hey how's it going guys it's Nate here and Skyrim as well as the entire universe of the Elder Scrolls in which it exists is a massive place one with thousands of years of history hundreds of characters and dozens of interweaving narratives and in such a vast medieval parody not everything will always make total sense and indeed any Skyrim playthrough will expose the dovakin to a variety of unexplained events and weird happenings yes the Elder Scrolls 5 can at times feel like it's raising more questions than it's bringing answers but I'd be a liar if I said that most of these questions aren't a blast to explore so today we'll be taking a look at five more mysteries concerning the elderscrolls v skyrim part 15 starting off we have the curious case of the augur of dun Lane so midway through the college of winterhold quest line professors will reveal to the player a sort of dark secret about the institution evidently sometime before your arrival though exactly how long is unknown something horrifying happened to a student you see there was an especially gifted breton male student studying at the college he was renowned for his skills and restoration and conjuration magic and many expected him to become among the most powerful mages in all of Tamriel however something went wrong the Breton man was allegedly in the middle of some kind of experiment when he took it too far and suddenly he lost his physical form his soul was stripped of his body and infused with various magical energies around the college the breton didn't die but he transcended into something else something we still don't understand to this day now he's represented by a strange ball of glowing Magica residents of the college aware of his existence refer to him as the augur of dun Lane and he can be found deep beneath the campus in a series of subterranean tunnels known as the midden the augers read as this abnormal glowing essence seems to have also resulted in him gaining an enormous amount of intelligence to the point where in the auger can almost see into the future at the climax of winter olds questline will be sent to seek out Don Lane and ask him about the eye of Magnus a weird glowing ball that an expedition recently discovered and brought back from an old Nordic ruin the auger reveals some pretty critical information however beyond that single conversation we have with him never again do we get to interact with Don Lane nor do we ever even get a chance to see him again that's the end of his significance in the story he pops up tells us some stuff and disappears so now the question is what exactly happened here how did some kid get infused with magic why does he know so much and what else could he tell us well as you probably can figure by its mention in a video like this we don't know the game never answers these questions it's really weird that there's this sort of omniscient semi existential being that just kind of chills beneath winter hold and we only see him like once you would think he would occupy such a larger role in the narrative some have suggested that perhaps the augur was intended to play a bigger part back when the story was still being written but plot lines involving him that could perhaps explain away his condition were removed at the last minute others proposed that maybe the augur of done lanes transformation has something to do with the great collapse a massive event that caused the destruction of much of the city of Winterhold though notably not the college whatever the augurs tale only it knows and he won't tell next on our list what happened to an odious Pappas who's after him and why so one of the Dark Brotherhood's earliest potential side contracts you can choose to take up will send you after an imperial named an odious Pappy as' who will be residing somewhere in the pale according to Nazir an odious used to work at Angas mill as a miller but recently something happened the man kind of snapped and just went nuts he abandoned his relatively stable job and flood into the hills now he lives as a paranoid recluse at a small campsite worried toils and constant fear of assassination and judging by the fact that the Dark Brotherhood is pursuing him I suppose those concerns aren't totally unwarranted well we don't get to do much talking with the man himself and when we do speak with him he sounds totally broken stuttering quivering and even speaking in the third person although mr. patias does admit briefly that he specifically scared of a Dark Brotherhood assassin so he seems aware that it's no ordinary swords for higher pursuing him now one must ask why what did an odious do to make someone so mad they would perform the black sacrament furthermore how does he already know that he's being pursued did he maybe make a mistake at his job and was directly told by his boss I'm sending the Dark Brotherhood after you maybe he a grated an old family friend who he knows his connections to the guild whatever the case Wow very well warranted and notices paranoia is unique and makes us wonder what exactly happened to cause our paths to cross coming in at number three who's killing people in fall grief okay that's a little bit of a blunt way to start this topic let me explain a little more within the fall truth hold players can find a number of human corpses particularly around three or four that are a bit different than all of the others while dead bodies are by no means a rare sight in a place like Skyrim I mean you've got bandits of pillagin and wildlife a-huntin what makes these ones stand out are the conditions in which we find them most of these bodies will have their valuable loot including gold still in their inventories intact suggesting they weren't killed by common Marauders and most of them won't be surrounded by too much blood also implying that they warn victims of normal animal attacks so what's going on here okay well admittedly this dead elf by a shrine is quite a bit bloody but you get the idea what about the others why aren't there very obvious signs of