Shake It Up was a weird show...

individuals who would go on to lead very wholesome non-controversial lives zendaya and bella thorne and wouldn't you know much like a lot of celebrities apparently they got their start on a disney channel original series now this one was called shake it up and it premiered as one of the highest rated shows that's ever been on disney channel so i figured it was about time i checked it out let's pm instead of am the toaster just like disintegrates your bread because you set the dial thing like two clicks too far to the right because that's how toasters work for some reason and now you're waiting for your train to go to work just so you can sit there and listen to that guy two chairs down repeat whatever dumb memes he read the night before and right in the middle of all this here comes some high school chuckle yuck just being like hey everybody what if i made your morning even worse because i just gotta dance but anyway so these two girls are rocky and cece two high school kids who are dealing with the biggest dilemma any teen could possibly face in 2010 not having a cell phone cause you know when you're at that age and all you want to do is just fit in with everybody else and like get depressed while you scroll through twitter all day and develop body dysmorphia issues from instagram even though we all know that everyone tweaks and photoshops their pictures but yet at the same time we take them all at face value for some reason anyway so later on we see our main characters in the hallway at school honey alert hi alert could he be any cuter [Music] yes you know when doing as many videos as i have about these kinds of like shows and movies and stuff i noticed that all of the hot guys that these girls fall for like they all just look like any dude you'd see hanging out at a gas station on a friday night but all the same we meet one of rocky and cece's friends deuce not so fast i got something that's perfect for you ladies check this out shake it up chicago auditions on the 10th looking for teen background dancers 13 and up get out of here oh i would so kill you to be on that show oh i would so like you yay friendship right after this we meet the rivals of our main characters a couple of german or swedish exchange students who are also obsessed with dancing and of course are also going to audition for that shake it up thing a la rocky iv i guess we also have a flyer we are the best dancers in chicago don't be loony nutty you're not even the best dancers in this hallway is that the bell for class or is it your cell phones that don't exist okay i get that you're exchange students or whatever but like that was the worst install of all time you guys could have done way better oh yeah is that's the school bell or just the sound of you desperately trying to stay relevant anyway so after being just completely eviscerated by these two after school rocky isn't so sure that she wants to go through with the whole audition thing because like what if someone's better than her i mean hey if you're not the best at something why even bother you know what i mean hey we should practice some moves for the audition yeah about that i don't think i'm ready for this maybe gunther and tinka are right why would you listen to anything they say what are you loony nutty maybe i am but i'm still not going it's too scary oh come on don't do this again do what be you yeah okay dizzy channel hold on a second i'm a little confused about the mixed messaging you got going on here i always thought i was supposed to just be myself and things would somehow magically work out and now you're telling me don't be me so i guess i'm supposed to be myself just when it's convenient for everybody else which is never then rocky has a dance-off with her brother because she's like you don't know how to dance and then she's like oh yeah well how about this and then her brother's like just dance like that at the audition tomorrow and you'll be fine and then she's like well maybe i will ah crap you got me so the next day they head over to the tv studio to audition for shake it up chicago all right kids i only got six openings for background dancers so one last step it's the spotlight dance just you your moves and 10 000 kilowatts of hot white light highlighting your every flaw oh so it's kind of like being a girl on the internet when they post a selfie and then they're like today's gonna be a good day and then there's always that one dude with like sunglasses in his profile picture who just has to chime in like i wouldn't even date you if you ask me because you got weird eyebrows all right so like don't even bother but also please show bob's anyway so rocky does her thing and everyone's like wow and she gets in but when it's cece's turn she freezes up and just completely bombs the audition you all right no rocky i'm not all right i froze up there that was the most embarrassing day of my life i walk around thinking i'm so cool but in real life i'm a loser oh come on cece it's not that bad i mean hey i walk around thinking i'm a loser and every day i prove myself right self-esteem i don't know what that means anyway the scene continues that's ridiculous i can't remember one time where you ever acted like a loser really remember when we were at camp and i wanted to race those canoes they were very unstable no i'm very unstable so then rocky gives cece a good old pep talk about how she's not a loser but it's okay if she was anyway because friendship or something anyway then we get this scene open we'll run up to your places and grab some clothes that sound good you know just cuz and finally the episode ends with rocky going on the show and handcuffing cece to herself so she has no choice but to go on the show with her and everyone's totally cool with that because it's a local access channel so like who cares that was quite a little show you ladies put on out there look i'm sorry but please don't fire rocky it's my fault she's wrong i'm the one who trained us together because she belongs here she's an awesome dancer you're both awesome dancers you got the skills you got to look but what you pulled out there was just weird and unexpected and i liked it oh yeah sure you know what tv executives love more than anything is someone going rogue and doing whatever they want but anyway so now they can finally buy cell phones and then the show goes on for three seasons like i said the beginning of the video this was one of disney channel's most popular shows at the time and helped launch the careers of bella thorne and zendaya for better or worse but i guess that's just kind of how it goes for disney channel people you know you never quite know how they're going to turn out in the end hey everybody first of all just want to say thank you for downloading and playing the game seems like a lot of you really enjoy it i'm going to be starting a contest to find the first three people who can finish all 200 levels of the game okay if you can do this if you're one of the first three people to finish all 200 levels then you're gonna get to be in an upcoming video if possible you'll get to record a line finish all 200 levels okay so good luck you know i gotta say probably one of my favorite like unrealistic tropes about a lot of these like tv shows and movies and stuff not just disney channel but just kind of like young people stuff like teen rom-coms or like those movies and shows about like you know the working girl graduates college it gets her first job and then whatever whatever they portray it how it's like oh you know these people these companies really want someone who can think outside the box and they want someone who can just go their own way and pay their own path we're looking for trailblazer like when you go apply for jobs and stuff like we want a trailblazer who can multitask and who doesn't you know need self-motivated whatever but like in my experience as someone who worked in the quote unquote real world for a long time before starting youtube it's like that never happens in fact like if you're some like if you're just some like schmuck who goes around like doing whatever you want however you want and you're like they're like here's the way you need to do things and you're like no i'm gonna do it this way like you'll get fired so fast like those are the people that no one wants to work with you know especially with something like this where you know they're on a tv show and the the guy specifically says well this girl can't be on the show because she messed up her audition and then she comes in and joins the show anyway and then he's like huh well i like you so i guess you could be like that's never going to happen you know like like go to broadway or go to like la whatever and try to like audition for a show and then they you don't get in and then just show up to practice anyway you know show up to rehearsal like see what
