Remove Water Stains from Wood for Good!

hey guys thanks for joining me today my name is Julia with Konkin can do and today Konkin can remove watermarks from your table mm-hmm okay so we had a party a couple weeks ago and didn't put any sort of protection on this kitchen table that we have here and somebody putting a paper plate full of hot, fresh off the grill hotdogs and left this 'beautiful' water stain. As you can see this table is already not in the best shape in the world. It's kind of scuffed up and everything. You might as well see if you can fix it without spending any money. The first technique we're going to try is the two-faced technique all you need for that is a wet rag and if you haven't guessed already, some toothpaste. So all I'm going to do is put a little toothpaste on it. Once you have the toothpaste covering the stain, you're supposed to leave it on for about 30 seconds ok so it's been about 30 seconds and we're going to wipe it off. oh my gosh this is pretty amazing actually now that I'm letting it dry you can actually see that the watermark is starting to return. it's a little bit disappointing I thought for a second that this was really going to work. So the toothpaste technique didn't pass the test . The second technique I'm going to try is the iron technique. With this all you need is either a napkin or a cloth or a t-shirt that's 100% cotton and an iron. you're good to go. A couple of tips before we get started. You want to make sure that your iron steam setting has been turned off. A lot of people say no we do want to use steam, well I would say try it without steam first because really what you're trying to do is heat up the water that's stuck underneath the finishing so that it evaporates and you don't have any more stain. Also you want to make sure that you don't have the iron on the table for too long because you are going to do additional damage. and take it slow. Slow and steady wins the race. I've got my cotton cloth. I folded it a couple times as you can see I've got the stain under this area here. okay nice and hot. so all I'm going to do is hold the iron down for a couple seconds at a time on top of the cloth oh okay that looks pretty good so far but there's still a lot of stain left I'm going to put the cloth back down and try it some more. let's try it again so as you can see this is a pretty stubborn stain. It's definitely made a huge improvement but the wood is now starting to get pretty hot and I'm going to just give it a couple seconds to come back to a more neutral temperature as you can see it's still a little bit water markie but it's way better than it was before. I'm going to just let the table cool down a little bit more and try it one more time and this time I'm actually going to take my cotton cloth and I'm going to remove one of the folds because I folded it twice alright let's take a look. Wow okay now I'm really starting to become impressed so let's do it again. at this point the stain is about 95 percent gone whoo I can't believe this is working so well. okay there's still a little bit of a stain left as you can see, so you know what, I'm just going to bite the bullet and open my cloth all the way up. I just can't believe it I can hardly even see where the stain was. Already like I am so impressed. okay let's just give this a try see if we can totally get rid of it. All right, ready for the reveal? Whoo! Okay, I am really excited that this worked. I'm back. It's been about half an hour. The table is still a little warm but as you can see it looks way better than it did before so I'm really no expert on refinishing tables or fixing anything especially when it comes to wooden furniture but I was able to remove that nasty watermark just with a couple of household items and a little can-do attitude. so remember, if I can do it, so can you. if you found this video helpful give it a thumbs up if you want to see what's coming down the pipeline please hit subscribe. thanks so much for watching and have a good one.
