RTX 2060 | Red Dead Redemption 2 - 1080p, 1440p, 4K + DLSS

hello guys crispy and welcome back to another video this one my friends i'm going to be testing a geforce rtx 2066 gigabyte in red dead redemption 2. this one is the palette model of the card dual fan edition we are running it with the latest nvidia drivers as usual and i'm not overclocking the card you can see all of its specs here in tech powerups gpuz released back in 2019 it has 1920 cuda cores six gigs of gddr6 and it's a pci express 3.0 time 16 gpu and finally over on the left we're pairing it with a ryzen 9 5900x and 32 gigabytes of ram to avoid cpu bottlenecks but you should get around the same fps if you pair it with like a ryzen 5 3600 or an i5 10 400 f for example as well as 16 gigabytes of ram and dual channel let's get into it now shall we let's go over the settings first i'm playing at 1080p resolution and we're also going to test this one at 1440p and 4k using the lss and without it as well and we are utilizing the hardware unboxed optimized settings these settings are optimized for the best visuals to performance ratio so i really recommend them because they look great and they still perform really really well especially compared to like ultra settings all right we're getting 70s and 80s i actually thought we'd get more in these fps but that's all right it's very very playable for a single player title obviously i'm going to start counting our fps here and i need to go to strawberry because a lot of you say that strawberry is the most intensive city in this game and i have no idea what it is actually there it is i found it seems to be a pretty small city right like only a couple of buildings here what the hell all right we're gonna go there and check it out see and compare it a little bit to this area where i usually make the benchmarks in and uh all right it's looking fantastic here on these headaches i have every single time dude okay let's move out of here now actually we need to kill bob first obviously no video is ever good without killing bob so we're gonna do that first wow look at this this lighting this game is absolutely gorgeous the textures could be a little bit better here uh but you know aside from that it's still at 1080p of course at higher resolutions it will look even better um but yeah it is it is really really impressive it's dropping into the 60s right now in bob's area because well that bastard lowers our fps every single time where is he by the way i don't see him it's the first or second time that he is not here actually uh if it dropped into the 60s here by the way a lot of people told me that it will definitely drop from 60 in strawberry so this should be interesting to check out now it's a really really long wait what the hell alright so uh i guess i'll see you there shut up shut up roach i don't have time for your bs okay this is a little bit annoying buddy every single time you get scared with the same things every single time you try to kill me or something god damn it don't stop don't stop let's keep on going okay ah this boy come on oh my god there are alligators everywhere no roach seriously i don't think we're gonna get to strawberry guys i think i'm gonna die multiple times before is terrible we we need to go past the bounty hunters to go to the strawberry town no that's terrible you know what i will enable some dlss now okay just so we can see the improvements in graphics and performance quality dlss here and then when we get to strawberry i will disable it just to test it out at native resolution you know uh it's looking sharper for sure here using the lss that's really really nice to see uh can we even lose the bounty hunters guys okay this this roach is already tired so we're gonna swap roaches now let's go let's go let's go buddy let's go let's go we need to go come on run run as fast as you can boy let's go okay getting 80s right now where we were getting like 70s and 60s and while looking sharper maybe slightly more detailed as well because in a lot of titles that happens when you enable the lss you get a little bit more detail i think we lost them guys we can proceed in safety the weather is changing a lot though don't like that too much i like the bright sunny days come on oh i can see what in the map again no there's no way come on roach roach stop being stupid man please no don't stop well the other one was so much better i guess why are you stopping here there are no alligators oh there there's a snake there okay that's comprehensible no i'm sorry roach i'm sorry thunderstorms incoming i guess dropping into the 60s around here interesting probably because of the rainy weather you know that's a little bit more intensive probably but back into the high 70s maybe 80s even at times the rainy weather is gone i see that body here in the map yes okay interesting uh should we uh yes i'm gonna loot him why not right i mean his things are not his anymore right so it's gonna be fine oh he's not there what the hell oh oh what what is this okay oh a little note there roach what are you doing buddy what are you doing ooh that's nice let's take everything shall we please be faster arthur we are bumping up our averages here i don't like it why don't you take things maybe i'm full already let's go so sorry sir i mean roach might not like you he doesn't like me either so it's fine it's it's normal okay i'm so sorry again let's keep on going here our averages bumped up to 91 because we stood there for a while trying to grab stuff and getting 100 plus fps the overall experience is absolutely fantastic here i i think i would actually enable the lss just to make sure that you are always 100 of the time above 60 fps you know because that's obviously the ultimate experience here in red dead redemption 2 you don't need high refresh rate honestly but this feels really fantastic please don't smash against things roach thank you oh i can actually kick okay i didn't know that i was just pressing g to calm the boy down and then he kicked because i