Did anyone else laugh when he said "yea that's our door hanging that you saw"
Anyone have pics of the door?
I struggle not to ever say anything about ATC, but that controller ... fuck. The pilot and FO where in an EXTREMELY stressful situation. They were juggling a million things. She just seemed to make things worse ignoring what the pilot was saying they could and could not do.
Talk about intense! And then when tower said they only had one gear down my heart skipped a beat not realizing that they only saw the door
Welp. The office is gonna be a buzz tomorrow!
Question from a Brit, what's the deal with 'declaring an emergency'?
As far as I've been trained, it's MAYDAY or PAN (if you don't need assistance from ATC immediately). Declaring an emergency seems quite ambiguous to me and requires more back-and-forth between pilot and controller to confirm and get more details.
Here is a much more effective call IMO. Pilot gives the problem and intentions, and the controller can immediately offer help without needing to ask questions.
I know the pilot was busy, stressed and getting pissed off about the situation and I don't want to make it sound like they are bad guys in this story. But am I the only one cringing from his r/t nonchalance? Uniform 'Pop' instead of Papa and 21 8 instead of 121.8? I know he's stressed but it sounds like he does it whenever
