They should just eliminate double ending. Problem solved. It would be in the government's interest as well since houses sell for less and that means less taxes.
One of these agents is Eli Bakhtiati in Willowdale. Her sign is on every 2nd lawn and she is corrupt as hell. I've dealt with her on one property and had a feeling I was getting a raw deal. She was very rude and pushy. Property eventually sold for less than my offer.
Had another similar aituation on a house we were bidding on. Offer day... pouring rain....listing photos were more than terrible so not much interest. Sellers like us. Ours is the only bid - until listing agent phones it in to someone - they show up very late - like 9:45 only to look? Ok thats fishy but our offer is more than fair and is being reviewed. I get a call a half hour later saying the house was sold to the other party. I was furious. Checked the sale price later and it was less than we had offered. Collusion all over.
"The way it works now, is effective as long as everyone's being honest and working with integrity."
I don't think I've ever laughed harder in my life.
And as for Hon Marie-France Lalonde, the Minister of Government and Consumer Services, saying "I think that currently under our legislation the regulation is there to protect these consumers" she is clearly unwilling to do her job and I hope that someone replaces her immediately. If the same exact clips made a representative from the Real Estate Council of Ontario say that they'd "be prosecuting and looking for maximum penalties", why is her reaction so mild? And people wonder why there's such a negative stigma towards politicians...
In all this, kudos to Australia.
I was impressed by their electoral voting system and now this. Should put the fear of their freaky wildlife aside and consider a move perhaps.
A realtor tried to pull this on me this summer, but my 'gut' gave off the same vibe as Marketplace. Hell lets just Auction the house, contents sales have been done this way in rural areas forever.
ITT: More than a few realtors justifying the necessity to double end deals. :)
lol becoming a real estate agent is such a joke.
Thanks for posting OP.
I'm a full time agent and that one agent wearing a baseball cap infuriates me, along with all the others. It gives the industry a bad name and take your hat off you are not at a family bbq, you are handling the largest transaction in peoples lives. All these agents should be disciplined and suspended.
