over the years a ton of people have made ranked videos of every mario game when in reality these videos are just ranking the mainline mario titles which makes sense that's fair enough but i'm in this weird unique position in which i've already played almost every mario game in existence so my ranked video is going to include all the mainline games mario kart mario rpgs mario party and even a few of the spin-off titles i won't be including the sports games simply because they don't have as much significance as these titles so with that out of the way let's get this massive project started and get her ranked 80 donkey kong mario's first game hasn't aged well but even so it's worth trying at least once there's tons of different versions of donkey kong but we'll just include the arcade one for simplicity's sake the goal is to save lady from donkey kong interestingly lady wasn't named pauline until the ms-dos and apple ii ports were released the game itself is clunky to say the least you jump over barrels and climb ladders to reach the top or you can use a hammer to destroy the barrels the big issue here is just the controls they aren't fluid in the slightest mario has next to no control after jumping and if he falls slightly too high he just dies and then top that off with four measly stages but it is an arcade title so that's kind of a given like i said this game is worth playing at least once but nothing beyond that it's not that special 79 super mario bros the lost levels i don't understand how anybody enjoys this game at all maybe if you're a 2d mario speedrunner the difficulty could be a fun diversion but that crowd is small compared to the average person the first super mario bros just wasn't hard enough i guess so they made the sequel harder and i mean way way harder there's a poison mushroom that literally kills or downgrades you every wind level is miserable warp pipes can take you backwards level design is flat out bad sometimes you bounce off enemies to get across which is exactly like a lame mario maker level there are 4 hidden worlds that can only be accessed if you beat the game 8 times without using a continue everything about the lost levels is sadistic in nature they didn't even update the graphics which at the time there wasn't a standard yet for mario games but there were very few new sprites in general you can't play as luigi which is kind of cool and even has a higher jump but he also takes longer to pick up speed and slow down so he's an absolute chore to play as the game's movement is still just okay but it doesn't feel well fleshed out like the modern games i'd only play this if you're morbidly curious this is the only mainline mario game that nobody should feel obligated to beat 78 mario clash yep i'm even including a virtual boy game since this is the main mario game for this handheld it takes the idea of mario bros and adds another dimension to it you'll snap on a koopa and either throw it through pipes to clear their enemies or throw it across the screen to hit them from afar it's an interesting idea but the awkward depth perception makes it a bit of a pain to play i do appreciate that there's a variety of different types of levels including bonus stages and it's somewhat fun in small bursts but this isn't something i'd want to come back to mario clash is best played out of sheer curiosity and that's its biggest merit and that's not to mention that it's all red and black making it probably the worst looking mario game of all time 77 mario party 10 just thinking about this game hurts my soul you take a perfectly good formula completely change it for no reason in mario party 9 and instead of reverting back to the older way they made mario party 10 even worse now look i understand that some people enjoy the car mechanic which is fine that's their prerogative but i can almost guarantee that those people have not played the older games and don't know what they're missing everybody sitting in the car creates zero tension in 100 boredom mario party 10 isn't even bad in fact i enjoy a good amount of the minigames it's just boring and puts me to sleep tedium is the worst quality a game can possess all you do is collect many stars and slowly move across a linear board it's like waiting in line for a roller coaster you slowly td your way forward excited to get on the ride only for it to be short-lived and not worth it but what about the bowser mode yeah it's completely broken good luck standing any sort of chance against bowser he gets way more dice rolls than everybody else and has the potential to take out players in many games further decreasing the odds of winning but of course there's amiibo mode which plays like normal mario party right well i mean i guess it kinda does but you also have to own amiibo to play this at all and the boards are all the exact same square if it wasn't for the mini-games this would probably be the worst mario game of all time 76 mario party the top 100 what a great idea take a compilation of 100 classic minigames and throw them all into one game except there's one problem with that concept they kind of forgot about adding the classic boards which is kind of exactly what makes the minigames worth playing to begin with there's a total of one board to play on and it's the most generic board i've ever seen in my life at least we're not all in cars but everybody moves at the same time and you get stars by running into the balloons while many games play randomly it just doesn't feel right playing a mario party that's meant to celebrate the games from two decades ago and on top of that we didn't even get to pick the mini games nintendo could have ran some sort of survey asking what mini games we liked the most but no they picked and only some of them are solid entries 75 mario party 9. it's pretty much mario party 10 but without the bowser mode and that's a perk seeing how bad that mode was once again you move around in a car and collect many stars but there's no strategy or tension since you can't control which direction to go in but i guess it wouldn't matter anyway since the boards are super straightforward and the items have been seriously downgraded gone are the days of getting the magic lamp or the mega mushroom or anything remotely interesting now you can get the uh one two three dice block or the one through ten dice block wow i get to move around the board slightly less or slightly more fun oh just so fun it's ironic how the boards take less time to play but feel way longer than they used to the mini games are still a good time but they pretty much always are in mario party if the boards suck to play on that's just going to make the whole thing worse 74 mario bros like donkey kong there's quite a few ports of this game on newer hardware but we'll just stick with the arcade variant i've played this the most on the game boy advance because i owned super mario advance as a kid and loved popping in mario bros from time to time the objective is to take out all the enemies by flipping them from underneath it's a pretty interesting idea instead of just jumping on top of them and what's even better is this game as co-op as you go through levels the enemies get tougher to hit you'll avoid fireballs and the stage layout starts getting slippery with ice there's also consequences for not killing enemies they can re-emerge and get faster if you take too long which is a game mechanic you still don't see that much nowadays the difficulty progression is pretty advanced for the arcades this game can still be addicting depending on which version you play the main issue is that there isn't much else to do and the controls aren't always the best it really depends on the version you're playing 73 mario party island tour by far one of the most generic mario party games i've ever played in my life all the 3ds mario parties are so forgettable in drab that i have a hard time recollecting any sort of memory of playing this thankfully there's more than one board compared to the top 100 but these boards for some reason all have different rules what's the point of that why not have a bunch of boards that can all utilize these different play styles since you still move around in a linear style there's still no strategy on the board so it makes the whole game very slow and monotonous on one board the boss is literally just rolling a dice to punch a whop until its health meter is gone underwhelming is the best definition for island tour 72 mario party star rush oh boy another forgettable mario party game this time however the boards aren't as bad as before it's akin to how the top 100 handles it you move at the same time it collects star balloons as well as occasionally playing mini games the mini games like usual are decent for what they are what's really interesting is that the reason the boards in this era of mario party were considered boring isn't because they run too slowly it's got nothing to do with that it's because the boards themselves have virtually no substance go back to the n64 and gamecube era and there's so many things happening that alter how the board looks and feels that just doesn't exist in star rush or any of the 3ds mario parties at least toad scramble has multiple boards to play on but allowing everyone to move it once isn't changing the fact that we're just running on literal squares where is the theming what about chance time and happening spaces i'm just glad mario party is slowly returning back to its roots nowadays 71 paper mario sticker star do i really need to elaborate it's pretty clear how awful this game is i mentally was not able to finish the final boss because of how soul draining sticker star is before shooting on it fully i do like a lot of the music and it does look pretty nice for a 3ds game but the combat oh what the hell happened to the combat you use stickers to attack but they're all a one-time use so when they're gone they are gone for good because of that there's zero incentive to fight enemies because it's a waste of stickers and time you just save them for bosses which by the way most bosses require thing stickers to defeat but you have no idea which stickers will work half the time so you'll just end up guessing and then wasting even more of your time pair that up with a linear level structure no partners a lack of any interesting characters or story and no level of system this is the most playable unfun game i may have ever experienced in my life and likely ever will 70. mario party advance i know it's a bit weird to place mario party advance above the 3ds mario parties but frankly it takes advantage of the hardware it's odd to its fullest potential why bother making a standard mario party game on a handheld that requires wires to connect via local multiplayer yes there was a wireless adapter but it was only for the sp and the range was super short i can't imagine a full mario party game would have worked well so instead they focused on the single player and made a game where the goal is to complete a bunch of side quests which probably sounds super lame out of context but the side quests all have really interesting and hilarious stories you actually want to learn about these characters and the lives that they're living it's surprisingly charming the actual problem believe it or not is that the mini games are either bad or just mediocre so they're a bit of a slog to play but clearing them gives you more dice rolls which in turn drives incentive to get better and complete all the side quests if you don't look at this like a mario party game it's honestly not too bad 69. mario kart tour never have i been more conflicted with a video game before mario kart 2 is a surprisingly fun and jam-packed mobile title the controls aren't perfect but for your phone or tablet they work pretty damn well there's tons of tracks to play a boatload of characters to unlock decent online brand new items never seen before plus daily and weekly challenges to complete each character has unique items and you can level up your character's stats like there's a surprising amount of progression here all that sounds awesome right well it's a free-to-play game so so you already know what makes this entire thing gross the most obvious issue is the loot box pipe you pull it and have no idea what you're gonna get to get high scores you need specific characters cards and gliders to do well but the odds of getting the best ones all the time are slim to none just look at how many characters and cards i don't have and i played this a lot in its first year i will never get all these characters in cards because they're virtually impossible to unlock and that kind of sucks then there's the challenges which is an extremely cool idea it's kind of like mission mode for mario kart ds but it's ruined because half of them are behind a paywall i have to fork out 15 bucks to unlock premium challenges and i need the gold pass for the gold challenges yes there is even a subscription service called the gold pass which lets you drive faster and get easier access to better characters and whatnot honestly if this game wasn't riddled with all this gotcha mechanic bullsh it'd be one of the best mario kart games out there for how often it's updated and how much content is filled inside it's sad to see all this effort poured into a mobile