an artist and musicians composers sit down route knocked away by the defense that was knocked away by mark anderson the rest of that defense jaylon mcgee lucio rodriguez jordan monroe was listed as a starter he is out mark anderson will be in there jesse cannazales the secondary jalen thornton ray gosa leads this team with four interceptions cayden spends is that balls run out into the flat and southern california bowl went to the high school level palm desert high school they won their first desert valley league title in 1997 was 12-1 in o5 he's bounced around was the college of the desert for their best season ever in 2007 they went 9-1 talking to him on the phone this week he said my busy biggest success is not wins it's kids and academics it's getting kids to the next level i'm going the left side little half roll that ball is deflected and almost intercepted the ball was deflected by a man with a club on his hand that's number 28 that is key rodriguez two guys with clubs on their hands rodriguez one of them the other one is lucio rodriguez so third and tenth for the roadrunners seal back to pass pressure comes that's tipped again and that is intercepted by that is rodriguez and he one-handed that so the ball was tipped rodriguez grabs it with his left hand and the lancers are in business again at the 40-yard line of the roadrunners [Music] so just under 13 minutes here to go in the first quarter and the lancers have an opportunity to put more points on the board as they are at the 40-yard line of the roadrunners in the shotgun hands it off but maybe norton up the middle they're going to run a variation of the veer and in my opinion the veer is probably the most difficult offense to stop because there is so much misdirection there is so much going on and it is easy to deceive so you have to be very very disciplined if you are a defensive player so you're going gonna see a lot of motion jabari kindle came in motion there's one guy in the backfield that's norton in motion again jet sweep but wentz keeps it goes up the middle and he gets about seven on the season wentz 50 carries 184 yards and according to coach steptoe this young man can run the ball he can throw it he can run it 58 of his passes as a local kid went to san marino high school so smith and kendall out here to wentz is right in motion comes austria and he's going to fake the handoff and wentz keeps it again and he gets enough for the first down [Music] brook stevenson on the tackle freshman from palm desert high school motion again that's austria hand it off to norton up the middle and he's gonna get about two and a lot of times with the veer what happens is the quarterback is going to just let one guy go they're going to leave one guy unblocked and what the quarterback does is he reads the unblocked guy if the unblocked guy goes to the ball you'll see the quarterback keep it or he will pitch it if the unblocked guy stays and with the quarterback or the pitch he will hand it off he's got time over the middle got his guy that's a touchdown another touchdown for the lancers that's wheeler smith on the seam route from wence from 25. so that is wence's ninth touchdown pass of the season and in for the extra point is contreras again the lefty good snap good hold good kick 14-0 lancers so a couple of 25-yard touchdown passes from wence the first one to kindle the a lot of high school games and he was explaining this to me that there are 38 teams in the scfa and the level of football is very very good as that will be returned at starting at the 15 out to the 20 and ten inside lancer territory that ball is handed off to kepler and kepler forges ahead for about 2. seal back to pass fires the ball out on the on the little sit-down route that's out to that's number seven that's kevin johnson another good size receiver 6-2 205. he's got 13 catches on the year a couple touchdowns so seal marching the roadrunners down in motion and hand it off across the formation goes kepler and he barrels ahead for about 12. kepler on the year only 38 yards on 15 carries so good sized young man from palm springs high school and he's brought down by spence seal directing traffic looks back looks goes that way goes right and that ball is thrown well away from johnson johnson went in seal through it out so that will bring up second and ten goes in motion ball is thrown out to him but that is thrown high that would have been his second reception on the season and running out to cover him was lucio rodriguez rodriguez with a cast on his hand so third and 10 efficiency is only 27 they are 11 of 41 on the season however when they get in the red zone where they are right now they are nine of 12. eight of those scores are touchdowns so when they get in there in and i i don't know why high schools have fans all the colleges have fans and i i don't know why the junior this i specifically maybe something with the school but i am not one to guess all right kelly once again proved that he is not a big game coach as the fighting irish loss to cincinnati today and i say that as a notre dame fan oklahoma state up on baylor michigan state took care of western kentucky that's not a shock georgia hammered arkansas as that ball is fielded and brought out beyond the 20 to the 25 to the 30. that's kindle he fakes his way up field to the 40-yard line so that'll bring up third and about seven robert tucker his 27th he is the 27th head coach in the 96 years that pasadena city college has had football and his record is is it's nothing short of amazing and there's a there's a penalty oh free play so wentz is going to go deep he's got smith and that ball is tipped and dropped by smith so we have a penalty so it'll be offsides on the roadrunners so that'll that'll give them five so that'll bring up third and two but coach tucker went 30 and three over three years with three consecutive bowl championships in 2014 he took over west hills they were two and eight he took them and they went 10-1 they hosted their first bowl game in 32 years he won the american division bowl championship and was also coach of the year in 2015 valley