[Music] i'm so happy tonight i i want to first start off by saying this if you missed sunday's sermon you missed an amazing impartation from our leader as he begin to deal with shame and i have dealt with that in my life when he was preaching it i came out on the post show and it was difficult for me to [Music] control myself he came out and he began to talk and i worked myself through it and april was able to save me on the front side but i thought about all the stuff that i've done in my life i should be done it should be over for me but god some kind of way opened up door after door after door after door after the door after door and now i work for one of the greatest communicators in the world the greatest communicator in the world and so i i am a living witness of what god's grace this mercy can do but i also know what it's like to sit up and hold myself hostage because of some of the things that i've done in my past he began to teach sunday he said god still wants you he said humanity is the distinction between the treasure and the vessel the second thing i wrote down that he says that we cannot deify humanity because we'll do things that look like god we'll lay hands on people they'll get healed powerful things can happen in the kingdom of god within the earth but yet was still human will have power over here and will struggle over there he made the statement thoroughly that i wrote down that holiness is right but humanity can often go wrong and we all go wrong and we just didn't go wrong in our adolescent years some of us would go wrong right now and lastly he asked the question to us he says what do you do [Music] when what you've done is true because you can rebuke a lie but what do you do with the truth when what you did affects more than you it affects your family he taught it in such a way that he made us understand that there's nothing wrong with being human and that it's okay to be normal and so tonight i wanted to continue with what my pastor was teaching tonight's message involves more humans adam and eve and i want to take a look at the origin of shame and where it came from i'm going to go to genesis chapter 2 verse 25 and then i'm going to read genesis chapter 3 7 through 10. in genesis chapter 2 25 it says and they were both naked the man and his wife and they were not ashamed chapter 3 verses 7 through 10 and the eyes of them both were open and they knew that they were naked they sold fig leaves together and made themselves aprons and they heard the voice of the lord god walking in the garden in the cool of the day and adam and his wife hid themselves from the presence of the lord god amongst the trees in the garden the lord called unto adam and said where are thou and he said i heard that voice in the garden and i was afraid i was naked and i hit myself tonight i want to continue with what our leader spoke and i wanted to tag tonight's lesson as shame off you there was a statement that you often hear when we were young shame on you for what you did it's a very common statement shame on you shame on you to make shame normal that you should feel a certain way am i to say that you're not supposed to feel a certain way that's not what i'm saying but the shame on you the pronouncement the announcement over your life but i wanted to teach it in reverse tonight because i want you to get rid of it i want you to feel what it's like to strip yourself of everybody's announcement over your life i want you to strip yourself of the things that you thought over your own self i want you to strip yourself of the announcements that you've made over your own life the feelings that you've placed on yourself because you believe that you shouldn't go any further because of what you've done that you've given yourself a life sentence you've given yourself a jail time and it is true man looks at the outward appearance so man will always look at what happened on the outside and you're going to have to focus on understanding that god does it that he looks at the heart and that is a constant struggle for me to understand that the god that i serve is looking at my heart but the people that i see are looking directly at me this particular book it's the origin of where shame comes from it's the beginning the book of the beginnings uh shame is found right here in the beginning of what's happening in this text they are experiencing the beginnings everything that is created was created for them god created and fashioned this unbelievable world water land birds creeping things crawling things all of this god creates he makes it so wonderfully then he looks down and then he scoops out of the dirt and out of the dirt he creates this man and he makes this man in his image and when he makes this man in his image this man has a form he has statue but he still doesn't have life and so what god does is so amazing he said god takes the time and he blows into the nostrils of the man and when he blows into the nostrils of the man the bible says the man comes alive he becomes a living soul so now you have this man that is sitting in this beautiful world that god has created especially for him god made everything for him he makes this entire place and then he plants them in this garden beautiful garden trees water they've got four rivers running through the water there's there's onyx stones there's gold everything is going through this water it's amazing the beauty of the garden and then god places the man inside of the garden it's a gift the garden is a complete gift for the man and then man is god's greatest treasure he places his treasure inside of this beautiful place and then he watches man be exactly who he called him to be the bible says that he made him in his likeness and in his image he's like god if god has a body he looks like man he looks like man he's wonderful