Screen Replacement with Mocha in After Effects 2020

hey hello and welcome to this need to talk about promotion well actually this otário isn't that many because today it's all about motion tracking with Roca but what's new is that mocha is not plugging in after them so basically all the only tutorials don't work anymore I'm going to show you how to get the basic tracking value with mo conde after events so let's start this one from scratch I've already imported a small clip that I a shot and this is me holding a smartphone and I've just loaded an image of a tracking marker and there are apps out there that you can also get for free where you have different tracking markers to choose from and different background colors so nothing special so far next thing that I have done just bring this out here is a smartphone background and when I open up this composition you can see this is just a screenshot that I took off my smartphone with the motion tracking lettering on it so nothing special so far so now let's open up mocha which now is a plugin and not a standalone version anymore so I'm going to guide you through all the steps you need to take care of when tracking with the plugin so I'm just dragging it onto the background clip with and for that we just click the mocha button and we get a warning that we are set to a half resolution only and this is because if I would click on continue then mocha would just use half the resolution for a faster result but I want to cancel that and I want a benefit of the full resolution of this clip so now when I click a mocha it will directly take me and if you're not seeing that screen at the beginning it could be that you're on a different working space so for example the classic one or the works place especially for road owing but we are going with the essentials and this is super easy we just want to track the tracking marker so I'm just taking this rectangle tool here bring it out and then I'm only going to adjust the edges here so for that I'm also going to click on perspective because I'm tilting the smartphone quite a lot so let's just start with the tracking and click on track forward and straightaway you can see that it has done a really nice job and you could always check that by clicking on the surface tool here I'm just going to align it to the surface of the whole smartphone here basically those four corners represent the four corner pins of the corner pin effect later on that we are going to use so you can directly check how accurate your track is and even better you can click on the grid and then you have a visual representation and let's just play this and you can see the is doing a pretty good job but let me quickly show you how you can how you can refine this track this is super easy just go to the classic overview and here you have the adjust track button so just be aware that you used that once you have done the tracking and have worked with the Alliant surface tool now we go to a DHS track and that brings out four red crosses and I can now look for parts in the image and in this case I'm really just taking the edges and try to align them as good as possible and I can also use those buttons here so I mark the cross that I want to move and then I can go up down left or right okay and then I go to the last frame try to align this as good as possible and later on MOCA will use that to refine the track that we have already done and this is really great because in that way you can really knock down the track to the pixel and when I threw up through this now you can see pretty perfectly stays where it is supposed to stay so what I'm going to do now is I'm going to the first frame I'm just going to align it to the full frame so in other words I want to have the corner pins not on the smartphone display but I want to have the corner pins in the corners of the frame and there's a button for that also in the essentials which is called expand the planar surface of selected layers to fill the entire frame and when I click that you can see that it is now full frame save this and close it and we are back in After Effects so now everything is set up for the first frame my smartphone background of course is set up for the first frame and it is full frame so now let's do the same thing with the smartphone you see this is too big at the moment so I'm using corner pin basically to bring it into the right position okay now we're set up for the first frame but not completely because as I told you everything needs to have the same frame size and the smartphone background doesn't have the exact same frame size so how can we do that of course there's an easy way to do that we go to layer pre-compose and we move all attributes in the new composition and just click OK and now this layer has the same dimensions as our background and the same dimensions as we defined in mocha perfect perfect perfect so now let's go back to our plugin we want to have the tracking data so therefore we need to create tracking data so we click that button and we choose that one layer that we have just tracked and by default it is already chosen as you can see by this wheel here and we click OK and we want to use corner pin data and there are two ways one without motion blur and one with motion blur and I don't see any reason why we should not add motion blur to this so we just choose it define our layer we want to have the smartphone background well maybe that's kind of a stupid name so I'll just call it the screen and we want to add the screen to the smartphone background and hit apply and nothing happened and this is because now the corner pins are exactly in the corners remember we have set up the Blue Square that it is for the first frame exactly in the coroners and from there on everything should work when I'm just giving this a quick playback and let's just turn on motion blur this should look pretty good and I hope you aren't afraid of screen replacements and more because you have seen that this can be achieved in a really easy and simple way and this was a quick and easy way to get your first creamy replacement done I hope you had a little bit of fun and learned something today and if you had then