game when it could have been used for a new mario kart on the switch like i wanna see over 100 characters hundreds of tracks the ability to upgrade all this stuff but not like this 68. super mario maker for nintendo 3ds taking the idea of mario maker where you can share your own levels online and removing that entirely is dumbfounding why even bother making a game like this if you can't upload your own levels i mean sure there's some nintendo made levels for you to play and you can still make your own and share them locally but who's actually going to go through with that there's also no amiibo costumes this time which is one of the best things about mario maker 1. it's not like mario maker on 3ds doesn't function it's still perfectly playable and it's for mario if you're into that but don't even waste your time when mario maker wanted to exist 67 super mario kart the very first mario kart hasn't aged perfectly but it's a great time if you're willing to give it a chance for a snes game the kart racing is pretty cool with a large amount of tracks a battle mode and even donkey kong jr the tracks themselves all look very similar but they kind of had to because of the hardware limitations the controls feel very janky at first but if you give it a couple hours you'll adjust and have a pretty good time it may not have as much pizzazz as mario kart tour but at least you only pay for it once and get everything with it which is always a plus in my book 66 super mario run i know i forgot this game came out too take new super mario bros but make it an auto runner it sounds like a horrible idea but honestly i kind of enjoy it for what it is it's extremely simplistic with very few playable characters but there was some joy to be had trying to collect all the coins and get their levels as fast as possible unfortunately it shouldn't have cost 10 bucks if it was like three or five bucks that would have been more reasonable but it's because of that steep price that it didn't sell very well and that led nintendo to making their mobile games free to play so that's a tad sour but i appreciate that it does feel like an actual game with multiple modes and levels to play through in the story 65 mario kart live home circuit does this even count as a mario kart game i mean i guess it technically does you take a real life cart and set up a bunch of checkpoints around your actual house then you just play the game off your tv it's an extremely unique experience and hilarious if you have pets but i don't know if i'd say it's long lasting the gimmick gets old quickly especially if your place isn't very big you can only make so many tracks and it's kind of expensive too like the technology is awesome but it's the same race every time unless you keep getting off your couch to move the checkpoints around there's technically a grand prix with different tracks but it just adds filters to the screen it is really cool how your cart actually slows down her stops after getting hit by items i'll give them that but it's unfortunately the only mario kart will likely get on the switch seeing how people won't stop buying mario kart 8 deluxe 64. mario kart super circuit by far one of the more underrated mario kart games has it aged gracefully like a light feather and not exactly but it's still one i enjoy coming back to when need be it's very much like super mario kart with a similar character roster but it also has smoother controls more varied tracks and even all the snazz tracks are unlockable before mario kart 8 this game had the most mario kart tracks total as for the new stuff they're some of the most creative that nintendo's ever produced cheeseland ribbon road sunset wild the list goes on and on my only real gripe is that the compressed audio is a bit ear grating at times and the controls have a learning curve to them but hey that quick run mode is perfect for racing on the go it was perfect for car rides as a kid if i ever wanted to get a few races in 63. paper mario color splash 2016 sure was a lousy year for nintendo fans adding to that trend was color splash now look there's a lot of aspects from this paper mario that i really admire the writing is pretty solid and hysterical at times the graphics are extremely sharp and well done and the music is pretty amazing unfortunately all the futures that stem from sticker star are still intact here and it's disappointing there's still no partners no way to level up with experience points and the characters are super generic again like seriously why is there such a heavy focus on toads being everywhere the main issue once again is the combat you'll use practically the same sticker system except they're cards now but in some ways it's even more intrusive than before sometimes you have to make your attacks stronger by using paint to fill them so you have no choice but to spend extra time doing that like could they possibly make the combat drag on any longer like last time the level structure is the same and there's still a world map removing some of the immersiveness in small burst this game is acceptable but if you're gonna play paper mario the first three are much better options 62 super mario bros the one that started it all i'm not gonna go on a whole spiel how it changed the gaming industry because you already know all that and i've heard that enough there's 32 levels and all of them kinda feel the same there's some variety with the night water and castle stages but a lot of it uses the default overworld which makes sense considering how new this kind of game was with that said it hasn't aged very well for a lack of variety and the controls are very wonky they still work well enough but the momentum definitely takes some time to get used to the power-ups are still fun to use the music is still catchy and there's a decent amount of enemy variety but there's better versions of this game to play which we'll get into later on 61 super mario bros deluxe speak of the devil super mario bros deluxe is a port of the original game and adds so much more to it you can unlock all the levels from the japanese mario bros 2 or super players as it's titled here there's also a challenge mode that has hidden yoshi eggs and red coins these are the kind of things to add to remakes enhancing the original content in deeper ways with challenge mode you can unlock things in the toy box such as awards and photos yes there's an achievement system with rewards in a game boy color game you can even use the game boy printer for the photos and some banners there's also a calendar a fortune teller mode and you versus boo you versus boo is a race between you and a boo to clear level as fast as possible not only is that idea really cool but there's a bunch of blocks that flip from white to red you'll try to keep them white as much as possible but they'll randomly switch to red blocking your progress and making the race harder there is so much extra stuff in here that it honestly does make it better than the original game the only problem with this port is the screen crunch it's definitely harder to tell when things are coming up which is a little bit annoying but also inevitable due to the screen size 60. super mario party it's really awesome to see mario party finally return to its roots after so many years and super mario party kinda follows through at the very least it's on the right track we've got 20 characters several game modes and four maps to play on first off the character selection is by far the best mario party has seen yet it feels very full and complete four maps on the other hand isn't even close to enough and it's shocking we never got updates with more maps considering games like mario tennis and mario golf are getting that treatment i like the boards though they feel open world enough and contain interesting stage elements to mix up the gameplay a good bit the mini games as usual are pretty great and i love that you can practice them inside the control screen it's a remarkable quality of life feature the additional game modes are pretty forgettable i had to look up that river survival and sound stage existed i like things like toad's rec room where they include more in-depth minigame stuff but these extra game modes seem unnecessary i wish they focused on a few more boards for the main mode instead of new game modes that aren't fleshed out enough to be considered replayable 59 mario party 7 well it's one of the most forgettable classic mario party games it's still a really fun time funny enough it was the last mario game to come out on the gamecube for europe and australia it's almost a surprise it didn't get ported to the wii instead the theme this time is everyone is selling on a cruise ship which is something they haven't really tried before as you'd expect you've got a bunch of boards to play on all of them are fun enough i always like pakoda peak the best there's something really novel about climbing up a mountain and meeting up with a koopa master to potentially get a star his star count changes depending on the number above his house so it adds this element of challenge in which you need to save as much money as possible in case you have to pay a lot for a star each board has different versions in terms of how to play it which is a nice way to increase the replay value the orbs are great par usual and same with all the mini games this is shockingly the one mario party game with eight player mini games even if it's only a handful of them the only big issue is things started to get a little bit stale at this point and everyone thought it was time for some sort of refresh or at least that's what we thought we wanted until mario party 9 came out then we all started shouting no no no go back go back please then going back was our calling for several years after that 58 mario party 8. i consider this the last of the classic mario party games as things took quite a turn after eight there's also mario party ds but we'll get to that later valley who is our uh crazy host and like the other ones i don't really remember him after playing since this was on the wii you know that they went hard on the motion control gimmick and frankly it works fairly well in their favor i don't know if i'd say these are the best minigames of all time but they're definitely more memorable than some other minigames of course everyone remembers shake it up because that's super hilarious motion to do with the wemo but then there's speedy graffiti punch a bunch and at the chopwash that also used the motion controls in a smart way they found a nice balance of games to use buttons for as well as the pointer and i really like what they did here as for the boards they're just alright they're fairly typical outside of one exception and i think you know where i'm going with this koopa's tycoon town is somehow one of the best if not the best mario party board of all time the main concept is investing in hotels with your coins whoever has the highest investment owns the hotel which means they get stars in return the more money that's poured into a hotel the more stars you get it almost sounds too complicated for a mario party game but it's simplified to a point that anybody can understand and enjoy it plus there's a lot of extra modes the candy items are fun to use it's just generally a pretty solid game 57 super mario land a mario game where you don't fight bowser and you don't save peach there's also only 12 levels so i believe this is the shortest mainland mario game in existence and it's uh aged decently the controls are definitely a little on the janky side it kind of feels like mario bros 1 but a lot heavier like seriously you just sink to the ground if you're falling from somewhere it's a bit strange but despite its few shortcomings this is a game that any mario fan should play at some point because of how different it is the levels are all weird locations the bosses and enemies are different heck you don't even get a fire flower there's this super ball flower which lets you fire a ball that bounces off the walls the freaking koopas have explosive shells i mean what's up with that it's honestly great stuff and it's easy to play because it takes like an hour to finish the whole thing the best part of course has to be the music my god is it insanely catchy it's chiptunes at its absolute finest you'll be humming the songs in your head for hours to come 56. new super mario bros wii strangely this is my least favorite new super mario bros out of the five that exist it's not a bad game by any means but the other ones over time have done more to stand out or just slightly more enjoyable as you'd expect the worlds all use the same themes you're used to the controls are basically the same and the bosses are once again the koopalings what's cool is that this was the first multiplayer 2d mario game which at the time was really novel i remember playing this when it came out with a friend and we had one hell of a fun and giggly night ah those were some good times but anyway yoshi made a comeback he works the same as he did in super mario world eating enemies and the like all the levels are fairly well designed and the power ups are great despite being slightly broken you already know i'm referring to the propeller mushroom just shake your controller and then you know skip the level if you