he has a statute and then and then god uh is it's looking at him he says it's not good for this man to be alone and then he puts the man to sleep and then he pulls from his womb and he creates a woman so that he has compatibility suitability he's not the only thing that is there without a mate so he has this incredible world and while he's living in this incredible world this gift that was given to him by god the text tells us clearly that adam has a relationship with god so what does this do this shows us that he's walking in two dimensions he's walking with god and he's walking with man he's walking with the lord thy god he's hearing god he's thinking god he's talking to god he gets his language from god everything that he has he's not speaking english so he must be speaking in tongues i don't know what he's speaking in but we can say that he's speaking in the language of god and everything that he names it still named that today and he names this woman eve it's his it's his woman it's his it's his good thing and here they are god's greatest creation that god created everything for is dropped right down into the garden a precious gift that is given to this wonderful man god's greatest gift i know you have some of you have children and you have some kids to do everything right and when you have a kid that does everything right it makes you happy to give them the greatest gift that you can afford this is the relationship that god has with adam he's created him he's fashioned him he's handmade he's of his breath he's of his likeness and his image he looks like him if he got a body and then something happens the enemy comes into the garden has a conversation when he has this conversation this changes everything because while god is beginning a life for man satan is beginning a plan to trick man out of that life that's what satan does when god's planning this beautiful life for you because see satan can't create but what satan can do is torment the creation to make the creation forget the image and the likeness that it was fashioned in so because he cannot create he will torment everything that god creates so here he is and this plan is simply sin nothing strategic about it the enemy comes to le to kill steal and destroy simple those are the three he has the conversation with the lady the wife he's there and while he's having this conversation he simply tells her if you take this you will be like god it was a conversation that made disorder desirable that's what i'm trying to park right there there was a conversation that made disorder desirable eve now sees the tree that's in the middle as a desire instead of directions the truth be told some of us would rather just have instant deliverance instead of direction i get it because see deliverance is instant god did it god changed it but sometimes directions take time it takes detail it takes attention and it is a process to get you to destiny so because most of us want it now we don't ever get processed and so because we don't get processed we can't discern the enemy's subtlety the scripture says that he was the most subtle creature that god had created that the serpent was and so satan is conversing smartly educationally with this woman through scripture and fools her and he uses conversation to make disorder desirable i'm going to stay right there because i want you to think about all the conversations that you had that went too long i want you to think about all of the things that you discussed or you text or you facebooked or you instagrammed you dm'd or you held face to face that would have been fine had you shut that conversation down when you had the first feeling that it was shifting it doesn't she doesn't some of us deliverance simply means discretion i'll i'll do it so others don't see me i'll do it so people don't see me i'll do it behind closed doors i really don't want to be just completely delivered but i want to be delivered enough to look delivered are y'all still here with me so my first point that i'm going to give you tonight on this lesson that if we're going to get shame off of us the first thing you got to do is stop the action that's causing the shame this is your responsibility stop the action causing the shame this conversation led to compromise you got to stop the conversation you've got to stop getting in the car you've got to stop texting if that's what it takes for you to keep your sanity stop it but i get it it feels good i get it it's sensational but here's what i want to tell you i've been there if you don't stop it it'll stop you and it'll stop you when you least expect it same's not going to bother you while you're still making and 25 cents you can handle that but right when you're getting ready to get the promotion and they have to do something to check something and and you haven't fixed it because you have not paid any attention to it he comes in he meddles with the unfinished thing he meddles with the stuff that you ignore and he digs until the conversational the conversation turns to compromise it turns to compromise which causes you to be someone that is no longer a prospect for the future that you desire i hope i'm here with you tonight stop it before it stops you if you look at first corinthians 15 34 it says awake to righteousness and sin not for some have not the knowledge of god watch what paul says i speak this to your shame i'm speaking this to your shame if you don't awake to the righteousness of god glory to god i want to keep going here's what satan does satan will condemn you and if you don't have the knowledge of god then you will take the condemnation and think that when the spirit is convicting you it is god condemning you the spirit of god convicts convicts you to pull you to repentance but satan condemns you but the scripture says therefore there is