[Music] [Applause] [Applause] [Applause] in 2013 the Seattle Seahawks became the polished gem of the Emerald City their super bowl-winning journey was a thrill ride that captivated the Pacific Northwest it was an odyssey forged from determination after heartaches spawns home in Atlanta with three minutes to play in the game Seattle needs a touch at an extra point to win this is going to be a heart-stopping folks [Music] [Music] inside the 5-yard line this could be one of the greatest finishes in seahawks history the visiting Seahawks had fully erased a 20-point deficit but ultimately fell short against the Falcons [Music] the Seahawks on one of the most heartbreaking defeats of this or any season watch their magic carpet ride end in Atlanta and the Seahawks with rookie quarterback Russell Wilson are gonna fly back to Seattle knowing they've had a spectacular run and how close how close they can when the game was over I was very disappointed but you know right before I got back to the tunnel walking off the field I got so excited for the next opportunity next year you know looking forward to what we have in the future we have a great football team this is a terrific accomplishment for us because it ain't about how you start fellas it's how you finish and you know that let's be humble man we're just getting started we know this run takes a long time to get it done we just got the first step and it's a great first step the first steps in the Seahawks championship journey came in Charlotte against the eventual NFC South champion Panthers this was a Carolina homecoming for Seattle's Russell Wilson who spent three seasons in the Tar Heel State as a collegiate quarterback Wilson impressed in his return throwing for over 300 yards trailing seven to six in the fourth quarter the Seahawks put together their best drive of the day before connecting on the game-winning strike what a great throw by Russell Wilson but also a more spectacular catch by two bankers that ball was put only where you can get that football and he went up high and made the catch Wow what a hard-fought game by the Seahawks this stadium completely jammed national TV 12th man is going to be on display in the home opener an ear-splitting crowd view the defense determined to disrupt the rival 49ers [Applause] Oh [Applause] [Music] the offense eventually broke open a tight game [Applause] which is gonna take it straight up the middle he's inside the ten [Applause] here comes the Blitz look out [Applause] you see or should stretch this lead Richard Sherman put the cherry on [Applause] confident Seahawks team arrived in Houston but the road to the first four no starting team history would be an uphill battle against the defending AFC South champion Texas yes the Seahawks knew this was going to be tough sledding by 17-point trailing 20 to three in the third quarter the Seahawks needed the defense to restore order and tip the game in their favor and toward the surface of the plate Delia and her own Thomas comes up with the interception [Music] the road back began with a 98-yard drive early in the fourth quarter he's going he gets the first down running to the near side Russell Wilson has taken this offense on his back there goes our shot he's gonna walk in untouched they are an extra point away from making this a seven-point game [Music] [Applause] then eventual League interception leader Richard Sherman picked the Texans pocket [Music] 20 unanswered points to tie it up here in the fourth [Applause] in overtime the defense stopped a pair of Houston drives to set up kicker Stephen housecoat for the game-winning points [Music] this may be one of the greatest comebacks in the history of SEAL history's franchise what we gonna do Heidi go back let's be good do whatever take scope in Indianapolis the Seahawks used all phasers to jump to an early lead on the eventual AFC South champion points [Music] [Music] Mack if he takes the special teams how did they come ready to play today curse wide to the far side just gonna lay up [Music] reaches a spectacular [Music] in a game that featured multiple lead changes the Colts scored 17 to the final 20 points to knock Seattle from the ranks of the unbeaten it would be more than two months until the Seahawks lost again the Seahawks needed a strong performance from the defense to get back on track against the Titans I guess either each Scout report Seattle trampled the Titans behind 155 beastly all-purpose yards and two touchdowns from Marshawn Lynch [Music] [Music] as the Seahawks win so Wilson has never lost 11 straight games hey Greg fight right there fell that's how we need to play man let's keep let's keep working big game this weekend FC West let's go to work hey what's next what's next on three one in the Valley of the Sun Pete Carroll warmly greeted the travelling fans of Seahawk nation then watched his team turn up the heat against Arizona [Applause] [Music] while Tate's touchdown didn't count the defense's seven sacks did as Seattle grounded