college was three and seven he took over went nine and two in a bowl win ended a 19-year drought for the monarchs kendall in motion whence fakes keeps hits the middle goes nowhere in 2016 valley college had their first ever perfect season they were the only undefeated team in the state that year tucker was named the apl coach of the year and the ccc fca region 4 coach of the year it's been 13 years since pasadena city college was in a bowl game and 20 since their last conference championship and the team was dormant for a while due to covid so it's it's their first game in 22 months september 4th of this year was their first game in 22 months so good to see football being back here at pasadena city college as wence hands off to norton and he hits the hole and he gets enough for the first down and he's still going very hard to bring him down 6-1 225 pounder from southgate high school coach tucker spent some time at uc davis oregon boise state colorado so he's got got a lot of college coaching experience at a lot of different levels told me on the phone this afternoon he said we are really a community team there are teams that are junior college teams he said this is a community team most of their guys they don't recruit a lot out of state they're from this area as austria goes in motion fake he's got smith but he gets hit and that ball is fumbled and picked up that is picked up by number 59 and he is going to be wrestled out of bounds right around the 20-yard line that's dylan baimer the 255 pound sophomore do we have that on replay so let's take a look and see but brought down gets the first down that's kevin johnson johnson 6-2 205-pound freshman got to go down and get it and he's wrestled to the ground so it's first and goal from the eight yard line bunch formation for seal and he's tapping the center on the right hip that's gonna be pitched out to the outside the five into the end zone for the touchdown that is that's number five that's caleb bryant as bryant takes it in from five yards out bryant on the season 10 carries 52 yards and you just see it's a foot race into the end zone and that is his first touchdown of the season levy in to try the extra point good snap good hold good kick so pasadena city college scores the first two touchdowns levy comes back with a field goal on the turnover bryant then takes it in from five yards out we've got ourselves a ballgame here 14 to 10. so levy will kick off and back to receive for the lancers is justin campbell and jabari kindle short kick will be fielded right around the 11 yard line finds a seam he's at the 35 he's at the 40. 45 50. he's got no one to beat that one man to beat and he does he's at the 20-10 touchdown justin campbell 90 yards for justin campbell well here it is it's a short kick he takes it he does a great job finds the seam cuts back and once he does that nobody's going to catch him off to the races 90 yards later campbell's into the end zone for the touchdown so we have an injured road runner that's number 29 that is marcus turner a freshman from needles high school so he's up and limping favoring that right knee that right leg so we will not speculate on the injury but contreras will come in for the p.a.t to try and put the lancers up by 11. injured player for the roadrunners number 29 marcus turner waiting for turner to make his way to the sidelines to get attention from the medical staff christian contreras to try the extra point so contreras will put his left foot into it and he does and he extends the lead to 11. 304 left here in the first quarter we got a lot of points on the board the lancers up 21 to 10. triggered [Music] will put his left foot into it so it's an onsite kick and the lancers are trying to recover it and i believe they do see if we can get the number of who recovered that that looks like number 81 that is spencer white so the front line just goes back and spencer white falls on the ball a gutsy move by coach tucker carolina so third and thirteen we'll see what wentz does this defense is a a 3-3 stack they play a lot of man and a lot of cover one blitz comes and they get him too many guys come not enough to block and he's brought down by hudson water freshman from phoenix arizona so a huge loss will force the lancers to punt and back to receive is katsuo steward good snap a little rugby style kick but it's shanked and that will go out of bounds right at the 47-48 yard line so college of the desert the roadrunners will have the ball inside of lancer territory with a minute to go here in the first quarter 12 yards a desert ball first the lancer is 48. seal barking out signals two guys in the backfield robinson and kapler looks to pass goes out into the flat got his guy got the first down that's robinson or no i'm sorry that's johnson kevin johnson number seven just a quick one-step drop get the ball out to your guy your athletes and he gets cover the coverage is soft so you shorten your route a little bit run that out and you get good yardage as kepler's ding for a loss of about two good penetration by that defense that's number 30 jesse cannazales freshman from las vegas so second and twelve low snap but we may have oh it's gonna be a false start so they're gonna back the road runners up five it looked like the left tackle and that xavier floor is six for 250. so that will be brook stevenson so a gain of six so second and four for wentz slots to both sides for wentz norton in the backfield hand off faked bubble screen caught out in the flat and dragged and got a gain of about eight trying to get the number that's that's kindle kendall in the first quarter had a had a touchdown reception one catch one touchdown so the lancers pick up the first down they're at their own 35. just starting the second quarter and they have an 11 point lead went slant pattern got his guy first down gets that to justin campbell a couple touchdowns on the season for campbell coming right at you in your living room campbell on the slant pattern nice throw by wence campbell gets the first down wence rolls gonna get a flag maybe a hold once has this guy deep down the