feel like it that doesn't work for every stage of course but it helps tremendously i do like the penguin suit since you can throw ice balls and slide on the ground and this is the first time that ice mario's appeared in the game although i don't see the point of ever using ice mario when the penguin suit also throws ice balls and does more this is a decent enough 2d mario i enjoyed it and it's worth playing at least once 55. mario party 4 this was actually my very first mario party game even before the n64 ones while the game itself is a little slow paced that doesn't excuse the incredible mini game selection and fun boards although the boards themselves do kind of all look the same they all play very differently and the item shop keeps things fresh a big mechanic is of course the mega and many mushroom spaces this was the big and small our gimmicks era of nintendo this gimmick could be spotted in basically all the mario games which isn't a bad thing because changing in size led to a lot of interesting strategies on each board but of course the mini games i mean this one has book squirm trace race free throw domination stamp out dungeon duos paths of apparel it's actually crazy how many amazing mini games are included even to this day the mini games and mario party boar are my favorite in the entire series and there have been a lot of mario party games since this has come out i do wish there are more characters though the roster is the same as mario party 3 which is a tad disappointing 54 mario party 5 things really start to get spicy with this mario party as the boards all look much more unique there's a better character selection and dk has been relegated to a space on the board you know when this game first came out i always thought that was a strange choice and even now i still think that's strange why make a dk space in particular why not use some other random mario enemy that wouldn't have a chance of being a playable character it's not the end of the world or anything but oh well it's at least an experimental concept that i'm glad they implemented to make the boards more engrossing you can also tag team with other players and they all have custom team names which is hilarious and the capsules are interesting because they work like items but you get them randomly and don't pay for them i don't hate this but i'm conflicted on the idea of not being able to choose i generally like the aspect of choice but they are also free so i can't really complain that much there are a few great standout minigames too like coney island pushy penguins and hotel goomba if i'm coming back to a gamecube mario party i'm likely to play this one four or six 53 new super mario bros 2. yeah i'm surprised i'm putting this above the wii version too the level themes are yet again the same and they removed some futures like coin battle and yoshi and yet i enjoy going back to this game more i don't know what it is the levels just feel more bite-sized and better compacted i think it's because they weren't designed with four players in mind so they were able to better focus on tighter level design there is a co-op mode where you can play the whole game with someone else which i absolutely love and is honestly better than running around with four people and as stupid as this is gold mario is awesome he just destroys everything enemies dying you get coins from them tons of blocks at once can get eviscerated it's the definition of stupid fun there's something so satisfying about collecting a lot of coins it makes the game way too easy but it's strangely enjoyable getting hundreds of thousands of them per level this was also the first mario game to have dlc levels i kind of wish they weren't dlc but the levels are at least fun except for the impossible pack i know people like challenges but they took that seed way too damn far plus mega mario returns there's loads of bonus levels to unlock and new super mario bros 2 stands out because of the huge emphasis on coins i also kind of love how it's the only mario game to not introduce new enemies they literally just made versions of the old guys and slapped on gold or skeletons i almost appreciate their dedication to being lazy here 52 new super mario bros u plus new super luigi back to back on that new soup it's another 2d mario game and frankly i don't have much to add at this point that hasn't already been said there's a new power-up which of course is the flying squirrel it's a more balanced version of the propeller mushroom and it's useful but you can't sort through entire levels as easily there's also the baby yoshi's which i guess are a nice inclusion frankly i forgot they even existed and never use them the wii u version also adds a boost mode with a gamepad which lets you add blocks to the level this is another future that just feels worthless it doesn't really add to the game besides maybe saving someone from falling off a pit insane with nabit you just catch them to get some items it just kind of feels like a method to pat out the game time i do like the world map as it's all interconnected though and the level design is at its absolute best i just wish there were more levels like the van gogh ones that had really cool themes now i'm also adding new super luigi u to this since it ties in with the base game and it's even better since the levels are more challenging especially if you're going for the star coins it's essentially just more levels but combining them together gives you a lot to do and that's on top of the exceptionally fun challenge mode where you'll have to do things like get through a level without touching the ground or not getting hit or avoiding every coin 51 new super mario bros u deluxe it's one of nintendo's most basic wii u ports but it doesn't really do anything wrong per se for starters peachette is a new character which is kind of cool you get her by playing his toadette and grabbing the super crown which somehow led to balzette becoming a big thing years back the menu ui is also cleaned up and looks nice the graphics are slightly better you aren't forced to play as mario in single player and there's hints and bonus videos some people have complained about the shake being shared with a jump button instead of having its own dedicated button but it's pretty easy to get used to 50. mario kart 64 the very first mario kart i ever played and to this day i still have a soft spot for it the characters themselves are also 2d images instead of 3d which looks really strange today but it's fine the controls definitely take some getting used to if it's been a while but it still plays fairly well and the tracks are mostly great rainbow road royal raceway choco mountain moomoo farm wario stadium all of them have a special place in my soul and are forever ingrained in my mind heck i even like the rubber banding when playing at 150 cc sure it makes the game stupidly hard but that's honestly kind of nice when the modern mario kart games are so worried about annoying players that are miles ahead and first and they just kind of let you win you can combat rubber banding too if you just use your items correctly the music is infectious and so are the voice clips the sheer enthusiasm and energy coming from all the characters just makes me all warm inside the battle mode is still amazing it's something i can play for hours at a time if i wanted to you just can't top battle for mario kart 64 has replayability as a huge advantage it's always fun to go back to and pop in for a little bit 49. super mario bros 35 yes i know that it's impossible to play this game now because nintendo big stupid sometimes but i enjoyed it when it used to exist it's essentially taking mario bros 1 and making it a crazy battle royale you and 34 others try to survive the longest to end up on top by playing through levels sending enemies to other players and making sure you don't run out of time it's a strangely exhilarating experience one that i wouldn't have expected to enjoy so much sure the physics aren't as great as a more modern 2d mario but i think that adds to the difficulty you have to adapt to mario's momentum while also being under pressure to not die at all that's why you want to stock up on coins so you get a chance at getting the star which is amazing for this game the enemies you kill are sent to other players so getting something like stars or a fire flower makes it easier to send hammer bros and bowsers to other people it's a high risk high reward kind of scenario you're more likely to die going after tougher enemies but it's worth it to make your opponent's levels more challenging it's really too bad that you can't play this anymore i would have loved to have seen this updated with mario bros 2 3 world and even new super mario bros as extra game modes hell i'll pay money to get this back again it's a great concept that deserves to be expanded on 48. super mario land 2 6 golden coins holy guacamole the jump jumping quality from mario land 1-2 is pretty remarkable the sprites actually look good and are well detailed reminiscing the super mario world sprites a little bit it's very similar to mario land 1 but with more levels more music in the introduction to wario yup that's how he got his first start he's the final boss in this one and uses mario's own power-ups against him which is pretty neat the power-ups are what you'd expect but the carrot is a new one and is one of my favorites in the whole series if you're a fast button masher you can essentially float in the air for as long as you want to or until you get tired of mashing there's no buffer time between presses so he can just be chilling in the air for as long as you can go the zones are great as well we've got space a turtle where you literally walk into his mouth to enter and my favorite is the mario zone where you casually walk into his crotch it's all very unusual and i appreciate it for that reason the controls feel pretty nice and the music is really well done too however it is still on the game boy so it naturally has its limitations the main one being the screen crunch the sprites being bigger also means it's harder to see enemies coming at certain points 47. super mario 64 ds some may be surprised to not see this near the top of this video i mean it's one of nintendo's most ambitious remakes of all times they truly went all out for this one the biggest change being playable yoshi luigi and wario with all unique attributes yoshi can of course make eggs wario's super strong and luigi is a god among men they also added one extra star to each course brand new courses and even new bosses everything looks a lot nicer and there's even a massive batch of unlockable mini games that you get by finding glowing bunnies throughout the castle nobody seems to touch on the minigames but they're a great part of this game their existence is mostly to showcase the touchscreen capabilities but i loved all the luigi's casino stuff bobbum squad and sorter explode a lot of the mini-games are really addicting and still fun to play to this day but now we get to the one drawback and that's unfortunately the controls i know that some people think they're fine and i agree but that's the problem they're just fine trying to make a 3d game work on a d-pad must have been challenging and also not really possible to do on a truly feasible level the controls are extremely janky and the physics are wonky as well you have very little control when long jumping there's a run button and turning just doesn't feel good like in general the game isn't that fun to move around in i've given mario 64 ds so many chances but it's just never gonna match the precision of the original game which is kind of the point of a mario game it's supposed to be fun to simply run around 46. super mario 3d land hey look another handheld 3d adventure this time the controls are a bit more bearable since they were developed around the 3ds circle pad they still don't feel fluid but it's much better than mario 64 ds this is also of course a brand new game it took the concept of a 2d mario level and made it 3d it blends both of the ideas together to create an assorted experience the levels are much shorter than usual which makes sense since they're trying to cater to a handheld audience that's more likely to play on the go while it's a fairly fun game it does feel a little dry the worlds don't even attempt to be interconnected the level themes change from level to level which i guess in a way is refreshing but it also makes each place feel drab of excitement it's almost like i'm just going down a checklist doing my chores the power-ups are really cool though i like that they brought back the tanooki leaf but it is a little strange to focus so much on it it's even in the game's logo for crying out loud their new power-ups are basically just the boomerang flower and invincibility leaf so i get that they aren't as interesting but it's weird to harness nostalgia while also creating a brand new game style you can also unlock luigi which is nice and he controls differently as you'd expect there are a lot of levels to play which is appreciated plus you can still get star medals and all that fun jazz 45. new super mario bros the one that started it all the beginning of nintendo delving into a staleness for the franchise because this game sold so