and to you my brothers and sisters that i have greatly sinned in my thoughts and in my words in what i have done and what i have failed to do through my fault through my fault through my most grievous faults therefore i ask blessed mary ever virgin all the angels and saints and you my brothers and sisters to pray for me to the lord our god may almighty god have mercy on us forgive us our sins and bring us to everlasting life amen [Music] a let us pray almighty ever living god look with compassion on our weakness and ensure us your protection by stretching forth the right hand of your majesty through our lord jesus christ your son who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the holy spirit one god forever and ever amen a reading from the book of the prophet isaiah thus says the lord if you remove from your midst oppression false accusation and malicious speech if bestow your bread on the hungry and satisfy the afflicted then light shall raise for you in darkness and the gloom shall become for you like midday then the lord will guide you always and give you plenty even on the parched land he will renew your strength and you shall be like a watered garden like a spring whose water never fails the ancient ruins shall be rebuilt for your sake and the foundations from ages past you shall raise up repair of the breach they shall call you restorer of the ruined homesteads if you hold back your foot on the sabbath from following your own pursuits on my holy day if you call the sabbath a delight and the lord's holy day honorable if you honor it by not following your ways seeking in your own interests or speaking with malice then you shall delight in the lord and i will make you ride on the heights of the earth i will nourish you with the heritage of jacob your father for the mouth of the lord has spoken the word of the lord teach me your way o lord that i may walk in your truth teach me your way o lord that i may walk in your truth incline your ear o lord answer me for i am afflicted and poor keep my life for i am devoted to you save your servant who trusts in you you are my god teach me your way o lord that i may walk in your truth have mercy on me o lord for to you i call all the day gladden the soul of your servant for to you o lord i lift up my soul teach me my way o lord that i may walk in your truth for you o lord are good and forgiving abounding in kindness to all who call upon you hearken o lord to my prayer and attend to the sound of my pleading teach me your way o lord that i may walk in your truth [Music] lord jesus christ glory [Music] i take no pleasure in the death of the wicked man this is the lord but rather in his conversion that he may live lord jesus christ [Music] the lord be with you a reading from the holy gospel according to luke jesus saw attacked collector named levi sitting at the customs post he said to him follow me and leaving everything behind he got up and followed him then levi gave a great banquet for him and his house and a large crowd of tax collectors and others were at table with them the pharisees and their scribes complained to his disciples saying why do you eat and drink with tax collectors and sinners jesus said unto them in reply those who are healthy do not need a physician but the sick do i have not come to call the righteous to repentance but sinners the gospel of the lord we are in this season of repentance of renewal of being as we always should open to god's mercy so that we may have him come and save us with his grace that we always need so much to truly be the people we are meant to be and two things need to happen for that to really occur as we hear in today's gospel first of all we have to acknowledge that jesus is the savior and that jesus christ the son of god has come to renew the face of the earth to renew our hearts to renew our souls that he has died and risen for us to be able to have the new life not only that we need here on earth when we fall into sin and darkness but also of course to have the eternal life that we are created to have for ever and so we want to know that jesus is our savior but then the second thing that really needs to happen is that we have to acknowledge the fact that we need a savior that we are uh like he says here sick in one way of another in our soul and that we need this position of our soul to come and heal us and so when if if we don't acknowledge him as savior and at the same time acknowledge ourselves as needing a savior then we we are missing the point because we can maybe acknowledge him and savior but thinking we don't need him in and that is is wrong or we might acknowledge ourselves as sinners but feeling despair and then that would be wrong too and also let us remember that he says these words i have not come to call the righteous to repentance but sinners he was telling this to the pharisees that were complaining with the fact that he was eating with sinners and tax collectors and let us not make a mistake and think that he was calling the pharisees righteous he was calling uh he was just saying i called i come to call the righteous uh to repentance not the righteous but sinners but the pharisees were far from being righteous and he knew this the pharisees did not see it that way because they considered themselves perfect but but they perhaps even much more than many of these other people that were the banquet needed a savior and had a disease in their soul of self-righteousness and spiritual pride that much more needed the savior than many of these people so the point there is that when he says these words he has come to call the righteous in essence no one is really righteous or perfect without him therefore he has come to call all of us a hundred percent of us because we all at some level over or another need a physician of our soul so let us never think okay we have the savior but i'm fine i'm pretty righteous in my life so therefore i don't really need him to to heal me and to save me we have to acknowledge first and foremost that even if we are trying our best even if he's already done great healing in our lives and and we've come to become much better versions of ourselves than we used to be there is always more in our growth of holiness and perfection and there is always more that the position of our souls can do within us so let us allow