no condemnation unto those who are in christ jesus glory to god so what i want you to do tonight is i want you to escape the traps of shame by believing right and if you're going to believe right you you can't allow your belief to be infiltrated by conversation that leads to compromise you won't stop the action you'll be you'll use discretion to keep the action which will you from going where you want to go but i'm talking to thousands of you right now that are saying i i have i have covered this stuff for a very long time and and i've done well with it covered some people don't even know what's there i've done a good job i've handicapped myself i've placed something there but that's not the life we're called to live you call to live free tonight and i'm telling you to pull off shame you don't even got to go in the closet to pull it off just stand right where you are and rip it off glory to god are you going to believe what the bible says you're going to believe what you've been saying to yourself are you going to believe what they say i don't know but you're going to have to survive the opinions of other people you're going to have to survive the opinions of yourself until you can awake to righteousness and understand that righteousness is not about you righteousness is about him once you do that what happens here's what's going to happen your spirit now is put in place to dominate oh my god i wish i had you in here with me right now i could have at least five or six thousand of you just shout out dominate so what i want you to do is type it out and i want you to type it on the line and say i'm going to dominate i want your spirit to start dominating your feelings i want your spirit to start dominating that shame you can awake to righteousness and your spirit man start dominating i wish i had a witness online somewhere somebody type that thing out right now i'm going to dominate the more your spirit dominates your body the stronger your spiritual walk will be okay let me tell you something your spirit can strike blows to your body i wish i had it with you know the bible talks about how we're quickened by the holy ghost a lot of people laugh at that but the spirit is powerful enough to strike a blow to your body and if you will get yourself awakened into the righteousness of god the spirit can strike a blow to your body and let your body know who's in charge i wish i had some spiritual people right now that would understand that when abram not abram but when adam and god walked together they had a spirit-to-spirit relationship that means that the soul and the body was submissive to the spirit and i believe that if we could just focus ourselves and awaken to the righteousness of god awaken to who god is and awaken to what god wants to do in our lives that our flesh and our soul can submit to the spirit the spirit is the part of you that's going to live for the rest of your life it is the spirit that is driving you to see you as a righteous man glory to god isaiah 57 says for the lord god will help me that's enough by itself for the lord god will help me the lord god will help you therefore i shall not be confounded therefore i have set my face like flint what is flint like stone it was a hard stone that they used to make well uh tools out of or weapons out of so he says the lord god will help me so you need to know you got help you're not doing this by yourself and then he says therefore i shall not be confounded therefore i have set my face like stone i know that i shall not be ashamed that's the tax i'm not going to be ashamed because i set myself on the truth that he's going to help me i'm not by myself i'm not doing this alone i've got god who's fashioned the earth that created me that's saying i'm going to help you so when you fall into the traps of shame you feel like he's left you and he's not he's still there i was asking myself earlier today and i told my wife i told my daughter i said you know why why you put the tree out there anyway god if you knew they were going to go ahead and bite the fruit why did you put it out there for what and this is what god said to me he said do my boundaries matter to you he said i want to give you the best and i want to be able to put my stuff by what i gave you but do you love me enough to leave mine alone and do what i ask you see the power of obedience is demonstrated in the face of opportunities to disobey [Music] that's the power of it the power of it is when everybody else says i'm going to you say i'm not the power of it is is that when you're by yourself and you could and nobody would know you still say i'm not because that's god's it's the same way without giving because that tree represents the tithe you can have everything but don't touch this y'all here with me so the power of obedience is demonstrated in the face of opportunities to disobey so then we have to ask the question what is shame what is it i'm going to give you 10 things that you can write down number one shame is a private feeling that something is wrong with us we feel like we're damaged like with damaged goods and if anyone really knew what you would like you feel like your circles of influence would shun you you know number two a part of the experience of shame is the fear of being found out and exposed so this is why we run and hide because we try to protect ourselves from the exposure of people's judgment number three shame is an attack on your self-identity your self-worth and your relationships number four shame pushes us into isolation because we feel exposed number five shame can be triggered listen to this by sinless memory memory issues of simple self-talk or you're listening to the voice in your head saying stuff like you're really blue at this time all you can do is remember the negative comments that you've made to yourself