freaking well regardless of that stale phase that lasted for about a decade or so it's still my favorite game out of the series it had been quite a long time since nintendo had made a new 2d mario so it was awesome getting to play one again after so long what's really nice about this one is that it makes the most attempts at creativity the main bosses in each world are unique and interesting we've got mummy pokey cheap skipper lackey thunder mega goomba and a few others on top of that they aren't really hard per se but it's nice seeing something actually new and plus you had to beat two of these bosses as mini mario to unlock two worlds and that is not as easy as you'd think it'd be the power-ups are the highlight for sure the mega mushroom is just dumbly satisfying since you plow through everything in your path and the blue shell is such a bliss to soar around it i even made a whole video about beating the whole game while being in the blue shell that's how much i enjoy this power-up on top of the excellent single player we've got a bunch of mini games to play as well some of them are the same as mario 64 dss while some are brand new it's another mode that's fun to sing some hours into mario vs luigi is a mode that's kind of lost in time since nobody uses their ds for multiplayer anymore but you'd connect with someone else and battle it out to get more big stars than the other person 44. mario kart 7 it is indeed another mario kart game i guess mario kart 3ds didn't sound that great so they just stuck with a number that they were up to control wise it's much more polished than mario kart wii which already had great controls you have to wait to drift still but i guess that's just gonna be a thing for every mario kart in the future the graphics are extremely impressive even to this day the details and texture work is crafted in a wonderful way the biggest change for this one is hang gliders and the ability to drive underwater it reminds me a lot of sonic and all-stars racing transformed but in a more tame fashion these feel like natural extensions to the mario kart formula enter welcome additions that we'll likely see until the end of time the character roster is also pretty great but waluigi is omitted for some reason and they even brought back waluigi's pinball so i'm not sure what's up with that for the first time you can customize your tires and gliders and that's on top of your cart which is really neat since they all have different stats and whatnot the brand new items are honestly a bit weak you've got the fire flower which is okay the super leaf which is almost useless and then the lucky 7 is just a bunch of old items at once the online is pretty good though in fact it's probably the best part about this title that and the new tracks my goodness have they continued to up their game on the track design rainbow road maka wuhu wario shipyard piranha plant sly all these are amazing and are going to be cherished for decades to come my one issue with this game is the lack of a versus mode no like seriously they just don't have one if you want to play just one track you have to go online or play an entire grand prix ensure there's time trials but that's just you racing and nobody else i have no idea why this super basic mode is missing but it is for some reason and it's incredibly lame especially since this is a hand-held game that needed a bigger focus on single-player content 43 super paper mario one of the more divisive paper mario titles some fans hate that it completely changed direction with the rpg formula while others like how different and experimental it is while i prefer the rpg gameplay of the first two paper mario titles i had a lot of fun with this game as well the best thing about it is the story holy sh they went completely wild with this one it starts with bowser and peach getting married then mario learned how to switch from the 2d in 3d dimensions then you're in outer space flying around then you go to literal hell and come back and finally you confront the game's antagonist count black i love this bad guy and not just because he's brand new but because he actually feels like a threat he just wants to destroy all known worlds under any circumstances and wants to create a perfect world of his own the storytelling is extremely well done and compelling and keeps you hooked from world to world throughout the game you get to play as mario luigi peach and even bowser every character has unique abilities and keeps the action fresh and it's not even just them keeping things fresh the game itself is constantly changing genres you'll go from platformer to space shooter to dating sim to traditional rpg games rarely defy expectations like this one and it surely works wonders to keep things entertaining albeit the genres aren't that well fleshed out i also admit that the gameplay drags on at times some chapters feel way longer than they should and the pixels are also very forgettable i think the problem is that there's too many of them and they all kind of look the same so it's hard to differentiate them apart so if you don't mind the drastic change in gameplay you've got a mario game with one hell of an intriguing story 42. super mario 3d all-stars yes i know this game has three incredible 3d mario games on it but i'm not going to give it that much of a pass and yes mario 64 mario sunshine and mario galaxy are all fully playable and they do look nice but look at the name of this title it says 3d all-stars which would imply based off the original all-stars game that this is a remixed full collection of the 3d mario games well where is mario galaxy 2 what about mario 64 ds or even mario 3d land also these games aren't remakes they're upgraded by the smallest means possible that they could get away with mario 64 had some textures and text redone mario's sunshine is in widescreen and mario galaxy's spin is mapped to a button instead of shaking the updates are nice i'm not gonna lie but they're so minimal when they could have done so much more at the very least mario 64 should have been in widescreen and had some actual texture updates as well as run at 60 frames per second every game could have had modernized graphics but they just didn't do that now there's a chance that 2020 being 2020 affected some of their plans but wasn't this collection planned farther in advance how much development time was put into this to begin with even the menu is boring to look at the only extra content is the soundtracks no illustrations no promotional videos no behind the scenes nothing of that nature and mario 64 still has laggy audio sunshine had the debug cubes when it first launched i just don't understand how nintendo can treat their most cherished games so poorly 41. paper mario the origami king this is quite the interesting paper mario to talk about i personally enjoyed it for what it is but at the same time it could have made a few small changes to make the entire game all the better the story is basically paper vs origami king ollie has taken over the mushroom kingdom and everything that gets folded turns evil while a lot of paper mario fans find this to be cliche i honestly think it's an interesting enough plot to roll with you'll travel around five massive worlds and need to destroy five streamers exploring the levels is one of my favorite parts of origami king it's really nice finding all the little secrets and filling holes with your origami bits it's literally the same thing as paint and color splash but it's origami instead the graphics are pretty damn good i'd say it's one of nintendo's nicest looking games to date the music on the other hand is hit or miss i enjoy the battle theme but a lot of the overworld stuff is kind of forgettable now to talk about the controversial stuff we'll start with the ring battle system in which you fight enemies by lining them up and attacking them you have a nice variety of items to use and you don't feel like your items are useless this time since they don't break as quickly unfortunately the battles themselves are devoid of any strategy which ironically makes them two-dimensional in this three-dimensional space if you can line up the enemies correctly you basically win the timer doesn't mean much either since you can increase it and even get help lining up the enemies for you the ring system in general is okay but i'd much rather have been kind of like thousand year door of the original game then we've got the partners they're just generic mario enemies or characters again which is still incredibly lame and yes they technically help you in battle but they don't even have their own moves and you don't even control them they just kind of hop in whenever they feel like it it's almost like they slap this future in as some sort of attempt to appease their audience with that said i really enjoyed the bosses finding a hole puncher in scissors is a lot more terrifying than you'd expect it may come off as super lazy but honestly i think it works in the game's favor it's interesting how purple streamer literally just turns into zelda the wind waker by the way the sailing to different islands the ice value mental mountain it's cool yet really bizarre look i don't hate this game or anything but it really would have been better with just normal partners in a normal battle system 40. mario party 6 by far the best mario party on the gamecube it has this great day and night system for each board and what that entails is changes to the gameplay which can alter your route pretty drastically since the day to night cycle is consistent you can plan ahead and try to figure out which route is gonna make the most sense to get the stars to win we've got six boards as well as three solo boards that's quite a bit for just one game they've all got pretty engrossing futures especially clockwork castle since you have to chase donkey kong on the board during the day to get a star but at night dk is replaced by bowser there's also mike mini games which work well enough they aren't the greatest mini games ever but i appreciate the experimentation regardless the regular ones are still a blast per usual some of the highlights including still world what goes up catch you letter and rocky road while it looks very similar to the other gamecube titles it stands out as the best of the bunch 39. marion luigi dream team alpha dream realized how much people liked bowser's inside story so they tried to make the same thing again except this time you're inside luigi's dream this is also when the art style changed and while it's obviously much more detailed in the pixel art it feels a lot more lifeless so how does luigi end up asleep anyway basically he finds this bed to sleep on a portal opens and peach gets sucked in none of this makes any sense which is exactly how i like it despite the premise it does kind of feel like the dream concept isn't fully utilized the levels really aren't that interesting you would think they would have done more than show luigi wanting to be more like his brother but hey the giant battles are still a lot of fun in fact they're even better than bowser inside story considering you can use a variety of attacks like jumping in the hammer it's also pretty cool that you can unlock a hard mode although i don't see why that couldn't have been an option from the very beginning but hey difficulty options in mario games are a rarity to begin with the music is also fantastic as it is in most of these games neverlet up in particular absolutely slaps but now we have to get to the bad parts which takes the game's fun down quite a bit thoughtful isn't the main bad guy again this time it's antasma who is decent enough i guess but the main issue is the massive amount of tutorials and pacing there are so many freaking tutorials it feels like a modern pokemon game level since you can't skip them it would have been nice if there was a way to skip or at least fast forward through them and frankly the game is just way too long it feels like so much could have been trimmed out but just wasn't because they wanted it to be bigger than bowser's inside story it's still fun but it could have been so much better 38 mario and luigi paper jam the title alone is extremely intriguing a mario luigi game that crosses over with paper mario sounds like it could be a great time i could almost imagine thoughtful and count black decide to team up to take over the world so it's up to mario luigi paper mario and paper luigi to save the day by finding the star spirits and the miracle cure or something to overpower them however that's not at all what happened the game was released around when sticker star was released which also has little to no originality instead we've got is both of the bowsers teaming up to take both of the peaches i mean i guess i should have predicted that to happen but it's really disappointing considering this is a crossover game where are the paper mario partners what about the being people from mario luigi there's no reason that these original characters couldn't mingle with each other to at least some extent whether or not alpha dream took the easy way out on purpose is hard to say nintendo may have forced them to stick with basic characters only because it involved paper mario which had its creative roots ripped out completely who knows what