Shadow of the Colossus Remake (FULL GAME)

open the morning to you ladies my name is Jacksepticeye and welcome to Nostalgia week I decided to do another one because last year I got in a big raucous with a whole virus and everything and if look we're not going to go into it we're also not going to go into this video um so I decided that I'm going to do one this year it's been a while since the last one and I figured what better game to start it all off with then shout out with the Colossus because not only was this this used to be my favorite game of all time I said that many times and I stood by it for a long time and then I realized you know what maybe bloodborne is actually my favorite game of all time because I kept coming back to that more but I haven't played the remake of this game since it came out since I did a series on it before so if you want to watch that one you can go back and watch it when it came out my initial reactions to all the Remake stuff um but this is going to be a new game again um but I'm going to be talking a lot more probably over a lot of stuff and cutscenes and everything so if you want a more laid-back version of the series you can go back and watch the original one but not only is this nostalgic for the channel um this remake's not that old but the original shadow of Colossus is quite old but the game itself is quite nostalgic for me as a person I said many times that this game kind of you know a lot of people say like oh your channel saved me your channel got me through some rough times this game was that for me when I was uh a lonely depressed 16 17 year old I got this game I also have oh I don't know if I have it here I think I do hold on I bought a plastic wrapped unopened version you guys see the plastic there of the sort of limited edition collector's edition whatever you want to call this special edition of the game uh which is in paper and you can pull it out and there's postcards and all that kind of stuff but I I got one in plastic didn't cost that much um because I wanted to keep it because the original version of this I had got Torn to Pieces so I have a brand new fresh one that I can kind of keep in the background now forever they have this massive picture of it behind me that I don't know if you can actually see it an artist did this and they only had a limited number of them available and they asked if I wanted one and I got it and it's a very limited run of that poster and I'm very happy with it Moses is very happy with this remake what a fantastic game that's my Lord that's my backstory and so I became the villain that I am today but my plan is to finish this entire game in one sitting or one video at least I don't know maybe I'll take a break [Applause] [Music] God your face to look stupid though it's the one blemish the one thing I don't like about this remake is his face [Music] love this soundtrack I never realized that his footsteps were in beat with the music I don't know if that's intentional [Music] oh the soundtrack will do things to you man here we go awesome cloth physics whoosh [Music] like his face doesn't look too bad I'm exaggerating of course but he has such a distinct kind of like angular face in the original fake Language by the way [Music] excuse me holy cause brussels sprouts this is also view houses is built Ed and so we're coming back to this now after Last Guardian s [Music] because the language is fairly similar there you go yeah so beautiful I really hope again this is probably really obvious for anyone who doesn't know this remake was done by blue point games who then went on to do the uh Demon Souls remake and they're working on something else they helped make God of War as well either the newest one or the one before that but they they teased something else and a lot of people think it's Metal Gear Solid which would be sick but I'm hoping for a bloodborne remake A remaster or something taste my blade your corners [Music] such a cool voice I love that you can hear like multiples of them in there yes [Music] foreign oh it's so cool it is not always I'm usual if it leads to either dude I'm gonna tell you now it's not worth it foreign [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] roll it up or you I will bet I like as well that they talk differently like Dorman says Thou Art kind of stuff to show just how ancient they are and how far back they go and then Wonder talks normally I am no mere mortal I have a horse and an unbeatable determination [Music] [Music] of course you will do that I don't know they made up that language because it sounds slightly Asian like inspired and then it sounds kind of Swedish norwegian-y [Music] and then sometimes a little English [Music] no good you guys get all that dead girl go kill other things [Music] so pretty because you've had a lot of really fantastic looking Games come out since this [Music] [Music] la la la Dorman you're lagging and then you're just straight into the game baby [Music] oh yeah I need to remember all the buttons okay Agro let's go I grow oh wait what are my buttons okay I'm still stuck in like old the Shadow of the Colossus mode follow the Tesla sound looks amazing I mean it didn't come out that long ago but I think it looks fantastic Blue Point are always so good at their lighting because the textures look good too but the lighting is really selling it and lighting was such a massive important part of this game it's still not exactly how the original game was because you can see the sky the original was like blinding all the time and I added this really cool like mysterious aesthetic to everything video oh yeah and since this game came out I did a live show tour the Jackson body the jacksepticeye live show comedy World Tour there's now a documentary out about it that you can go watch as well um but I it sprung to mind because we played this game on stage I brought somebody up to play this first Colossus [Music] forgot about that but yeah wouldn't