that's what shame does shame is a filling okay and because it's a feeling i need you to understand this it informs us that it's really not a part of the real you okay it's it's a feeling it's a feeling so it's really not a part of the real you what's the real you the real you is your spirit that's the part of you that's gonna live forever so if you can get your that's why i told you if you can get your spirit to dominate then your spirit will flush the effects of shame okay because it's not a part of your spirit it's not a part of what god blew into you it is a part of your soul well then we have to ask the question where does shame house itself it houses itself in your soul but what is your soul your soul is your mind your will your emotions and your imaginations listen to it the mind the wheel the emotions the imaginations that's why you think about it in your sleep that's why you daydream about it when you're trying to change change your thought process you go back to it it's all mental it's all psychological okay uh because it is a social emotion write this down it can easily become a soul if you let it fester soul ties aren't just with people okay soul ties can be with anything that fastens or attaches itself to the mind the will or the emotion so it's not the body that you're tied to you're tied to the thought of the body how the body makes you feel what what what what what you want to do when you're with the body and so this soul tie to shame you feel like you should be punished you feel like you're a mistake you feel like you should go to jail you feel like you should be punished repetitively and that you should not be rewarded and that you can get a raise but maybe not there maybe you can work but maybe not there because shame is housed and it becomes a stronghold okay uh last one i'll give you is shame came around after sin okay it came around after sin then what does that mean it is not a kingdom attribute it is not a kingdom benefit it came around after sin so if it's not a kingdom attribute you don't have to take it you don't have to keep it you don't have to possess it okay well i hear you i can hear you clearly i can hear you clearly well pastor weren't they guilty yes they were guilty it's in the text and i'll go to it it is in the text and when the woman saw that the tree was good for food and that it was pleasant to the eyes and the tree to be desired to make one wise she took the fruit thereof and did eat that's verse six and gave also to her husband with her and he did eat so they were guilty it's over they were guilty the only thing i can say about them is that they were guilty what are you guilty of what did you do the truth is we were all guilty when we were born we were born and shapened in iniquity you were born in sin you were guilty before you ever committed sin because sin came into world into the world by this first adam why am i saying all that because there's a difference between guilt and shame okay yes they were guilty but guilt is not shame so i'm gonna give you these number one guilt is feeling bad about what you do shame is feeling bad about who you are okay guilt says i made a mistake shame says i am a mistake see guilt is an awareness of failure or disobedience of a standard a law or code shame is this sense of failure before the people before the eyes of the people and how people are going to perceive me and then i begin to change how i perceive myself because of what i believe people perceive me as okay see when you're caught in shame you can easily become addicted to psychotic systems of accountability what does that mean you're trying to perform to feel good about yourself become psychotic you create your own accountability system so you can have a merit life i did this okay thank you i did this thank you to to to change how you feel about yourself and you don't embrace the truth of god's word enough so you have to have enough tasks to make you feel good about who you are and if you don't have a task then your mind your will imagination is controlling how you feel about you because you haven't awakened to righteousness yet and you haven't awakened to understand that it's not about how much good i could ever do that is not what saves me it's about what he did that makes me saved once i awaken to that then i'll understand that all have sinned and fallen short of the glory of god the last piece i'm going to give you uh is buried shame oh my god buried shame will drive your shameful behavior underground why am i talking about that cause remember in the text when the bible says that he called his name and the bible says that he wouldn't hid in the trees he wouldn't hid like a tree so that means you have to picture a body that was made to move a body that was created to not be like a tree you know we can say that metaphorically but metaphorically he's standing like a tree because he's hiding amongst the trees now god creates the tree god created him he knows the difference between them but psychologically he's wrapped up and warped with so much shame that he tries to plant himself like a tree and things are burying he buries himself a tree grows down before it grows up and so when you bury yourself in shame it becomes difficult for you to move it becomes difficult for you to go to the next level in your life because now you've dropped roots into something that you should get off of you that's why we have to get it off because if you don't get it off it grows down it'll go down and it'll create a root system that causes you to feed off of negativity and feed off of bad vibes and feed off of words and you incarcerate yourself because you've planted yourself in a place that you should not be in but i came on here tonight to tell you to get that shame off of you you've got the power you have an anointing you have the