the Cardinals Arizona's struggled to find the end zone no such problem for Russell Wilson now rolling to the right feet chased by two Cardinals fires deep for rice near side of the endzone touchdown [Music] Willson matched his jersey number in touchdown passes while connecting with nine different Seahawk receivers the Thursday night wind strengthened the Hawks hold on the NFC West Seattle would face a far tougher divisional test on Monday Night Football a rugged Rams defense contain nearly all the Seahawks skill players except for Golden Tate Tate accounted for both of Seattle scores including the go-ahead touchdown in the third quarter but he is into the endzone for a touchdown that's his career long and 80 yards touchdown perception and boy a huge play even after giving up the longest play of the Seahawks season the Rams wouldn't go away until a seattle goal line stand finally settled matters in the closing seconds [Music] go Seahawks defense easy would you remind him of one thing that it's just football because sometimes he forgets that stuff you don't listen to me all the time so Mike you remind him that it's just football in pro football an Owen 17 should be pushovers for a seven and one opponent but in the first half the winless bucks dominated Seattle in base defense wait we make Seahawks trail 21 to nothing even for a real ballgame boys these guys are plenty good enough plenty good [Music] here we go here we go in the game's final 32 minutes the Seahawks methodically clawed their way back crafting a comeback of epic proportions [Music] inside he's got see y'all swing back to the line of scrimmage there's a snap to Russell he's got his own read comes down [Applause] - get it done that is the way it takes a long time sometimes it took all the way to Ooty I'll tell you means my I'm emotional about it you competed so freaking hard you would not take it you would not take that as a loss you would not let that happen she just freakin did next on Seattle's to-do list was payback to the Falcons team that had knocked him out of the 2012 playoffs Atlanta learned the hard way that revenge is best served in beast mode Marshawn Lynch and friends pounded out more than 200 rushing yards as the Hawks southern thrive the Falcons [Music] and when they weren't running through Atlanta backs like number 22 Robert Urban kept the passing pocket clean for Russell Wilson Wilson made easy pickings of the dirty Birds as the Seahawks racked up 490 yards their season-high in total offense [Music] against Minnesota all-pro Corner Richard Sherman draped blanket coverage on Viking receivers while also peppering the playing field with stinging one-liners [Music] you're sorry listen wasting my time it's a waste of my time it's a waste of time right here sorry just when the lack of competition threatened to put Sherman to sleep the explosive return of an injured teammate caught his attention percy harvin showcased to seattle a tantalizing glimpse of his talent at the expense of his former team [Applause] first what do you ever got no 58 ill yeah Seattle's other playmakers also made Minnesota miserable by the two shortest guys on the field right now but just came out with one of the biggest plays in the football game [Music] [Music] what was that a little end zone for virtually the entire first half by contrast the first two touchdowns of the afternoon were both scored by Seattle [Applause] can we go get it can we go get it man can we stop playing can we go get [Music] play-doh some stop fires got a man Luke will throw across the ground 20:55 Luke Wilson on a crossing route from 39 out and the Seahawks go back on top but the Hawks weren't able to keep their seven-game winning streak alive San Francisco took its first lead just before half-time then won the game in the final seconds San Francisco wins over Seattle here in the Bay Area for the playoffs loom on the horizon for Seattle and they can still with two wins in these last three games claim home-field advantage throughout the playoffs we may see this team before this is all over again next was an all-expenses-paid trip to the Meadowlands the site for Super Bowl xlviii the Seahawks made themselves very much at home by demolishing the New York Giants Wow what extra after by Marshawn Lynch the Seattle's secondary spent the day making life miserable for a quarterback named manic a scenario they'd happily repeat in February Manning throws it up Richard Sherman is there the ball is intercepted by Sherman Mannix for the letter flies too far Paula slapped up here intercepted that's the fifth interception of the day Seattle best record in the NFC will they come back to bed life stadium to play in the Super Bowl they certainly look Super Bowl ready [Applause] [Music] a Cardinals club with playoff aspirations and revenge on its mind look to put a damper on Seattle's other team had accomplished in nearly two years [Applause] Seattle's 14 game home winning streak what this does is it turns all of our focus to the