it be cool if they did a bloodborne remake I almost want that more than a sequel because I don't think a sequel will happen but bloodborne just still it's just it's low res it stuck at 30 FPS and it's not a consistent 30 FPS either could you imagine if it got this treatment oh like Ray Trace Global Illumination in bloodborne would be to die for I would love that this game doesn't even have Ray tracing in it this is way before people started implementing it not way before but I could be wrong though show it to me [Music] what an astounding introduction and I probably I'm probably going to repeat myself a lot playing this but when I got this game originally it was that case for the game that I saw in GameStop and I went in and I looked at it and I was like I have a bit of money to spend on a game and I just read the back of that and I was like man that's so cool sounding I love giant monsters and then I got it and it turned out to be the greatest thing ever how do I there we go I'm gonna mess up all these buttons very continuously over here short shrimp what are you gonna do kill me no I'm gonna kill you no turning so slowly what a big baby [Music] your help talky person to do grab the hairy ass and move it oh Shake Rattle and Roll All you want big boy I ain't going nowhere it's okay though I know what it's like to have a hairy ass as well you're not alone there are dozens of us see if the old strats still work see if I still got it oh yeah I still got it you think you can lose this kind of talent okay wander hold on please [Music] this is also kind of a task for me to see how quick I can finish the game because I think my other playthrough of it I finished in like four and a half hours and that's still fairly quick but I'm like can I be quicker I think I can but I also don't want to rush it because it would ruin the sort of playthrough there they go they look really cool in the remake it's also I mean any of you who had never seen it before I guess if you're watching it again you get to see the connection between this and Eco because this is a prequel to Eco Wonder at the end of this game becomes the first like kid born with horns to like spread that evil throughout the world and then how that fits into the Last Guardian I don't know it could be way later that's so cool for me to oweda has such a unique brain I'm so curious what they're working on and then I turned Italian for a second they showed off like tiny pictures if you look up for me to await a new game you'll see like two pictures from it I think [Music] they're companies called gen design now they used to be team eco but Sony Computer Entertainment Japan disbanded and they worked a lot with this type of these types of games but also bloodborne and that's why I think a bloodborne sequel will never happen because I think Sony have the rights to it but ever since SCE Japan disappeared I think they're like yeah whatever we're not going to do anything with that anymore [Music] but it would be a shame if all of these types of games that were under sej were kind of just lost to history [Music] the next four is foreign okay I can do that you gotta go fight the big dog yes his face just looks his face looks too plain your vanilla wander you're a basic [ __ ] that's what I'm trying to say um but the reason I'm I'm a bit more harsh on it than I mean I should be again it doesn't really matter I don't really care but it's that in the original game if you look at comparisons of it his face was so like angular it seemed to have so much emotion in it he seemed to be angry but determined he just seemed like troubled there was like something going on underneath the face even though the face was basic in terms of like technological prowess okay I don't need this it's just telling me where I can save and heal but I don't need that um his face was basic from a technological standpoint back then but you can see like when he moves around and he stabs things like his face just had so much emotion and grit and he had so much like like determination you you could tell that there was a lot of bubbling under the surface with him and the face of him here he just feels a little too young a little too baby-faced because he is supposed to be young but not not like so young that he just left the womb oh that's not the right way you're gonna have to forgive me favorite game ever but it's been a long time since I played it I still absolutely adored this game though I this is another one of those games I say this about a few games around that you can tell someone that this is your favorite game ever and a lot of times they'll be like well I don't really I wouldn't say it's my favorite game ever but they'll understand why you said that make going the right way where am I going am I lost already what did I do oh it's that one yeah I am lost I'm busy rambling um oh oh there's a few other games like that like like Red Dead Redemption 2 I wouldn't say is like the best game ever for my tastes and my likings but I can definitely understand why a lot of other people would think that actually The Witcher 3 is a good example of that I so desperately want to love that game it has so many oh I'm trying to pull you left why are you going that way as some of the so many of the elements that I love like high fantasy like the lore and the story is so cool but I just really don't like the combat in that game I really really really want to love it but the combat just feels sloppy to me but the world and the design and the open world in it is so amazing because I love that it looks so much like Europe and being a European it's it's cool to see like places that look like where you're from oh but the combat in it I just can't but there's probably a lot of people that played this game who are like I don't like how the horse controls I don't like how Wonder controls I don't like how clunky it is when you're on the Colossus and I get that I don't like how wander's face looks you