pressed f instead all right we're almost there roger don't stop now please oh i can see some artifacts in roach's hair and also arthur's hair as well so that's because of dlss of course it doesn't happen at native resolution if that bothers you just turn off the lss it's going to be great anyways come on buddy just go faster please come on no don't do that i think i have been yeah i'm pretty sure i have been to the yes okay i got bounty here so i have been here already i'm so sorry sir i'm so sorry god damn it uh so it's getting 80 fps uh oh but we're using the lss yeah i forgot about that i thought we were getting like 80 fps compared to 60 something back in saint knee but if you were wondering there are more intensive areas oh boy you scare me so much roche with those things um there are more intensive areas than this town right so sorry sir really really sorry i'm just benchmarking here okay you just you were in the way you shouldn't have been pleased buddy but no don't do that don't do i also have a weapon okay and mine is better than yours please stop sir why do you do this what a knife seriously no no no i can't die i cannot die i am sir stop it stop it ah that's what you get see i told you to stop well might as well loot the guy right [Music] let's go all right let's stop it there and i am disabling the lss now okay confirm if it doesn't drop from like 65 or 62 it's pretty much the same thing as sentinel if it does drop from that it's a little bit more intensive but it's not the hugely more intensive area that a lot of people told me this was you know so uh i guess my previous benchmarks were still showing almost worst case scenario you know which is great to know but that means that you guys lied to me why do you like me i'm just kidding of course maybe with your system this is going to be a more intensive area i don't know maybe with like older architecture of gpus or different architectures it will get less fps here because it will behave differently in this area maybe the water is way more intensive in those areas maybe the the settings like on all three settings this is super super intensive because the water physics are one of the most intensive settings in the game and since this town has a lot of water it gets less fps but here using the hardware unboxed settings doesn't seem to make much of a difference guys being here or in the center in the area it's pretty solid i would definitely enjoy the game like this um and these are settings that i would recommend anyways getting 60 here 65 you know it's pretty much the same as the lowest that we've seen previously in other areas of the map so i'm glad to say that this is very consistent still you know at 1080p resolution at least let's stop it there let's go ahead and bump it up to 1440p now okay by the way i'm using borderless window here because uh in full screen it was steering a little bit i don't know why this is it 2560 by 1440 using exactly the same settings with no dlss first and then we're gonna test it out with quality the lss and okay so now we're getting 50s definitely dropping from 60fps in a lot of areas i guess i i i really didn't want it to cause a fight here you know because i i i'm a pacific guy believe it or not i just want to benchmark things but the npcs don't let me look at this they're they're fighting me they're trying to provoke me so i kill them all roach please get down there god damn it you make everything so difficult in this game all right come on okay okay roach that's it that's it you're gonna die if i stand here so we we gotta kill these bastards now come on goodbye sir thanks for your roach can i grab it thank you please please please no wait a second no okay okay okay okay okay come on come on stop it oh there goes an arm all right we're fine we're good i only have 14 bullets left there's still a police guy on top of this but we're just gonna stroll around the city for a little bit together some average fps and stuff like that again it gets pretty much the same fps in other areas of the map as well i am pretty screwed i think i'm i'm missing shots and everything so heal yourself buddy no i was healing myself oh we're in strawberry again thank you okay this is exactly what i wanted to be anyways good stuff nine degrees celsius here should we wet arthur a little bit yes we should let's go buddy oh yes taking a bath much needed bath right start counting our fps again okay can i arthur please don't drown okay but well guys i really think that's what happens here in strawberry to a lot of you if you're playing at higher settings especially higher water settings it just wrecks your fps that's normal i guess because it has a lot of water basically all right so should we should we actually grab this sir can i can i get a ride here please buddy come on okay goodbye sir okay can i reverse here yes i can goodbye people get out of here oh i hit one of them now we're screwed okay oh come on come on all right we're just gonna get out of here and get back later all right we already saw the fps at 1440p here so that's fine let's just go out to the woods and take a better look at the frames here i'm also very surprised that it doesn't stutter one bit even with six gigabytes of vram at 1440p resolution because a lot of people say that six gigs of vram is just not enough for 1440p these days and since this is one of the best looking games out there well i thought it would perform a little bit worse or stutter just a little bit at least but no it's buttery smooth right now very very nice oh wait a second this doesn't have stamina okay we can actually ride this forever if i don't get stuck in anything oh no no of course we cannot ride this forever and sometimes it goes down into the 40s but the thing is at 1440p you got that dlss support and looks way better than at 1080p so i would definitely choose to enable it on quality you know here we go accept that and now instead of getting lower 50s we're getting 60 and lower 60s at times i guess we got like five to seven more frames