spirit of god rip it off glory to god now now i want to share this scripture with you that i believe that if you got any jesus in you this scripture is gonna make you shout hallelujah in the car in the house in the church i'm gonna tell you something this verse every time i read it it does something to my spirit first john 3 and 20 the new living translation says if we feel guilty god is greater than our feelings and he knows everything leave it right there if we feel guilty so god's telling you even if you feel guilty even if you feel shame even if you feel like you're wrong i am greater than your feelings i know everything oh my god even if you feel guilty i'm greater than your feelings i know everything oh my god glory hallelujah i just want you right there to just lift your hands just lift your hands because i believe i believe god wants to heal some of your minds when you heard that scripture because you've been carrying stuff you've been carrying guilt and shame and father i just want to take this moment and seize this opportunity to pray for my brother and my sister that is sitting right there now listening to this message and it's permeating their thoughts it's permeating their heart and they're trying to figure out why have i constantly rehearsed certain things in my mind and certain images that have been going on in my head i've played the movie over and over and over in my head to where it becomes normal for me to look at this stuff and i don't see myself any better than this but god we come tonight and we come to say that even if you feel guilty even if you feel horrible even if you feel disgusted even if you feel like you're all by yourself god sent me here tonight to tell you that he is greater than your feelings feelings of suicide suicide feelings of depression feelings of isolation feeling like you're not good enough feeling like you're all alone feeling like you should run away feeling like you're in your room pulling out your hair feelings like you've got nobody to go to feeling like you can't even be a child of god god says i know everything he says i know everything i know everything i know everything i know everything i know what you did i know what you said i know where you went i know what you did but none of that just like bishop said i still want you anyway what an amazing god glory to god the next thing the next thing keep playing that man that thing is ministered to me the next thing that i need you to know is that you're gonna have to show up can you give me some showing up music make that thing come on up a little bit show up see when shame hits you shame makes you do what adam did he went missing he planted himself [Music] and god says where are you where are you i'm looking for you and i came here tonight to tell you show up show up with your guilt glory hallelujah show up with your shame man may have something to say about it but you're gonna have to learn how to bypass what they say because i'm calling you where are you show up show up sick show up frustrated show up on your knees show up with your hands lifted just show up whatever it is he is calling you [Music] the fact that he called you ought to awaken you to his righteousness because he knows everything and he knows what you did but he still calls you where are you brittany where are you james where are you jordan where are you joel where are you erica where are you robert where are you matthew where are you john where are you joseph where are you derek where are you destiny where are you latoya where are you and i came here tonight to tell you show up go by god no matter what you feel like [Music] show up i don't care if everybody knows some people are going to say why would you do that doing what you just did you have to learn how to ignore what they say and understand that i can't get this off of me if i stay to myself i can't get this off of me if i bury myself i can't get this off to me if i keep talking to the person i got into it with the only way i can get rid of it is to go to him and answer him when he calls me show up and they heard the voice of the lord god walking through the garden in the cool of the day adam and his wife and they hid themselves from the presence amongst the trees that's exactly what the enemy wants you to do be in the presence hiding from god in the presence where god is in the presence where there's fullness of joy in the presence where there's healing in the presence where there's treasures forevermore in the presence under the shadows of the almighty god in the presence what healing and deliverance is in the presence don't let the enemy drive you from the presence make you feel like you shouldn't go to the altar you shouldn't go to church you shouldn't be on that team that is exactly where you need to be because the presence of the lord is waiting on you to stick with your call to stick with who you are to stick with what he assigned you to do that is where your healing is and the only reason why you can't is because shame is fear-based shame is a social emotion it'll change how you socialize it'll change who you socialize with when you fall in shame you'll go to a different crowd you'll pull away from those for fear of how they judge you so you roll with these who will at least compliment you and assist you and not make you feel like you're all alone that is one of the saddest things that people do in the church that when somebody falls we shame them we shun them and we make them navigate to shame and clothe themselves and redress themselves in shame that's why we're teaching this tonight that you're going to awaken to righteousness and rip every garment of shame off of your body the hats of shame the shirts of shame the pants of shame the feet of shame you are stripping that off tonight there is no reason after tonight to walk