RENEW OLD CONCRETE: Cheap, Easy, DIY Project

welcome back to the handy landlord today I'll be refinishing a set of steps you can see all the pitting and holes and there's actually a crack right by that railing also has some gray paint on the side there here is the end result this is a easy project anyone can do this project first I start by power washing all the loose debris and dirt off of the steps I try to remove the paint with the power washer but you can see it's kind of unsuccessful first video I ever made on YouTube was how to remove paint from concrete using this diamond wheel in this angle grinder you can see that it removes the paint pretty well but I received several comments stating that they were unable to remove all of the paint from their concrete so this would be very useful for somebody that was unable to remove all the paint by resurfacing the concrete [Music] [Applause] [Music] here I'm adding some bonding adhesive to water I'll be using this to mix all my concrete here I'm using rapid mortar mix because I had it on hand I've also used hydraulic cement for this step to fill all the voids in the concrete once you have the rapid set mortar mix mixed up I mix it a little bit thin just so I can work it into all the crevices and boys it's easiest just to use my hand and push it into all that all those pits and different things and then I use my blade and scrape off all the excess I do this over the entire surface I think at the end it just really gives a better result here I'm filling in that crack the rapid set mortar mix dries really fast and then I just use a brush and go over the entire surface remove any of the loose debris or any of the chunks that are left over on the top just to provide a flat surface to do the final coat [Music] here I'm using Portland cement mixing it up with the bonding adhesive water and this is what I'll be applying over the entire surface at the end of this video I have a couple pictures of a few other projects that I've done this year using this same exact method don't forget to Like and subscribe here I'm applying a second coat it's not really necessary but I just wanted to get as smooth as the surface as I could on the top so I didn't end up applying two coats on the steps just on the top surface because that was the surface that had the most pitting on it and I was trying to fill all those voids you you