next week like I told these guys gonna tell me I'd game with playoff home-field advantage at stake Seattle took charge early and never let up dear sidecut take [Music] everybody's coming here this January from CenturyLink Field it is the NFC divisional playoff matchups the Seahawks the winners of the NFC West hosting the New Orleans Saints here for the opportunity to go on to the NFC Championship the Seahawks had earned the NFC's top seed on the strength of a defense pace by Pro Bowlers Richard Sherman kam chancellor and Earl Thomas those Saints were in for a rough day against Seattle's aptly named secondary [Applause] the NFL's number one ranked defense kept New Orleans powerhouse attack off the scoreboard for most of the afternoon [Applause] [Music] the ball was intended for Jimmy Graham Thomas jump right over his back a second quarter Seahawks takeaway led to the game's first touchdown [Applause] very little the Seahawks say they got the ball [Music] the harsh elements of the Pacific Northwest proved a severe obstacle for the Saints but the wind and rain had little effect on a Seahawks offense strapped to the back of Marshawn Lynch for the Saints 15 [Applause] a fourth-quarter New Orleans touchdown cuts Seattle's lead in half now the Hawks defense needed to slow the Saints momentum [Music] [Applause] [Applause] strive for throws full of this completed histogram world Thomas comes over the top to knock it down my man I want to make sure let's take this is just this step though is that right we all know that it's just step is a hell the first a first step in the playoffs but we're just getting warmed up we got young quarterback to come in there and make up our life and the Seahawks take the lead the legion of boom lowered the boom in the fourth quarter [Music] [Applause] the Seahawks forced turnovers on two straight possessions and led by six in the final minutes [Music] try me let's try me I'm Kevlar you're gonna win San Francisco had time enough for one final drive needing a touchdown to win the Seahawks most bitter rival was not going to go down without a fight [Applause] [Music] the Niners decided to target the league's top cornerback a defender they'd avoided all day [Applause] dear side first downs but once again the Seahawks couldn't quite reach the endzone despite being dominated the highest-scoring team in NFL history trailed by only single digits in the first quarter the Broncos managed just tenten passing yards Denver didn't make a single first down and turned the ball over [Applause] again [Applause] personally we have come to the end of the first border Seattle ate them for nothing [Applause] water barrel open and die that's why you gotta throw the ball he was open he hit you between the novel okay keep eating completely over maximize this it's been all Seahawks so far Peyton Manning has barely had time to get on the field now flying across the formation taking a handoff right to left Percy Harvin get the watchbirds upfield 30 second time we've seen that play lord have mercy inside the redzone it looked as if Denver would hold the Hawks to another field goal [Applause] he was pushed as that ball got there the Seahawks are gonna be looking at the ball first and gold I like in the Vixen under center the turn the handle it what's the Running Room [Applause] [Music] [Applause] they can't peyton manning tried to wave off the sharks on the Seahawks defense but there was no escape Seattle's ability to pressure Manning with its front core allowed the rest of the defense to hit whatever can its way make it one per turn every yard they did it took the Broncos 14 plays and over eight minutes to travel a mere 49 yards it took only one play to undo it all [Applause] [Music] [Applause] what happened was Denver's right tackle being overpowered by number 56 cliff Abril who's hit on many set up the signature moment of Super Bowl xlviii [Applause] [Music] though dominant the defense spent most of the second quarter on the field as halftime approached Manning drove Denver deep into Seahawks territory where he faced a fourth and two [Applause] whooping make ass like it was longer scared of them hard listen we gotta have a great second half get your mind to and then let's go be world champion let's go be world champion over here and to see officer here go into the halftime with a big lead you think we were in Seattle [Applause] the Broncos faced an uphill climb that only grew steeper on the opening kickoff of the second half [Applause] [Applause] [Applause] the worst start next week of the answer kicked the pooch punt your hopefully bobbled it but it messes up cover lanes leaving a huge opening in the middle of the field there's no way that grader is tackling percy harvin in the open field and no one's catching him from behind [Applause] let's go [Applause] for now with three turnovers in this game I'll tell you what couldn't get much worse man it has been the biggest disaster I've ever seen him one hey keep it all keep it all keep it
