Revisiting The "WORST" Call of Duty

hello my old enemy it's been a long time and not nearly long enough look I may think you're a reprehensible repulsive piece of Filth and you may think the same about me but you know what why don't we just put aside our differences and go abuse each other one last time that's the ticket 12 seconds later yep nope sorry this was not worth it alright cancel the video goodbye forever ladies and gentlemen I regret to inform you that yes I am going to revisit call of duty World War 2 you know I didn't see this coming either now my review of this game is easily my most popular video now while it is one of my favorite reviews slash videos of one of my least favorite games of all time it's been so long and I've gotten actually a large number of requests to go back and revisit this game give it another shot see what it's done with the updates and maybe eat some of this I was so easily willing to talk you know I didn't touch it after my initial review and I feel like this is this is me being fair alright they're trying to they added new maps new weapons new skins and emotes but a lot has happened since then I've played and reviewed a ton of other Call of Duty's some of them arguably worse than this one a new dog model so I'd like to say I have a much broader perspective of Call of Duty as a series and as a franchise overall two and a half years later so has the multiplayer improved in any noticeable way what about nazi zombies do I have a different take on that now and how about the user interface and supply drops but before we get our boots on the ground and jump right Duty World War two time now my thoughts on the campaign are more or less the same I don't have any reason to replay it and that's exactly what I said just kind of was its own thing now the first thing I wanted to see was if the user interface was still doodoo poopoo and to my surprise it seems they've made some improvements you don't have to go to the social space anymore you arrive at the social space where you can search for a match as well as access a bunch of crap that could have just been in the menus already all the features and everything can be accessed just from the menus a revolutionary new concept but if you want the classic Cod World War 2 experience you can more than happily jump right back in and open supply drops on the beaches of Normandy as it was in 9th forty-four now instead of that collections tab that sorted everything into this bizarre nonsensical order even in this collections tab you can't equip any of this stuff how is this even organized why are there categories for weapons but when you click on them it shows you calling cards emotes and outfits oh hey here's a good idea why don't you make categories for calling cards emotes and outfits they actually have categories for calling cards emotes emblems and outfits and all that stuff also get this you can use a tactical and lethal grenade now God and now you only get to choose between one lethal or one tactical grenade why it's like so many of these fixes are just basic stuff that Call of Duty has never really screwed up before but they somehow did here so I can't give you too much props sledgehammer but I will give you some one prop maybe two no way I take it all back you've spent all this time adding in a whopping 215 emotes into the game you know that was a top priority I realize you guys needed to hit that 215 emo number otherwise Activision wouldn't let you go home to your family so Bravo to you for you know keeping your priorities straight and adding in this wide variety of emotes you know this is a course staple of the Call of Duty franchise is emote selection and that's really the whole basis for the gameplay so you know Call of Duty World War 2 just hits it out of the park oh these loot boxes have not aged well you know emotes and all that works for overwatch and that's about the only game that's ever worked for you can literally unlock the same emote 5 plus times and still get duplicates of a recycled emote what the [ __ ] a few years from now I think we're all gonna look back at games like Cod World War 2 as a time capsule of when video game companies would just put all this garbage into loot boxes and resort it to all sorts of scummy tactics to sell them like being forced to open a Supply Drop to progress in the multiplayer or being rewarded for watching other people open supply drops good god it was and that was before ei saved us all loop boxes still give you garbage unfortunately you guys my pistol-grip collection is in dire straits my [ __ ] god three grips that all look the same there are three different rarities what's the difference I don't even have close to the hundred and fifty three pistol grips you need for the m1911 alone I'm sorry the 1911 couldn't even get rights to the names of the guns dude I'm sorry to all my pistol grip fans out there who expected more from me I'm sorry I disappointed you [Music] I mean I'm the real I've never been interested in Call of Duty's soldier customization is it's just never been as captivating as the Spartans in Halo or even titanfall for that matter overwatch you know upon reflection the headquarters was actually a pretty cool concept I didn't like it at first cuz I thought it was just copying destiny and maybe it was but you know being able to test out weapons with different attachments and try out all the various kill streaks you know walking around seeing other players interacting with them you know going to the 1v1 pit that was really awesome I have some fond memories there actually but the supply drops ruin every single drop of coolness this place had and just made it a mean now what about the multiplayer I will say I didn't point out a few of the positives for world war two's multiplayer I still hate the Maps Gustav cannon still ain't half-bad they got two new free maps I think Valkyrie and shipment and they're just as flat as all the others matter of fact I can't find this map in custom games so I don't know what's up with that I wanted to see how many Maps the game added and it looks like it's just been - without paid DLC holy tits modern warfare just blows this game out of the water and maps there is something I didn't highlight in my review despite the simplicity and brain-dead nature of the maps at the very least you know you're gonna get some action you pretty much know when you turn that corner in the war mode there's gonna be two to three guys there and you know that Call of Duty ghosts isn't real you don't honestly believe that story's true he can't hurt you he can't stop you from shooting people in a Call of Duty game and you're safe and sound playing World War two you know after modern warfare 2019 I think I've realized that there is a pretty hard balance to strike between like ultra simplistic map design and overly complex or if you just make every map somewhere in the middle or at least having