in shame because you are going to walk in liberty because it's a social emotion changes who you socialize with it changes how you socialize and it maximizes itself in your feelings so you're gonna have to choose to embrace the feelings of shame and the condemnation that comes with it or you can choose to embrace god's truth and walk in that you're going to have to speak god's truth to your memory you're going to have to speak god's truth to your present feelings and yes you will still feel it but you got power over what you feel god knows everything he knew adam and eve was naked but here's what's interesting and i'm almost through with it nakedness was nothing to be ashamed of you read it in the scripture in chapter 2 verse 25 it said that they both were naked nakedness and shamefulness had no connection to it okay the body and the soul were both submitted to the spirit that's good on the music thank you but man and god had that spirit to spirit relationship because here's what happens shame disturbs that relationship with god but once their eyes had opened the nakedness and shamefulness begin to partner with each other and so what this does is creates a a barrier for vulnerability vulnerability is about exposure so now you have a difficult time being vulnerable with people you're not going to open yourself up because you got to couple yourself you have to make sure you protect yourself and so vulnerability is a dangerous thing you heard bishop say sunday that keeping it 100 will get you killed so you have to learn how to keep it 45 or keep it 50. you can't keep it 100 with everybody okay some people you can be vulnerable with on levels and then there's others you cannot be at all but god is not a man you can be vulnerable with god about everything about you okay everything about you so what happens now when nakedness and shamefulness begin to connect and begin to partner here's what happens they're naked they need a covering god as powerful as he is goes and sacrifices something we don't know what he sacrifices but what we do know that he comes back with garments and they put aprons on they cover themselves they cover themselves now this my brothers and sisters leaves sin covered god covers their nakedness but there's nothing done for the sin he closed them but the sin has been committed and now we have the expression of shame the expression of saying is i have to cover myself that's where the root word of shame comes from from covering they have to cover themselves so now we've got an answer for the nakedness but we don't have an answer for the sin yet so here's what you got to do i'm going to move quickly and i'll come back to that study shame to understand it and study god to understand you study saying to understand it and study god to understand you there's five areas of shame i'm gonna give you five areas of shame number one is inherited shame that is sin nature from eden we all inherited it number two individual shame sin that you personally commit then you have incessant shame that is generational recycled shame based uh that's generational recycled shame that's been passed because it wasn't dealt with successfully with your mother your father your grandfather passed through the bloodline then you got imposed shame that's when somebody inflicted something on you somebody did something to you and then number five you've got institutional shame that's institutions of society or family or color of skin so here's what happened shame you look at these five areas shame wants to keep you shackled to your worst moments in life it wants to keep you like this you're not free to move about you're not free to live your life you're not free to go run for office you're not free to go for that job you're not free to be who you want to be because you got to spend most of your time covering parts of you that you're just going to have to rip off and move on i get it once i rip this off i'm going to have a loss of dignity yep it happens with divorce yep it happens with foster kids yep happens with rape yep it happens with bankruptcy yep it happens with failure period you feel unworthy you feel like you can't have an intimate relationship with god or people because shame wants to keep you stuck to your worst moment in your life shame will keep you from believing in god's grace and it'll make you forget that god forgives it'll make you run away from god and not seek repentance see the deal with adam was he was thinking about how god was going to view him and his wife he was worried about the judgment and the view of god about him so we hid what is god gonna say about us shame makes you lower your view of your own self that's why we gotta rip it off i want to show you something in isaiah 54 and 4 fear not but i shall not be ashamed need to be thou confounded but thou shalt not be put to shame but thou shalt forget the shame of thy youth and shall not remember the reproach of thy willhood anymore are you looking at that this is the bible you got to pay attention put it back up there for him please you got to pay attention to this this is scripture for you people are telling you certain stuff but go look at the word fear not you shall not be ashamed neither be confounded for thou shalt not be put to shame for thou shalt forget the shame of your youth look i've dealt with that i got stuff that bothers me when i was 16 17 18 19 20. i'm in my 40s now and i still think about it but i have to go to the word of god and rehearse the truth so i can be free from what shame is shackling me to that happened 20 years ago you got to have that word he said just to give you a little context about that new move their shame was their past he was talking about egypt the past position with society they were slaves and then he says what you did when you were young is done and i know