know I have a feeling that's going to be the running joke I have for this playthrough sorry aggro I'm like kicking you incessantly when I probably don't need to be [Applause] I wish there was more documentaries about how this was made not only the Remake but the original game I I just love BTS content I ain't talking just about the K-Pop group I mean I want to see more behind the scenes of how every game is made how they came up with the ideas the language the designs I get that not showing that leaves more mystery but boom boom boom boom boom done all right we're gonna have to get your attention okay you're going not in the directions I want slow down there for a second Johnny can I nope can I oh are you doing it yeah turn this way chief okay a little too close come on do it I know know that his name is Wonder is because in Japan the game was called Wander and the Colossus so you'll hear a lot of people call them Wonder because Japanese to English doesn't always translate like phonetically so they just call them wander and the Colossus rwanda's helping Timmy with Cosmo right on the bonus is that that for this one no oh come on you had like a hair lengthworth of hellspire left on that oh hold on hold on whoa whoa oh Nelly we got this we got this I'm going straight for that Noggin of yours hold on Jesus sometimes he's falling all over the place and I'm like holding on for dear life hey hey now going okay I think that was the thing that I noticed with this version of the game that his feet seemed to slip way more than they did in the original but maybe I'm completely misremembering there was something about like the way he he physically moved in this one that I was like that seems different than what I remember close come on wonder come on ah to see that why are you letting go sweet dreams you big cow it's like a mix between Like Elephant feet bull horns cow sounds you're never gonna get me no I refuse I refuse oh if that was bloodborne you'd be able to dodge it [Music] back to the womb I go where everything is see everything in my life started going wrong after I left the womb everything in the womb was fine it was nice it was normal my brain hadn't even turned on it was a simpler time it was akin to being dead not that I wish to be dead now it's just you know all of these like thoughts in your head going on all the time what's up with that why is that happening like stop get up wander you big baby just oh you killed two Giants and then you almost died twice like big deal it's for love Wonder for love best one [Music] Gaius [Music] cowling ayata [Music] ayakoo I can do it hey that's how they came up with the language they're like go in there and just say a bunch of random [ __ ] wake up wake up I think she's dead Agro what do you think it's all right we'll save her the only way I know how by killing 16 colossae and ride my horse around all day okay I'm definitely going to get lost finding this one because I always do any of the ones that just aren't like right in front of you I always there's like a windy part in the middle of those rocks like over there that I always just get lost in do you think I'd know it by now having played this game like six times nope because it always works itself out and I don't have to remember I don't have to learn and that's really the game's fault not me then you see the beam of light going through the air I think he's dead he's turning into sand already so the theories around this are that Dorman's like black magic that's put inside them that comes out in the tendrils and then you see the person Escape those are like parts of Dorman's Soul lodged in like natural formations they're bound to the Earth so that's why the creatures look like they're made out of stone and dirt and soil and that kind of stuff so when you kill them they revert back to their original state which is just part of the earth like dust to dust and all that kind of stuff so they're turning back into sand now oh yeah baby it's a cool map too part of me kind of wants a map like this in real life like a good old like actual parchment but not really maps are kind of boring to me did already we'll just keep going there'll be a way in somewhere oh I did [ __ ] it it's back there turn I grow turn about face you turn holy yui wait it's just right here how do I get lost finding that one before maybe it's not this one maybe it's the other ones I think it's like the water guy I always get lost God isn't that pretty I adore the lighting in this game I mean I'm a big fan of lighting in general I don't know if you guys knew that about me there you go calm down aggro this one I must go alone but stay safe stay safe Agro meet me back at the temple I'll survive also this is my favorite Colossus everybody knows that Gaius is the best one the third Colossus it's the coolest it's on the box out it's not the tallest one or the biggest one but for some reason it feels like the tallest one it also just has a big stone sword and I think that's cool I'm squelching in my boots if this is a Netflix series The subtitles right now would be wander's shoes squelch wetly I love those subtitles like vecina's tentacles squelch wetly jump and you didn't do it oh no I didn't oh oh I'm stuck in Old controls again God damn that could have ended it all okay can you can you go back on this one can you hello I'm like aiming backwards can you okay maybe I'll just try climb up top can't you just jump off this why are you not doing it there you go I was like aiming every direction and he wouldn't face it face it wonder you're useless except when it comes to killing Giants oh yeah there it is I love that they frame it with the tower in the background as well to be like pay attention to that because this guy is big there's my hairy beloved so cool I think it's also just my favorite design the silhouette of this one is so beautiful tickle tickle okay this one might take a bit because it's very inconsistent train hit me good effort