happened but at least the game itself is still fun simply seeing mario luigi with paper mario is charming enough on its own but no paper luigi for some reason i guess it's because they all move around at the same time i'm not really sure our paper luigi is absent the game is at least paced way better than dream team and doesn't have a million tutorials you can also fast forward through cut scenes which is very appreciated the combat is still fun there's more giant battles to tackle and the special moves are pretty interesting it's just too bad they didn't do more with the game the story starts with the paper characters flying out of a book so it just seems like the opportunity was right there paper jam is still fun enough it's just a bit forgettable 37 mario party superstars currently the newest mario party game in the franchise the developers actually listen to what the majority of people want the old board formula to return and what we got is one of the most enjoyable mario party games to this date it takes five of the n64 boards and 105 mini games from mario party 1 through 10. so it's basically like the top 100 but with the actual boards the gameplay feels very similar to how it does on the n64 the dice blocks let you roll one through 10. stars are 20 coins again most of what we loved is here the mini game selection is fantastic too there's hardly a dud in there which is pretty impressive and the graphics look fantastic i mean peach's birthday cake just as an example makes my mouth water from those textures like damn however it doesn't quite hit the mark perfectly but it very well could if there's future dlc and updates the character selection is fairly small i'm not sure why they downscaled from 20 in super mario party to just 10 in superstars maybe they'll add more characters in the future but that just seems like a weird thing to downgrade the only real issue here is the coin economy yes the stars are 20 coins again and the golden pipe is priced appropriately as well but the issue is all the lucky spaces there are way too many of them and they're way too generous as well it's very likely that by the end of a 10 or 15 turn game at least one or more people will have over 100 coins and you'd think that the koopa bank would have helped balance this coin issue out but no they lowered the deposit to three coins instead of five unless it's the last five turns of the game and you still get pity coins when losing minigames sometimes but otherwise everything else functions perfectly if they just removed most of the lucky spaces and replace them with blue spaces as well as add more boards and characters this could be the best mario party of all time the pacing is amazing you can pick between the remix and classic board music you can fast forward through event spaces you don't watch computers play item mini games the core gameplay is perfected for the most part 36. mario party ds it's the one with that totally legit anti-piracy screen yeah remember that it's actually a super underrated mario party game it's everything we wanted out of mario party advance plus more and it has more of an emphasis on single player each board has a boss mini game which we're all a blast to play through what i love is how the story directly contrasts with the entire game bowser shrinks everyone so everybody is running around as tiny people in wiggler's garden or toe desk music room and so on and so forth even the mini games take this shrunk idea and focus around it with greats like camera shy rail riders get the let out and soap surfers i really wish the other mario party games would create a basic theme and use that as an inspiration for the boards and minigames like this one has it's also pretty cool that they brought back a bunch of puzzle mini games from previous titles with my favorite being peace out from mario party 5. the only real downside is the items they aren't the most interesting and there aren't that many boards either but i'll give it a pass since this is on the ds 35 super mario maker i always wanted this game to exist as a kid so it was a magical moment when it actually released on the wii u as implied you make your own mario levels and can play thousands upon thousands of others it has a very mario paint-esque feel to it things like the title screen are interactable and the editor has lots of cute details that make creating levels a great time there are four different game styles mario bros 1 3 world and new super mario bros u each of them obviously look different but also have different physics and the same rules that each respective game has that is pretty incredible it opens the door for so many level possibilities there's also lots of course themes to pick from lots of course elements and enemies plus there's quite a few power-ups while the customization is nice there's definitely a few weird things missing like slopes as an example i'm not sure why those weren't included but it's not really that big of a deal there is so much mixing and matching that you can do too you can put coins in a bullet blaster or have a chain chomp ride a clown car or stack random enemies on top of each other if you're creative person you're gonna have an amazing time building your own levels especially since the wii u gamepad is built for this but then there's being the player and actually playing these levels this is where the game kind of falters generally speaking 1 out of every 10 to 15 levels are fun most of these levels are either thrown together in five minutes or so stupid hard that it isn't enjoyable it makes sense that this happens because these are all user levels but there isn't much of a filter for the bad stuff you just kind of have to play them unless you're following specific creators there are difficulty modes which is nice but even so it's still hard to find great levels i do appreciate how many different character skins you can use in the mario bros 1 style that makes playing much more interesting since you can build say a mega man or a zelda themed level and have it be that much more convincing 34. super mario maker 2 it's very similar to the first game but it has many more new pieces a brand new game style and is missing all the amiibo costumes which is pretty sad the biggest update is introducing super mario 3d world as a game style that's pretty bizarre considering it's a 3d game but at the same time it's cool that they managed to make it work there's also a more proper story mode with a bunch of levels that nintendo themselves created with the game's editor so it's cool to see what they were able to come up with on top of that is endless challenge which is basically 100 mario challenge with slightly different rules as well as ninja speed runs which are levels that are meant to be sped run i really like ninji speedrun because it's fun playing well designed levels and trying to improve your time over and over again as for the editor it's been expanded on quite a lot with more course themes way more bosses and many more chorus elements in general the only issue is actually building them without the wii u gamepad there's no longer an easy way to design levels doing this with a controller is a bit clunky and then in handheld mode you can't see what you're doing on the tv and your finger gets in the way a lot it's not like it's the end of the world but it was definitely easier to make levels in the first game i do love the addition of the master sword and super ball flower it's just like the amiibo costumes but with different moves while that's pretty cool i'd honestly have just preferred to have like 100 costumes to pick from the super hammer is neat too since boulder mario wasn't really a playable character outside of being a costume in mario odyssey now you can actually use his hammer to break hard blocks i kind of wish that 3d world's elements would have blended more with the other four it feels like it's more of its own thing when it doesn't need to be there's also clear conditions so if you want someone to get all the coins or avoid taking damage you can do that playing the levels is basically the same experience as mario maker 1. most levels suck and you have to really dig for the new ones but at least you can play online with friends although the connection quality is very hit or miss mario maker 2 is technically better than the first game but it's also missing a few features that are dearly missed 33. mario party 3 the n64 mario party games tend to go back and forth on which ones are the best i've always found the third game to be the worst of the bunch but that doesn't make it a bad thing it introduced two characters that will forever be included in the spin-off titles mario and luigi oh and also waluigi and daisy yeah they're in there too for shits and giggles yeah there's six main boards as well as six dual boards so you've got a lot to pick from you can hold more than one item which is nice plus the mini games are pretty great you can purchase a reverse mushroom from baby bowser which lets you move backwards it's such an interesting idea that's worth bringing up because it's never been explored since mario party 3 has just about everything you could love from a mario party game although the boards themselves are just all right i don't know what it is something about them just doesn't stand out much compared to the first and second game the dual boards are also just all right you don't play any mini games and you're just trying to attack the other players so it's decent as a side mode it's a mario party where daisy slaps bowser into the hemisphere which makes it objectively a top 3 pick 32 super mario advance being a kid and having no idea these were remakes of the nes titles these are extremely well crafted and enjoyable this game has super mario bros 2 with the mario bros arcade game included every mario advance has this arcade title because why not throw that in too right but mario bros 2 plays almost identically outside of being a lot easier getting access to hearts can be done by just killing a couple of enemies or pulling them from the ground the characters are also noisy now and are constantly shouting while jumping around like i kind of get why they're doing that but there's also a point where it's just too many sound effects these however are very small drawbacks to what's a very solid remake 31 super mario bros 2 insert the part where i tell you about the super wacky doki doki panic fact but anyway you pick between 4 mario characters and play through levels to defeat wart i love how drastically different this game is from the original you don't save peach there's no bowser the enemies are weird birdo is a mini boss and the controls are much better they might be a touch slippery for some but i think they work great for this style of game peach of course is the best girl because she can float and make precise jumps like it's nothing most of the stages are fun to play although a couple of them are too long or extremely challenging slash confusing the biggest drawback to mario bros 2 is the lack of a save feature this game really needed that seeing how hard it gets near the end otherwise it's a classic that's extremely fun to go back to again and again it has this strange approachable vibe to it that i can't quite put my finger on 30. mario party the one that started it all it's the most evil party out of the bunch and that's why i like it so much to put it bluntly this game hates you it wants you to suffer it wants you to have seething anger towards its unfair mechanics hell it wants to cause physical pain to your palm with games like paddle battle and tug of war and that's why it's so great you go through suffering and pain with your friends and coming out on top makes it all the more rewarding it finds this weird balance of fun and unfairness that most games can't match if you lose a mini-game you're giving your coins to the bank or to other players bowser calls you fat and yoshi's tropical island if you put on his bowser tube chance time can flip your cards in a matter of seconds the event space in bowser's magma mountain turns all the blue spaces red you can't feel growth if there isn't pain and mario party exemplifies that life lesson to a t 29 mario party 2. while not quite as sadistic as the first game it at least pulls all the good minigames from mario party 1. plus there's a lot of new ones like shell shocked lava tile isle and shock dropper roll that are simply incredible overall the boards are much more enjoyable to play on and still have some of that if you get hit with a laser in space lane as an example you lose all your coins whether you like it or not other boards like western horror and pirate land are also fantastic what i do appreciate is that the characters dress up for how the boards look as an example everybody wears spacesuits in spaceland the effort for little details like that goes a long way and the introduction to items is a serious staple that adds so much to the boards things like the plunder chest and magic lamp can spruce up the game quite drastically i feel like objectively this is the best mario party game and i don't know if it's ever going to be topped 28. mario luigi partners in time what are the most accurate subtitles for a video game you have partners and you go back and forth with time mari and