him to and let us come as we come as we should always come humbly to anyone that we are to a doctor to anyone that we're seeking advice or help for let us all the more come humbly to him acknowledging that we need him to come and heal us from our sinfulness that we need to come and save us from all of the darkness of our life and let us always know that one day we might be healthier than others and some days we might need more of a decision than other days but he is always there with us and we should humbly always know that we will always need him god bless you and now let us ask our heavenly father to help us with all of our needs let us pray for the church may always be a source of god's forgiveness and healing through the sacraments that jesus christ has given us let us pray to the lord lord hear our prayer let us pray for peace especially for peace in the ukraine that there may be an end to the darkness and violence that we are all witnessing and for a conversion that all that need the savior to heal them to heal for for a conversion may be open to it we pray to the lord lord hear our prayer let us pray for all who are sick and suffering for all who are going through any financial difficulties for anyone who is going through trials whom we promised our prayers to we pray to the lord lord hear our prayer and let us pray for all who have died we especially pray for cardinal ligand who we've been celebrating his anniversary of death that he may as long with all the other souls be rejoicing in heaven let us pray to the lord lord hear our prayer heavenly father we thank you for your love and we thank you for sending us jesus to bring us that love and mercy that we need for our souls to be healed and for all for us to be delivered from darkness we ask you to help us to acknowledge him as our savior and us as in need desperately of a savior we ask you to help us with this and with all of our needs we should present to you each day in the name of jesus christ our lord amen amen [Music] [Music] pray brothers and sisters that this my sacrifice and yours may be acceptable to god our almighty father may the lord accept the sacrifice at your hands for the praise and glory of his name for our good and the good of all his holy church accept we pray o lord the sacrifice of conciliation and praise and grant that cleansed by its working we may offer minds well pleasing to you through christ our lord amen the lord be with you and with your spirit lift up your hearts we lift them up to the lord let us give thanks to the lord our god it is right and just it is truly right and just our duty and our salvation always and everywhere to give you thanks lord holy father almighty and eternal god for you have given your children a sacred time for the renewing and purifying of their hearts that freed from disordered affections they may so deal with the things of this passing world as to hold rather to the things that eternally endure and so with all the angels and saints we praise you as without end we acclaim [Music] foreign [Music] of your glory [Music] is [Music] was [Music] you are indeed holy o lord the fount of all holiness make holy therefore these gifts we pray by sending down your spirit upon them like the dewfall so that they may become for us the body and blood of our lord jesus christ at the time he was betrayed and entered willingly into his passion he took bread and giving thanks broke it and gave it to his disciples saying take this all of you and eat of it for this is my body which will be given up for you [Music] in a similar way when supper was ended he took the chalice and once more giving thanks he gave it to his disciples saying take this all of you and drink from it for this is the chalice of my blood the blood of the new and eternal covenant which will be poured out for you and for many for the forgiveness of sins do this in memory of me [Music] [Music] the mystery of faith [Music] until [Music] therefore as we celebrate the memorial of his death and resurrection we offer you lord the bread of life and the chalice of salvation giving thanks that you have held us worthy to be in your presence and ministered to you humbly we pray that partaking of the body and blood of christ we may be gathered into one by the holy spirit remember lord your church spread throughout the world and bring her to the fullness of charity together with francis our pope and timothy our bishop and all the clergy remember all remember your servant edward cardinal egan whom you have called from this world to yourself grant that he who was united with your son in a death like his may also be one with him in his resurrection remember all our brothers and sisters who have fallen asleep in the hope of the resurrection and all who have died in your mercy welcome them into the light of your face have mercy on us all we pray that with the blessed virgin mary mother of god with blessed joseph her spouse with the blessed apostles saint patrick and all the saints who have pleased you throughout the ages we may merit to be coheirs to eternal life and may praise and glorify you through your son jesus christ through him and with him and in him oh god almighty father in the unity of the holy spirit all glory and honor is yours forever and ever [Music] at the savior's command and formed by divine teaching we dare to say our father who art in heaven hallowed be thy name thy kingdom come thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven give us this day our daily bread and forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us and lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil deliver us lord we pray from every evil graciously grant peace in our days that by the help of your mercy we may be always free from sin and safe from all distress as we await the blessed hope and the coming of our savior jesus christ for the kingdom the power and the glory are yours now and forever lord jesus christ who said unto your apostles peace i leave you my peace i give you look not on our sins but on the faith of your church and graciously grant her peace and unity in accordance with your will who live and reign for ever and ever amen the peace of the lord be with you always and with your spirit let us offer each other the sign of peace [Music] is [Music] is is [Music] behold the lamb of god