per second and things are definitely looking sharper once again although arthur's a hair is still a little bit weird it has some black dots or whatever hello oh this is not roach okay and i can't really get it wait can we shoot him no we cannot all right we're doing really bad bad things to animals today friends we killed the crocodile already we killed some horses it's terrible terrible video i'm so sorry roach please anyway although it's not really a huge bump up in performance it actually does feel a lot better because it is at 60 fps instead of 50 fps now and uh yeah it's quite a noticeable and considerable difference here for sure and i i would definitely enable the lss at 1440p guys it still looks fantastic um i don't want to return to mason i i just i don't care about him oh geez oh what did i just die i was running i just died because no okay okay it's the mission all right what the hell i thought harder had like a heart attack or something like that what the heck okay let's go oh 69 average right there i don't know maybe it went up by a little bit the average is because of the screen identity fps that we got in the death screen so i'm going to restart the counting system here no no roach roach he doesn't turn that's the major issue here with this boy he sometimes i am pressing d and it takes like three seconds to actually turn and then he he hits things oh boy that was close okay let's go to strawberry again over in the woods it's not bad it still drops a little bit but i mean it's totally acceptable i think for 1440p on an rtx 2060 right this is really amazing in my opinion the graphics are beautiful get 60 fps average which is more than enough for a game like this and especially if you play with the controller you're probably not even gonna notice these slowdowns whenever those happen although i can feel like some frame skips at times now that we're here in this area guys not sure if you can notice it too okay i'm so sorry i mean i don't mean to do these things it's just that roach is so unpredictable and so stupid sometimes he just does weird things he moves weirdly basically this is not how a horse should move see like it's not accurate i'm sorry sir that it's probably going to go very badly nope it didn't okay so it gets up to like 70 frames per second in best case scenario stop he's stuck now and once again in the saint the knee area it's probably going to be pretty much the same thing as well as out in the woods actually out in the woods it's a little bit more intensive because over here it went up into the 70s and over there it didn't i guess this is a better area to benchmark though because things are closer together so i can spend less time in each resolution and have an accurate test as well it's interesting that the cpu utilization sometimes goes to zero percent i don't know why that is that's really weird behavior but all right let's go over here now and play a little bit at 4k resolution this is not a resolution meant for the rtx 2060 obviously but i just want to check it out because i am curious i need to change the size of this here we go it's not looking very good well in terms of fps of course because the graphics are gonna look impressive as heck at this resolution okay yeah super sharp and detailed wow absolutely gorgeous this game at 4k but of course we're definitely heavily running out of vram here so it's not really playable like this but wow is it good for screenshots you know what i can see some fuzziness steel around arthur's hair at 4k i wonder if that's because of the taa it probably is honestly but alright it's totally unplayable without the lss at 4k let's try balanced dlss which usually still looks really good at 4k resolution maybe it will save the 2060 i'm not really sure though yeah we went from eight wow wait a second that's a massive improvement now all right that frame time graph is horrendous now though uh because we are still running out of vram i'm sorry sir sorry sir how the heck is that even possible like i was just running like a normal guy and the other one looked like an inflated doll or something like that if i start counting the fps right now the one percent lows will instantly be horrible yeah it's really weird that frame time you know maybe if we lock the fps it can be better to like 30 frames that would be a pretty decent experience you know 30 fps locked yes okay that is the case it definitely smooths out our graph and now it should roach is not the problem i am as i was saying it feels really smooth now way better than the 40 fps with the weird frame time graph this is actually playable now and add a little bit of motion blur if you want oh seriously he just shot the other citizen are you kidding me this is how people do things no no no no okay arthur arthur yes hide yourself there please come on come on all right that one is dead and that one is dead as well see i can still oh this one is not dead you can still do this even at 4k resolution with 30 frames per second it's very very playable and still super enjoyable please grab that wasn't tab to grab things ah come on all right i need to deal with these guys now okay never mind i'm gonna go i am gonna go because things don't work properly here maybe it's just me probably it's just me but yeah all right that's it for this video guys to sum it up i think you should go for like 1080p or 1440p here with the 2060 as expected you know because the 4k resolution is just way too intensive i would prefer the 40 plus fps experience at native 1440p even with fluctuations you know between 40 and 60 frames per second to this experience 30 fps locked at 4k and you probably have a 1080p or 1440p monitor anyways with a card like this so just play at your native resolution of course 1080p is just the ultimate experience if you want to get 60 plus fps just be sure that if you are playing at 4k lock it to 30fps and play with balance the lss for it to be enjoyable that's it guys thank you very much for watching this video i'll catch you in the next