luigi plus the babies time travel from the past to the present to save peach as well as team up with their baby versions the plot has some dark moments for a mario luigi game as well i really appreciate when nintendo games have dark twists like this it sticks out among the rest of the safe family-friendly plots we typically see the battle system is basically what you'd expect it's the same as superstar saga which is nice but it's also more complex when the babies are involved they're controlled with the x and y buttons which makes sense but when all four characters are together it can be a bit confusing for which buttons work with what and who but maybe that's just me something that is a bit annoying is the baby's constant crying it's not as bad as yoshi's island but there are times when i wish they'd just shut the hell up like i get it they're babies also the final boss takes this massive jump in difficulty out of nowhere like seriously not only does elder princess shroom have a ton of health but her attacks are really difficult to avoid oh and by the way get used to using the bros items because that's the only thing that's gonna be effective by the end of the game it's a little weird how much of an advantage they have over everything else it doesn't feel quite as balanced as it should but regardless it's still a mario luigi game and you're still gonna have a pretty good time with it 27. mario and luigi's superstar saga plus bowser's minions it's basically a superstar saga with a little more to do and some quality of life features thrown in there's not much to say about the main game outside of the graphics this is a very subjective matter but i much prefer how the game looks on the gba i think the issue is the characters aren't nearly as expressive that's what brings them to life this remake does look quite nice clearly effort was put into this but i just prefer the pixel art so really the art style factor could be interchanged as for the new bowser's minions mode well it sure is a new mode it expands on superstar saga's story but the gameplay is not worth putting up with you basically play as the enemies and put together squads enemies working together as an army sounds like a cool idea on paper but in reality it's extremely tedious and shallow it's just a very grindy side mode that doesn't really need to be here 26. mario luigi's superstar saga the very first in the franchise and it's one of the best mario rpgs out of them all in the bean bean kingdom kakleta and fawful steal peach's voice and it's up to us to get it back as bizarre as that plot might sound the pacing for the game is a lot better and generally more thought out compared to partners in time instead of the plot mostly focusing on getting the cobalt shards there's a bigger variety of conflict at first you'll make your way to a village to get some hammers but then the hammerhead bros don't have the materials you need so you have to climb up a mountain to get them yourself i guess the best way to put it is that everything feels a bit more involved if that makes sense the battle system consists of jumping using your hammer and using bros attacks unlike partners in time bros attacks aren't items and are used with bp bros points this in my opinion is a much better way to go about special attacks since you can't abuse the system and use nothing with these attacks you have to conserve your bp i also really love the music in this game all of it fits each world wonderfully and is extremely catchy the sprite art is extremely well done and is simply nice to look at you know i almost wish when mario games were forced to look like this sometimes oh but that final boss though like partners in time cacletta is extremely challenging and will likely take you quite a while to beat 25. mario kart double dash wow nintendo trying something experimental and pulling it off welcome to the nintendo gamecube era double dash takes the idea of mario kart and throws two racers on one cart simultaneously this allows you to hold two items at once switch drivers on the fly as well as strategize on which characters to use considering they utilize special items these items add a lot to the gameplay and help each character have their own advantages and disadvantages bowser has the comically large bowser shell peach has the hearts and koopa troopa has uh triple green shells i mean i get it he's a koopa but that special item is kind of stupid to limit to just a couple characters technically king boo and pd piranha can use all the special items but my point still stands while there aren't that many tracks the ones we do have are works of art in motion dk mountain mushroom bridge peach beach waluigi stadium all these tracks are a blast to race on i also love how manual drifting is drastically improved compared to mario kart 64. it's much easier to use and more accessible then you've got that battle mode pipe plaza and nintendo gamecube being the main highlights of course bob on blast is a pretty awesome new mode where you just chuck a billion bombs of your color to score points and win there's something really satisfying about seeing a thousand explosions this is also the first mario kart to introduce custom carts and they're unlocked by playing the game normally in that cart you see at the end of every grand prix yep you can unlock that at the very end and have maxed out stats for better for worse heck there's even a land mode where you can race with up to 16 players at once that is still wild to me to this day 24. super mario world super mario advance 2. it's another game boy advance port and it's pretty much what you'd expect the main difference is the compressed audio it honestly doesn't sound very good but that makes sense because of the hardware there's also no two-player mode but again it's not the end of the world it's still super mario world an extremely awesome game for the following reasons 23. super mario world i imagine a lot of people would have placed this game in their top 10 mario games ever but for me it's a fun one that i generally only go back to when i have to compared to mario bros 3 it looks much better and is much more colorful and vibrant like i'll give it that of course the cape feather is also a joy to use at least once you get used to its strange controls there are an immense amount of secrets to find that's probably my favorite part about this game the amount of levels hidden within the hub world is extravagant and each of them are pretty enjoyable to play with that said i don't really like how the game controls mario moves much more suddenly and doesn't take very much time to build speed it's not bad at all but it makes the game feel a bit slippery at times honestly it's probably just me not being used to the momentum but i believe others have shared the same thoughts that i do there's also a downgrade in how many power-ups you have gone is the frog hammer and tanooki suit now we basically just have the fire flower in cape feather i guess yoshi does make up for it this was his first appearance and brings a lot of excitement to the game seeing a yoshi egg brings a smile to your face since he's a lot of fun to use he can eat enemies berries and depending on the color spit out flames and even fly there's even a special zone that you can unlock that contains eight of the most challenging levels in the whole game so while it's a fun game i'm likely to always prefer mario bros 3 for the controls and the better power-ups 22 paper mario the one that started off the series even though it's technically a sequel to mario rpg whatever and one of the few that doesn't feel an incessant need to constantly talk about the whole world being paper-ized the paper only exists in this game to conserve space on the cartridge and nothing beyond that your goal here is to save peach i know huge surprise and stop bowser in his star rod you have to bring together the seven star spirits in order to do this and you'll explore eight worlds while fighting with a simple yet intuitive rpg system the battles consist of you jumping smashing a hammer using items or your star energy the star energy is pretty interesting because it upgrades as you get through the chapters and each new attack requires more energy but is generally more useful than the last there's also a ton of badges which can affect all your stats so even though the system itself is simple there's a lot of depth hidden inside i really like all the partners you find along the way too not only do they all have unique attack options but they're filled with personality this whole game is covered head to toe with exciting characters and dialogue it's a fun world to be inside my favorite partner of course being lady beau for her sass and that smug face she always carries then you've got all the bosses and mini bosses many of them being original and really fun to tackle exploring each world is really cool although it does get a bit tiresome at times that's kind of a theme i've noticed with a lot of the mario rpgs but with this one it doesn't seem to happen quite as much 21. mario kart wii i've heard so many people claim how this game has aged horribly and it's just not fun to play anymore i somewhat agreed for a long time until i properly played it again you just gotta use the ultimate combination funky kong with the flame runner it's not the only good one obviously but once you get used to the super sharp turning with that bike it enhances all the tracks tremendously maple tree wave koopa cape wario's gold mine coconut mall to this day these are still some of the most creative and enjoyable mario kart tracks of all time it's amazing how well this game is aged it even has a very solid selection of retro tracks with pics like the final square in dk mountain the characters are also fantastic we've already talked about the funky fella but there's also playable knees dry bowser rosalina bowser jr and tons more it's quite a varied roster and has only been rivaled by mario kart 8 deluxe on top of the massive amount of tracks and characters is lots of battle mode stages although i have to say that forcing a timer and respawning after losing your balloons makes the battle mode pretty lame the online mode at the time was also great you could actually get into matches and have a decent time with it the only bad thing i'd say is a couple of the items the pal block and lightning are pretty annoying in particular but i don't feel like they dragged the whole game down 20. yoshi's island super mario advance 3. like every other mario advance game it features a great mario classic with mario bros wrapped in to give it a fair shot yoshi's island looks pretty damn cool for being on the game boy advance i'm impressed with how well they've been able to compress the graphics it's not bad but you might as well just play the original and here's why 19. super mario world 2 yoshi's island although nobody in the history of the universe has ever considered this to be a sequel to super mario world you play as yoshi on a simple adventure to bring baby mario back to baby luigi it's got a very cute and delicate art style that is aged remarkably well it almost looks like you're in a child's coloring book it's a sheer delight just exploring the levels and seeing how everything looks while you can still jump on enemies to take them out some of them require you to use eggs to get through the egg mechanic is surprisingly simple you just eat an enemy turn it into an egg and then aim your shot to fire it's actually quite a unique take on a platformer it's one that hasn't really been replicated outside of all the other yoshi titles the levels are full of secrets which are fun to replay over and over if you're going for all the hidden goodies and don't even get me started on that music every piece is composed wonderfully and is an absolute eargasm it's impossible to not hum along to each song as it encapsulates joy each boss is really cool too especially the one where you get eaten by a frog and have to hit froggy's uvula to escape and my god that final boss is simply incredible bowser jr grows into a massive monster and you have to throw eggs at a different angle that you've never done before and nail his mouth a bunch of times before he reaches you i haven't even gotten into the various transformation that yoshi obtains like the helicopter and mold tank and all the secret levels you can unlock too now i know what you're thinking baby mario crying is super annoying and yeah it can be but it doesn't happen as often as you'd think most of the time you can retrieve maybe mario in a matter of seconds yoshi's island is such a great game and i wish more people would rave about it 18. mario and luigi bowser's inside story plus bowser jr's journey quite possibly the most pointless remake of all time and maybe even the longest mario title ever like seriously i had to take a breath to read that entire thing off we all know bowser's inside story is an incredible game and we'll get into that soon but why was this made when you could already play that on the 3ds there's probably a reason that this was the worst selling mario game ever like with superstar saga the art style is gonna be very subjective for which version looks better i still prefer the original but again this remake does look very nice there is a drop