the struggle well well some have suggested there's nothing particularly out of the ordinary happening here all these corpses are purely coincidental maybe people are just dying of heart attacks or there are weird Antron ox getting after them or something others have implied that maybe there is indeed a connection you see also within the Falk wreath hold is a place known as Halfmoon mill a small well lumber mill that's notably owned by two vampires Hearn and his wife hurt these vampires are always passive towards the player as in they will never inflict harm upon you but it's obvious that they very much enjoy eating people as a look in their small butcher Shack will reveal what could these two lovebirds possibly be the culprits behind the recent murders they would explain the dead bodies not being looted they have no interest in material items merely their victims blood and it might also explain why they've been rather clean with some of their kills I mean they would just be biting your neck right there is also of course a very large bandit tribe hiding beneath Pine wash in the caves however they'd probably be looting right what's going on here be it a serial killer a couple of vampires or random acts of the Divine's we may never know but maybe we don't want to either for 4th spot we have a mystery that's not necessarily as relevant to Skyrim as it is to the entire Elder Scrolls universe as a whole but what happened to yo kuda so long ago many thousands of years prior to the events of the Elder Scrolls 5 there was once a mysterious continent west of Tamriel known as yo kuda or at least we think it was a continent it may have also been just a really big island or chain of islands whatever the case there was some massive land west of Tamriel called yo kuda at some point in time it was here a race of men we now call Red Guards emerged while most humans were already settled in on Tamriel the Nords had conquered Skyrim Imperial sub races were popping up at sir Adele etc etc the Red Guards remained on Youku de all the way up until around the Year 792 of the first era when the continent mysteriously just kind of vanishes at least that's what the histories tell us the continent quote-unquote sunk into the seas this event is what prompted the places large population of Red Guards to sail west eventually landing in and conquering modern-day Hammerfell as their new home but to this very day we still have no idea what caused Okuda to go missing the third edition of the pocket guide to the empire contains a bit of text on you Cudas disappearance and proposes two theories it states that tremors and earthquakes were rather normal affairs in the region and suggests that Yokota's sinking was simply the results of some rather harsh quakes and tsunamis it also mentions that right around the time yoku de vanished a small band of renegade yoku teens known as the anti who were said to be masters of something called a stone magic had just lost a civil war and perhaps they had quote-unquote taken their revenge on the land whatever that means likely implying that they are somehow responsible for the disappearance however you khuddam edit spontaneous Eraser is unknown but that question is likely to excite and baffle the minds of Tamriel's greatest scholars for many centuries to come and finally last on our list what does Etta have against grelod okay so let me provide some backstory to this one ghrelin de kind is the infamous headmistress of rifton's honor all orphanage she's known for running the place with an abusive and totalitarian iron fist issuing incredibly over-the-top punishments to her children for the tiniest of reasons and heck sometimes without any reason at all according to Grell ads assistant constance mitchell the people of Rifton are aware of her cruelty and call her the kind out of sarcasm and irony she'll be the players first-ever contract as a part of the dark brotherhood quest line before you've even known you've begun said quest line now let me introduce you to Edda she's a baker who hangs out in rifton's marketplace and sleeps in the city sewers at night Etta's implied to be quite mentally unstable but overall doesn't seem too much different from your typical Skyrim beggar however something strange about EDA is that for whatever reason she set as hostile towards grelod the kind wait what she doesn't exhibit any hostility towards any other NPCs in the game besides rifton's usual enemies it's just towards ghrelin and Grell it's not hated by anyone else either it's just Etta who wants to kill her now generally this dynamic doesn't mean all that much gremlin absolutely never leaves the orphanage and Etta never enters it as such their paths never cross and normally this hostility goes entirely unnoticed but if you're able to scare grelod out of the orphanage either by using a fear or mayhem spell then you might witness Etta get up from her sitting spot and attempt to murder her to death various theories exist that might explain away this phenomenon simple explanations like maybe someone at Bethesda just pressed the wrong button and accidentally made Etta hey Kremlin have been floated but others propose it's something deeper perhaps Etta was once a child at on her whole orphanage herself long ago Brenna is a pretty old lady it's entirely possible that maybe Etta was one of her kids back in the day having never been adopted maybe once she became an adult and it was just thrown out on the street that would explain her poor conditions and why she hates ghrelin so much it's also possible that maybe Etta had one of her kids taken away and sent to honor whole orphanage and presents grelod fir'd the way she's been treating her child whether it's the result of a simple mistake by the developers or symbolic of a far deeper more nefarious relationship Etta's hatred of Grell of the kind is something we may never fully understand though it is surely something we can empathize with and with that we are going to wrap up another five of the greatest mysteries concerning the
