hey everybody and welcome back look at this hair baby today is going down this is rachel and she is somebody who got in my dms on instagram and you know shot her shot and i was like come on then girl so this is what we had to do okay look at so much hair so many strands it's just just so much hair you know and it's just very full and you know i love it so what she's going through is that where she lives she lives in massachusetts and she says that where she lives the water is very hard now i'm not sure if you are familiar with soft or hard water but hard water is water that has a high mineral content so because hard water contains a buildup of minerals such as calcium magnesium and heavy sulfates this produces a film on the hair making it difficult for moisture to penetrate through the strands so as a result her hair is left super dry and more prone to breakage and the fact that she has color on her ends doesn't help because that's the driest part because her hair was already stripped when the color was put on so as you see her color is growing out but she is just you know struggling with her ends being super dry and brittle and she just wants them to be right so right here i'm just taking my time separating the first section because you know since she has so much hair and not that it matters if you have a lot of hair or not but her hair is pretty tangly after the shampoo but not a terrible level of tangle because you know sometimes it can get real gangster so i'm just going to do like i always do and i'm going to go in and i'm going to comb her hair very gently from root well from into root make sure you always start at the ends and work your way up because if you start at the roots it's going to be harder to detangle and you want to make sure that you are being gentle and taking your time no matter what [Music] [Music] [Music] just a reminder before you blow dry your hair or put any type of heat to your hair always use a heat protectant you always want to make sure that you are using a heat protectant that is creating a barrier between your hair and the high temperatures because if not you will mess with the integrity of your natural curl and if you are trying to rock that curl pattern or keep your hair in its healthy estate you do not want to compromise that curl pattern so just always make sure to use a heat protectant y'all know i'm using my favorite blow dryer the ceramic read by kiss i know it's been sold out a lot on amazon i'm gonna check and see if it's back up there because if it is just check the box below and see if i was able to put a link there if not that means that it's still sold out um so yeah that's the best i can do when it comes to this blow dryer but i'm also using my denman brush and i'll also add a link for that below [Music] [Music] [Music] so [Music] nice so i'm just want you to check out this shine so i'm blow drying her hair pretty straight today not that i don't usually do that especially when i'm about to do a silk press but i'm blow drying this straight because today she is going to get wanded and the thing about wands is that you know because you can't put the hair in between two plates and press it first you want to always make sure that you get the hair as straight as possible because a lot of people have to press the hair first and then one curl at me i don't want to do anything like that so between the quality of the tool that i'm going to use in the blow dryer we should be able to achieve wine curls without pressing it first and doing a double process to because to me that's just like using two passes on a flat iron so we're gonna see [Music] [Music] so [Music] [Music] nice okay it's coming out well look at all this hair that's like that's more hair than i have on my whole head just in this section of her head oh my goodness but the shine is there it's nice and strong and it feels good it also is soft but at the ends i definitely can feel what she's going through um with just that hard water making her hair brittle especially on the ends but for the most part it's very healthy now when we were talking about her hair she was just basically saying that you know she thought we were going to have to cut all the color off but when you really look at it that's about half of her hair so i know that we want to get all the damage off but she's one of the people that i feel like is a good candidate for gradually taking it off so because as you see the line is like pretty much by her shoulders if we were going to take all of the cutter color off and it would have been very very um heavy so i just figured we could just take about two inches off two or two inches or so and um i have my her strings of hair shears and and these ones right here i love these red sheers those these are actually her favorites as well so i was like let me use the chili ones today so i'm just going to get those ends off and give her a line [Music] i really believe that taking this amount off for now is gonna be good for her as you see i'm cutting it in the shape that it's growing but i believe that this is gonna be fine because her hair is in the worst state directly on the ends so i feel like we're taking off more than enough for now and if it continues to be dry and break then we'll just take more off next time now i'm just going in so the front can line up with the back so it can be a perfect cut so now you know next i'm just pulling the hair up and i am getting the hair that i couldn't reach by trimming the line and i'm just going to pull it out and i am going to get the rest of those dry ends off as you can see you could probably see them too how brittle they look even when i comb it with the thin tooth comb it just the comb just glides through her hair and then when it gets to the ends it stalls so a lot of times if you're combing your hair and you get to the ends and the comb stalls or just sounds really rough by