good effort all right I'll pull you this way a bit right in the belly tickle tickle look how cool that is n't that just the coolest thing you've ever seen in a video game 's are full of cool things but this is up there don't crush me bro chill bruh right here foreign smack me here oh beautiful oh beautiful this is what we want that's what we sections in the mesh of the character that feels like it shows that I'm moving but I'm not [Applause] like where the where the Collision meshes of the character merge feels a little wonky what's in that hand [Music] thinking about swords okay can you just wonder for the love of God why are you flopping around like a [ __ ] fish great now we have to take a break it's you and those [ __ ] baby and then your character just goes like whoa what was that bananas oh it boils my blood but that's the exhilaration of the game this looks like that Meme picture of the girl on the couch with all the guys behind her Dorman Dorman no sorry I'm just wrecking your house I know you told me to but my bad which one's next I used to know this number four is it Bossa run no which is the little like bold one there's two of them one of them is at the end is it like durge and basarun I guess we'll find out oh it's Phaedra the big horse [Music] nice do you think the different colossae also represent I know they represent a different part of Dorman's soul um I grow you here buddy let's go um but do you think they they represent like different facets of the personality like fear anger that kind of stuff I don't know we're going this way Agro oh yeah this is the one where I'm like do I go left or right let's go left right seems to go down further I'm going to regret this decision also isn't it crazy to have an open world like this that has nothing to do like you play stuff like Witcher Grand Theft Auto Red Dead and while red Dead's world is pretty sparse as well there's a lot going on in that world you don't have many towns in it but whatever's going on with like the animals and the AI systems and everything is crazy but in this game it's the Forbidden land I'm not supposed to be here I'm a naughty little boy did I just wander in here big people back at Camp are like well of course he ran off we called him Wonder we should have just named him stay we named him stay put and do nothing he wouldn't have done anything [Music] yeah yeah oh this game is so lovely there's even parts of this Graphics engine that look a little dated already like the LOD system not being able to put a lot of grass in very far in front of you I guess that's because I'm playing in performance mode as well though but it's just interesting to see how fast tech in video games is progressing and how many how much we can do in real time already but this still looks fantastic art style goes a long way did I have my tattoo from the game before this one can you see like a symbol if you stop me here the Black Ink comes out and I die I'll fall over and then the tendrils get you so anyone who plans on killing me that's that's where you go that's my weak point that or my [ __ ] there's a wave well maybe it's in the old version I'm actually not too sure about the newer one there's a way of like Galloping at him like the way he is now um aggro can you run why did you stop um now you can just jump and land on those like chain clinky things that are hanging off ouch God you're slow Hello I'm on your eyes are orange that means you don't like me [Music] oh what gonna cry aggro move D you're gonna get yourself killed there's a bigger horse can I go [Music] I hope this works out first time it's always so badass when you're able to take them down really quickly and I've proven that I can but also things can go like a little wrong sometimes so like I can come out here and it'll actually be turned around and not bent down like that [Applause] I guess I didn't wait long enough for them to see me go into the hole I yeah I'm over here see now I just looks foolish now it just looks silly now you're making me seem like I don't know what I'm doing uh still a bit of a bad spot to be in though okay I'm gonna go in here I don't know I still don't think that that's gonna work because you came out at a weird angle but we're just gonna hope that you bend down and look into it it could be here for a while folks oh there he goes he goes here I come [Music] super serious business yes feel that that's someone on your ass nice nice this is also the first video game soundtrack that I absolutely fell in love with that kind of like changed my mind on video game soundtracks oh God oh God camera being a little wonky Willy okay yeah you can shake all you want yep yep I'm still right here bro still right here oh keep shaking oh we're all very scared I actually am kind of because he keeps flapping me the wrong direction and now since the hitbox in this thing seems to be absolutely tiny nice big hits big hits wonder wonder come on you can you can manage that you can hold on to that okay we might have to take a little bit of a break or not or not one one good big one one good big one will do you okay the whole game just went like yeah oh that feels good oh it feels so tasty hold on wonder hold on if you stand up of him the Tantrums won't get you or run Underground I wonder if some of this stuff is um based on Newgrange in Ireland look up Newgrange I think it's in County meath um but there's kind of like this structure here looks a lot like Newgrange it's a tomb that one time out of the year the sunlight goes right down the middle of the chamber and illuminates the whole middle of it and it's it's one of the oldest monuments in the world I can't remember how old it is hold on they're going to talk for a while anyway we might as well learn something oh it is an exceptionally Grand passage to him built during the Neolithic period around 3 200 BC making it older than Stonehenge and the Egyptian pyramids Ireland baby everyone's like oh the pyramids the