a good combination of both which i think is what Infinity Ward has managed to do with some of their newer DLC maps all I want to point out is there's something to say for a game that lets you just get into the action right away I still think it's funny you can't really jump on anything it just feels like blocks on a grid also the war mode is truly god-awful because of the map design and how restrictive it is I can't imagine playing this game for very long and I truly didn't I think I have less than 24 hours of play time while the war mode had potential it essentially forces eight to nine players into three separate positions and that just gets old really fast what also gets old is the god-awful annoying ass voice actors they just never shut up and they call the objectives of weird things it's like reducing build the building bridge keep the enemy from building the bridge the enemy is building a bridge the bridge is being the bridge it just goes on and on and on especially since this is world war ii and they only have Germans and Americans you know world at war flesh things out with the Japanese announcer in the Russian announcer I feel like Cod games need like three or four minima I mean again you compare it to ground war and how revolutionary massive the maps are in there it's just there's no contest whatsoever why would I want to play a huge blowout mode where I can't use kill streaks there's problem number one with the war mode but you know maybe this was just a stepping stone that needed to be made in order to get to ground war so for that I can kind of appreciate this you can also get killstreaks faster and domination and other modes they increase the points per kill it's 75 up from 55 kills for a recon plane isn't that a bit extreme especially in domination sometimes you can play an entire game where the only thing a player gets is a recon plane I mean talk about boring now I'm not gonna lie I had a little bit of fun with the multiplayer for a bit not enough to keep me playing or to be like hey I will really want to get this gun in attachment way past all that but I have just a little bit more respect for it gunplay is still pretty good it's bizarre how some guns have like no recoil and LMGs can aim down sights super fast I just love the feeling and toughness and greediness of modern warfare so much more it feels a bit cartoony now they've added a ton of new perks it seems and I remember I hated how they handled perks because you just chose one and then division teams would give you other perks I mean it's all the same thing right it just perks on a class so why not just have them in a singular selection or like three categories or whatever like it doesn't it doesn't make sense to me they also added a ton of new weapons that I can't use because I don't have enough loot boxes and no I'm not gonna grind for them game recycles 17 of the weapons from world at war out of 32 choices that's over half the selection it's okay I criticized the weapon variety but you passed on there too got to give some points to map voting as well a severely underrated feature shipment is a [ __ ] and map selection is more or less the same overall multi players still not my cup of tea I appreciate the new things they tried and added with the customization and weapons but I still think the perk system is awful now gunplay is alright but I just cannot play this game for long without wanting to do anything else alright zombies man let's see zombies I have grown to love and enjoy the more modern version of zombies which is more complex and more quests and stuff and things to do and keep track of and abilities and attachments and mmm things I actually really loved black ops 4 zombies mode in fact zombies has more customization than the actual multiplayer and that's not a good thing so while I had several complaints about the customization Treyarch has actually gotten me to see how those elements can be fun even if I still think it's a bit over complicated I am willing to give cog world war 2 zombies some more credit you can customize everything if that's what you enjoy I am more open-minded now I don't think this zombies mode is total garbage anymore but it still doesn't have a soul there's no style ER or anything to it I've been playing advanced warfare 2 and even EXO zombies has more personality than this and that's sad characters pretty much only talked about what to do next and again black ops for zombies had some great characters new and old the constant grunting is gone the characters you play as don't have any funny or memorable lines except for constantly [ __ ] grunting all the time I think that's really funny that that no longer happens and all the jump scares are gone too although they still repeat certain phrases a whole lot well I have some more respect for zombies I still feel pretty much the same way I do about it as I do about multiplayer it's like it's not necessarily the worst thing in the world maybe to me it is but even saying that if there were no other Call of Duty games out there ever I would I would play this one okay let me put it that way there was no other Call of Duty games I would probably play Cod World War two now I wasn't really invested in this mode at first you know it's just one map and I didn't really grind to unlock attachments or anything so I just don't care you know when this game came out and I wanted to play zombies afterwards I just went back to the older games they were better I think it's cool the map will highlight and tell you what to do next but with my crack team of two eight-year-olds and a person who is afk for 45 minutes we didn't get to pack a punch you know at the end of the day Call of Duty World War two is just a little bit better than what I initially thought and said it was in my review two and a half years ago thing is there's just not much to praise about this game especially when compared to its other contemporaries and/or games in the series the only thing it really offers now is being like a newer world war 2 game but if that's what you want then battlefield 5 maybe and if you have some more dignity probably just go back to battlefield 1 I'll take bf 1 over Cod World War 2 any day and the thing is when Call of Duty is a yearly franchise and you don't like it the beauty of it is you can all you have to do is just wait a year I was totally willing to do that for black ops 4 which I then grew to dislike the multiplayer and just enjoy blackout and zombies overall the multiplayer is still shallow even if you can get kill streaks faster which is something they changed it's a shame that Call of Duty's return to World War - was so boring and even now it's still boring well Chum it's been real great but now that I've revisited you we can put this all behind us and I can completely forget that you ever existed isn't life grand well that about wraps it up for today folks thank you all for watching like the