some people don't want to hear that but i'm telling you what the book said what you did when you were young is done the israelite became a widow then they disobeyed god and they took his presence for granted he took it away from them but he reestablished their relationship he said you're not going to be put to shame glory to god i've got to move quickly and i'm going to get you out here we go isaiah 41 and 2 glory to god isaiah 40 1 and 2. comfort ye comfort ye my people saith your god speak he comfortably to jerusalem and cry unto her that her warfare is accomplished and that her iniquity is pardoned for she has received of the lord's hand double for all of her sins now this thing right here blessed me and and i heard this teaching years ago and i had to bring this out tonight because of how this subject has really been blessing our church now some of the rabbinical teachings would tell you that when this particular text had come out that there was debt collectors down in the courts okay and so if someone owed money and couldn't pay their debts they would take the sheepskin or go skin or whatever and they would write it out they'd write it out you owe this for the house you owe this for the oil you know this for this and you would owe this and then they would nail it on the tree on the fence put it up and let everybody see it so it was shame for you to go downtown and see george cutlin own all of this stuff his house is about to be foreclosed all of that so we have to talk about this because what double is he talking about in the text because most of the time when we're in church we say god's about to give you a devil for your trouble we all take off running and then we talk about elijah and elisha got a double portion of the anointing and then we look at what happened to job when he lost uh his kids and his money and everything and then he got double in the end that ain't this kind of double glory to god if somebody was walking down through the courts and saw and had a heart to take care of your debt they would go pay the debt and then the man that put it up there would take it and create what they call the double wish i had to witness it here tonight they would take the devil which would mean that the debt has been paid i wish i had to witness it here and then he would take that double and nail it to the tree which had another witness i feel power right now they would nail it because devil had just hit your life what is he saying let me give you some more context when i go to the book of colossians it says in second chapter 14 first blotting out the handwriting of ordinances that was against us which was contrary to us and took it out of the way nailing it to the cross so in other words the devil is jesus wish i had a witness in here tonight if you get jesus you got the devil wish i had a partner that would just praise with me oh right now all up in this virtual space and say i got jesus tonight i ain't supposed to be who because bishop told me just teach it but bishop can i have one minute and just say god thank you for the devil he sent jesus for me to blot out every sin to change everything in my life he hung it up on the cross so i came here tonight to tell you that jesus is bigger than your shame so what you need to do tonight is that after you've come through the fire after you've been through the flood look at what god has done for you looking under jesus who is the author and the finisher of our faith i feel the holy ghost in here look at somebody in your house and tell them i thank god for the devil it was the devil god was nailed him to the cross it was jesus that became my devil he took my shame the scripture says that he despised it which is trying to let you know that if you want to find out how to deal with it you've got to despise it you've got to reject it you don't have to accept it but let that devil know i'm letting you know i received the devil in my life and who is the devil type it on the line and say jesus he's my devil joy unspeakable joy bread in a starving land lily in the valley oh my god he's a bridge over troubled water he is [Music] he's my double whoa i feel the holy ghost in here tonight you gotta seek jesus so right there where you are i want you to go for it i want you to go for it right now whatever you know it's shame rip it off get it off of you take that feeling off pull that past off pull it out tired of this is my double he was nailed to the cross and i'm looking to him to help me deal with what i can handle and once you realize that you got a savior you'll learn how to live in front of your haters you learn how to live in front of people that constantly remind you of who you are and eventually you'll see what god saw before he ever called you shame of you that's how we get it off we get it off through jesus you can't do it on your own that's why you got to answer him when he calls you and when he calls your name don't hide just come out like you are guilty shame come out cause he died for you and he didn't wait for you to get it right he died before you ever believed in him and i want you to know you can pull it off you can pull it off you can pull it off whatever it is [Music] you can pull it off [Music] yes you can i'm talking to you you can pull it off [Music] right now you can pull it off right now you can pull it off you'll shave your guilt pull it off you can pull it off your shame your guilt pull it off i want you to take it off you can pull it off you save your guilt you can pull it off right now in your house just pull it off you don't have to take it with you no more you don't have to go another minute you can pull it off yeah yeah no more shame hold me back listen to me more shame yeah will hold me back that's it no more shame will hold me back no more shame oh well hold me back no more shame will
