RankMath vs. Yoast vs. SEOPress: Which WordPress SEO Plugin is best?

so you have a wordpress website and you're looking for those number one google rankings but you need to know which wordpress seo plugin is best and what's going to help you actually do just that reviewing three of the most popular seo plugins out there and we have experience with each of these plugins but this year we finally decided to switch all of our websites over to one of them so stay right let's get to it a few things that i want to mention at the outset that apply to all three of these plugins first they're all going to let you do basic seo optimization you're going to be able to update things like page titles and meta descriptions fairly easily you're going to be able to create xml sitemaps that you can submit to google search console all of them on some level are going to integrate with google tools out there whether that be google search console or google analytics or both which can be really helpful in giving you an accurate idea of where you currently stand with search engines and the work that you have to do and each of these plugins has a free version and a pro version and each of the free versions have a decent feature set so if you're on a budget you can check out each of these plugins free version i think a lot of the differences are going to come down to value what you're getting for your money how many plugins it's going to take you to optimize your website and the trajectory of the company how quickly they do things like release features and where they're heading all right so let's get started with the og seo wordpress plugin yoast yoast used to be really the only game in town and most people who are serious about optimizing their wordpress website seem to go with yoast seo one downside about yoast is that you'll probably need multiple yoast seo plugins to optimize your website if you have a woocommerce website for instance you'll likely need their woocommerce extension if you run a local business you'll likely need their local business seo extension so you end up with multiple seo plugins on your website what this also means is that you'll likely drop over a hundred dollars a year just on your set of yoast seo plugins and we should always be looking for ways to reduce the amount of plugins on our website to increase our website's performance something however that might make the cost of yoast that much more bearable is the education that they put out so if you get the yoast seo pro plugin you also get access to the yoast seo academy and i found that the content they produce is always top notch however with all of that said one reason to hesitate before purchasing yoast is that they were just acquired and what i'll do is i'll link to some details about that acquisition that you'll want to check out if you're thinking about purchasing yoast and i'll let you do your own research and i won't say anything more about it so we used yoast on all of our websites for years and then i stumbled across seo press and at the time they were doing a lifetime deal so i decided to give seo press a shot a few things i loved right off the bat first things first their dashboard super easy to navigate and i think of all three plugins that we're reviewing today their dashboard is the most well set up it also seemed to have all the features that yoast offered and in one plugin so i could get rid of the two yoast plugins i was using and i could replace it with the one seo press plugin something else that's awesome about seo press is that it's only 39 for unlimited websites at least at the time of recording this video and as far as i know that makes seo press the least expensive best seo plugin option out there so again if you're working on a budget and you really don't have a lot of more money to spend on your website then seo press is probably the first plugin that you should check out not long after i started using seo press they rolled out with a second complimentary plugin called insights and insights allows you to track your keywords and your backlinks from your wordpress dashboard this is a pretty awesome feature for people who don't want to invest in a lot of seo tools especially professional seo tools like sem rush which are quite expensive especially if you're just using a tool like that to track your keyword progress the only downside is that it does cost an additional 99 at least at the time of recording this video if you don't have an seo press subscription and it will require you to download and install another plugin on your wordpress website with that being said we're still big fans of seo press i kept on hearing over and over again about this new plugin called rank math and how it was apparently free and had a better feature set than any other seo plugin out there but i hadn't decided to give it a shot until i put together the most recent version of our showit seo course by then they had rolled out with a pro version of their plugin that i decided to try a few things struck me right away first i do think that the free version of rank math is the very best free seo plugin out there so again if you are looking for a free plugin to use to help you optimize your website then look no further than rankmath second the pro version of rankmath pretty much has everything else that the last two plugins that i mentioned have plus maybe a few features and it only requires one plugin yes it even gives you the ability to track keywords like seopress does however it does not have the ability to track backlinks at least at the time of recording this video the setup wizard is super easy to use it's going to automatically detect other popular seo plugins that you might have installed on your website it's going to migrate that data from those plugins over to rank math for you and it takes a lot of the guesswork out of setting up an seo plugin i find that a lot of the default settings out of the box are the settings that i would have chosen so if you don't feel like you're an seo genius that's okay rankmath takes a lot of the guesswork out of setting up their plugin the rankmath dashboard is also really easy to use it allows you to toggle on and off a lot of the different features that you may or may not need it also integrates directly with the elementor page builder plugin which is important to us because that's what we use it's also worth noting that seo press and yoast both now have a direct integration with elementor i have not used either their direct integrations because since then i have started using ranked math it does run a little bit more expensive than something like seo press at 59 a year however it does require only one plugin which is nice and it's still far less expensive than something like yoast seo something to note they do list this as a launch price on their website so i wouldn't be surprised if the price goes up in the near future something else that's important to note is that the rank math facebook group is very active and rank math does a good job of answering people's questions and providing links to educational materials whenever i have emailed rankmath they have always gotten back to me within 24 hours we have since migrated all of our websites over to rankmath so what do we recommend well first things first you need to decide whether your current seo plugin is cutting it if things are going really well there's no reason to fix something that's not broken however if you're looking to install your first seo plugin or your current seo plugin isn't cutting it then i would highly recommend checking out rankmath like i said i think they're free the free version of their plugin is among the best free seo plugins out there and i really have enjoyed using the pro version of their plugin as well like i said rank math pro is what we use on all of our websites now if you're looking to save some money and still want a strong seo plugin then i would check out seo press and to
