Recolor with Firefly!: Transform Vectors in Seconds

colorization tool Adobe Firefly recently introduced the recolored vectors tool and I can't wait to see what it's all about if you're new to Firefly go here to get started Adobe released their text to image generator Firefly in April 2023 Adobe has Grand plans for Firefly it's not just about text to image generation but also includes a variety of AI tools for designers and creators Adobe has been teasing us with a fairly sophisticated looking in painting tool and 3D features but they seem to be taking a cautious approach with AI so far they've released only one new tool since its launch recolored vectors this tool generates color variations for your vector artwork based on presets or a prompt for those of you who are unfamiliar with professional design a vector is a scalable digital graphic created using geometric shapes and mathematical formulas Vector images can be resized without losing quality or becoming pixelated they are often used for websites and Logo Graphics as well as infographics and illustrations vector graphics are usually created with software like Adobe Illustrator vector graphics are saved in SB G file format this video is sponsored by Aura while we dive into upload an SVG file Adobe even provides a few sample images to experiment with there are nine color combination presets choose presets like salmon sushi or summer by the beach Firefly returns four versions of each color combination for example trippy disco lights gives you different background colors and a different color for the subject and supporting elements want to explore other combinations just click refresh hover over each image to see The prominent colors in the color palette click Shuffle colors to change the elements of colors within the image and simply download your favorite color combination or clear the preset and choose your own color combination at this point the given color palette is limited to 18 colors if you choose a color Firefly won't limit you to just that color but it will recolor with your image with your chosen color as a primary feature choose green and your entire image won't be in green Firefly will give you colors that complement green you could select as many colors as you like but the number of elements in your image May limit how many colors appear feel free to combine a preset with additional colors Adobe will recover your image's elements using a chosen color combination each time you refresh you get a different coloring there's a handy drop down menu to choose popular color combinations based on color theory options include complementary colors analogous triadic split complementary or Square a quick color theory refresher complementary colors are opposite each other on the color wheel now latest colors are next to each other these are great choices if you want design ready images without fussing over exact colors for the most control simply start typing the colors you want Into The Prompt bar like the other AI image generators use common descriptions of colors Firefly doesn't seem to recognize hex codes check out my video on colors that work well with AI I'll put a reference guide to the hundreds of colors recognized by AI image generators in the description below the colors seem to be inspired by your list rather than exact matches this is unlike other image generators like mid-journey which will try to match your color choices more exactly the color you prompt will probably be in the image somewhere and with the four choices you'll probably find a color combination that you like but this tool is probably not for designers who want more control over their color combinations the results are lightning fast allowing you to recolor your vector images in no time there's just one catch the tool only works with SVG files limiting the use for non-designers who may not have created SVG files before you might think Adobe would make it easy to convert PNG and JPEG files to SVG format but unfortunately Photoshop discontinued this feature in 2021 but Adobe Express offers a handy little tool it works with both JPEG and PNG files but beware the conversion process simplifies your image so don't expect intricate details if you have more design experience you can create SVG files in Adobe Illustrator if you don't want to deal with SVG files try one of my favorite recoloring tools palette FM simply drag an image of any kind into palette FM and choose from their mini color presets click the edit prompt tool and Palette will give you a description of your image change or add colors for a different images just pay for the downloads that you want Adobe Firefly's recolored vectors is an amazing tool for designers and creators it offers endless color possibilities for your vector artwork while it might not be perfect for those seeking precise color control its user-friendly design speed and the range of presets make it a valuable addition to your creative toolkit don't forget to play around