pyramids are great Ireland we're building [ __ ] 3 200 years before Jesus even walked in the Earth we're an old old Nation [Music] oh feet is she alive I go wake up still not alive I grow I'm gonna have to try again how are you who are we doing in you so I said oh yeah [Music] the statue of it looks so goofy it looks like big bird oh Avion second favorite one in the whole game damn Wonder look how shiny your hair is pen 10 Pro V yeah like what are you using in that hair what conditioner you got yeah I'm trying to grow my hair out to be like yours so any any tips you can share with a guy would be very appreciado ah all right where are we going over that way oh that's a wall and I grow I'm literally holding my controller handbrake left I'm trying I'm basically trying to drift my horse that way so I have to cross again this is another one that I get confused by of course anyway we'll see what happens yeah Oh what a beautiful land shame no one's allowed come here on account of all that dark magic that we're not supposed to go near but hey you do it for love you know we don't know if that was his girlfriend his wife his mom his sister just a girl he cares a lot about but isn't in love with like platonic love we don't know all that matters is that I'm a murdering psychopath and I just ask no questions I'm like hey multiple voices of demons in the sky I heard that you guys could bring people out back to life true and they're like oh yeah for sure and he's like all right say less let me go kill everything the few things that are left alive in this section of the world I'll go kill them all I don't think I was supposed to cross though this better be the right way I grow you're leading me I'm I I'm just going along at the journey you're the one Galloping everywhere so I hope you know where you're going because none of this looks familiar to me a man who's never been here before horses always know they always know the way forward they just have this Keen sense of direction me I get lost in my own bathroom oh yeah this one is incredible I think in terms of mechanics this one is one of the more impressive ones because again I'm repeating myself from my previous playthrough but the fact that you're able to jump on one that's flying around like how they did this on a PlayStation 2 I'll never know that [ __ ] is pure Wizardry because still to this day almost no one attempts this very very few developers would even attempt moving levels like this even Sony Santa Monica when they made God of War 3 did it but it was a way more restrained version of it this is like fully physics driven and then in the newer God of Wars they don't even attempt it anymore because it's just way too hard to do because it must be a nightmare to figure out the Collision meshes and the hitboxes and the physics of it all and making sure you don't like clip through anything or making anything fall through the world I love that too because it gives you a little POV what it's like to be on their back so I remember the very first time I tried this one I was like I was like wait how am I supposed to take them down because at the time I was like there's absolutely no way you jump on that and then I saw this and I was like oh maybe he just stays still and then you jump on him there and then he flies around after but no he's just cool okay what was my tactic for this just shoot from the middle and was it that I should go onto the side because then I always grab onto one or is it it comes to one specific site I can't remember and I used to be so good at this game that's a really cool looking one foreign hey you want to come down [Music] this is good this is good we're straight into it [Music] please don't slap please don't slap please don't slap please don't flap oh big hits huge now don't fall down now stay in the air I know you're made out of stone I don't even know how you fly in the first place that you're gonna flap so be careful wait was that it that's that one done already hope for the best oh my God oh my God I can't believe I did that this one isn't even gonna show up yet because it oh it is foreign I can't believe I managed to stay on that never happens now it's done okay okay stay on stay on there's no way I can stay on for all three is it I thought it had to fall off I might just that gifted am I God's given gamer the one that the story's foretold okay don't fall off now because it would be really really awkward to explain in the middle of my monologue about how great I am okay level out oh God oh God oh I wonder if I could have dropped off there and done it no don't flap it November but whatever okay level out for a second just a second that's all I need oh one simple second and it's all over from the top rope Jack comes down with the chair Hell in a Cell 1998. both straight to the water you go oh man that's not good oh to do all three in one goal normally I have to fall off and reset and have them come back and not today oh I deserve I deserve commendations in the comments for that one I deserve subscribes I deserve likes I deserve the good comments positivity I deserve a gift basket with my name on the front of it with a really nice card for Christmas I deserve really good things for that one that felt amazing oh I'm right not high right now should just end the episode here it's never going to get better but I won't because we have plenty more game to go that was number five yeah so the 16 total some of them are much quicker than the others I think that Phaedra fight is actually the longest one we've done so far or um Gaius not sure Robin can we get a uh a graphic on screen of how long it took me to do those other fights just boom boom boom boom boom there look at those times I don't know what it said that's no holy cow which one is it that one's confused me now I thought it was kuromori and then I saw and yukuramori was later and I saw that one next to that one this can't be the little ball one is it because you said a