in the frame rate and the overall game is paced slightly slower but they're fairly minor changes that most people aren't gonna care about as for the bowser jr journey side mode it's basically the same as bowser's minions from superstar saga outside of some new characters i'm not sure why they bothered when most people didn't care for it originally but whatever that's a little extra game to play 17. mario and luigi bowser's inside story holy crap what a massive step in the right direction this series took you spent half the time either controlling bowser in the main world and the other half inside of bowser trying to fix things and make him more powerful both of these concepts on their own would have been incredible as games but they took both ideas and made them work in harmony bowser is such a joy to play as he can swing massive punches and breathe fire to take down trees and boulders this is one of those rare occurrences in which i like a character being a little stupid because bowser is so naive he gets himself in so much trouble that could have been easily avoided and as the game moves on he slowly learns from his mistakes but is still kind of an idiot overall mario luigi as well as bowser have completely different battle systems too which is akin to how it wasn't partners in time but it's so much better mario and luigi have the typical special moves while bowser uses his army of basic enemies like goombas and shy guys to deal extra damage and they're no longer items that you have to buy which is great you'll use the sp very carefully mario and luigi are also blessed with snack basket which makes luigi dummy thick and does massive damage on enemies funny enough mario and bowser also have moments where they get super big and chalky i love that it's a theme in a weird sort of sense you've also got giant bowser battles where you have to physically toast your ds to fight things like uh bowser's castle and yes this actually makes sense when you play the game these fights are pretty cool and surprisingly don't feel tacked on as usual the bosses are fantastic and faw falls back as the villain which is awesome the fight with dark balzer and the dark star core is so damn cool because of how amazing the final boss music is but also because it requires you to switch back and forth between mario and luigi as well as bowser this mechanic is used lots of time throughout bowser's inside story but it's extremely well implemented with the final fight if you play any of the mario luigi games this is the one to dive into 16. super mario sunshine probably the most indecisive 3d mario of all time some claim that it's extremely underrated while others hate it beyond reasoning i'm in the camp of liking it more than eating away at its flaws but let's get into the juicy details shadow mario spreads his ghoul over an island and mario gets thrown into jail with his weapons i already love how stupid this plot is then you basically go around cleaning the final plaza by going into worlds and collecting shines my favorite part however is how deep and expansive the hub world is not only is it fun to hop around the tops of buildings and soar across the water there's actually a lot of secrets to find cleaning these shines gives you shines breaking through this door takes you to a secret stage and there's underground paths with hidden blue coins now yes the blue coins a very big talking point about why this game sucks well i also hate getting all of them there's not much of an incentive to do it besides technically completing the game you don't need a single shine from the blue coins to get to the final boss and trial the levels they're just there if you're looking for more to do each level takes the beach concept and tries to make each level stand out i still feel like i'm one of the only ones that appreciates the developers working with a smaller scope and driving as much creativity as they can we've got a hotel level an aisle with a big windmill a theme park a beach with what looks like contains solar panels and so on and so forth it's still so neat what they managed to accomplish and i'd honestly love to see nintendo drive home on one theme again maybe with something like a western or ice the controls are going to be a mixed bag for some too but personally i think they're extremely fluid and precise maybe even a little too precise as mario's movement is very sensitive but once you get a handle on that you'll be flying around the levels like a maniac and even better flood can help assist you with incorrect jumps thanks to the hover nozzle it's the one thing that people initially complained about with mario 64. so nintendo found a solution that fixed it they still kind of do this with the spin jumping mario galaxy and cappy with mario odyssey plus there's the rocket and turbo nozzle which gives you massive speed and vertical and horizontal movement now of course there's the bonus levels that take away flood but you love those regardless because of the infectious tunes that play plus the boss fights are pretty fun and the game isn't afraid to get difficult at the end now yes the pachinko machine and lily pad ride are horrible levels but every mario games got its share of horrible levels it doesn't really deter from the entire experience if you ask me 15. mario kart 8 as of right now this is still the most modern version of a normal mario kart game even after all this time it still feels like it came out recently because of how well it plays this is one of the smoothest racing games just in general the controls feel so perfectly refined that i can't imagine how they could improve after this besides maybe bringing back manual drifting and inward steering the character selection is pretty good too although the koopalings take up a lot of slots and then there's pink gold peach enough said all the tracks though feel purified every single one is a joy to play on and they all look beautiful the art style is perfect and is likely to age extremely well over time the online mode is of course back and is pretty darn good sometimes it's difficult to get into matches or there's lag between racers but you don't ever feel it on your end mario kart 8 also had dlc which introduced characters like lincoln isabel as well as amazing tracks like big blue hyrule circuit and super bell subway as an example speaking of tracks there are so many great ones including mount wario electrodrome shy guy falls and sunshine airport all the retro tracks have been modified to a point that they feel like brand new courses as well and then there's the items which are great and i especially enjoy the super horn but i do wish coins didn't come up as often as they did there was even a random crossover between mercedes-benz and mario kart i mean why not i guess and i haven't even brought up the anti-gravity which lets you drive on the ceilings and walls i don't have an issue with this but it doesn't really feel like a very substantial gimmick since the controls are basically the same the only major downside however is the battle mode they just reuse tracks and let players turn really quickly it's horrible and nobody likes it but otherwise this game is fantastic 14. super mario 3d world the game that i originally thought looked like super mario 64. it's not at all like that but it's a game that i've grown to love more and more as it's aged over the years 3d world is like 3d land where you play a linear level and reach the flagpole but it's enhanced in every way imaginable you can control 5 different characters the controls are smoothed out the cat bell is an extremely versatile power-up the levels are much more interesting the music is fantastic and you can even play luigi bros if you have save data of new super luigi u every level is a joy to play through as well as finding all the stamps and green stars every character has their own attribute so there's a good incentive to play as all of them i'm in love with the bosses too with of course histocrat being one of the best ones champions road is another infamous level for the difficulty and lack of a single checkpoint despite being several levels long the switchboard manages to find ways to improve on this title but even so mario 3d world is still great to go back to 13. super mario all stars limited edition they could have put this on the virtual console but whatever the limited edition comes with a bunch of goodies so that's kind of cool the game itself is literally just super mario all-stars but it doesn't have super mario world included which is pretty stupid but even so you get 4 incredible remakes of the classic super mario bros games the graphics have all been spruced up dramatically it makes it worth playing through all these games again just to see all the changes the sounds have all been updated too and the controls are even better especially with mario bros 1 and 2. there's a lot of tiny differences here and there but i won't list them seeing as they're fairly minor it's nice that you can save your progress in each game especially with the lost level since the game is still hard as balls unlimited continues too so even if you get stuck you can just keep trying until you win i really wish mario 3d all-stars got the same treatment as this game did you know just want to throw it out there again 12. super mario all-stars plus super mario world it's literally the same game but they also included super mario world if you're going to try it mario all stars obviously just get this version instead for mere convenience and it's a better value 11. mario kart 8 deluxe officially the best-selling mario kart title it takes everything from mario kart 8 and just adds to it the biggest update being a proper battle mode with actual stages and an exclusive feather item from super mario kart which you can use to steal balloons there's even five different game modes including a new one called renegade roundup where you basically play cops vs robbers i adore the battle node but again it's like mario kart wiis where you respawn after losing balloons and are forced to have a time limit the game is otherwise the same however you can sometimes get double item blocks and you can get a purple boost for even more speed across turns gold mario is a new character and they even added lava support where you can use your cardboard to drive it's something i don't imagine anybody realistically trying but it's still cool that it exists there were some new cart pieces added as well as the woomies it's more stuff that you would expect for a port i honestly just kind of hope this game stops selling so well so nintendo will actually make a new mario kart game that isn't mario kart tour or mario kart live 10. super mario bros 3 super mario advance 4. i never owned this game on the actual cartridge but i did get it on the wii u for one reason in particular easy access to the e-reader levels the gba's e-reader had dozens of cards for super mario advance 4. it boils down to a total of 38 brand new stages these are the true loss levels and thankfully you can play them very easily through the wii u so not only do we get a remake of one of the best mario games of all time there's these bonus levels plus the port of mario bros from the arcade is still included it's all really great stuff and while the controls aren't quite as good as they are in the original game mario advance 4 is still more than playable 9. mario kart ds still by far the best mario kart game in the series and i've been saying that for years it may not have the biggest character roster or the most tracks but it definitely has the most fun the characters they picked are great i love how they just randomly put rob in and nobody questions how bizarre that choice was my favorite combination is of course dry bones with this dry bomber this car combination makes driving and drifting immensely gratifying yup that's right you can control your drifts and it's the best thing ever now sure people complain about the snaking but a very small minority of people actually do that and that trick takes a lot of skill to get good at anyway the tracks just so happen to have two of the best ones the series has seen still waluigi pinball and tick-tock clock both of them immerse you into their world so well and are designed so tightly that they are still incredible to drive through while this wasn't the first mario kart to introduce restroom tracks that was technically super circuit that did that it is the first to attempt full-blown recreations of the older stuff for ds hardware they still look pretty decent but then of course there was online which worked pretty well back in the day and you can make your own emblems and there's a mission mode which shockingly has never returned to a normal mario kart game the missions were amazing for the single player you had coin collecting stuff boss battles drive through gates it reminds me a lot of diddy kong racing's adventure mode the battle mode is also perfect since you can play with others locally or with cpus for the first time there was no time limit it's just you and some balloons on a few new stages as well as a couple retro including battle fort 8. super mario rpg legend of the seven stars ah yes the game where geno originated from and was never really seen again outside of a few references here and there i