Wow, this was brilliant. I loved Signs before, but this made me appreciate it in a completely new way. So much subtlety I hadn't noticed before.
M. Night was born for this movie. He should take a break from filmmaking for a bit and get his creative juices flowing.
Upvote for anything Chris stuckmann.
Interesting explanations, but some are downright dumb.
Its possible these aliens have never seen water before??? If you have interstellar flight capability, I'm guessing you've seen combustion of hydrogen in your basic alien high school chemistry lab.
I'm willing to bet they have sensors that can detect it, seeing as its highly dangerous to them. Kind of like radiation to us. And to not recognize "that blue stuff" while flying overhead? Yeah, thats pretty dumb.
Caring about the water plot element is a mistake if you ask me. I think it's a great horror movie that focuses on an interesting family dynamic. The details aren't the 'point', IMHO. But yeah, I nitpick other movies so, I get it.