giant lurks and that one is like the size of aggro do you think it's called the horse is called aggro because they draw aggro I think we're going behind the temple for this one this is fun I get a surprise I haven't been surprised by this game in ages and then I'll see it and I'll be like oh that one I think we go this way yeah right I keep holding Circle for the sword because I think that that's what it was in the original isn't that weird that some of the original original controls are still ingrained in my head it's wild some things just stick with you I guess I wonder if this is one of those things that if I got old and had dementia somebody who put Shadow of the Colossus in front of me and I'd be I'd be able to do it first try like bloodborne the muscle memory would kick in oh beautiful Forest what are these red oak uh Redwood uh Sequoia uh Beach little blossoms very cool very cool no sunlight in here though so it's kind of pointless for me to be in here there's also Easter eggs hidden everywhere in this one I think there's one in this Forest but I'm not gonna go searching for them there's like a Last Guardian Shield somewhere I think yeah that's definitely an elm tree a Northern Pacific uh basil blossom but away we go oh you had to land on the [ __ ] rocks oh well this would have hurt anyway this is not deep enough I grow I love that scream he does in the middle of combat that aggro that he yells there's such a like raw energy to it when we see I grow running across up top maybe maybe not I don't know where the [ __ ] they are see I did Circle to hold up my sword again we're going that away I go where are you at echo's a girl right where are you at girl I'll just ass actually have I said that about all of them they all have their moments but this one specifically because when you fall down and start stabbing him and then have to get back to the top of the birthday um in February it'll be five years since this came out I don't know where time's going on oh this is the one because I thought it was after the little guy and that's why I was asking but I know in the original you could like jump off and at a perfect angle and you could just grab it and then fly around the map I don't know if you can still do it I imagine you can I wouldn't I don't think there he is like here you can jump off and grab it but I've never been able to do it every time I've tried I've just looked foolish and then aggro runs away on me and I get sad that's so cool looking yeah I'm curious what they're working on because a lot of people say that uh yeah we're going over there that bloodborne doesn't need a remake and that's true it doesn't really because it's not that old but I feel like we at least need a remaster or a PC version so many people talk about it and there's so many jokes and memes and Die Hard fans that want that on PC or something I just want something that's not the PS4 version that version of the game sucks now it's really it's already really outdated art style can bring you a long way and the mechanics are really really good but that frame rate and that image quality is just not what you want to see it deserves better it's such a good game that it it deserves to be not dying on the PS4 this way I think this is the area I got you where I went through the forest and I was like wait I'm not where I think I'm supposed to be yeah you gotta come back out over here yeah I say with such Authority yeah even though it could be completely wrong I'm not wrong I'm a legend god it feels so good to be this talented such awesome looking World design a bit too many rocks what's up with all the rocks we pull some of them out too rid of them yeah I don't need your stupid save this one's not hard just might take you a bit if you can't oh it might take you a bit if you can't get them to walk towards the thing on time I've never really had a hard time with this one I love worlds like this uh from soft really good at it as well like the post-apocalyptic type of areas where the world already existed and then things went wrong and now we're here in this version of it and I love what I love about that is that your brain makes up a whole bunch of stuff for you it's like what was this what did people do here in the land before the long long ago like how did people live in this region and how did Dorman come about and then they fought him and or them and got rid of them and then decided look we're not going to go back to that area of the world did it just have magic built into it we'll never know and that's the beauty of it I think that's why any of the storytelling stuff that I do I don't like giving over all the answers to it immediately or sometimes ever like some things you have to answer you need a conclusion to things but I think leaving stuff up to the audience's interpretation because audiences are smart but a lot of current media oh cool a lot of current media don't treat the audience as smart they like beat you over the head with stuff to be like you get it right like Ragnarok was a big example of that of the the NPCs or the the other characters saying like hey go here do this because the level Design's done and then they realize the level design is a bit too convoluted looking that I'm sure they focused tested it and then were like wait people don't get it so just add dialogue it's much easier to do that than re-engineer the game I don't really like the scaly rocks on this one I need to go down here I don't really have any money developer friends that I can talk to or at least I just wish more developers would talk about other games you know how Corridor Digital do video game or video visual effects artists react I want to see video game developers react maybe Corridor can do that I don't care take the idea um I should probably go left actually right I think that was a quicker way of getting to it people look at red dead too like I I don't know how the [ __ ] oh that's not here I don't know how the [ __ ] Red Dead 2 exists because there's a lot of games that do open world but Red Dead 2 is there are so many interactions in that game that I'm like you must have worked that team to the absolute bones and dust to get that game to come out the way it was to be as bug free and as consistent as it is like it's it's not a super dense world in regards to like so many towns and AIS and everything going on but the amount of animals that are interacting with things and like playing with each other fighting chasing deer uh snakes like hiding in the grass and attacking you and then there's stuff like you go up to a person begging on the streets for money and he claims to be blind and then you point a gun at him he's like oh wait you're like you're not blind but then you go up to another guy and he is blind they go the wrong way was this foolish yeah I thought I was going the right direction um like that kind of stuff is just insane to me to be able to do games like that and I I'd love to know what other developers think of or like Last of Us Part Two there was a scene where she takes off her shirt in the cutscene and everyone afterwards was talking about that like how did she do that how did you not get the shirt to clip through her body like moments like that or Kronos in God of War 3. were other our other devs at the time like sitting back going I mean I think I know how you did that but how in the absolute [ __ ] did you make that work same with the visual effects artists react you look at it and they kind of know like okay there's a couple of tricks you could do to make that work but I don't know how you actually did it please tell me this actually connects yes and I'm just curious to see people at the top of their game come out and talk about how they did certain things or video games are still just such an undertapped Secret like people don't really do behind the scenes and stuff hey maybe that's why Rockstar don't show how they make their games they have no behind the scenes stuff to go in depth on how things are made because God because maybe they did work their Community their team to the Bone and they're not they don't want to show that I don't know I don't know how much of it is that they think people won't care because God of Warwick 2018 came out and had a huge behind the scenes documentary and I love that God of War 3 also had one back in the day that I really enjoyed because that was the game that got me into like voice acting and game design in general because they did have a behind the scenes of how it was made and it opened up my mind to so much more than just playing the game I was like it showed you the people behind it and the people who acted in it the people who voiced it and so many other aspects so I'd love to know if some people had big game development Studios not even big game development Studios but like people who understand how games are made through and through like sit them down and talk about how the moving level of Phalanx was made and uh showed up with Colossus on PS2 when like was that as impossible as I think it was or was it like oh no this is how they did it nowadays it's actually pretty easy to do but people just don't do it or is it like no it's still really [ __ ] hard to do and almost impossible and that's why no one does it I want to know I want to know the secrets I would start that series myself but I don't know enough about video game design to be able to uh like serve back and forth with them like that like the corridor digital guys do maybe they know people actually they have video game designers on their team maybe they could do that have destroyed the bridge the first time that that's getting awful close to you as someone who just brought a horse across a bridge let me just tell you you want to run much faster than this wake up horse and it's like oh [Music] my little boyfriend helped me wow [Music] what a game there'll never be another one like it and that's incredible and blue point did such a good job on the remake I mean I can say all the same things as I said last time I think it sounds like Final Fantasy 7 music [Music] [Applause] yeah so cool we finished it pretty quick again but I think like four hours is my quickest I would really start to have I really have to start trying like ridiculous tactics to get it any faster than that but four hours is still pretty good for this game I think without having to do any like exploits I'm gonna look up a speedrun of this right after I finish but yeah there's I mean it'll show it afterwards but after the credits you get the the scene with wander as a baby in the pool and he has the little horns so oh kawotani what a soundtrack it's oh Kenji nojima is a wander's voice I was curious about that because then Eco comes after this and it's not until right after the credits that you realize or even like when you see him at the end then he has the horns that you realize oh this is attached to Eco because the whole time you never knew and they never said if it was prequel or sequel The Last Guardian is one thing because that's more like spiritual successor does it take place in the same universe probably is it sequel prequel no one really knows but for me to a way that came out and specifically said that this is a prequel to Eco and that wonder is the first kid born with horns because in eco it's a whole thing about kids being born with horns are evil they need to be put away somewhere imprisoned they're it's been a while since I played this so I can't remember is there Essence sucked out I just remember they're putting those like egg-shaped like sarcophagus's sarcophagi and then you break out of yours and you do your whole thing and you find yorda and you go around with that but the magic is back in that game like the it's always like black surrounded with like a turquoise sort of Halo here like the explosions on the bridge are all turquoise and the blade itself is black with like a turquoise beam um that