middle he's got him and he's knocked down at the 15-yard line but that's gonna come back it's gonna be a hold against the lancers deep down field was campbell and there you see that's a great view from our end four so that brings up second and six just under nine minutes to go here in the first half lancers leading 21 to 10. play action going to the corners got kindle just out of the reach defended on the play by number 27 patrick zamora javari kendall zamora's got a couple of interceptions on the year he had him just out of his reach though so third and six from the 20 or just inside the 20. call it middle linebackers if the middle linebackers go with austria then what he's going to do is he's going to keep it if he sees them stay he's going to give it to austria because the linebackers if they're playing that man-to-man type defense their linebackers somebody's going to have austria so what he's doing is he's reading to see what happens with the defense as austria comes across that formation there's a rugby scrum in the middle that norton in the middle of it with the ball brook stevenson llama number 88. yeah just run hit the middle so third and five third and four from the new quarterback in the game i believe try to get the number by quarterback number 13 caesar vela in at quarterback number 13 on the year velus 17 of 30 throwing the ball 155 yards and a touchdown 13 carries 112 yards so he can get it done with his feet as well kepler goes in motion and valen decides to keep and he surges forward for about five so a quarterback change for jack steptoe and the roadrunners don't know why carlos ramirez did not see anything wrong with seal brings up a third down so velar the freshman from rancho mirage high school takes over this offense two backs in the backfield robinson and carry on and the lefty swings it out but the knee is down and that will be a dead ball see the knee go down so college rule knee goes down play is dead so that's a loss of two and that was thrown out to donald johnson so fourth down smith back to receive for the lancers ten guys coming good kick high spiral wheeler settles under it drops the ball picked up by the roadrunners but were they in bounds or did it go out of bounds see if we can see something on on the maybe on the end zone replay either way it's going to be road runner ball at the lancer 49 so does it matter what we see or what we say it is lancer ball or allow i'm sorry road runner ball veil is still in at quarterback bunch formation to the right blitz coming the ball is pitched throwback vela jabari kendall so levy line drives it that's picked up by campbell he looks to get outside and he does to the 40 to the 50. for the 45 and he has run out of bounds right around the 40-yard line so two to one pasadena 1945-1015 they are three of nine on third downs college of the desert was o of five and great stat three of four on fourth downs as we get the kickoff and that has brought he's hit the 45-50 and he's gonna get run out of bounds at the 45-yard line and that may be not late but a hard hit out of bounds so college of the desert will take over and there you see the return and yes he knew he was gonna get hit smith up to the top campbell down to the bottom smith low little play action but you just see the ball just skipped had one-on-one coverage the defensive back gave him the inside that's tchaikovsky brown so smith kindle and austria to the right campbell down here at the bottom norton in the backfield pressure coming wentz goes down pressure came pressure got there very quickly heston wayner 6-1 225 pound freshman watch warner come from the middle on a little stunt great job lined up over the guard maybe they didn't see him and what he did was he came forward and then he went around the guard that was number 64. the the offensive guard that's robert vargas but vargas was blocking down and water saw that came around it brought wentz down fourth and long and wentz is gonna quick kick and that will go into the end zone so the roadrunners will take over at their own 21-yard line nine 9 42 left here in the third quarter with the lancers up 28-17 foreign lsu steptoe's rotating him quick throw out to the flat and very near the first down is number four that's tyler burton burton in the slot just goes a little bit backwards runs the bubble and gets all anybody's listening back in 1978 bucky dent a very very tiny shortstop hit a three-run homer in a one-game playoff off mike torres of the red sox the yankees were some like 14 games behind the red sox in july of that year it came back beat the red sox in a one game playoff because bucky dent whose nickname was given to him by red sox fans which i can't pronounce hit that home run and the yankees went on to win the world series as norton takes it around the end but the baseball playoffs will start on wednesday with the wild card games looks like the dodgers will host the cardinals but that american league east is very tight as of right now if you're a baseball fan if you care boston and the yankees are tied toronto is a game back the yankees are playing the rays tomorrow the red sox are playing the nationals as we have whistles and the blue jays are playing the orioles so the way it looks to me is the blue jays will probably win tomorrow because the orioles are 50 games out so it will be interesting the last day of the baseball season and the big one in the nfl tom brady returns to new england how will the reunion with bill belichick go will they shake hands will they hug will they high five who will win that the bucks or the pats will the pat fans boo or cheer tom brady [Music] so fourth down for the lancers fourth in about seven [Music] wentz finds austria got the first so it will beat road runner ball right around the 10 yard line the ball will be placed at the spot of illegal touching by the kicking team the ball will be at that spot first down so seal will come in back 90 yards bryant brought it to 21-17 then smith hauled in a 30-yard pass from wence and we were 28-17 at halftime then brian had a two-yard run brought it to 28-23 and smith with a 65-yard
