soak it in a little bit but i don't get the sear that i want typically it's doing a little bit but it's not quite as much so i'm going to flip it let it soak in here a little bit more then i'm going to put it directly on the grate with this on high all right so now i'm just going to go ahead and put these on the brake directly so i can get the sizzle on the sear that i want a little bit of a sear on there that's what i want go ahead and lift this other one up here there we go and then this one check on this one it's got a good little sear to it i'm just gonna set it up there to keep it warm that one looks pretty good as well flip it over that one's got a little sear to it so i'm gonna flip it over [Music] all right you can see the little sear marks on that perfect all right there we go they're my satisfaction grab our pan take them off of here we'll get them inside and we'll let them rest okay so these have been resting now for a few minutes and we are ready to start slicing them as you can see they look juicy i can see the sear marks on them they smell amazing i wish you could smell this because these just i just want to pick them up and just take a big bite out of them so i'm going to go ahead and start slicing i'm going to start by just slicing the tip off of here slicing very easily you see it's got a good color to it it's cooked to about a a medium not quite medium well but medium all right so while i've got that all sliced enough i'm going to go ahead and give this a try juicy enough making a mess so full of flavor it's very juicy it is delicious this is gotta be one of my favorite cuts of meat i absolutely love it all right well i'm gonna finish cutting these off screen and i'm gonna need a good chunk of this just by myself i may not even share with the family we'll see how it goes they can beg for scraps when i'm done so be sure to go out and watch some of my other videos like and subscribe thanks for watching [Music] you