wasn't really sure what to expect when playing this for the first time last year and holy crap it's one of my favorite rpgs of all time and i don't typically play this genre super mario rpg just screams charm everything about it is charming the goofy looking character sprites the heartwarming music the battle system the completely over the top story it's so cool that you can use bowser in peach and fights with mario nowadays we've seen that kind of thing a lot but this was a radical concept when this was released they're both great to have in your party too as peach's healing abilities are so good that you can essentially avoid losing every fight with her on the team bowser and geno are both very powerful too if you need to hit hard and you'll need to do that later in the game as some of the bosses have tons of hp and are pretty tricky to fight there are so many interesting bosses too one of them that's optional called kulex who comes from the final fantasy series strangely this isn't the only time mario and final fantasy have mixed together this also happened in mario hoops 3 on 3 but now i'm just going on a side tangent the weapons and armor can range from being useful to completely broken if you want to know where the good stuff is hidden it's cool that you can pick and choose how you want to play since it takes a considerable amount of effort to get the items that'll make you powerful the music is extremely well done too and the story gets so goofy at times you'll go from fighting a cake to booster licking peach's tears to watching birdo hatch from an egg i love how ridiculous this gets i just wish that all mario rpgs were this wild with the story 7. super mario odyssey the most popular 3d mario game since mario 64. the idea of taking mario's hat and possessing other enemies with it is a wild one but that's what they ran with and it's a truly magical feeling while you can't capture everything over 50 enemies and objects can be controlled turn into a frog a dinosaur a tree a normal person i mean you never really know what to expect people had been craving a proper open world mario title for a long time and we finally got it with mario odyssey not only is each world a blast to run through but there is an immense amount of power moons to collect the controls are virtually perfect it's amazing how they found ways to continue to improve mario's movement and it's actually still getting better you can do a million different moves like bouncing off your cap diving triple jumping spinning your cap around long jumping wall jumping it's a lot and they're all seamless to pull off jump up superstars is an incredibly catchy song the final boss is one of the best the series has ever seen and you can even unlock a ton of mario costumes with your coins yes your coins have actual purpose as they're used to buy things from mario as well as a ship purple coins are back and can be used to buy things as well and lives are completely removed which hey it's about time they did that with all that said i have a few minor gripes with the game i don't get why the kingdoms are so drastically different in size i kinda wish they were all roughly the same cloud and ruin kingdom as an example almost look rushed and too tiny while cascaded metro look complete i also think that they went way way too hard on the power moon count this game did not need like 800 of these things to collect a lot of them just feel like a waste of time since so many missions repeat themselves like collecting nuts to grow plant talking to peach in the post game finding a taxi in the air and so on these things don't hurt the game necessarily but it does make it harder to replay especially if you're a completionist 6. super mario 3d world plus bowser's fury nintendo has been so sporadic with their wii u ports sometimes they put in next to no effort and sometimes you get gems like this all the minor issues that were in the original 3d world have either been fixed or enhanced completely some people thought the original game was a bit slow so now every character runs much faster and climbs higher with a cat suit it kind of breaks the game at some point but that just makes it more enjoyable if you ask me the ui is a lot cleaner you can skip cut scenes the captain toad levels can be played with four people you can roll in midair there's online to play the stamps are now colorful and can be used in snapshot mode the updates just make an already great game even better and that's not even including bowser's fury a brand new game that nintendo didn't even have to make but did anyway my god this new mode basically blends together mario 3d world and mario odyssey and makes something extremely wonderful you have to defeat fury bowser by collecting cat shines and you explore one massive open world level with bowser jr to help find them what's interesting is while this game is open world a lot of the platforming is more focused and to the point which is similar to mario odyssey but frankly it's better because the platforming is much more demanding you also get to use plussy to swim from island island which is insanely fun because you give yourself speed boost by jumping through the water everything about bowser's fury expresses pure joy within its gameplay mechanics you can hold on to multiple power-ups to save for later the bowser fights are great and you play as a super saiyan god each island has its own music i don't think i can praise this game enough my only real issue with bowser's fury is a lot of the shines have you do the same thing like collecting blue coins or break a bowser block i just hope that the next 3d mario is like bowser's fury but is way bigger and has a larger variety of missions 5. super mario galaxy it's a rare feeling to play a game and feel a genuine sense of warmth and adventure mario galaxy takes the idea of mario and flips it on its head in all the directions you can think of the typical levels are now dedicated planets each of them with multiple stars to collect these planets are linear in nature which is very different to mario 64 and sunshine but that's not a bad thing at all in fact the linear design allows for more fleshed-out and interesting design the controls have also been simplified but for a game like this that makes a lot more sense you don't need to be able to dive or slide kick for any reason it was unnecessary and the moves would be unused one of the best aspects beyond the incredible gameplay is the music i never would have thought that a fully orchestrated soundtrack would work for a mario game but it sure does and always brings a massive grin to my face this is a game that's gonna stand the test of time even 20 to 30 years from now 4. super mario galaxy 2. no matter how many times i have to say it i still feel that mario galaxy 2 is slightly better than the first game and i'm not discrediting the original obviously because there's definitely more charm in the first title with rosalina having an entire story and then there's the comet observatory and all that stuff personally though i like having more to play as this game uses all of its planets to its highest potential after clearing the game you can hunt for three green stars on every planet which adds a surprising amount of replay value i do kind of wish you wouldn't get booted out of the level after each star but that's a fairly minor issue i vastly prefer this over playing the entire game again as luigi which is alright because luigi controls differently but i find the green stars to be a lot more enjoyable plus you can use yoshi who is a ton of fun to control and has a bunch of bulb berries that grant him different powers and just in general there's more to do there's way more galaxies and some are even brought back from the first game and of course galaxy 2 has the perfect run which is one of the most infamous mario levels in existence for its difficulty the only thing i truly missed was a hub world but at the same time it doesn't matter that much when the game itself is such a great time 3. super mario bros 3 i didn't end up playing this game until college with my roommate and man what a damn good experience was i missing out on mario bros 3 is one of the best if not the best 2d platformer ever does it look as pretty as super mario world nope does it have as much story as celeste not even close but gameplay control and level design wise no notes are missed the controls are like a very refined version of mario bros 1 where you'll build up speed much quicker and can slow down faster too but it's not pinpoint sensitive you still feel a bit of tug and gib which is immensely satisfying when you get used to it the levels are all well varied and interesting all of them consist of different ideas and themes without dragging anything out the power-ups are also fantastic too and there's so many of them fire flower tanooki hammer and frog suit it's all great stuff each power-up is actually useful for multiple different scenarios which is surprisingly a rare thing in platformers that have power-ups but even beyond that is the excellent main game there are so many details that give mario bros 3 an incredible personality each boss is different new enemies are constantly thrown at you you can play mario bros 2 and 2 player there's card mini games you can find warp whistles to skip entire worlds from start to finish mario bros 3 is one of the most replayable and fun games out there 2. paper mario the thousand year door not only is this the best mario rpg but it's one of the greatest rpgs just in general the only issue is that there's occasionally too much backtracking but everything else is incredible i mean the game starts with a noose in the middle of a rogue port like what the nintendo they really just wanted to tell whatever story they felt like didn't they and it's an incredible story at that sir grotus kidnaps peach so he can use her to bring the shadow queen back to life which in turn creates shadow queen peach an insanely hard final boss but before any of that mario has to find seven crystal stars to open you guessed it the thousand year door along the way you'll meet a bunch of partners and my goodness this is where things get goofy you've got goombella who flirts with mario a badass yoshi fighter a shy koopa with a bandit on his nose that he never changes a clown with big tatas that also flirts with you and a burglar mouse that kisses mario several times i don't know why everyone loves mario so much i guess that's why they call him a player got him most of the worlds outside of the first one are extremely imaginative and fun to explore since the themes are all really exquisite the great boggly tree blitz pit creepy steeple all locations you wouldn't expect from the plumber the gameplay is the best part by far fighting is genuinely rewarding due to how deep the combat is and the massive amount of badges you can utilize like a normal rpg you gain star points for winning fights you can use your partner in battle and it's just a damn good time the plot goes from people turning into pigs from a curse to signing up for a boxing ring to learning about admiral bobbery's wife dying and how he wasn't able to be there for her you really get into some very deep topics with the thousand-year door and that's why it's so special it pulls at your heartstrings more than any other mario rpg game does and it's better because of it and on top of that there's so many interesting side quests you can tackle too my favorite being the pit of 100 trials where you have to take on a gauntlet of 100 battles just play this game it's fantastic one super mario 64 a look of shock isn't displayed on your beautiful face i think it was very clear which mario game was going to make it to number one mario 64 is more than just the first well made 3d platformer it's more than a vibrant place with 120 stars several levels and controls that still hold up fairly well to this day it's more than all of that it's all about the little things so long gay bowser the mystery of luigi being unlockable the most infamous game bug otherwise known as the blj mario saying thank you so much for to playing my game the wario apparition negative emotional aura mario's thick ass the endless amount of ways to speedrun the game mario 64 has managed to develop into a part of gaming culture on the same likes such as fortnite and minecraft and this game is over two decades old even i am surprised that it's managed to maintain this popularity after so long this is by far my most played video game of all time and the magical feeling has never left i first played it at 8 years old and even at 28 the happiness of the castle the adventure of bob owen battlefield in the epic fight against rainbow bowser has never left me replayable isn't even an accurate description of mario 64. playing this is basically just my lifestyle and i wouldn't be the same person without it and there you have it i'll probably update this list a few years in the future when more mario games come out but yeah i think it's safe to say that i've definitely played a mario game before anyway i hope you enjoyed watching this massive video and i hope you made it to the end because that would be pretty crazy considering how long this is thank you all the time for watching and i'll see you all soon until next time [Music]