the time it gets to your ends more than likely you need a trim because your ends are just ready for that um or they're dry so you always want to use a moisturizing shampoo and conditioner just to put some more nourishment in it and get your hair back on track because when it's dry it's never in a good space one of the first things i noticed when i moved to la is how hard the water was like my skin was getting super dry my hair it was taking a toll on my hair and you know i'm i'm assuming that the water is harder in california than it is in pennsylvania so depending on where you stay it'll let you know and you're going to have to take extra measures to make sure that your hair is moisturized so just look into that where you live and see if your water is harder so if they even have like tests you can buy a test on amazon to test your water so now i'm going in with my wands earlier i was telling you guys that you know i don't like to have to press the hair first i want to just go in with the wand and i want to curl it because i don't want to do a double heat so because of these ones i got from longlock's virgin hair they are so high quality that i am not pressing the hair first i'm going straight in with the wand and then i'm taking a duckbill clip and i am locking those curls in place while i finish the rest of the head so these are tsunami waivers i love this interchangeable set it's four different you can have four different um attachments to this wine and you can do crimps you can do bubble wands you can do regular ones and you can do like i call them chopstick wines or like straw set wines you know because i mean who doesn't want all of that in one tool so i've been using this ever since i got them i love them again this is not somebody who's paying me to tell you all this i just love them and i'm always here to just genuinely tell you guys what works for me not because somebody told me to tell you so i'm gonna put the link below so you can get these from long locks virgin hair dot com and again they are amazing [Music] this [Music] [Music] nice now again i'm just going to hit those roots first just to make them smooth and then i'm just going to wrap their hair around the wand and i'm going to hold it there for a few seconds then after i release it i'm gonna hold it in my hand and i am going to set that curl with a duckbill clip that's going to help those curls last a lot longer you can even wear your duckbill clips overnight if you're doing your hair at home or if you have your stylist doing it and you're going home afterwards like it's not a bad idea to just have those duckbill clips in overnight because then you'll really have your curls one thing i notice about wine curls is a lot of women love wearing these for their wedding they are just so regal they just have this rich look so i feel like a lot of women choose it for their wedding because of that and you know wines they can be really really big and fluffy or they can be kind of soft and flowy and flat but no matter how you slice it wines are always a good look [Music] do [Music] so here you're going to peep when i go put that wand on i grab the first section with my finger because i noticed that the less hair you put around the wand is easier to slide to the front to the tip of the line so i like to hold it in place sometimes because sometimes they just like to slide around and do what they want and you never want to run the risk of having to wander around this one twice so that's why i held it in please if you if you can't really use your finger tip because it's too hot and i used my nail and it didn't melt thank god thank god because who want to melt their nails while they doing hair like that is so goofy but now i'm just going to go in and i'm going to remove the duckbill clips now when removing the clips please be careful because the metal clips can randomly snag one hair and you know like i know nothing's worse than like one strand of hair getting caught up and getting pulled it hurts so bad it's almost like why does it hurt so bad you know like how a paper cut just seemed like it shouldn't hurt so bad but it does that's how it is when one strand of hair gets pulled so just be very gentle and careful when you are removing your duckbill clips because you don't want to snag any hair now look how good they already look the shine the luster they are just like full of air and full of body yep this is going to be a good one it's so bouncy too and that's from not putting too much product in the hair it's always a duck bill clip hiding if you use um pin curl clips there's always one hot and somewhere that never wants to leave so now i'm just going to shake it out and i'm also going to just wide to comb it just a little bit now sometimes all right let's just say this it's okay not to comb it if you want to just leave your curls in ringlets like that then that's fine me i like to separate mines just a little bit so that they can marry each other which means just you know mingle and just lay right i don't think that i wanted to i feel like when they're just separated like that it makes it look kind of childish so but it's okay it's your preference and childish is not necessarily a negative vibe i'm just saying you know it's giving shirley temple if they are just all loose also i said i'ma start showing y'all how to wrap these styles so with this style all you gonna have to do is pull it up in the top like that like a pineapple and just wrap your scarf around it and leave it baggy at the top don't tighten it at the top because you don't want to smush them you just want to leave it baggy so here we are her curls are done and every day her hair is either going to get bigger and bigger or they're going to get looser and longer it just depends on the person so it looks like she loves it i love it and i just want to thank you guys for watching and i'll see you next time