kind of magic is in Eco and the queen herself is kind of like shrouded in that like black cloak um so I think all the boys in Eco are descended from wander in this and it's the same sort of culture but just many many years later [Music] which is interesting to think about that this location exists in Eco you just can't get there but I would have to go back and play it again now that I know this game inside out I wonder if playing Eco again would shed some new light on it Last Guardian it could be I think it is in the same timeline well for me to wait I said that it's in the same universe he confirmed that actually now that I think about it but he said that he doesn't know if it's in the same timeline but like the master of the valley and The Last Guardian is the same magic it's like a black ball with like a turquoise kind of Halo and symbols all over it so it's the same sort of magic so I I like to think they're all in the same timeline and universe and they all kind of like lead into one another somehow maybe the Last Guardian is way way way before all of this and like people were more prosperous so I I guess this is like wander's given a second chance that he [ __ ] up but he was doing it for love and he did the right thing so even though you did a [ __ ] up thing and released a demon now the Demon's dead so whatever powers that be are like you can have a second shot we'll bring you back to your pure innocence as a baby now lead your life let's see what happens I was like do you think he remembers like she'll remember when she's much older and whatever relationship they had before is all now completely different of course but I wonder if he ever gets to find out what happened what he did who he was in my mind he doesn't I think she grows up and tries to Shield him from everything that happened to just give him a new life maybe she doesn't even take care of him after this maybe she just like drops him off somewhere who knows that would be kind of [ __ ] up though after everything he did to try and resurrect her you also never get to find out how she died what happened to her who she is and I think that that's perfect because whatever you come up with in your own mind is probably better than what the game would ever be able to tell you anyway and leaving it up to your own imagination I I like to think that she's royalty I don't know why I think just her fairness because she's kind of like yorda in the in Eco and yorda and the queen are mother and daughter because the Queen's trying to like siphon off power to keep her youth I could be completely misremembering all of this but I like to think that mono or mono is like connected to that somehow because then it would connect Eco and yorda together a bit more just kind of that parallel and the symbolism for it I like to think she was royalty and he was like a stable boy and they fell in love She's like a princess but something happened to her and she died before her time and because he was so in love with her and being a stable boy would make sense why he's so good with horses and why aggro is so connected to him and then she died and everyone else was like oh no pity and like oh well moving on have a big procession whatever but he's like no I refuse you guys keep talking about this power that can bring people back to life but we shouldn't touch it and I love her so I'm gonna do it that's my theory yeah what a [ __ ] game there's a lot of games that I played that mean a lot to me and I remember very fondly but this this game I can legitimately say completely and fundamentally change my life and that's not even being hyperbolic I think where I was in my life at the time when this game came out and being able to play it just it was like the big bang went off of my brain and it just opened up this whole new world to me of like holy [ __ ] everything isn't as like a to B black and white as I thought it was with games it's like there's so much more to it there's so much more Artistry to it this is the first game I played that really really made me pay attention to the art in a game that you could have characters that didn't have to explain the story to you it was the first thing I had played that was like that I mean I was a big fan of lost already at that point and loved lost a lot and I don't know it just it changed how I perceive things and the types of things that I like and the sort of imagery of like little thing with like a massive scale thing in the background I love that kind of artwork now um and I think all of that spawned from this it kind of like set off a chain reaction in me that everything after that was kind of like pursuing this again and I think that's a big reason I like from soft games as well because it's the same thing where they don't tell you everything it has massive scale it's a post-apocalyptic world that you get into and it's like just go figure it out why I like the games I do now is because of Shadow of the Colossus and that's why I always said it was my favorite game because like bloodborne changed my life as well but not nearly as much a Shadow of the Colossus did and do you have any idea how much money I would give to be able to have like these bloodborne statues that I have in the background like these really high-end like what 18 to 20 inch statues that are really high quality and cost like 800 each do you have any idea how much money I would give to have all 16 Colossus on like a bench over here and just have all those statues and no one makes [ __ ] for Shadow of the Colossus because merch for games wasn't really a thing back then sucks [Music] it's the same with bloodborne actually there's not that much stuff out for bloodborne like these statues sure but there wasn't like a huge merch push for it do you have any idea what it's like to have a favorite two favorite games and not have that much stuff to buy from them it's probably a good thing because I would buy way too many but anyway that was Shadow of
